JAN AKKERMAN is the Dutch guitarist who co-founded FOCUS back in the late 60s with yodeling keyboards-wiz and incomparable flautist Thijs van Leer.

In 1969 the outfit, that also included Hans Cleuver (drummer) and Martijn Dresden (bassist) was the pit band for the Dutch theatrical production of musical Hair

Afgelopen zaterdag was ik op bezoek in de Sandlane studio in Rijen om beelden te schieten voor het Everybody Loves Bob Marley initiatief van zanger/gitarist Fernando Lewis.

Zoals de naam al doet vermoeden, speelt de band de muziek van het reggae-icoon. Het zijn niet zomaar covers, de nummers zijn verpakt in nieuwe verrassende arrangementen in de meest uiteenlopende muziekstijlen als latin, New Orleans ‘second-line’, blues, soul en funk.
