Lover Movie My own review !
I am here to give my own review of the Tamil film "Lover" as a must-watch for those who loved or hated movies like "Das," "Arjun Reddy," "Kabir Singh," or "Dear Comrade." It emphasizes the uniqueness of "Lover" in telling a familiar story in a fresh and relatable way. The film revolves around the toxic relationship between a young couple, Arun and Diva, portraying the timeless battle between a man and a woman's definition of a relationship.
The film delves particularly focusing on the portrayal of masculinity, relationships, and self-discovery. It discusses how the protagonist, Arun, struggles with his sense of ownership over Diva and his toxic behavior when his expectations are not met. The film, which highlights the importance of understanding oneself and finding self-contentment before seeking fulfillment in relationships. Additionally, I like to praises the performances of the actors, the well-rounded supporting characters, and the director's skill in capturing the nuances of urban love and modern-day relationship conflicts. It concludes by advocating for more filmmakers to explore such themes and redefine love stories in Indian cinema.

Quarantine Tag
Was bored so got this from @sarsariya. (Love your blog by the way!)
Are you staying home from work/home? - Consider myself very privileged to be able to continue most of my work from home. (Some of my family and friends are in essential services and have to continue to go to work, which I understand is not at all ideal given how crowded the long commute can get.)
If you are staying home, who is with you? - My dad and mom!
Are you a homebody? - Depends! I often find myself wanting time and space alone but I also enjoy going out and being in the company of friends or meeting new people and visiting new places.
An event that you were looking forward to that got cancelled - Was anticipating my internship and a few dance performances, but these got cancelled. Doesn’t help that the people who invite us to do IG/Facebook live performances don’t commission us either, which makes it harder to save up for expenses for the next semester.
What movies did you watch recently? - Super Deluxe (Tamil) & Varane Avashyamund (Malayalam).
What shows are you watching? - Nothing right now but I just finished all three seasons of Dear White People! It’s gotten several good reviews from black viewers about the nuanced handling of intersectional issues and the black experience in an Ivy League. Before that I was watching Unorthodox, and now I’m getting started on Hit The Road.
What music are you listening to? - A lot of citypop and soul funk as always! That has become a staple in my music diet at this point.
What are you reading? - Nothing really... Does digging through Stackoverflow count?
What are you doing for self care? - Drawing and dancing!
Tagging - Anybody who wants to do it!

Mahanati: Worth the hype?
Disclaimer: Some incessant ranting on your way (I can’t believe that it’s 1300+ words). Please stop reading if you dislike reading lengthy posts. This post is a downpour of my emotions/feelings as I watch the film. This is not a review because I am not a film critic to pen down such. This post is based on some archives, some self-understanding and some information which I got from my parents and grandparents. I can’t guarantee 100% authenticity of it. Also, pardon my grammatical errors.
My heartfelt words of praise to the intelligent film makers as they succeed in their objective -The film has done great job at the box office and has garnered accolades from the audience and the critics. Why intelligent? Because they saw many benefits including monetary ones (no wonder, cinema is also about money making) from this biopic.
Not many from the present generation of Telugu people (especially teenagers) know much about this legendary artist of the 1950s called Savitri. Most of them have hardly seen her work. She has done 148 Telugu films, 102 Tamil films, 6 Kannada films, 6 Hindi films and 3 Malayalam films that make the total of 265 films spending 30 years in the cinema industry.
People from the 50-60s age group, who have seen her work and have adored her acting would be curious to watch this movie, even though they knew the same things about her life, which were going to be showcased in the movie.
I was initially disinterested about this movie due to these reasons -
Right from my childhood, I have grown up watching Savitri Amma’s films. I have lost count of how many times I watched them. These classics are so close to my heart that I remember every dialogue from every nook and corner of her films. Such was her enthralling screen presence and acting. One instance would be the scene where she expresses through those beautiful eyes in the song ‘Kolu Koloyamma’ from the movie ‘Gundamma Katha’ is splendid. I was afraid that scenes reproduced in her biopic may tamper the memories of those precious scenes for me. Some of my favourites (in no order of preference) include: Maayabazaar, Paandava Vanavaasam, Narthanasaala, Kanyasulkam, Dr. Chakravarthi, Devadasu, Missamma, Mooga Manasulu, Kalasi Unte Kaladu Sukham and the list is just endless.
I could not see anyone except her. How much ever good one might be in reproducing Savitri Amma on screen, my eyes would not at all relate to her. When I saw posters of Savitri and Keerthy Suresh one beside the other, I was like “Savitri Amma ekkada and Keerthy Suresh ekkada?” (Nay! No comparisions at all!). I knew her previous work and thus had very less expectations from her.
When heroines were on screen, none of us would concentrate on their physique. Well, this can be partially attributed to those golden days of movies where glamour was not the one and only constraint for heroines to sustain in the market. Savitri was one such heroine who had this amazing capability to keep our eyes glued to the screen by her performance. She was obese and so were other heroines like Bhanumathi Ramakrishna. Her position started fading away in the 60s, because she gained more weight. After she got addicted to alcohol, she lost weight but still enacted many small useless roles. The sight was so heart wrenching in the movie ‘Gorintaku’. I couldn’t see her like that. It was difficult for me to digest the fact that this was the same woman who had big and beautiful eyes, now succumbed to alcohol, looking so pale and weak. I didn’t have that courage to watch that being iterated.
I have seen my grandparents and my parents loathe Gemini Ganesan (GG). They believe that he was responsible for her fall. We failed to understand the reason behind Savitri falling in love with him. I was not ready to watch their love story. He was already married, was 13-15 years older than her and was in a relationship with Pushpavalli. She did the biggest mistake of her life by marrying him and choosing to live as his second wife. I don’t know what kind of a man he was. He married Juliana Andrews in 1997 almost when he was in his 70s or 80s. This makes me detest him, how much ever ‘Kaadhal Mannan’ (King of Romance) he might be.
But I gave up my dubiety. I watched the film with low expectations and I have mixed feelings at the end of it. The first half of the film was a letdown. There were lot of fictional elements added. A lot of creative liberty was taken in the plot of the film. Madhuravani and Antony’s angle was totally unnecessary. She is a fictional character who becomes a story telling device, narrating the story from a third person perspective. I don’t get why audiences found them cute. I was here to watch Savitri’s story, not their love story. But, it is true that this Tamil article was published by writer Sivashankari. The child Savitri phase was too fictionalised. Rajendra Prasad’s portrayal of Savitri’s uncle K V Chowdary was remarkable. DQ as usual does a great job. Many elements were ignored conveniently. Others in the supporting cast were just too middle-of-the-road. Keerthy Suresh’s acting in the recreated B&W scenes was just passable. She plainly imitated her. From where one can bring that demeanor Savitri possessed? Her personality, her eyes and acting versatility cannot be rivalled to that of Keerthy’s as the audiences claim. I was literally bored watching the sweet love story of GG and Savitri. A special mention to the ‘Mooga Manasulu’ song which is based on the tune from the movie ‘Devdasu’. An awesome visual delight it is.
Then came the second part and *boom*. A fabulous transition by Keerthy. She owned the second half. Her performance was outstanding. There were some issues here as well. The editing was low key. GG was never jealous of her. And second that she was so passionate about acting that lest she considered quitting films. Rest all is okay in this half. I have watched those photographs of her where she was seen riding an elephant with GG. She used to donate a lot of money to the people, and had an interest in buying big vintage idols of Gods and Goddesses. And yeah, her rash driving LOL. The arc from where she becomes ‘Mahanati’ (Great Actress), ‘Nadigayar Thilagam’, the one who used to have many cars, a swimming pool in her big mansion to phase where she distances herself from her family, gets addicted to alcohol, people cheating on her, her getting bankrupt… Every emotion illustrated was fantastic.
And my worst fears came true. I started crying incessantly in the theater. Although I have known this story since childhood, watching it coming live on the silver screen was so agonising. And the climax and the songs ‘Chivaraku Migiledi’ (This one like the song ‘Mooga Manasulu’ is also one of her films’ names as well. There are so many elements in the film which were related to her films, like the name of the character Madhuravani was indeed the name of Savitri’s character in ‘Kanyasulkam’. One more instance where she refers both Tamil and Telugu industries dear to her, ‘Puttinillu Mettinillu’ is name of her another movie. I just loved this detailing) and ‘Gelupu Leni Samaram’ just added to it. I couldn’t stop myself from crying. Thank God, her face wasn’t shown to us, when she slips into coma. Thanks for sparing us that pain. This movie has done a decent job, but is quite lengthy, the scenes which were cut from the film were good. If they avoided those added fictional things and instead included these scenes, it would have been better.
Evelyn De Morgan said – “Art is eternal, but life is short”. True that. Savitri Amma died in her 40s. She was in coma for one and a half year. Like Divya Bharathi, Soundarya, Madhubala, and Sri Devi, she was gone too early. What remain are timeless treasures of their work.

Will Bheeshma Tamilrockers Movie Download Release Affect Its Box Office Collections?
Yes, Because of Tamilrockers’s illegal activities, the box office of Bheeshma is likely to be severely affected. Earlier, Tamilrockers, filmywap and Movierulz had leaked various movies including World Famous Lover, Nerkonda Pervaai, Software Sudheer, Sarileru Neekevvaru among others.

In India, there is a law restricting its citizens to use any illegal or torrent websites for streaming or downloading purposes. Unfortunately, if you ever caught using Tamilrockers, Movierulz, and other torrent sites, the Indian government has authorized to punish you as per the piracy law.
These pirated websites have been killing not only Tamil but also Telugu, Hindi, and English film industry. They are the reasons behind damaging the career of thousands of aspiring actors. And when such artists face piracy they lose income and thus lose self-confidence.
But, fortunately, there are multiple laws in India against online piracy to save them from paying the hefty price. In India, the Copyright Act, 1957 protects all types of music, songs, and videos, literary and artistic work. The Stop Online Piracy Act (STOP) is also one such act that restricts access to sites that host pirated content. The prime aim behind the piracy law is to stop or crackdown on copyright infringement.
About Tamilrockers & Movierulz
You must know what Tamilrockers or Movierulz is? If you do not know, you must know that these are websites which promote copyrighted material like movies, TV shows, trailers and songs for free download.
Despite relentless efforts and action taken by DMCA and other governing bodies/authorities to curb down the piracy wave that is going on in the country, it seems that piracy is not going to stop at anytime soon in India. Despite DMCA action, Tamilrockers and Movierulz websites are drawing millions of traffic every day.

thoughts on the 2017 indian movies i watched
telugu:
gautamiputra shatakarni: balakrishna’s answer to baahubali. good but not amazing, i guess. idk i liked shriya’s performance but it was super small and hema malini was disappointing. it was pretty forgettable even though it was a hit.
shatamanam bhavathi: cute rom-com as sharwanand movies usually are. anupama parameswaran, i loved (she was amazing in a...aa too!), and the whole caste did a great job, esp prakash raj. also, songs!!!! nilavade, mellaga tellarindoi, and shatamanam bhavathi are my faves!!
baahubali: the conclusion: oh. my. god. this was even better than the first!! everyone was so amazing the songs are wonderful strong female characters!!!! i loved the movie and it’s very hard not to! also, ramya krishna. just phenomenal. this is just a huge milestone and rajamouli deserves every ounce of praise he gets as does everyone who helped make the film happen. #jaimahishmathi!!
radha: action love story. standard, but good time pass. worth a watch.
rarandoi veduka chuddam: i thought it was not bad but my family did not like at all. just another love story with action at the end. jagapathi babu was good and naga chaitanya looks really hot. rakul is goals as always.
duvvada jagannadham: masala film, but entertaining. comedy was good and songs were good. allu arjun looks *heart eyes* and pooja hegde is pretty much perfect. it’s kinda copied-ish from jr. ntr’s adhurs and adhurs is better imho but it’s worth a watch.
ninnu kori: loved!! it’s a rom-com with a twist. nani films are usually good and this did not disappoint. the songs are really nice cinematography is picturesque and the art direction really deserves a mention bc it was sumptuous! niveda thomas did a great job as did aadhi. the comedy was subtle but hilarious.
shamanthakamani: cool story, not executed well. forgettable.
fidaa: i’m usually a huge sekhar kammula fan, i even liked life is beautiful even tho it was just a rehash of happy days. fidaa though, unpopular opinion, i just did not like. i liked sai pallavi and it was a pretty movie, and a lot of people loved it, but i guess it just didn’t do it for me? i loved his earlier films- anand, godavari, happy days, dollar dreams (his debut) so i was super excited for this, especially since it got such rave reviews, and i really liked the vachinde song but i ended up being rlly disappointed coming out of the theater.
goutham nanda: again normal masala movie. gopi chand (SPOILER) plays both hero and villain and excels in the latter role. not surprising tho since one of his strongest performances imo was as the villain in varsham. don’t know why it became such a big flop tho it wasn’t that bad.
lie: good idea, entertaining to watch. i’m lowkey a fan of arjun (gentleman, oke okkadu/mudhalvan, drohi/kurudhipunaal, to name a few favorites of his) and nithiin’s movies are usually watchable. again, idk why it was a flop it wasn’t that bad.
nene raju nene mantri: i usually like rana but this movie was best left alone in the 80’s/90’s. watch it for kajal looking rlly pretty and rana looking rlly hot.
anando brahma: was a surprise favorite. it was absolutely hilarious. one of the best horror comedies made in telugu after prema katha chitram blew up and everyone started making copy cats. there’s like a ten-twenty minute portion somewhere a bit later in the middle that’s just. incredibly funny.
arjun reddy: kind of problematic but also so progressive and idk i liked it a lot despite its flaws. to start off vijay devarakonda is just absolutely phenomenal and so is the guy who plays his best friend. the best friend’s comedy to his dad about pee/poop is hilarious. it’s darkly funny, the songs are soooo nice (i personally love love love madhurame!) and cinematography is very well done. overall, a very well crafted movie that depicts the human condition, almost a modern day devadas.
kathalo rajakumari: i got bored and fell asleep halfway thru and i don’t usually enjoy nara rohit movies so this was a let down
jai lava kusa: cool story and ntr was really really good, but that’s pretty much it. very masala.
spyder: it was so bad and i was so sad bc i like ar murugadoss movies generally, and i like mahesh babu movies generally, and i like rakul preet singh movies generally.
mahanubhavudu: cute romcom with a lot of bhale bhale magidivoy vibes. seriously, a lot. but, worth a watch.
raju gari gadhi 2: boring, not funny, ending harkened to 90s. different movie references were fun tho.
psv garuda vega: a lot of ppl liked this but i wasn’t one of them. i got bored and fell asleep halfway thru.
mca (middle class abbayi): usually nani films are different and cute but this was total masala straight from 90s/early 2000s. bhumika was good tho and sai pallavi and nani were cute together.
hello: was cute and i liked it but was more like three different movies in one. ramya krishna was good as was jagapathi babu. some songs were catchy, good cinematography and art direction. kalyani priyadarshan looks cute but doesn’t act that believably and akhil to me doesn’t look all that amazing. the parkour sequence seemed unnecessary and there was no chemistry between the lead pair.
movies i wanted to watch but couldn’t: ghazi, andhhagadu
hindi:
ok jaanu: not as good as ok bangaram/ok kanmani, which is not surprising. shaad ali can’t compare to mani ratnam.
half girlfriend: boring but camera work was nice as were the songs.
hindi medium: loved it!!!!!!!!!! irrfan khan was amazing as was saba quamar, who plays his wife. a very strong supporting cast as well. it’s an extremely funny movie that satirizes the lengths parents are going to to make sure their kids get into the “right” schools. again, i loved it. definitely definitely worth a watch.
dear maya: i absolutely adore manisha koirala and she was absolutely perfect in this film. the overall movie was really good but manisha’s performance just stands out. she did a great job and the film would’ve been even better if it had focused on her character more. songs were also catchy and fun and the overall vibe of the film is super fun too. cinematography is a+. give it a watch!!
mubarakan: funny entertainer that’s worth a watch. ratna pathak is good as always, as is anil kapoor.
movies i wanted to watch but couldn’t: mom, jagga jasoos, secret superstar, lipstick under my burkha!!!!!!!!, a death in the gunj!!!!!, trapped, newton!!!
tamil:
maragadha naanayam (marakathamani in telugu): super funny black comedy, I loved it!! aadhi was rlly good and the supporting caste was awesome as well. totally worth a watch!!
movies i wanted to watch but couldn’t: kaatru veliyidai (cheliyaa in telugu; i’m a huge fan of mani ratnam so hopefully soon!!!!!!), oru kidayin karunai manu
