Have you heard of queer country singer Orville Peck? His been releasing songs since 2019, but since I don’t listen to country music I’d never heard of him… until today when I came across some nude photos of him. They weren’t selfies leaked by a former boyfriend, but rather campy nudes inspired by vintage physique photos.
His style is a kind of country pop. One of his gimmick has been to wear a leather mask over his eyes. He also had fringe covering the lower part of his face. But over time the fringe got shorter and now he just has the eye mask.
"There's nothing wrong with being a straight white man making country music. But like, babe, we've heard it. we've heard about the truck!"
Peck is originally from South Africa but is currently based in Canada and the US. He performed under his real name Daniel Pitout with a punk band called Nü Sensae. Fans eventually figured out Pitout and Peck were the same person due to his tattoos.
Digging further, I learned he’ll soon be releasing an album of duets with music stars such as Kylie Minogue and Elton John. But the most interesting song is a duet with Willie Nelson. A link to the song is below… it’s all about gay cowboys. I may buy in album just to support a gay artist breaking boundaries.
Here’s a link to a video of Peck and Nelson’s very gay song about Cowboys!

Music ask game: 3, 7 and, because I'm curious, 20! :)
Thanks! ❤️
3. A song you’d choose to introduce someone to your favorite genre
So many candidates for this, but I think it's got to be Teenage Kicks by The Undertones! A classic that contains everything it needs to and nothing it doesn't, in a perfect two and a half minute package.
7. A song you know every word to
Apologies for the reminder of Morrissey existing, but I have to say The Queen is Dead by The Smiths. I'm terrible at parsing song lyrics so I don't actually know them in full for that many songs; I think 14-year-old me probably wrote out the lyrics to this at some point so I could learn them and sing along.
(Attaching the track from the compilation and not the album like I usually would, because this is the CD I listened to it on!)
20. A song you’d put on a playlist for the person who sent you this ask
Oooh, what to choose that I've not either already recommended, or learnt about from you in the first place...! How about: 100 Shades, by Nü Sensae. I found about them because their drummer is a certain Daniel Pitout, aka Orville Peck. A very different genre though!

Orville Peck's 2014 full-frontal nudes for Butt Magazine.
New Post has been published on https://qnews.com.au/orville-pecks-2014-full-frontal-nudes-for-butt-magazine/
Orville Peck's 2014 full-frontal nudes for Butt Magazine.
From the beginning of his country music career, some fans recognised Orville Peck as Daniel Pitout, drummer for the Canadian punk band Nü Sensae. Daniel’s most devoted fans had fond memories of his 2014 nude feature in Butt Magazine.
Born in South Africa, Daniel moved to Canada when he was 15. He did 12 years of ballet as a child and performed in musical theatre. He made a name for himself in Canada as drummer for Nü Sensae before moving to London to study. While in London, he gave an interview to Butt Magazine and also rocked out with his (big, cut) cock out for a nude photoshoot. 🍆

Doubters can compare Daniel and Orville’s tatts. If they are not the same person, they have some remarkably similar tattoos in exactly the same spots. 😮
Anyway, you came for the nude pics so check them out at Reddit.

Blue child, repeat it in your head
Young man, fill yourself with dread
"Come home" the Hexie Mountains said
To begin another end
It don't feel right to see you, friend
"And wouldn't it be nice if I could sleep in my own bed"
The Hexie Mountains said
What happens when the well has dried?
Take me down the dusty side
I can't find the words so I guess it's time
To move on once again
Down the path less tread
"And wouldn't it be nice if I could let the dead stay dead?"
The Hexie Mountains said
Take me far enough to say we're gone
I haven't been out in so long
Noah called to write a song
I'm not saying I'm not scared
That the wind'll blow and stick my stare
But wouldn't it be nice if I could hold it off again?
Wouldn't it be swell if I could get things off my chest?
"Maybe you'd learn to live with what's inside your head"

wait actually the real most important difference between emo/pop punk and country music is what part of daniel pitout’s range he is singing in
that said, i think the same critiques of emo and country are shared as well: both genres found their mainstream rise through appealing to white grievance (especially but not exclusively in the post-9/11 era), both have diy/working-class roots but now cannot be explicated from the corporate media machine and thus cannot be split from their pop music appeal, & both fanbases (no matter how quote-unquote progressive) are invested in instilling a white canon with mere token gestures towards the racial histories and futures of the genre
the most important difference, honestly, is that country music has a much longer history both in and out of the mainstream and is much bigger a genre than emo is
