• Anabelle - Plague maiden from Fyke Island. In love with a local fisherman (Graham) but her father (Lord of Velen) disapproved. During a Nilfgaardian invasion, fled to Fyke Island to hide in a mage tower with her family. Took a paralysis potion to protect herself from assault when peasants stormed the tower, however when she woke she was unable to move, everyone else was dead, and rats descended on them, hence her ghost from a grisly death.

• Anna Strenger - Wife of the Bloody Baron, mother of Tamara Strenger. Fled from the Baron, his drunken rages and beatings, with her daughter. The Crones placed a curse on her which turned her into a monster after making a pact with them to abort her pregnancy, and she is dragged into Crookback Bog to repay her debt.

The carriage coming to a harsh stop is what startled Mahanon awake. It only took him a moment to evaluate his surroundings; Gideon curled against him, his own head against the side of the carriage. He peered outside and saw darkness, but, squinting, could make out the faint lights of the tavern where they would stay for the remainder of the night. He supposed that Josephine would suffer no further marching.  The door swung open, and he was quick to hold a finger up to his mouth to shush Cassandra before she could rouse Gideon from his sleep. She glared, but Mahanon carefully scooped Gideon up into his arms and exited the carriage. He might be shorter than the Herald, but he was far stronger. Gideon was like hoisting a few dandelions in his arms; utterly inconsequential in weighing him down. “We need to speak with the Herald,” Cassandra insisted as Mahanon found his footing on snowy ground. He shook his head. “It can wait until the morning,” he insisted, fighting back a yawn of his own. “It is late. There is nothing that needs to be said that cannot wait for breakfast.” Mahanon moved swiftly inside, and did not give Cassandra any further chance to argue her point. Usually he would prefer to investigate the room himself and deem it safe for Gideon, but exhaustion still tugged on his own eyelids, and Mahanon found himself without much other choice than to trust that the Inquisition soldiers were capable of doing their jobs. He kicked the door closed, laid Gideon in the bed, and then made sure the curtains were drawn.  Gideon could gripe at him about sleeping in their clothes tomorrow. Everything could wait until tomorrow. His complaints about Vivienne’s handmaidens would at least wait until their journey back to Skyhold. Mahanon stripped himself of his armor and slid into the bed, wrapping his arms around Gideon and pressing his face into his back. So many allowances he’d made, he reminded himself, but he could hardly find the presence of mind to be bitter about it when he recalled Gideon’s smile in the fading sunlight.

I'm going to answer this under the cut because I'm doing all five of them (leaving Adahlena and Ilriane out of this, as usual; all seven would have been too many).

💐 BOUQUET - create a bouqet for them! what do those flowers mean? are any of the flowers their particular favourite?

Arianwen Tabris: Wild tansy, bay leaf, aconite (wolfsbane), dragonwort, and blue pimpernel. What a delight to finally make a bouquet for someone who wants everyone else to choke and die! In order: I declare war against you, I change but in death, misanthropy (and again i say: what a move to send someone literal poison so they know you don't like them), horror, and change. As a city girl, I think Wen is a bit suspicious of flowers and plants in general, so idk that she has a favorite (other than loving the dandelions that grow in the cracks of the road).

Maria: Arbor vitae, red chrysanthemums, red poppies, honeysuckle, and white larkspur. Unchanging friendship, love, consolation, generous and devoted affection, and lightness/levity. Going for the classic scarlet/white combo with hers. Her favorite used to be honeysuckle (her father showed her how to eat the center as a treat and she's never forgotten), but later she's very partial to poppies (for, you know. no particular reason c:).

Elowen: Canary grass, celandine, swamp magnolia, purple pansies, christmas rose, and a sprig of weeping willow. Perseverance, joys to come, perseverance again, thoughts, relief of anxiety, and mourning. Oh, Elowen my overthinking beloved. She loves willow trees most (willows are her Thing), and I think she would enjoy the blossoms too (they look really fluffy).

Emmaera: Lavender (of course!), vervain, elfroot, forget-me-nots, rosemary, lupines, and goat's rue. (starting from vervain) Enchantment, healing, true love, remembrance, voraciousness/imagination, and reason. Lavender is her favorite, hands down, but I contest the Victorian flower language meaning (distrust) and exchange it for respite.

Salshira: Sorrel, holly (herb), cranberries, orange and yellow daisies, spanish jasmine, orange ranunculus, and fallen maple leaves. Affection, enchantment, cure for heartache, beauty, sensuality, radiant charm, and reserve. Going for the deep red/white/orange/brown combo here, since she's very fall-themed. Salshira really likes daisies, actually, and would be most charmed by a kind of loosely arranged handful of them instead of an elegant bouquet.

🍼 BABY BOTTLE - what are their thoughts on children?

Arianwen: Loves children, has no interest in making any of her own. Would kill anyone who hurt a child without question or hesitation. Vigil's Keep acquires a variety of orphans during her tenure as Warden Commander and they're sort of collectively raised by the Wardens (though of course she locates an actual tutor to educate them). For the first of them, Amethyne (the little girl you find in the alienage whose mom dies during the Cousland origin), Wen acts as a kind of close aunt (though Zev winds up regarding her as his kid, more or less).

Maria: Loves kids, wants a million of her own. She thinks the wonder of discovery that children still have is a way of feeling young again and has always wanted a huge family.

Elowen: Likes kids in theory, but struggles in practice. The idea of having children is generally foreign to her (though I do have one AU where it happens, for cultural reasons rather than personal preference).

Emmaera: Likes kids, but not very familiar with them because she didn't spend much time with kids her age when she was growing up. Winds up having two children of her own, both of them unplanned, and loves them to pieces.

Salshira: Likes kids, because they're pretty much always asking odd questions that having nothing to do with you or them. Basically the ideal for Salshira, who does not want to talk about herself. Never thought about having a family of her own until she fell in love, ends up wanting to give her children the kind of love and acceptance she never received as a kid. I haven't settled on how many she has, but at least one (Hauen).

☁️ CLOUD - a soft headcanon

Arianwen: Sings to all her animals when they are upset or sick; has a pretty good singing voice, actually.

Maria: Extremely ticklish. Fenris finds this out on accident and the squeal she makes is so surprising that he falls off the bed trying to dodge.

Elowen: Bull said he was into the way dawnstone looks, so she chiseled every little piece she could find out of the hillsides and set the scouts to looking for deposits just so she could custom-order a set of pink armor for him.

Emmaera: It's not a new headcanon, but she hides little notes for Cullen all over his quarters (and later, the manor). Some are simple "I love you"s and others are more specific or practical. She loves surprises and likes giving him simple, sweet surprises as part of his day.

Salshira: Remembers all her friends' favorite foods, colors, songs, etc. and arranges for them to be on hand when they're down or when there's something to celebrate.

✂️ SCISSORS - what is the "last straw" for them to cut someone out of their life? how easily do they let go of people?

Arianwen: So easily. It doesn't take much for Wen to pull the plug, except for a very small group of people she's collected as hers. It would take something monumental for her to cut off someone in her inner circle (Zev, Alistair, and Morrigan would have to do something extremely out of character to make it happen, for example--though I do think Morrigan telling Wen she ought to kill the alienage dwellers for a power boost might have done it. Luckily, she didn't come along for that mission). For everyone else, she is all too happy to cut them off (sometimes, you know, literally).

Maria: Maria has a really hard time letting go, so something really drastic would have to happen for her to be done with someone she considered a close friend. Um. Blowing up most of a city would just about do it, I think.

Elowen: I answered this for her here c:

Emmaera: Emma is extremely logical about her interpersonal relationships. I don't think she'd jump to cut someone off, but her trust is hard to earn and easier to lose. She wouldn't cut someone off entirely unless she thought the negative sides outweighed the positives (she never really forgave Blackwall, for example, but let him stay with the Inquisition until they didn't need him anymore). If someone showed a repeated willingness to hurt innocents or others she cares for, that would do it.

Salshira: Likewise, Salshira has a really hard time letting anyone in, so anyone close to her would have to wade through several layers of obfuscation before they could actually know the real her. This is a defense mechanism, but it also means that she has lots of time to push people away if she's wary of them. Anyone she's really close with is someone she wouldn't let go of easily; she cherishes her found family. Again, it would have to be something pretty heinous or out of character to cut someone off.

💚 GREEN HEART - what things make your oc feel comforted? hugs, kisses, food?

Arianwen: Food is at the top of the list, for sure. Especially something unusual or made especially for her, but she's not very picky. She also likes loose physical contact (leaning against someone, for example) which she can easily get out of if she wants.

Maria: Being held is number one. Maria is always reaching out for other people, and those people reaching back makes her feel fulfilled and safe. She is also a very textural person, so soft, fluffy things bring her comfort, too. Lying on a soft bed in her silk robe while someone (cough cough) holds her is her ideal situation.

Elowen: Quiet company and hot tea. Elowen needs to process before she can talk when she's upset, but she really doesn't want to be alone. When she's ready, someone who will listen to her without judgment is crucial. Being somewhere high in the air with a decent overlook also helps.

Emmaera: Putting things in order makes her feel more comforted. She doesn't want help, but she does want company. When she's thinking or upset, Emma will clean and organize, and by extension her surroundings being reasonably neat is comforting to her. She also finds sunlight and a concrete task to complete comforting, so she gardens in the spring/summer and rakes or shovels snow in the fall and winter. Someone talking things through with her and weighing the pros and cons is comforting.

Salshira: Physical touch for sure. It's the first and easiest way she has to express herself and it's the first thing she looks for when she's upset. Being warm and wrapped in a blanket is second. Also soup---soup is her big comfort food (me too tbh).

Thank you for the tag, Elly @curiouslavellan!! Thalis has sneaking back to the forefront of my mind lately, so this was a perfect exercise for their character 😁💙

Animal: Capybara! This all began because of this video, and I was going to explain it but tbh the tags I wrote back then really sum it all up... Despite the 😈💣🤭 boiling inside of Thalis at all times, on the outside they really do just seem like a very calm and grounded person. Plus, they get along very well with others who could kill them, because... logistically you could kill Thalis Tabris with a bit of legwork, but emotionally?... forget it 😩

Color: A deep and desaturated indigo

Month: September

Song: Morning Glow from Pippin was INSTRUMENTAL to Thalis’ development, so it’ll always hold a special spot in my heart for them 🥺🥺

Number: 4

Day or Night: Night

Plant: Dandelions! I like the association with wishes- Thalis carries a lot of wishes close to their heart, and also helps others’ wishes come true. :’)

Smell: Burning coals, from their years in the forge! I like to imagine that Lisselle has this one soap that smells like pears and Some Kind of Flower (i have yet to figure out which one 🙈) that they are increeedibly partial to, but I don’t think they can ever completely get rid of the smell from the forge. After Thalis blows up that one part of Vigil’s Keep with Dworkin on accident, I feel like all the Wardens joke that they smell like that as an omen of the explosions to come... 😨

Gemstone: Hmm, maybe diamond? They always say diamond is unbreakable and Thalis is seemingly unkillable, so 😆

Season: Fall

Place: A warm bed lit dimly by candlelight 😭🙏🏼

Food: Stew! it’s the Fereldan in them haha 🙈 Once they settle down in Amaranthine, they reconnect with Dilwyn and Gethon, who teach them how to make more Nevarran dishes.

Drink: I’ve honestly never given it much thought, but I feel like a calming tea suits them best..

Astrological Sign: I could not tell you man 😫

Element: Oooh this one was difficult. I think, personality-wise, Thalis is more of an earth person by necessity. In terms of quick associations, though, it’s definitely fire- it weaves itself in and out of Thalis’ life. The burning of the Alienage in their youth almost uproots their entire life, so to gain some stability, they go and work as a blacksmith. Then, of course, there’s the heeheehoohoo of them becoming a grenadier during the Blight. But after that is them saving a burning and besieged Amaranthine with the prospective Wardens from Tevinter, while the already-minted Wardens save the Keep.. Thalis is a calm and grounded person, but fire always seems to be in the distance from them, for better or worse.

My list would be in some ways predictable, but with a twist. It seems that I am a strict monogamist even with my fictional loves, so only #1 will get all the kisses and 2-10 are listed in no particular order and are getting warm hugs and a peck on the cheek as beloved friends!

1) FENRIS from Dragon Age 2 (duh)

Do I even need to explain it? He ‘s the most beautiful collection of pixels I have ever seen. And the way he is written brought me to tears countless times. His background and character arc just hit all my buttons. Broken but not giving up, scarred but sensitive. Caring and loyal, proud and prickly. I just love him, ok? My precious, fluffy white dandelion!

2) SAND from neverwinter Nights 2

The snarky elven lawyer mage every Knight Captain should have at their side. And to think that Obsidian thought at the time that misogynistic evil ranger was a better choice for a LI for this game! Such a shame!

Bioware knows how to make these romances... Valen is basically a 0.5 version of Fenris. A moody warrior, battling his inner rage and resentment, loyal to a fault and protective of those he cares for. Just ask the Seeker. And he’s got a tail, being a tiefling and all!

Precious baby cane boy as @kallielef called him once. I won’t spoil his story for those who haven’t played the game yet. But trust me, it’s to die for. 

Tall, dark and brooding - check! Reading William Blake poetry and dancing instead of taunting enemies - yes, please! 

5) SERANA from TES5 Skyrim

My favourite traveling companion! Her questline is incredible, and the comments she makes on your journeys are delightfully snarky! My bff in Skyrim!

6) ZEVRAN ARAINAI from Dragon Age Origins

Oh look, yet another Bioware romance! Who knew?! 

Have to confess, at first I was put out by his lewd jokes, but being a people pleaser even in games, befriended the elf. And boy, oh boy, did his character arc break my heart to pieces...I won’t be spoiling anything, since a couple of my friends are yet to play Origins (please do, I beg of you!), but Zevran is the sweetest boy and if anything happens to him, I will kill everyone and then myself!

And somewhere he is still mourning my Warden Tabris.... *sniff*

7) ZELGADIS GRAYWORDS from anime series Slayers

Oh look, not an RPG game finally! Another broody, cursed warrior with the heart of gold! Lethy sure has a type... If you haven’t watched Slayers yet, please do! It’s delightfully funny and dramatic!

8) MARTIN SEPTIM from TES4 Oblivion

I just...I... *cries like a baby* 

I was not prepared for how the main quest in the game ended! I grew so attached to humble and intelligent former priest of Akatosh, only to... (spoilers)

9) DEEKIN SCALESINGER from Neverwinter Nights SotU and HotU

Simply the best traveling companion and the most faithful friend you could wish for! *hugs the little kobold bard and kisses his scaly little cheeks* 

Not only he’s a bard, but also a collector of rarities, a writer, and a Red Dragon disciple!

Deekin is the best Bioware companion, hands down!

10) KIAN ALVANE from Dreamfall the Longest Journey

Always admired these quiet warrior types, who are also smart and brave enough to question their beliefs and admit mistakes. His interactions with April Ryan are one the best parts of that game. And the deep philosophical questions they raise about faith, knowledge, loyalty...oof! He’s an incredibly compelling figure, for sure!

I still need to get Dreamfall: Chapters to find out what happens to him next though!

BTV OC Question Time May-June: What would your character consider an 'unforgivable’ act, regardless of time or punishment? ... and ... What is your character’s favourite flower? What does it mean in the ‘Language of Flowers’?

BTV OC Questions (May/June)

The more I thought about it, the more I realized all these guys agree on similar things for the “unforgivable acts” question --- and that boils down to, essentially, kicking people that are already down, betraying those that trust you, or allowing evil to go unpunished if it was possible for you to stop it. They hold themselves accountable to these, too. Lyanna especially realizes she was blind to a lot of things other nobles did (even nobles she considered her friends!) and she pays far more attention to how servants are treated after returning to the court. 

As an example, Loghain was guilty of all three of those: he betrayed Cailan and the Wardens, he allowed Arl Howe to do terrible things, and he took advantage of situations where people were already suffering for his own personal gains.

As for favorite flowers + meanings...

Lyanna Cousland: Roses. These represent “love.” If they have thorns, they can also mean “respect.” The color matters, too, though: a single red rose represents passionate, romantic love --- and this is the sort that she got from Alistair. Blue roses (which don’t occur naturally) are another of her favorites and represent things like attaining the impossible, the power of manipulation, new beginnings, and love at first sight.

Dirk Tabris: Asters, especially red ones. These represent remembrance, fidelity in love, and passion. They are sometimes associated with the death or the end of a cycle because they bloom in autumn... but also rebirth and new beginnings, because the roots survive even when the plant fades in winter and new flowers return in the spring. (So, literally, “deep roots are not reached by the frost.”)

Fahren Mahariel: Gladiolus, specifically the “abyssinian gladiolus” --- also commonly known as a “sword lily” and my best guess at what the in-game “wilds flower” might be. There’s a lot of meanings for this flower, but the main ones are remembrance, honor, integrity, grace, and never giving up. They’re associated with warriors because of their sword-shaped petals --- and the blood-red center of this variety also speaks of someone willing to bleed for those they love.

Mari Hawke: Dandelions. She loves them because they’re beautiful, tenacious weeds (and it’s fun to watch the seeds go drifting.) They represent healing from pain, the sun’s warmth, survival through challenges and difficulties, and having your wishes fulfilled.

Ash Lavellan: Yarrow. He thinks the flowers are pretty, but he likes the plant for it’s practical uses --- it can be used to make a tea that helps stomach ailments, or made into a balm that soothes burns and wounds. It’s meaning is directly tied to it’s use: healing and protection.

FOLLOWER MILESTONE

As of today Persephone’s Parlour has reached 400 followers.

When I remade after that toxic breakup fiasco a few years ago I never could have imagined to find so many wonderful people who’d follow me when I’m blogging about my OCs, Fashion, Opera, Merlin and so on and so forth.

Some of you are friends going back all the way to the BSN (IE @knightofphoenix and @merilsell) others I’ve met on YT (IE @mloreley my fave LPer of all time) and one even dates back to my writing days on LJ (Hi @nikichidon). 

ALL of you are people I’m extremely proud to call my friends. ALL of you are incredibly patient with my multi-fandom blogging (Bless you @freifraufischer I’m still here for Regina, our queen!) ALL of you are incredibly kind, talented and loving people.

But none of this would have been possible without my friend @dandelion-warrior who not only was my rock and my protector in the difficult months and years after the breakup and who offered precious advice, hugs, love and support during that emotional roller coaster. It is thanks to her I was able to shed the abusive conditioning and create fan-ish stuff, esp. OCs, without wishing to please but because theirs are the stories I wish to tell. Without her, Desideria Hawke, Drusilla Trevelyan, Theresa Chiara Ryder and Olivia Rumaryn would not exist. Without her the Rhia ‘Verse would be so much emptier (Eluned Mahariel was created during that time and her role being given to one vacated by another OC who wasn’t mine and all but took over the ‘verse was a major step towards recovery) and important layers in the world building just wouldn’t exist. Myrna Tabris being the Hero of the Alienage rather than waiting for a shem to save the day for example. Tara Surana and Erlina being raised to the peerage is another. Eluned Mahariel marrying Queen Anora and thus becoming and elvhen Queen is yet another.

Also, a special shoutout must go to @imperiius my sweet Tumblr wife and the best friend a gal ever had.

And also a shoutout to the newest of the Parlour family @obvidalous. I’m delighted to be mutuals with you and can’t wait to gush about ME:A and our smuggler husband together!

All that said, I am just so thankful  and feel blessed that you guys are there with me. When I had an episode of depression after a pain attack I knew you guys would be there for me. There’s nothing I can ever do or say to repay all of your support, love for me and my OC daughters and staying by my side through thick and thin.

Today was rough (I’ll explain later in a separate post) but my Dash is such a comfort zone to me now like it never was before. I never have to deliver or perform, I can just be me, gushing about what or whom I love and you guys cheer me on with every Like, Reblog, tag and kind word.

As I can’t draw or write very well I don’t know if I can do a milestone giveaway but I might just to a story giveaway and promote a few mutuals who have been a lifeline of love and support.

I humbly want to offer thanks and if ever you need anything, even if it’s just a listening ear or a shoulder to cry on, remember I have two of each available.

The Witcher's Zodiacs

I’ve gotten a few requests to do this and I’ve finally gotten around to it! Of course, none of these are scientifically proven, and it’s merely based on strict character analysis following the claimed character traits of the zodiac signs, and where each of these characters would most likely fit in. 

What are my credentials? Well, I used to write weekly articles of the zodiac signs for a long time during my graduation year, it was only a bit of fun as I really love analyzing people, their personalities and behaviors. 

With that said, if you ever wondered which of these characters YOU’D be compatible with, or is just generally curious about it, here is my analysis, conclusions and a short little description of each sign.
