I was asked to answer questions about Clarence by @inertial-reel
Full Name: Clarence (I’m bad at last names, so I haven’t given him one yet :( .)
Gender and Sexuality: Male, hetero.
Pronouns: He/Him
Ethnicity/Species: English/Human
Birthplace/Birthdate: London/a while ago on an alternate timeline, so it really doesn’t matter, but think late 1700s/early 1800s
Guilty Pleasures: Food, a Pint of the stout at The Hybrid’s Claw, making fun of his work partner David.
Phobias: Biologists and Sociologists.
What they would be famous for: His uppercut.
What they would get arrested for: His past career as a mercenary.
OC I ship him with: His fiancée.
OC most likely to murder them: Whatever he’s punching at the moment, followed by David’s mother. Not with her own hands, though. Through somebody else.
Favorite Movie/Book Genre: He likes reading cookbooks. He normally doesn’t have time to cook, but on his days off he cooks meals as extravagant as he can afford.
Least favorite Movie/Book cliche: He doesn’t like red herrings in mysteries.
Talents and/or Powers: Clarence is a talented close-quarters combatant. He has a particular focus on boxing/fisticuffs, with a few choice grapples he’s learned from his travels. Since a vast majority of what he’s fighting outweighs him and is stronger and faster than he is, he wears a powered exoskeleton to give his punches more... punch.
Why someone might love him: He is honest and cares very deeply about his friends. He punches things hard too, if you like that kind of thing.
Why someone might hate him: He’s got a ruthless streak, and can fly into violent rages. This is something some people do not appreciate. Also, he’s relegated into the Sancho Panza trope/archetype.
How he changes: This current book doesn’t have a lot of development for him. His development occurs long before the start of the book, when he realizes that while he enjoys fighting, that he’s doing it for the wrong people, and so he joins the British Government to fight abominations.
Why You Love HIm: He’s the Sancho Panza to David Matherton’s Quixote. He’s grounded, sensible, and uses some pretty sweet technology to do his job. He’s in many ways the opposite of David in background, demeanor, fighting style, and physical appearance, but he enjoys David’s company and partnership as they hunt terrible beasts let loose in London.
