La dame du métro,

On est dimanche, je rentre d’un brunch avec des amis dans le marais. Il fait froid mais beau, je cours jusqu’au métro avant que la pluie ne me rattrape.

Une place libre sur ma ligne, un duo face à face, je suis ravie. Une dame est assise en face de moi. Elle commence à faire des bruits bizarre, ça ressemble à des petits rires qu’elle laisserait échapper malgré elle. Je souris en me disant qu’elle écoute surement un podcast et qu’elle rit de ce qu’elle entend tout simplement. 

Un homme assis dans le carré à coté de nous, lui lance régulièrement des regards en coin, innocent j’imagine. Toute personne qui a 30 minutes à tuer dans le métro et qui n’aurai plus assez de batterie pour tenir se retrouve à observer les gens malgré elle. La fille en face de lui se pince discrètement le nez en observant les arrêts de métro.

je lève délicatement les yeux de mon smartphone pour l’observer à mon tour. Elle porte une veste en simili cuir noir sur une robe Dashiki bleu à motif jaune vif. Elle n’est pas maquillée et porte un jolie bandeau noir tressé. En observant son visage je dirais qu’elle doit avoir 35 ans tout au plus.

Son regard vide se porte dehors, puis sur ses sacs, des cabas, tous vides mais elle s’accroche à eux comme s’ils étaient sur le point de tomber. Elle regarde autour d’elle, essayant d’accrocher le regard des gens.

Elle continue à faire des petits bruits, des petits rires, des mots imperceptibles mêlés maintenant à des mouvements de bras, elle se tient une côte avant de rire de nouveau. 

En respirant, mon nez me pique, l’alcool et la transpiration me font me dresser sur mon siège. Depuis combien de temps est-elle dans cet état ? 

Il est 18h, j’ai du mal à comprendre comment on peut se mettre dans un état pareil. Je la regarde et je pense au fait que selon l’heure, son état ne dérangerait personne. Passé minuit, qui nous jugerait d’avoir un peu trop bu en soirée...Mais un dimanche en fin d’après-midi c’est moyen, plus le fait que ce soit une femme. Je sais que malgré moi c’est ce qui me dérange le plus. On a tellement l’habitude de voir des hommes dans cet état dans le métro et personnellement pour moi c’est la première fois que je me retrouve en face d’une femme saoule et je vois bien qu’une femme attire plus de regard qu’un homme. 

Je suis restée en face d’elle un long moment, 14 arrêts pour être exacte jusqu’à ce que je ne supporte plus ni l’odeur ni ses mouvements de plus en plus vif. Je ne comptais pas bouger, je n’aime pas changer de place car j’ai l’impression de les insulter sans dire un mot. Elle me faisait simplement peur. 

En me levant je me rend compte que toutes places autour de nous sont vides. Je m’installe quelques carrés plus loin. Je l’entend encore rire au moment ou j’écris ces quelques lignes. 

De loin on se dira simplement que cette femme était au téléphone et qu’elle riait en gesticulant.
