The sound of rumbling like an oncoming storm echoes around you, but there isn’t a cloud in the sky. The sun shines brightly through the row of trees on either side of the road you ran on. Your chest tightens as you struggle to breathe through your exertion.
“Where you goin’, baby?” a voice calls out to you as he revs the engine of his bike, the rumbling turns to roaring.
“I told you to wait for me!” he adds when you didn’t answer him.
You wheeze as you dart to the right and into the woods.
“Hey!” the voice yells over the engine. “Hey, don’t go into the woods! It’s not safe!”
You ignore him as you pump your legs, zipping through the dense trees. You hear the thrum of his bike cut off, followed by the sharp rustling of hurried footsteps through the leaves as he takes off after you. You can hear him gaining on you and you push yourself a little further. Your dress gets caught on a branch and yanks you back. You grunt as you wrench yourself free, the fabric ripping, and you continue to run mindlessly. In your panic, you aren’t able to avoid the root of a tree sticking out and your foot catches right into it, sending you flying into the dirt. A muffled “oof!” escapes your lips as you hit the ground.
“Aw, baby, what did I say?” His voice is right above you, soft with sympathy. “I told you not to go into the woods. You alright?”
You try to crawl away, but he grips your upper arm and pulls you to your feet. You yelp, but he doesn’t seem to notice. He eyes down your figure and pauses at the tear along the hem of your dress. He reaches out to brush the dirt off your outfit, but you take a step back away from him.
He looks at you with a small expression of hurt.
“Why you runnin’ from me?” he softly asks.
“Bucky, you’re…” you stammer, “what happened to you?”
“What do you mean, baby?” He tilts his head. “I came back to you. Like I promised.”
“You came back… but you came back different. You’re… you’re not the same. You’re not the Bucky I love.”
He clenches his jaw as he steps closer to you. He cups your cheek, rubbing his thumb under your eye, swiping a tear you don’t realize you're shedding. He slides his hand to the back of your head, then down to the back of your neck, and squeezes, not harshly, but firmly.
“Don’t say that,” he says, his voice was deep and dulcet. “I love you. I came back from the dead for you.”

You knew Bucky forever. You had been children attending the same elementary school – you in first grade and him in fourth. You didn’t pay much attention to him. He just appeared one day, transferred from elsewhere, as a scrappy little kid who always seemed to have some dirt smeared on his face or his tattered clothes. Then you briefly attended the same high school. You still didn’t pay much attention to him, but he gained a bit of a reputation. Gone was the doormat of a kid who let other kids walk all over him, tease him, and shove him around because he came from “the wrong side of town.” Puberty and discontent caused him to grow a backbone and he took shit from nobody, not his peers, or his teachers, or anybody around him. His smart mouth and fast fists had gotten him into trouble time and time again growing up, but hed never been in a fight he couldn’t win. That earned him enough fear that no one messed with him anymore, but they would still talk about him behind his back.
Bucky was working at the local mechanic shop long before you started classes at the local university. He repaired the cars of everyone in town who needed his expertise, but looked down on him for where he came from and his lack of formal education. When you graduated and got that little bookkeeping position at the small accountant’s office, Bucky bought the mechanic shop and became its owner, but that still didn’t stop the chatter of the town folk. He mostly kept to himself, but the busybodies continued whispering to each other, “That boy ain’t right.” Especially when they could hear him before they could see him – his roaring bike, his pride and joy, tearing through the road and startling their quaint existence.
It was after your second year of working at the accountant’s office when you finally spoke more than two words to Bucky.
“I’m gonna need you to take my car to the shop, kid,” your older brother said.
“What?” you answered, eyebrows raised in surprise. “Why me?”
“‘Cause the sheriff needs me to take a weekend shift and my car is barely hangin’ on. It can’t wait. I ain’t supposed to be relyin’ on the cruiser to run errands.”
“Why can’t Arvin do it?”
“‘Cause he’s the reason it needs to go to the shop. I ain’t trustin’ him with my car no more.”
“Fine,” you shrugged. It didn’t matter to you one way or the other.
“And don’t let that grease monkey rip you off!”
“Ha!” your younger brother snorted. “Bet he’ll fix the car for free if she’s the one bringin’ it to him. Ain’t no girl in this town givin’ him the time of day.”
“Don’t say that ‘bout your sister, Arvin,” he scolded. “Or I’ll tan your hide.”
“Aw, geez, Dean,” Arvin whined, “was just a joke!”

You drove your brother’s prized Chevy to the local auto shop with a white-knuckled grip. The engine sputtered something crazy, smoke puffed out of its hood, and the front bumper was holding on by mere hopes and dreams.
“I swear to God, Dean, ya tryin’ to kill me?” you scowled as you pulled up to the empty garage.
You stepped out of the car and looked around. There was a messy workbench at the back of the room, a pristine motorcycle parked off to the side, a couple of helmets on a table, and a black leather jacket draped over a chair.
Suddenly, you hear a drawn-out whistle behind you. You turned to see a man walking towards you, wiping his hand on a rag.
“Well, you sure did a number on that,” he commented.
You froze as you stared at him. James Buchanan Barnes. Bucky. You always knew him to be handsome, but you never really looked at him that closely. You never said a bad word against him or thought a bad thought, but you still brushed him off as someone you didn’t care to know. Taking a real good look at him now, though, he must have been the most handsome man you had ever seen in your entire life. With his golden honeyed skin, the faintest of lines just barely beginning to trace the corner of his eyes, his sleeves rolled up to reveal the strength in his forearms, his dark hair brushed back with a loose curl falling over his forehead, a killer jawline, and full, beautiful lips… Well, he looked like a man you might just give everything up for.
“Huh?” you dumbly uttered.
Bucky smirked. “You ran over a deer or somethin’?”
“Oh!” You shook yourself out of your stupor. “Oh, no, I mean… I don’t know. I didn’t do this.”
Bucky hummed as he surveyed the damage. He circled the car, popped the hood, and then started rambling about what was broken, what needed to be fixed, what parts he needed to get, and a lot of other technical stuff. You were listening as intently as you could, but you understood nothing.
At the end, Bucky sighed, “It’s gonna be a pretty big job.”
“Well… how much will it be to fix the car?” you asked, biting the corner of your lips.
“For you?” Bucky smirked. “It’s on the house.”
You inhaled through your nose and pressed your lips together, trying to keep your wry amusement from showing as you rolled your eyes. Arvin was right.
“No, thank you,” you replied.
“No, really-”
“It’s not my car,” you interrupted. “I’m not the one payin’ for it; my brother is.”
“Ah…” Bucky chuckled. “In that case, maybe I’ll charge ya double.”
You snorted and then giggled. You covered your mouth with your hand to conceal your mirth.
“Aw, don’t do that, sweetheart,” Bucky said with a teasing grin. “You have a beautiful smile. It’s a real shame to be hidin’ that.”
Your face felt hot as you immediately blushed. You cleared your throat, then said, “So when will you be done with the repairs?” A hint of a smile still lit up your eyes.
“About four weeks, tops. You’ll come by to pick it up?”
“I don’t think so. My brother will probably be the one who’ll come pick it up… and settle the bill.”
Bucky placed a hand on his chest and pouted, looking absolutely devastated. “You mean, I might never see ya again?”
You shrugged, “I see ya plenty around town.”
“And you never stopped to say ‘hello’?” Bucky pursed his lips and shook his head.
“Now, why would I ever do that?” you laughed. “We don’t even know each other.”
“Well, let’s get to know each other then! C’mon, let me take ya out. We can have milkshakes, you like milkshakes? Bet they’re as sweet as you.”
You scoffed, your lips turned up into a stunned smile at his boldness.
“Or we can have burgers instead, if you’d like. Whatever you want, baby. We can have both!”
You crossed your arms and looked away, chewing on your cheek, unsure of how to answer.
“C’mon, I don’t wanna never see or speak to ya again.” Bucky’s voice was soft and earnest.
You stared at his handsome, hopeful face for a few seconds before you relented. “Okay.”
Bucky’s face lit up. “Tonight?”
“Sure, yeah,” you chuckled.
“I’ll come pick you up at six!”
Your face fell. “In your bike?”
“Well… yeah.” Bucky looked at you with his brows pinched in confusion.
“It’s very loud… and fast…”
“Well… it’s a motorcycle…”
You started to shift your feet, suddenly unsure.
Realization dawned on his face. “Oh, are ya scared? You don’t have to be scared, you’ll be very safe with me, I promise. I have an extra helmet, and you can wear my leather jacket.”
You glanced at the sleek black material draped over the chair and swayed a bit before smirking and replying, “Well, I do like your jacket.”
Bucky’s nervous look wiped from his face as he grinned again. “You’re gonna look real cute in it.” He paused and then continued, “So I’ll pick you up at six?”
Dean was going to be working late during his weekend shift, Arvin was going to sneak off with a girl he was sweet on, and your father would be working late at his office. There wasn’t a need to be sneaky tonight.
You smiled softly, “Yeah, six.”

You felt nervous butterflies fluttering in your stomach as you got ready for your date with Bucky. You’ve only ever been on two dates before with this one boy in your class back in college, but both dates ended lackluster and neither of you bothered to reach out to one another after the second date. Neither of you were sour about it, though. You’d run into each other around town every so often and would greet each other with a smile, but nothing more. Last you’ve heard, he married Mary Ann.
You heard the rumbling of Bucky’s bike getting closer and you fluffed your hair one last time in front of your bedroom mirror before hurrying down the stairs to the living room. You smoothed down your dress as you stood in the foyer, waiting for his arrival. You instinctively took a step the moment you heard the knock, but stopped and decided to count to ten so as to not seem too eager.
When you opened the door, you were greeted with a smiling Bucky and a small bouquet of flowers. His smile became a grin as he handed you the flowers.
“Awww, thank you, Bucky,” you gushed as you accepted the flowers, “you didn’t have to.”
“‘Course I did,” he beamed, “can’t forget the flowers for a pretty girl like you. My mother would turn over in her grave.”
Your eyes widened at his admission and he cringed after he realized what he just said.
“Aw, Bucky, I’m sorry-”
“No, no, sweetheart, don’t worry about it,” Bucky quickly stammered. “Hey, I’m sorry; I didn’t mean to bring the mood down-”
“Oh, no, you didn’t-”
“Why don’t you put those flowers in some water,” Bucky interrupted, “and we can start over. Forget all this awkwardness.”
You hesitated and then agreed, “Sure. Come in so you’re not waitin’ outside.”
Bucky grimaced self-consciously and nodded as he stepped inside, closing the door behind him.
As you walked to the kitchen, you thought to yourself, “Shoot… where am I gonna put this where my family can’t see?”
“You can put that in your room, if ya like,” Bucky suggested from the living room, almost as if he could hear your thoughts.
“Oh, okay…” you answered as you filled a vase from the sink and dropped the flowers in. Then you slowly made your way upstairs so as to not spill any water. When you got back down to the living room, Bucky was waiting for you patiently with his hands in his pockets.
“Ready to go?” he asked.
“Yeah!” you answered.

One date turned into two, into three, and soon enough, you found yourself spending all of your free time with Bucky. You would go to his shop during your lunch breaks as well. Your weekends were spent with him. Whenever any of your family members asked you where you were going, you always came up with some lie about meeting with a few girls from work to watch a movie, or have lunch or dinner, or go to the roller skating rink, or whatever. Your father was too busy being the town mayor to question you, but Dean was beginning to get suspicious. Arvin was completely oblivious to what you got up to.
Bucky invited you to attend the annual traveling carnival one day, and you happily accepted. You arrived on the back of Bucky’s bike, wearing his leather jacket.
As you removed and handed Bucky your helmet, you commented, “Maybe I should get one of these of my own, hm?” You gestured to his jacket still wrapping you in its warmth. You could smell faint traces of motor oil and the spiced amber of his cologne, which made you want to shamelessly bury your face in the leather and inhale.
“Uh uh,” Bucky refused, “I like seein’ you in my jacket.”
“Don’t you get cold?” you teased.
“Not with your arms around me, keepin’ me warm.” Bucky grinned and yanked you against his body.
You giggled and gently swatted him in the chest.
“Well, I wanna show off my new dress,” you stated as you unzipped the jacket and handed it back to him.
He slid the jacket up his arms as he whistled, “And you look real pretty in that dress. You got that for me?”
“Maybe,” you shrugged smugly and started walking towards the cotton candy cart with Bucky following close behind, his eyes on your rear and a heavy smirk on his lips.
As you and Bucky were lining up for some cotton candy, you noticed someone staring at you from the corner of your eye. You turned and almost choked on your own spit as you spotted Arvin frowning at you.
“Who’s that?” Bucky asked as he met Arvin’s eyes with a glare of his own.
“Ah, shoot,” you thought to yourself. “They noticed each other.”
“Just my little brother, Arvin,” you replied, smiling wildly to hide your panic.
Bucky’s face relaxed as he asked, “The one that crashed your older brother’s car?”
Bucky smiled and did a little wave and nod combo at Arvin. Arvin looked confused as he stiffly raised one hand in an awkward greeting.
“Yup, that’s him,” you laughed nervously. “I’m just gonna say a quick ‘hello,’ I’ll be right back.”
You gave Bucky’s pec a little pat and then power-walked towards Arvin.
When you got closer to him, he hissed, “Are ya seein’ Bucky?”
“Shhh!” you hissed back. “Yes, but shut up!”
“I’m tellin’ pa.”
“Don’t you dare!”
“That boy ain’t right!”
“Oh, shut up! There’s absolutely nothing wrong with him! Listen, Arvin, you don’t tell Dean or daddy about Bucky, and I won’t tell Dean you took his newly fixed car for a joyride the other night.”
Arvin squinted at you. “How you know about that?”
“I know things. Now you keep that in mind in case you ever think about squealin’.”
You didn’t bother to stick around for Arvin’s response, knowing he would keep his mouth shut with such a threat dangling over his head.
“Shit, knew sendin’ her to his shop was a bad idea…” Arvin muttered to himself.
You ignored him as you practically skipped back into Bucky’s arms, almost knocking the huge puff of pink cotton candy out of his hand when you bumped into him.

Arvin kept his word and neither Dean nor your father knew a thing about you and Bucky. You continued to see Bucky any chance you got, and Arvin always silently scowled when you went off with whatever excuse you could come up with. Dean assumed you met a boy, but didn’t know which boy. He would make passive comments about marriage and waiting, and you would just look at Dean with a sweet and oblivious, but obviously fake, expression. Dean would sigh and mention protecting yourself and not to get into any trouble. Your father didn’t know a thing and both brothers weren’t telling him.
One day, Bucky asked you, “You wanna go to the drive-in?”
“The drive-in? But you only gotta bike.”
“Ah, they’ve got bleachers near the back by the concessions. Even better, closer to the snacks.” Bucky gave you a wink.
You giggled and enthusiastically accepted his invitation.
Bucky picked you up on time, another bouquet of flowers in hand. Arvin was home this time to see you fawn all over Bucky. He pretended to be busy with whatever he was doing in the kitchen while darting his side-eying eyes between you filling a vase with water and Bucky politely waiting in the living room. You noticed Arvin’s glowering and you mouthed to him, “Don’t be rude,” as you walked upstairs to put away the flowers in your room.
Arvin scoffed and continued to pretend he was busy.
“Arvin, right?”
Arvin jumped and turned to see Bucky casually leaning on the kitchen door frame.
“Yeah, that’s me,” Arvin replied apprehensively.
“I’m Bucky.” He reached over to offer his hand. “Think I saw you at the carnival a couple of weeks ago, but we never met.”
“No, sir, we did not,” Arvin said as he shook Bucky’s hand a little too firmly, as if he might have been trying to prove something.
“Bucky?” you called from the living room. “I’m ready!”
Bucky chuckled, “See ya around, Arvin.”
Arvin mumbled under his breath, “Much rather not.”
Bucky pretended not to hear him as he smiled at you and wrapped an arm around your shoulder.
“Let’s go, baby,” he said, pressing a kiss to your temple.

Most audience members going to the drive-in would go there with a car so when Bucky parked his bike off to the side of the bleachers, it was empty. You and Bucky had the outdoor seating all to yourselves.
As you two went off to line up at the concessions, you overheard some giggling and whispering. You turned to see a small group of girls sneering at you as they whispered to each other, snorted, and then began laughing.
“What would you like, baby?” Bucky’s voice drew your attention back to him and you realized you had made it to the front of the line.
“Huh?”
“We’ve gotta large popcorn and a large soda to share, is there anythin’ else you’d like?”
“Oh, no,” you quickly answered, a bit embarrassed that you got distracted. “That’s more than enough.”
“Aw, nothin’ is too much for you,” Bucky beamed, rubbing the small of your back. “How about a box of those Junior Mints? You like those.”
“Sure, thanks, Bucky.” You smiled up at him.
“Anythin’ for my girl.”
You blushed at his words and ducked your head down bashfully.
You made your way to the bleachers with your snacks in hand and took a seat somewhere near the middle bench to peer over all of the cars. He placed his fingertips on your chin and turned your head to face him. Grinning, he gave you a chaste kiss and then turned back to the movie screen. You smiled goofily as you also turned back, but then your face dropped as you noticed a few pairs of eyes on you from the cars ahead of you. Some people were a bit more subtle and watched you from the rearview mirror. Others were bolder and actually turned around to look at you before turning back and saying something to each other in the car, then laughing. You started to feel self-conscious and shifted in your seat.
As if Bucky could feel your anxiousness, he asked, “What’s the matter, baby?”
“Hm? Oh, it’s nothing,” you answered. Quickly changing the subject, you added, “How’s the popcorn?”
“Could use a little more butter,” he smirked as he popped a few kernels into his mouth.
You ate one and then snorted, “Oh, there’s plenty of butter!”
Bucky chuckled as he draped his leather jacket over your shoulders, the evening air starting to get a little chilly.
Throughout the movie, Bucky kept his arm wrapped around your shoulders, occasionally feeding you popcorn with a playful smile. Every so often, you could see someone glance in your direction and it was making you antsy enough that you couldn’t pay attention to the movie. You were glad when the movie finally ended because all you wanted was to leave and be alone with Bucky. However, he had other plans and decided to take you to the local ice cream parlor.
“Wait here for me, baby,” Bucky suggested as he sat you down in a booth, “and I’ll go order. What flavor you want?”
“Cherry vanilla,” you declared.
Bucky smirked, “Cherry vanilla, it is.”
A few seconds after Bucky stepped away, a girl came up and took the seat across from you. You straightened and blinked at her. You recognized her.
“So you’re takin’ your turn with Bucky too, now, huh?” she snickered as she placed an elbow on the table and leaned her chin against her fist.
You narrowed your eyes at her and folded your hands on the table. “I don’t know what you mean, Mary Ann.”
“Aw, there ain’t a need to get all defensive. Plenty of girls had their ‘Bucky phase,’ as we like to call it. You’re gonna have a lot of fun with him.” She winked.
You scowled, “I don’t wanna talk about this.”
“Oh, don’t you worry about a thing.” She waved you off. “Us girls have to stick together. We won’t say a word to nobody. Just remember, he’s only good for a nice time, not a lifetime. He ain’t the type any lady with any sense would marry. That boy, he’s sweet, but… there’s just somethin’ about him that ain’t right. Not marriage material.”
You glowered at her as she condescendingly patted your hand and walked away. You heard of the rumor that was amongst the young ladies of this town, but you didn’t think it was true until Mary Ann confirmed it. Some girls would spend time with Bucky but he ever remained their dirty little secret. They’d have their fun with him privately as they then pretended not to know him and continued to deride him publicly, just like the rest of the town folk. In the end, the girl would find a “respectable” man to marry.
Bucky was walking back with an ice cream cone in each hand. He glanced at Mary Ann with a bit of confusion stitching at his brows, but she didn’t acknowledge him as she arrogantly brushed past him. He shrugged and continued towards you with a bright smile dancing on his lips.
“Here,” Bucky said, cheery, as he handed you a cone, “a sweet treat for my sweetheart.”
Your smile was a little tight as you took the cone and thanked him.
Bucky’s face fell. “What’s wrong, baby?”
“Mm-mm, it’s nothin’,” you lied as you shook your head and took a lick of the ice cream. “It’s just Mary Ann. She was being a cluckin’ hen.”
“A cluckin’ hen, huh?” Bucky said, with his mouth slightly full of ice cream. “What she say to you?”
“Nothin’ important,” you reassured him with more lies. “You wanna try some of mine?” You brought your ice cream cone closer to his lips. He grinned as he took a taste and offered some of his ice cream to you as well.

Days later, you and Bucky were sitting on his porch and enjoying each other’s company, laughing and joking, and talking about anything in the world. When the conversation naturally lulled into silence with his arms around you, you finally worked up the nerve to ask him the question that had been bugging you ever since the drive-in.
“When you give me flowers,” you softly said, voice laced with uncertainty, “and you tell me that it’s okay to put them in my room, you knew that I didn’t want my family to know about us, didn’t you?”
Bucky’s cheeks ticked as he clenched and then relaxed his jaw. You could see his Adam’s apple bobbing as he swallowed.
“Mary Ann told ya somethin’, didn’t she?” Bucky said. His voice was low and almost conspiratorial, with a crooked smile on his lips to hide his unease.
After a pause, you replied, “Mary Ann said that a lot of girls in town had a ‘Bucky phase’ and that you were good for a fun time…”
Bucky scowled, “And not much else, huh?”
When you didn’t answer, he spat, “Cluckin’ hen.” He looked briefly panicked before he added, “Not you.”
You glanced down, but then continued, “There’s a rumor them girls like to whisper about you, that you had to be kept a secret. Is that… is that something they wanted, or you wanted?”
Bucky looked ever so slightly hurt before he answered, “It was what they wanted.”
You nodded but didn’t say anything else, still looking down at your feet.
“Baby,” Bucky sighed, “look at me.”
You looked at him a bit sheepishly.
“I like you. I love you,” Bucky stated. “And I don’t ever want us to be a secret. I’d like to marry you one day. But if the only way you’d be with me is if no one else can know… then I’ll be your secret. I just wanna be with you… for however long you’d have me.”
Your eyes filled with tears as you whispered, “You love me?”
“With my whole heart.” Bucky pulled you a little closer and leaned his forehead against yours.
“I love you too…” You wrapped your arms around his waist and pressed your lips against his. He could taste the salt in your tears as he kissed you back, pulling you even closer until you were flushed against him.
Neither of you acknowledged the fact that you didn’t say whether or not you would tell your family about him.

Baby it's cold outside
Fandom: MCU AU. Pairing/starring: DARK!Bucky x fem!reader. Word count: 80. Content: Coming DUBCON/NONCON implied, coercion, drinking, Bucky not taking a no for an answer. A/N: Trying to write max 100 words is an addictive challenge which @justagirlinafandomworld has provided with the addition of “Baby It's Cold Outside by Idina Menzel & Michael Buble” (a gorgeous rendition here – but this song always pisses me off so things got DARK).
Baby, it's cold outside
He’d chosen the music specifically for this, mirroring the way she shies away even as he leans in closer, offering her the strong drink.
It’s for her own safety, why can’t she see it? Outside, it’s a veritable blizzard – that he hadn’t planned, though, it was just pure luck.
Their fingers graze each other as she reluctantly takes the drink fro him. She’s cold. Shivering.
He’ll warm her soon enough, though. He’ll show her it’s better to listen to him.

Hello everyone, hope you're all doing alright, folks!
About me! I roleplay since ten years now, and currently doing it on discord! I live on UTC+2, and I am currently 23 years old. I write on 3rd person, and are pretty flexible when it comes to the lenght of our answers. I would just like to have a partner sending something I can work with. I tend to like playing on a server for the two of us, with using tupperbox. I love OOC discussion, and eventually would be looking for someone who could answer regularly. I am also ready to double rp. To conclude this part, I wish that all people reaching me be over the age of majority! It is possible to do on erp/smut stuff, but more vanilla/simple rp will also be fine to me! About my kinks, it turns a lot about d/s dynamic, as much femdom than maledom and we will be able to talk about it more in dm!
Anyways, about what I am really looking for right now! It will be about some fandoms (I will send my ships on those if you're into those fandoms), so buckle up and here we go!🕺

Not sure if anyone would be interested in an Inktober challenge geared towards comic book characters, but I made one. It only has 15 prompts since I feel like some of them are a little bit involved, plus I personally prefer to spread my Inktober drawings across two days. It's more relaxing that way. I designed this with DC characters in mind, but it could really work for any comic universe. I also tried to pick prompts that would be good practice for different skills (anatomy, perspective, ect.) Hope you guys like it!
Oh and I recommend trying to pick different characters for the different prompts, it's more fun that way!

The Doplerganger Phenomenon (Halloween 2023) PART 1
Pairing: (Professor) Loki Laufeyson x Female Reader (College Student)
Warnings: Vague horror mentions, SFW. Words: 2911
Tropes: A doplergnager of someone you know...A string of unexplained deaths and on top of that things are going missing from your apartment.
A/N: 🤪 Inspired hugely from a childhood Japanese horror (?) Romance movie that ws titled Dooplergnager!! #no beta, no editing. My first MCU FIC. Sadly I can't find it on YouTube and I lost the CD, if anyone can find it-- the movie goes like this without any gore. An office girl (I think) lives alone at home, uses charcoal to draw on a canvas and is thinking of entering a museum's art contest... but is so indecisive, and suddenly the door bell rang, she goes to see who it is and sees its a blind guy who idk is asking if it's the right address or smth. She says no and he goes away. ... Boom from one floor beneath her apartment, at the same location as her door, another her appears... her dooplerganger-- who does what she was indecisive about, draws, enters the art contest, basically this whole movie is some detective supernatural thing where a detective discovers that some ppl jump off buildings after seeing their dooplergangers achieve better than them. Sooooo ;) this is not an original idea, just wanna honour this movie.
~~~~~~~
Clap.
"Listen here. If nobody takes this Friday exam seriously, I'll have Mr. Laufeyson take over all my classes for the rest of the week." Lightheartedly said Thor, his wide voice overpowering the whole classroom, grinning in playful triumph, yet the threat was very real.
Groans and moans—some boos here and there—fill out the jam-packed classroom, ranging from zombie-tired to actual fear responses. My reaction lied delicately, balancing on the tightrope of both dread and hope, but my heart twisted in excitement.
Among the chorus of complaints, chatter, and chairs shrieking surrounding me, I took my sweet time filing and packing my things, which were not so neat. Class ended on a very motivational note. . . .
Professor Thor's brother was not one most students willingly paid a visit to after-hours, unlike the other teachers, and looking for him without a purpose in academic advice is as pointless as buying rope from a camel.
His striking slim features, like his most prominent and popular emerald gems for eyes and boney face, take a stand in attracting many to sign up for his courses. I so happened to be one of the lucky few who didn't check the profiles of the teachers and allowed that to influence my decision-making.
Beauty is always deceiving.
And it never fails to be so entertaining to watch from the back rows when another person rage-quits, abruptly leaves in the middle of his teaching, or slumps defeatedly in their seats each and every week. It never stopped Mr. Laufeyson from carrying on the lesson—not even when a wasp flew in by mistake and terrorised the class while he didn't bat an eye.
Until it went after him, he took immediate action, swatting it hard against the wall with a ruler.
He froze.
Holding that fatal position, he rotated his head towards me—I meant, the class obviously.
"Now, any questions? And if there are, you best make it good; otherwise, you'd like your future grade to fall from a height." He removes the ruler, revealing a flattened wasp slowly unsticking itself from the wall and plummeting down with a comically weak buzz.
Then silence.
"Just like that."
I held back from laughing, except for a tiny chuckle joining the other students'. Sucking in the bottom of my lip, I focused on the assignment on my laptop while keeping an active ear for any tidbits of information from him. I really liked his humorous side. But there was something else about him that I loved.
…RING.
There went the bell, and class was dismissed. Mr. Laufeyson, with a smooth ease, was the first to leave, and the others and I stalled to watch him before following suit in hushed giggles.
"—ho! Just now, that got me feeling some type of way."
Another girl low moaned, "I'm melting like an ice cream in the sun."
"I wish he used that ruler on me instead."
Mmhmm.
Mr Laufeyson's back disappeared after a sharp turn, he's never in the cafeteria during lunch breaks but in a way what a relief he won't ever see the dumb side of me. Not that he sees me as anything else except a student.
But it will change.
Thankfully graduation was right around the corner… By then I'll have a chance to ask him out properly. Maybe buy him some flowers? As a farewell appreciation gift.
. . .
"I heard you used my name again to scare the children," Loki piqued, hands studiously behind his back as he approached the sun-lit kitchen.
His brother, shining blonde tied-back hair, grins wolfishly after downing a beer can and tossing it in the trash, making it over to Loki.
"Relax, it's just a joke, brother!" Thor let out a boisterous laugh, smacking a large hand on Loki's shoulder and causing him to slightly flinch. "College kids need the motivation. A kick of adrenaline, am I right?"
"More work that is unnecessary doesn't sound very funny to me. I will not be babysitting your class again after last time, a word of warning."
"Oh come on now, you have a knack for torturing students to greatness— and I can supply you with as many peoplee as you wish. Just say the word!—"
Loki's unamusement showed in his thin smile and poise stance.
"—Don't think I've seen the way you've been holding yourself back from having fun these days." He winked, walking off with a whistle in the direction of his study.
Loki didn't think it was obvious but of course his brother noticed his recent shift in behavior, more avoidance. But like all things in life, it would soon pass. It has to. And it will.
The root of his avoidance would graduate soon enough next month. He'll just have to exercise more patience and wait it out.
. . .
Friday nights are always the best to rewind and treat myself to fast food on the couch. It's fun to pretend that there's 3 days in the weekend.
Time to imagine the handsome actor in the Notebook as Mr Laufeyson.
"Sorry, can't join you tonight girl. I got a 2nd date with Taro!" Juliet whooped excitedly, pumping a fist towards the ceiling as she one-handedly strapped on her glittery heels with urgency.
I waved weakly at her bursting enthusiasm, smiling hard and happy for her. "Goodluck—"
The door slammed in my face, faint clip-clops of her heels muffled away into the buzzing night, and the disappointment of my ruined plans reflecting off the smooth rogue-wood.
Welp and there goes movie-night with my bestie roommate… Now I've got the whole place to myself, wowie, nice. Time for some self-care.
Was what I thought before accidentally falling asleep in the middle of a firework love confession scene on the big screen, an empty bag of popcorn kernels laying at the foot of the couch I slouched on. As I finally snored myself awake, a series of insistent knuckle-punching came from the door, louder than the TV audio.
BANG. BANG. BANG.
That is so unlike the bubbly optimistic Juliet I know, she wouldn't be coming home until… I patted around me for my phone and checked the time.
9:00 PM.
Yep. It's far too early.
Instantly I sat up straight, unblinking, eyeing the front door with a tight clutch on my phone. No way is Juliet even close to retiring from her date, ever. No one is supposed to be here and not at this time.
BANG. BANG.
Step by cautious step, I neared the door and tiptoed to peer out of the peephole at what–or–who was causing the commotion. My phone at the ready to call the cops.
BANG.
A mop of slick black hair blocked the majority of my sight: as if this person was leaning forwards, face-first, into the door like he was either trying to hide his identity or didn't know how doors work. Since usually people wouldn't be standing so absurdly close against a door with knowing the possibility of it hitting them.
Or this is a drunk idiot who wondered off from one of the other houses. An uncommon occurence but happens.
BANG—
"Stop!" I shouted, my free hand taking hold of the doorknob firm and full of annoyance. Ready to give this possible-drunk a piece of my mind.
The person listened then a soft, almost feverent breathing came through the wood after hearing my voice. Are they drunk and sick? Not the first time seeing this terrible combo.
"Please take a step back!" I warned the person on the other side and swung the door wide open in a rush of concern.
My unsuspecting self, dumbfoundedly, receiving the best shock of my life. It was a man. I knew.
"Well," glimmered a pair of deep green gem-like eyes once settling in my face. Upclose and too personal. "Hello, my darling. It's been too long."
That infamous silky voice that slithers into anyone's consciousness for days. Belonging to non other but my– I mean, that man.
My vocal cords decided to stop functioning without my consent. "H…"
Almost all of my vocabulary disappeared from my brain the second I fully registered the familiar handsome face in my head. His petal-thin lips parted while my jaw hung as we both looked at each other in a mutual deadlock.
"M– Mr Laufeyson?" My tongue muscle memory took over.
He nodded curtly in confirming his identity, still staring wide-eyed at me as if drinking me in like a new sight to behold.
Wait he shouldn't be here. I wasn't hallucinating this hard, right.
There was no reasonable explanation as to why I could be hallucinating without a drop of alcohol in my system. Unless he stalked me, which is impossible to imagine the busy man ever doing, even pondering it, to me of all people.
Hah. I wish.
But lo and behold it was him, genuinely in the flesh, smiling the most biggest white-teethed smile I've seen.
"May I come in, please. Darling?"
In where? In what?
Trying to make sense of the current reality standing infront of me, hoping this wasn't a prank.
"Why are you here… Sir." I intoned, politely, darting my eyes around him at the dark corners suspiciously. This wasn't some graduation prank right, I secretly hoped it wasn't.
"Why?" A, very nice sounding, humourous chuckle ripples from him before he continued.
"How could I not pay a visit to my most brilliant student? I would regret it for as long as I live." He said it extremely convincing as if it was normal to show up out of the blue at my house in the middle of the night.
"Right. Um, please come in."
I beckoned him in with an instinctual welcoming smile, holding back the urge to tidy my no-doubt ratty appearence and adjust my clothes as he entered.
Brushing his whole arm against mine, on accident I think, but he didn't seem to notice, too focused on removing his shining boots.
Nervously, I closed the door behind him while deeply breathing in the faint passing of his leafy cologne. My mind long forgetting if I should've let him inside.
I tersely said, ignoring the happy booming in my heart, and gestured to the gray couch. Hoping he wouldn't notice the tiniest shade of darker gray, the imprint of where I lazed earlier.
"Please, sir, make yourself at home."
"Oh, I planned to." Mr Laufeyson winked uncharacteristically, smoothly shrugging his coat off him and folding it over the armrest– where I laid my head earlier– casually. One of his hands had a purplish-dark marking across the skin, must've been from him knocking something.
"Thank you, darling."
"No problemo." That was not a cool response at all. Internally I cringed at myself while mentally noting to get him a bandage for his hand injury.
It took much willpower not to lose control of my eyeballs from running down the rare sight of him in only his white button-up while feeling his intense emerald gaze all over me.
Juliet is not going to believe this.
Alright, I'm going to be a good host. And only that. He probably wants to ask about what career path I'm choosing or something, so hold back.
I cleared my throat, meeting with his eyes.
"Sir, would you like some tea or coffee?" And maybe stay longer.
"From you? Anything will do."
. . .
Crackles of laughter sitting together on the couch, his arm draped over the back of the cushion behind my head, silly banter over past lessons he taught, tiny tidbits of his favourite things and color (as I suspected was green) proven correct. We share more things in common than I had thought.
Who knew I'd be the lucky one to be graced with getting personal with Mr Laufeyson.
1:10 AM.
In a blink of an eye, time seemed to skip over and the hour hand crossed midnight. Even though I felt no ounce of drowsiness— it wouldn't be appropriate to let him get caught by my roommate. This wasn't exactly all that inappropriate too, we only talked.
"Sir, it's getting very late. I'm sure you have another student to visit tomorrow or something," I tried to sound casual with mild contact, genuinely smiley, and not at all like I was pushing him to get the hint.
His emerald eyes flashed understanding as he gave a relaxed smile, getting up from the couch slightly slow. "I'd hate to overstay my welcome and have you lose your beauty sleep."
I chuckled and copied his action while he collected his coat, his slim fingers fiddling with the buttons almost mindlessly. It was a rare sight to see Mr Laufeyson act… Nervous? Maybe, that would be funny to imagine but he must be feeling discourteous for accidentally not watching the time slip by.
I know I would.
"Oh and dear."
My gaze instantly flicked up to his already on me. "Don't think for one second I could ever forget you," he closed the distance between our bodies and said my name so intimately. Leaning in, tilting his head, my heart a combustion of excitement, as his eyes shut and he left a peck on my cheek.
The signals were green. He was giving all the right signals and I'd be a fool not to go for it. Just not right now.
I muffled my own giggle, leading him to the door as I held it wide open for him. "Thanks for stopping by, Mr Laufeyson. It means a lot to me." More than he could ever know. If only he could stay longer but that would be a huge violation to my roommate's trust. Darn it.
"As it is for me."
He softly smiled, taking his sweet time to walk down the small steps. Glancing back at me twice.
He left without a hurry into the swallowing darkness where the streetlights lacked reach, and I continued staring out the peephole long after his ghostly tall figure lost itself in a concerning direction. Only alleyways and deadends there.
But I shouldn't be too worried, he looked like he knows where to go.
Tik. Tok.
Tik tok.
It felt like an eternity wishing for Monday to arrive quicker, my nerves aflamed for the entire weekend as I picked out cute outfits in advance. Surely he'd appreciate a different look from me, I couldn't wait to see his face again.
—RING.
. . .
Back to class. Here we go!
For once throughout my college days, I woke up an extra hour before my alarm and prepped an all natural make-up look. Taking special care to choose a flattering outfit and spritzing all over myself with my favourite scent until I knew I would be a walking cloud of sweetness. Hopefully something to be remembered by.
Out the door I went after leaving some waffles for Juliet's breakfast. Way too early but it was worth it.
"—Right, let's continue where we left off before another bee decides to steal the thunder and my job. All at once." Mr Laufeyson placed away the long ruler responsible for last week's insect death, I noted that he was wearing the same coat from coming over last friday, as a round of chuckles and soft giggles in the mix, erupted at his words.
Mr Laufeyson was putting extra work into being humorous today of all days or his mood improved positively better... Possibly because of me. Because of last Friday night. Or I was getting too ahead of myself when he could've easily paid a visit to the others. Right, he's just being a good concerned teacher. As always...
Class went on like normally. And he didn't even glance at me.
. . . The hour had passed.
Hoping for the littlest of interaction after class, I sprinted the steps down to the front of the classroom. Ahead of anyone else. "Mr Laufeyson!"
Once I stepped around the desk to properly stand before him, a perky excitement in my every movement to be upclose to him again. My expectations of mildly receiving a smile from him was shattered the second he angled his face towards me, his stiff folders collected under an arm.
"What."
Mr Laufeyson said harshly, "—exactly do you want? My time is limited. My email is on the Google classroom, you can easily find it online to contact me. However If it's a matter you believe is urgent, see me in my office after school hours immediately."
Not expecting this... Kind of standoffish tone.
I deflated under the scrutiny of his sharp green eyes and downturned pink lips, hopes of my outfit and being noticed stomped by his quiet impatience and unusual agitation. Right, we were still in school. Why did I choose such bad timing to talk to him.
Too eager, I must've came across as desperate. Yikes.
"Okay, sir. Thanks," I gave a weak smile as he spun to leave swiftly.
Probably not hearing me in the midst of everyone else's small chatter joining the outside noise as I adjusted the strap of my bag on my shoulder. Heart heavy but I survived.
His change in attitude was unexpected but not unwelcome. The iciness of it. A telltale sign that something or someone had bothered him. By the troubled ook of his deepened wrinkles, I guessed it must be recent— An hour or few ago, maybe— his stiff body language told me it's a personal matter.
Either I was deducing nonsense or being a kick of delusional away from acting on my deepest urge to confess my feelings.
How could I even help him?
The MCU's Spiderman is not a poor execution of Peter Parker's character concept. He's not even poor execution of Miles Morales's character concept.
He is a poor execution of Terry McGinnis's character concept.
Peter Parker and Miles Morales both have so many fundamental pieces to their characters that are just missing for the MCU's Spiderman. Familiar names are floating around him- Aunt May, Mary Jane, Ganke Lee- but the fundamental ideas that make up Peter or Miles arcs just are not there. Themes like Miles's family expectations, Peter's constant money struggles, and the balancing act of doing good vs trying to live your own life are all absent. Even the idea of power and responsibility isn't properly introduced until the THIRD MOVIE when that really should been the central theme from the beginning.
Rather the MCU Spiderman has way more parallels with Terry McGinnis. Both are young hot shot teenagers who end up being taken under the wing of established and experienced hero who is on their way out. Both have complex relationships with their mentor which in a lot of ways serves as the driving force of their character arcs. Both gain high tech suits which enable their heroism. Both are viewed (or at least supposed to be viewed in MCU Peter's case) as heirs to the legacy of this hero.
It falls apart when you get into how they are different. While Uncle Ben is implied to have existed and be dead by the time MCU Peter is introduced in Civil War it's never actually confirmed and never properly comes up. Meanwhile the death of Terry's father is essentially the inciting incident of Batman Beyond: it's what motivates and drives Terry and the murder and it's fallout are the main focus of the first two episodes of Batman Beyond.
What's more MCU Peter's relationship to Tony is grounded in the fact that Tony just shows up one day and essentially taps him to join the Avengers. Bruce by contrast initially tosses Terry out on his ear, and when Terry turns up seeking justice for his father Bruce can't offer him anything but 'go ask the cops for help', and when that goes exactly as poorly as Terry said it would, Terry breaks into the manor steals the Batsuit and goes to stop Powers himself. Terry has active agency in his own choice to be a hero, which helps define his relationship with Bruce and to heroism. While MCU Peter was doing his own superheroics prior to Tony showing up in Civil War (not that he ever does much of that in future movies) his relationship to Tony is defined by Peter's dependence on him and his quest for Tony(/the Avengers)'s approval. And because they don't even bother name drop Uncle Ben or flashback to him, we're left with the impression that the main thing driving MCU Peter is that quest for approval. His motivations are never more complexly explored, and we don't even really see him just running around Queens stopping muggings or car crashes or anything that hints he enjoys or feels the need to actually help people.
And I think that gets into the final and most important difference between the two. Gotham not only needs Batman, it visibly and obviously and terribly needs Batman. Batman Beyond leans into this because decades without a Batman have left Gotham a cyperbunk dystopian hellscape. The city needs someone to stand up to the darkness, to be a symbol of hope, to be aspirational. Terry taking up that mantel means fighting supervillains, yes- but mostly it means doing what the original Batman did. Solving murders, stopping muggings, rescuing people from burning buildings or fighting off street gangs like the Jokerz.
But even in the earliest MCU movies, New York only needs superheroes when the current world ending threat shows up. Otherwise the city is all bright shinny clean streets filled with haplessly content citizens. This is the only reason that Vision's position of 'Our very strength invites challenge' in Civil War makes any sense- because the only purpose of these Superheroes is usually to fight a threat they where somehow responsible for creating. And this problem hits 'friendly neighborhood Spiderman' the hardest because he only has a responsibility to use his great power to solve problems, if their are problems in need of solving. Most of Peter Parker's (and Miles Morales's, Gwen Stacy's, or any other Spiderperson's) day is not fighting alien armies or netherworld gods. It's stopping break ins, rescuing people from car crashes, or dealing with other small scale local threats, that none the less benefit from someone with his abilities to make them better. Either New York in the MCU is an ideal utopian city where the police have everything handled apparently (which ha!) or Peter is apparently not interested in stopping bad things from happening. He spends so much of the first movie basically begging Tony to give him superhero things to do, not realizing that he could go outside and find people that need help on his own.
In conclusion MCU Peter Parker isn't 'regular Peter Parker but not an underdog', or even 'Miles Morales but white'. He's 'Terry McGinnis but without any agency in his own heroism'.
#The Spicy Take Zone#Batman Beyond#Spiderman#Peter Parker#Miles Morales#terry mcginnis#MCU#anyways the only Batman Beyond adaption I want is one done by the Into the Spiderverse crew#I can't see a DC live action movie not butchering him badly#the only truly good live action Batman of my lifetime was the Robert Pattinson one#since it genuinely seemed to get the character in a way most others did not
Something of note about Lilia's tarot spread is that—it's hers. The cards she pulls aren't precisely who the characters are to themselves, but who they are and what they represent to Lilia. As her coven, in her life.
Like, I don't really know my tarot that well—I'm just pulling themes from within the episode and my general understanding.
But when she was reading for Billy, he was fittingly represented by the Magician. But for Lilia, he was the “windfall.” He was the tower, reversed. Miraculous transformation. Because she, having put the sigil on him, saved him from the destruction and lead to his miraculous transformation. And to her, he was the windfall, because without him, she wouldn't be here, with her coven. She wouldn't have found herself.
Alice's is very straight forward—“full of fire, fights bravely.” It's how Lilia saw her, what Lilia had once again predicted for her. 'Wound suffered, lessons learned.' Specifically, Lilia wasn't able to warn Alice, but she learned her lesson. So, this time, she makes sure to warn Agatha. “When she calls you a coward, hit the deck.”
And why does she warn Agatha? Agatha represents her 'obstacles,' after all. Maybe so—Lilia's literal obstacle at this stage ends up being the Salem Seven, who merely want Agatha. Yet she chooses to stay behind to save a woman who probably wouldn't do the same for her. And the reason is—for her, Agatha is the Three of Swords. She looks at her and sees Heartbreak, (Rio) Sorrow, (Evanora) Grief (Nicholas). And Lilia is willing to forgive her—to sacrifice herself for her—even if the universe itself doesn't think she deserves it. This is different from how Agatha views herself, or even how Billy views her, since he initially pulls out the Chariot. One might say it's a random choice, but the Chariot is described as representing “determination, success, and control.” It's about overcoming challenges and gaining victory through maintaining control of your surroundings—which, I argue, embodies Agatha pretty well. So The Three of Swords is who Agatha is to Lilia. She doesn't hate her, or see her as a force to be reckoned with. She pities her. After all, the Queen of Cups is defined by her empathy.
Then, of course, Jen. Jen is Lilia's path ahead. Not only because she has a brilliant future of her own ahead of her in the mcu, now with her powers unbound. Because Lilia senses all the trapped light and bound power that Jen carries—“The High Priestess: Immense spiritual power, unable or unwilling to use it--” but also because Jen, the survivor, is the one who will carry on Lilia's memory. All those centuries, Lilia had been alone—there was no 'path ahead.' Everything was a jumbled mess, her “path” was non-linear and twisty. And Jen, after centuries of solitude, was her light in the dark, guiding her through the dark tunnels, as her mind wandered through her timeline searching for answers. Jen was the only person in centuries who bothered to see her as something more, to acknowledge her strength, and to help her fill in the gaps as best as she could. And so Lilia sees so much hope in Jennifer—who won't stop becoming better and better. Because for Jen, the Queen of Cups is her path behind. Wound suffered, lessons learned. “I couldn't save Lilia, I didn't even try to save Alice, I'll be damned if I let you two idiots die.”
Finally, Death, Rio. Well—it's obvious. In tarot, death isn't literal. It's mist often symbolic. Transformation, end of a cycle, new beginnings. Which is why we never see Lilia's corpse, and we never see Rio collect her. Because unlike Alice, Lilia went into the afterlife willingly. And for her, it was a beautiful release. After years of running out of time—she got to start anew—knowing that this time, she managed to save her coven. (I'd also like to think that the reason we don't see Rio collect Sharon is because it was a peaceful death—joining Mr. Davis instead of suffering further. Whereas Alice finally had something to live for, but I digress. I've already made my posts about Alice.)
I think that this is all relatively obvious—but I genuinely can't stop thinking about Lilia and her dynamics with the rest of the coven.
MCU Timeline: Guardians of the Galaxy
Before creation - six singularities exist.
The Big Bang - the remnants of the six singularities are forged into the Infinity Stones.
~1014-2014 - war between the Kree and the Nova Empire.
Hundreds of years before 2014 - the Tivan Group sends workers to extract organic matter from the skull of a dead celestial being (a place known as Knowhere).
Few months before Meredith Quill's death - she is diagnosed with terminal brain cancer.
2:30 am, ~April, 1988 - the death of Meredith Quill. Her son Peter is abducted by The Ravagers.
Note: based on visual cues, it's either April/May or September. What if? S2 E2 takes place 6 months after the abduction, but still in 1988. It can't be later than September/October, so the match would be April.
1988-2014 - Yondu Udonta raises Peter Quill. Peter becomes the Ravager "known" as Star-Lord.
The main events take place in the summer of 2014.
Since we are not on Earth in this film, there will be no dates or time coordinates. The exact number of days that have passed cannot be determined either, since we are talking about interstellar flights, various celestial bodies and extraterrestrial technologies. Seasons, coordinate systems and the length of the earthly day do not apply here.
Shortly before Day 1 - The Kree Empire and the Nova Empire sign a peace treaty.
Day 1:
Thanos lends Gamora and Nebula to Ronan the Accuser to help him find the Power Stone.
Peter Quill steals the Orb containing the Power Stone from the planet Morag. He is attacked by Ronan's men led by Korath, but manages to escape.
Riots across the Kree Empire protesting the recent peace treaty signed by the Kree Emperor and Xandar's Nova Prime.
Peter dismisses Yondu's demand to give him the Orb, and Yondu puts a bounty on Peter with the condition that he be brought alive.
Ronan awakens on his ship, the Dark Aster, and kills a Nova Corps officer.
Korath returns to the Dark Aster and tells Ronan about the stolen Orb. Ronan sends Gamora to retrieve the artifact.
~Day 2:
On Xandar, Peter fails to sell the Orb to the Broker. He is attacked by Gamora, Rocket, and Groot. They are all eventually arrested by the Nova Corps.
Ronan destroys Xandarian outposts across the galaxy.
The Kree Empire refuses to respond to Ronan's crimes.
Nova Corps officers process Gamora, Quill, Rocket, and Groot and send them to the Kyln prison to await sentencing.
~Day 3:
The four arrive at the Kyln.
Night - prisoners attempt to kill Gamora. Drax the Destroyer intervenes, wanting to do it himself. Gamora is saved by Peter, who offers Drax the chance to kill Ronan instead.
Peter, Gamora, Rocket (and Groot) agree on a plan to escape and sell the Orb to the Collector.
~Day 4:
Other tells Ronan about Gamora's real plan and that Thanos demands his presence at his Sanctuary.
Ronan comes to the Sanctuary and kills Other. Thanos threatens to kill Ronan unless he brings him the Orb. Ronan and Nebula head to the Kyln.
The future Guardians of the Galaxy escape from prison.
They head to the Collector's base on Knowhere.
Ronan and Co arrive at the Kyln just after GotG has escaped the prison. Ronan orders the Necrocraft to be sent after the escapees and kill the guards and prisoners.
Yondu visits the Broker to get information about the Orb's buyer.
The collector orders his slave Carina to clean the display cases containing his "exhibits".
~Day 5:
GotG arrive on Knowhere.
The Collector makes them wait. Peter almost kisses Gamora, Drax and Rocket (and Groot) almost kill each other. Drax leaves drunk and challenges Ronan to a fight.
Tivan finally invites Gamora and Co. He tells them about the Infinity Stones and is about to complete the deal, but Carina touches the Power Stone and it explodes, destroying the place and killing her. Tivan, some of his "exhibits", and GotG survive.
GotG takes the Orb back and finds themselves surrounded by Ronan and Yondu.
Battle of Knowhere.
Ronan's men take the Orb. Quill saves Gamora's life, Groot saves Drax. Quill and Gamora are taken by Yondu.
Ronan learns that the Orb contains the Power Stone and calls Thanos to tell him that he no longer needs his help. Ronan grabs the Stone and places it in his hammer. He then threatens to kill Thanos when he is done with Xandar. Nebula joins him in hopes of revenge.
Peter makes a deal with Yondu to help save Xandar in exchange for the Stone. GotG reunites on the Ravagers' ship.
Peter convinces the others to try to stop Ronan. They come up with a plan.
~Day 6:
Gamora and Quill explain the plan to the Ravagers. Everyone prepares for battle. Quill sends a message to Nova Corps officer Rhomann Dey.
GotG+Ravagers and Ronan approach Xandar.
Rhomann Dey informs Nova Prime of Quill's message.
The Battle of Xandar.
The death of Garthan Saal, a Nova's Denarian, and most of the Nova Corps pilots who participated in the battle.
Drax kills Korath.
Groot sacrifices himself to save his teammates.
Nebula escapes.
The Dark Aster and Milano are destroyed.
GotG annihilate Ronan with the Power Stone.
Peter gives Yondu the orb without the Stone, and the Ravagers fly away.
Rocket picks up a twig left from Groot.
GotG hand the Stone over to the Nova Corps.
For a sufficiently long number of days after:
Nova Corps expunges Guardians' criminal records.
Rhomann Dey is promoted to Denarian.
Nova Prime informs Peter that his father is not from Earth.
Nova gives the team a restored Milano.
Peter finally unwraps his mother's gift with the Awesome Mix vol.2.
From Groot Sr.'s twig grows Groot Jr.
The Guardians leave Xandar.
