Hello Everyone, Here Is Michael Dunlop At Braddan Bridge At The Isle Of Man TT 2018, Michael Won The Opening Superbike Race Of TT 2018 & In Doing So Paid Tribute To Isle Of Man Rider Dan Kneen, Who Died In A Crash During Practice Week (R.I.P) Dan.

That Win Would Be Michael's 16th TT Win, He Would Add Two More During Race Week, But A Setup Change Would Hamper His Senior TT Race As The Bike Looked Unstable At Most Time's, So Understandably Michael Backed Off.

Dan Kneen returns to the Tyco BMW team to challenge the roads in 2018

Tyco BMW is delighted to welcome Dan Kneen back to the TAS Racing family aboard the BMW S1000RR for their 2018 roads campaign.

Following a superb performance from the Maxman at the Ulster GP earlier in the year, where he secured two podium finishes and the fastest lap ever recorded on BMW Motorrad machinery, the team is excited to be working with the experienced 30 year old Bradden rider and is looking forward to a successful year ahead.

Philip Neill – Team manager: “We enjoy the challenge of helping riders achieve their full potential and with Dan we are excited about the next chapter in the TAS Racing story. At this year’s UGP we witnessed a glimpse of Dan’s undoubtable talent, and that was with only one afternoon testing the Tyco BMW. That one opportunity was enough however, to confirm that Dan will fit in perfectly at TAS Racing; and if we add in his experience riding the BMW S1000RR – we are all looking forward to seeing what he can achieve with a full testing programme on TAS Racing prepared Tyco BMW’s in 2018. That full test and race programme will be confirmed in the New Year.””

Bad weather halts practice at the Isle Of Man TT

FRUSTRATING QUALIFYING SESSION AT 2017 ISLE OF MAN TT RACES FUELLED BY MONSTER ENERGY AS WEATHER CLOSES IN

Isle of Man TT 2017 second qualifying session Wednesday, 31. May. 2017

The second qualifying session for the 2017 Isle of Man TT Races fuelled by Monster Energy took place on Wednesday evening although weather conditions meant it was a truncated session with riders completing just one full lap.

The original intention by Clerk of the Course Gary Thompson, anticipating the deteriorating conditions, was to run additional laps at full speed to Ramsey Hairpin before red flagging the riders and escorting them over the Mountain but low mist even curtailed that attempt to establish qualifying laps and give the riders time on the track.

In the limited session that was available Ian Hutchinson and Michael Dunlop again set the pace with the Tyco BMW of Hutchinson edging out the Bennetts Suzuki of Dunlop, 128.98mph to 127.23mph.

First time club racing this year. Anglesey Circuit in North Wales is a cracking track, if a little remote and is one of my favourites. Bit of a foggy test day which resulted in a delayed start but finally got a good set up on the 959 ready for two days of racing. 

The format has changed slightly with the club. All classes now have a 15 minute qualifying session on Saturday to gain a grid position for a further three races over the course of the weekend. 

I was running in two classes. The Open which as the name suggests is open to any machine and the Sound of Thunder which is open to twin cylinder and three cylinder machines. 

Due to cancellations of various early season meetings for climatic conditions the Anglesey paddock was busy. Many of the road racers were there getting signatures to qualify them for the road season. Top names like Dan Kneen, Ivan Lintin, Daley Mathison and Jamie Coward were all in attendance. 

Having never ridden the Welsh circuit on the new 959 I was looking forward to seeing how it compared to the 899 around there. The circuit is grippy and quite technical but still has some very fast sections. The 959 coped well and wasn’t too hard on tyres. I use the club meetings to try and learn a little about the bike and make some progress with set up to  help with the National meetings. Plus it’s good fun in a slightly more relaxed environment with a good mix of bikes and people. 

I never really used the traction control on the 899 but the 959 has just that little bit more power so I am trying to learn to use it in all conditions to help me stay upright as well as go that little bit quicker. I used it a lot over the three days at Anglesey and feel like I’ve made a bit of a step forward in training my brain to use it to my advantage. Although my lap times weren’t as quick as I’d hoped I still had some very good results given the company I was keeping. 

Qualifying aside I had three wins in the Sound of Thunder and 11th, 3rd (wet race) and 8th in the Open class. 

My teammates also made progress with the sidecar and ended up 2nd on the Sunday with some very good lap times considering they had never been there before and are still learning to get around on the trike!
