First, thanks to Ian Henderson for writing about this release on Pop Lib. I saw that Flying Nun was reissued this several years ago, but never got around to learning about the band or the release.
Turns out Superette (Auckland, New Zealand) rose from the ashes of Jean-Paul Sarte Experience. Seriously, JPSE keeps growing as a favorite more and more. I was smart enough to buy Fire Records "I Like Rain" 3 LP compilation and it remains a go to.
When JPSE broke up in the early 1990s, Dave Mulcahy formed Superette and released "Tiger". You can hear JPSE in the DNA of this music. Other members include Ben Howe (founder of Arch Hill Recordings) and Greta Anderson.

"Faerie Tale Theatre" Role Association: Seasons 1 through 3
To honor Shelley Duvall in a silly yet fun way, I decided to finally do what I've been meaning to for some time: play a complete game of Role Association for the characters of Faerie Tale Theatre.
That is, describing the story using the names of the actors' more famous characters. @thealmightyemprex and I once did this together, long ago. I thought I would try doing it myself now, starting with the show's first few seasons.
The Tale of the Frog Prince
The Genie is turned into a frog, and only a kiss from Inga can break the spell. Odo is Inga’s father, while Debbie Dunham and Kramer are Genie’s parents. Brave Sir Robin narrates.
Rumpelstiltskin
Wendy Torrence is ordered to spin straw into gold for Lots-O’-Huggin Bear after her father Sarge lies that she can. Tattoo agrees to spin it for her, but at a price.
Rapunzel
Olive Oyle is hidden away in a tower by her abusive foster mother Gloria Swenson, until she meets and falls in love with Prince Lir. Cornelius narrates.
The Nightingale
Ned Kelly is the Emperor of China, who learns the value of friendship from Hillary Whitney and a bird with the voice of Wendy Torrence. Commander Adama is the Prime Minister, while Harold, Iroh, and Mr. Wing are other members of the court.
Sleeping Beauty
Rita the Cat is cursed to die by Ellen Griswold, but Grandmama Addams softens the curse to a 100-year sleep, from which Superman’s kiss will wake her. Father Mulcahy and “Hot Lips” Houlihan are Rita’s parents.
Jack and the Beanstalk
Dave Stohler lives in poverty with his mother Jessica Tate, until Blinkin gives him magic beans that grow into a beanstalk, which leads him to the castle of gigantic couple Ted and Edith.
Little Red Riding Hood
Emily Hobbs goes into the forest to visit Grandma Gilmore and encounters Alex DeLarge, who sets out to prey on them both. The Mayor of San Francisco and Ida Sessions are Emily’s parents.
Hansel and Gretel
T.J. and Savannah are the children of poor woodcutter Wimpy, who get lost in the woods and are nearly cooked and eaten by Mrs. Potiphar.
Goldilocks and the Three Bears
Addie Loggins intrudes into the house of papa Mongo, mama Alma Cox, and their son Paco. Dick Solomon and Rosie are Addie’s parents and Randall Peltzer is a forest ranger.
The Princess and the Pea
Stephen Waltham falls in love with Sally Bowles, but to test her worthiness, his mother Dr. Lesh has her sleep on twenty mattresses with a pea beneath them. Dr. Jack Bardofsky is a court jester and Chris Hargensen is a mean-girl princess.
Pinocchio
Pee-Wee Herman is a puppet carved by Saul Bloom and brought to life by Maria Portokalos. Kramer and Rocko are two con artists who lead him astray, and Waternoose turns him into a donkey.
Thumbelina
Two-inch tall Princess Leia is stolen from her mother Berta and nearly forced to marry first Castor Oyle, then the Penguin, before finding true love with Tommy Ross.
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
Cora Crawley is taken in by seven dwarfs after fleeing from Julia, who wants to kill her because Nicholas Medina claims that Cora is more beautiful than she is. Eventually Julia poisons her, but in the end, she revives and marries Frederic.
Beauty and the Beast
Janet Weiss becomes the prisoner of Count Dracula and eventually learns to love him. Chief Hubbard is her father, while Morticia Addams and Helen Henny are her sisters.
The Boy Who Left Home to Find Out About the Shivers
John Cage isn’t afraid of anything, so he spends three nights in Count Dooku’s haunted castle with the promise of marriage to Dooku’s daughter Max. Bob Cratchit is an innkeeper, Stu Pickles is a clergyman, and Frank Zappa is a hunchbacked servant.

The first batch of qualifying polls have ended and the following characters have been eliminated:
Shay Powers, Becky Baker, Kelly Ashoona, Dave Turner, Rick Murray, Ms. Hatzilakos, Jake Martin, and Jenna Middleton
If you'd like to prevent your favorites from joining that list, you have about 24 hours left to vote in the second batch of polls.
Just so you know, asks are open if you have any questions or if you want to spread propaganda.
Also, this is a little late in the game for this but I have been informed that I'm supposed to tag the blogs that inspired me to do this. So here goes: @camebackwrong-tournament, @all-seeing-ifer, @ultimate-tragic-couples-showdown, @bisexual-protagonist-competiton, @dw-companion-bracket, and Jane Mulcahy for making that one youtube video that got me to start watching Degrassi in the first place (I don't know what her tumblr is but I assume she has one because she used the word "blorbo" in one of her videos). If you haven't seen that video you should, it's great.
#feel free to ignore this tagged people#i'm aware that degrassi is a hyperspecific property without much of a fandom here on tumblr#but it's also a show with like a billion characters built for this exact kind of thing#so it had to be done#degrassi#degrassi: the next generation#degrassi character tournament

If there was anyone Dave trusted more than the rest of the SAS, it was Sean. Lawrence was a close second, but Sean was his best friend. He was the one that was there for him when everything felt like too much.
Sean had stood guard in their tent the day they’d lost Lawrence so he could cry without shame. No one dared cross the boxer, so no one had dared to come in and tell him to suck it up.
They might have been soldiers, but Dave had always cared so deeply for the people he loved most. He wasn’t ashamed of how much it had hurt to lose their friend. And he had almost lost his son… it was only understandable that he was crying that night.
And Sean had never judged him.
But seeing those familiar soldiers and hearing that southern drawl? A few tears once again clung to his lashes. “Sean Mulcahy!” Dave found himself pushing past the others on the street, apologizing all the way until he was wrapping Sean in a tight bear hug.

It's party time again
FUN - LOVING Freddie Mercury gave yet another party this week, when he at last moved into his million pound Kensington home.
Freddie bought the house five years ago, but has never had a chance to settle in as he has either been touring with Queen or recording in Munich.
Apart from all the Queen members turning out, tipping back the champagne I spotted fashion designer Liz Emmanuel, singer-actor Peter Straker from the TV series Connie, who was also celebrating his birthday, film director Russell Mulcahy, Tim Curry, Dave Clarke, dancers Wayne Eagling and Wayne Sleep, and Freddie's former girl friend Mary Austin.
Guests were somewhat relieved that they didn't have to arrive in "drag” — the order of the day for Freddie's recent birthday party in Munich.
Freddie could soon be chasing Queen up the charts — they are at No. 9 with their latest single One Vision — as next week CBS are releasing another solo single, Love Me Like There's No Tomorrow.

On my previous mash/Frasier post.......
Hawkeye: Niles. Bc I love Niles and I love Hawkeye and this is my au so I can do what I want. Also the flamboyance and love of theatre
Trapper: Daphne. I said piercintyre rights. Also I like gay awakening story lines. Usually trappers the repressed one in fics, so I’d be interested in seeing it reversed
Radar: Bebe. Ok just hear me out. Imagine little Radar as an agent. He’d really just be a Bebe replacement rather than being her if that makes sense. Like he’s super nice and everything still but once he starts negotiating he’s a shark. It’s startling and he always gets his clients the best contracts.
BJ: Chopper Dave. I honestly couldn’t really find a great place for Beej... so let’s just say in this au the KACL gang are more prevalent and somehow BJ and Hawkeye still become bffs. I’ll work it out.
Klinger: Bulldog. Instead of being a gross womanizer though his shtick is business investments or something like that. Like he’s still skeevy but it’s in a lovable way instead of a gross way.
Frank: Noel. In love with Margaret (Roz) still. More sniveling than real Noel. Instead of Star Trek hes crazy about America. Goes to gun conventions and shit like that. Not as nice.
Margaret: Like I said, Roz. Both badasses so,,,, yeah. And
Henry: Kenny. Both in leadership positions where they have no clue what they’re doing. Except this poor Henry won’t have Radar to take care of things for him,,,
Potter: Martin. Old soldier whose very attached to his pet,,,, that’s both of them. In Frasier they even compared them to each other! Mach made in heaven.
Charles: Frasier, definitely. Posh bastard. Tho Charles is arguably better. He ran so Frasier could walk.
Father Mulcahy: Father Mike. Need I explain more?
Sidney: Gil. Again, running out of space. Sorry Sid.
Sophie: Eddie!! She’s now a little jack Russell congrats girl.
Also uhh Carlye would be Maris, Margie would be Mel (sorry queens I love y’all), Louise McIntyre would be Donny.... this au would probably require a few ocs lmao. The way I envisioned it everyone would take their character’s last name (Benjamin Crane, Margaret Doyle, etc) bc all the familial relationships in the show would stay the same. So Hawkeye and Charles would be brothers (which would be..... interesting) and Col. Potter would be their dad.
This,,,,,,, took up way to much of my brain cells gdjdbdjdbksbds

Music Video of the Day: Young Turks by Rod Stewart (1981, dir. Russell Mulcahy)
Music Video of the Day: Young Turks by Rod Stewart (1981, dir. Russell Mulcahy)
There is a little bit of a complex story leading up to why I chose to do this music video, so let me try and walk you through it. I wanted to do Oh Sherrie by Steve Perry. I went to my trusty source of background on the first ten years of MTV–I Want My MTV by Craig Marks and Rob Tannenbaum. I figured there might be some background…

New Post has been published on Crazy Dave's Crew
New Post has been published on https://cdcrew.com/why-was-2016-the-worst-year-ever/
Why was 2016 The Worst Year Ever?
Was 2016 The Worst Year Because of Death?
If you have spent any time at all on any of the social networks, such as Facebook or Twitter, you know 2016 was the worst year ever. But why do so many people feel that way?
Maybe it’s because we lost so many celebrities and famous people this year – I found a list compiled by fiftiesweb.com containing more that 150 names of well-known and some not so well-known folks who have passed away over the last year. Follow the link to get the full list, but here are just a few you may recognize.
January
David Bowie passed away on January 10th at the age of 69. He was a two-time Grammy winner influencing music and culture for four generations.
March
Nancy Reagan, First Lady of the U.S. from 1981-1989 passed away at the age of 94 on March 6, 2016

Did loosing this many celebrities in just one year make 2016 the worst year ever? Maybe…. But did you know we lose more than 90 iconic figures every year? Don’t get me wrong, we lost over 150 this year, but does this really make 2016 the worst year ever?
I have a few other numbers that will probably shock you!
Was 2016 The Worst Year Due Abortions?
Did you know approximately 900,000 potential celebrities also died in 2016? Who is shedding tears for these future movie stars, athletes, astronauts and world leaders?
Around 16% of all pregnancies in the U.S. end in abortion!
Why? you ask –
The top three reasons for abortion :
having a baby would interfere with work, school or other responsibilities (can’t be expected to take responsibility for my actions)
cannot afford a child (never thought about adoption)
do not want to be a single parent or are having problems with their husband or partner (selfish)
Now for the reasons everyone gives for allowing abortions –
Only 12% of abortions are for medical reasons
Only 1% of abortions are due to rape or incest
These numbers are just sad. But I haven’t seen a single comment on Facebook or Twitter about this being the reason 2016 was the worst year ever! We weep over 150 people who lived very full lives just because we saw them in a movie, but not a peep about the 900,000 babies murdered before the drew their first breaths.
Just because abortion is legal, doesn’t mean its right! Remember slavery?
[avia_codeblock_placeholder uid="13"]
[avia_codeblock_placeholder uid="14"]
Or was 2016 The Worst Year Due To Terror Deaths?
Suicide attacks killed more people in 2016 than any other year on record. 800 terrorist carried out 469 attacks in 28 countries killing over 5000 people!
Amazingly, I haven’t heard one person mention this when they are whining about “2016 The Worst Year Ever”
Priorities
Something is mixed up! We have not got our priorities in the right place. We mourn the deaths of a handful of wealth individuals who provide us with entertainment, but not the genocide of 900,000 innocent babies that never got a chance to be! We fail to mourn the thousand of individuals that died just trying to live their lives.
Please get your priorities straight folks
