Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec (1864-1901)
Toulouse-Lautrec drank constantly and slept little. After a long night of drawing and binge-drinking, he would often wake early to print lithographs, then head to a café for lunch and several glasses of wine. Returning to his studio, he would take a nap to sleep off the wine, then paint until the late afternoon, when it was time for aperitifs.
(One of his inventions was the Maiden Blush, a combination of absinthe, mandarin, bitters, red wine, and champagne. He wanted the sensation, he said, of “a peacock’s tail in the mouth.”)

🗓️ Organizing Your Witchy Rituals 🌙✨
Hello darlings 🥰
It is easy to feel overwhelmed by all the witchy things you’d like to do, so creating a schedule for your witchy rituals can bring structure and balance to your practice. Here's a suggested weekly timetable to inspire you:
🌕 Monday: Moon Magic On Mondays, align your practice with the energy of the moon. Perform rituals for manifestation, divination, or connecting with your intuition. Charge and cleanse your crystals under the moonlight.
🌿 Tuesday: Herb and Plant Magic Dedicate Tuesdays to working with herbs and plants. This can involve creating herbal remedies, growing your magical herb garden, or connecting with the spirit of plants through meditation and nature walks.
🔥 Wednesday: Elemental Magic Explore the power of the elements on Wednesdays. Work with fire for transformation, air for communication and clarity, water for emotions and intuition, and earth for grounding and stability. Incorporate rituals that honor and connect with each element.
🔮 Thursday: Divination and Spellcasting On Thursdays, focus on divination and spellcasting. Use tarot cards, oracle decks, or other divination tools to gain insight and guidance. Perform spellwork to manifest your desires and bring positive change into your life.
✨ Friday: Self-Care and Enchantment Fridays are dedicated to self-care and enchantment. Take time to pamper yourself with magical baths, create sacred spaces, or explore beauty rituals that enhance your inner and outer radiance. Practice self-love and self-empowerment spells.
🌟 Saturday: Spirituality and Connection Saturdays are perfect for deepening your spiritual practice and connecting with the divine. Engage in meditation, explore different spiritual traditions, work on your energy healing techniques, or perform rituals to connect with your spirit guides or ancestors.
📚 Sunday: Study and Reflection Use Sundays for studying and reflecting on your magical path. Dive into books, online resources, or courses that expand your knowledge of witchcraft, spirituality, or esoteric subjects. Journal about your experiences, insights, and personal growth.

A healthy and effective schedule will always be unique to you, but I hope this guideline will inspire you to take more control of your time as a practicing witch 🥰✨

Let Ganapati remove obstacles, Bala steady your lifestyle, Ashwarooda protect work and society, Sampatkari bring wealth, let Varahi remove enemies and steady senses, let Matangi steady mind and siddhis, then get to Sowbhagya Vidya of Lalitha so that family and overall prosperity. With all key areas covered and well protected, by supporting energy forces, then get to Shodashi, to dettach, without impacting anything attached. Every system of Mahavidya has a proper Krama.

My view during my "morning ritual"
Sipping coffee i brewed with good intentions, beside the minimalist household altar (not shown). With my cat in my lap or on the floor in his play area by my feet.
I think about what needs to be accomplished. What I'm thankful for. I center and ground myself. I think about my affirmations or my moon intention I'm working on. I listen to nature sounds using my self care app, Finch. Or, I just pet Ozzy. Which in itself is a blessing.
Ritual doesn't need to be complex. Sometimes I do all of these things. Other times, I just appreciate my cool house and a cat in my lap.

so here's Auntie Elena's life advice for today:
Pick a small thing you view as "special" and try to do it every day. Set your own realistic time frame--is this something you could do every day for a week? A month? A whole season?
And no "thing" is too small, either. I used to view milk tea as a treat, because I'm dairy-free, and nondairy milk is generally pretty expensive, and I thought that meant I shouldn't have it all the time. But then the big jug of oat milk was on sale one week, and I thought, "sure why not" and I bought it and started making myself milk tea every morning.
I've been doing it now for two months. Every day. My "expensive" milk goes really far when I'm mostly using it for tea, it doesn't spoil as fast as dairy milk so it's not actually more expensive in the long run, and my tea-making is now a comforting, enjoyable morning ritual.
My example is a drink, but it doesn't have to be that, or food, or even anything consumable. Do you want more nature? Take a walk every day, and don't make it about the exercise, but about the experience. Do you have pretty jewelry you barely wear? Wear it! You already have it!
What's one small thing you wish you could do every day, that you aren't already doing?
When you've answered that, ask yourself, why not? What's actually stopping me?

This was a fun book to read. I just read a few entries whenever I felt like it. I was especially intrigued by Buckminster Fuller's routine. He was active for six hours, then took a 30-minute nap, around the clock. That's about as close as you can get to living 24 hours a day.
Fuller's routine has inspired me to find one of my own. I have some time coming up when I can play with my daily schedule. I'm going to get up at four a.m. and write until eight a.m. Then I'll have a nap. I'll set my alarm for ten a.m., but if I wake before then I will rise and go about my day of regular activities. I am hoping I wake prior to ten a.m., but I'll not push myself too hard. The really important part of this schedule is having four hours of uninterrupted fiction writing time.

Jane Austen (1775–1817) Austen never lived alone and had little expectation of solitude in her daily life. Her final home, a cottage in the village of Chawton, England, was no exception: she lived there with her mother, her sister, a close friend, and three servants, and there was a steady stream of visitors, often unannounced. ...
Austen wrote in the family sitting room, “subject to all kinds of casual interruptions,” her nephew recalled. She was careful that her occupation should not be suspected by servants, or visitors, or any persons beyond her own family party. She wrote upon small sheets of paper which could easily be put away, or covered with a piece of blotting paper. There was, between the front door and the offices, a swing door which creaked when it was opened; but she objected to having this little inconvenience remedied, because it gave her notice when anyone was coming. “Composition seems to me impossible with a head full of joints of mutton & doses of rhubarb.” From Daily rituals by Mason Currey

Daily Draw - 1/5/23 - Sacred Rebels Oracle (Alana Fairchild)
43 - Come To Life
Tumblr media
Not a card I've drawn before, but I do rather love the imagery. She's painting herself in colour, using her own agency to make herself alive. I can't help but see the monkey as an avatar of Djehuty, and the crow/bird as Hekate. I love the detail of the small tufts of grass poking up through the tiles. The butterflies, too, are a common symbol of transformation.
There's a lot of challenge in this card for me, bc I am often good at putting off things I ought to do out of dumb fears my brain has about things not going well, or going too well, so I just don't do them. But at least this card pull has spurred me on to do a couple of things I've been putting off, and it does remind me that I'm the one in charge of my life. If it's shit, well, what are you going to do about that to make it not shit? Sure, some things are outside of my control, but there's still some things I can control, and tbh, even though I did have a bit of a low period today for various reasons *gestures at the world* I still feel good about where I'm going.
I feel good about the routine I'm making, too. My brain doesn't want to push against it. Even though we had ppl over for tea, and maybe I got to my rites later than I would have liked, I still did them. I wanted to do them. And that, to me, is a sign I've got this working right.
For so long over the past four years, I've often felt so disconnected from my gods and my practice. And to feel that connection again? To feel daily rites finally come easy to me again after so many years of it just failing on me? That's a good feeling. Fandom can keep me going, but the gods are what truly nourish me.
And this card, like so many things in my life right now, is just poking at me to Do The Things. bc sometimes I do need poking. But this card in particular talks about letting everything just flow, and expressing myself through journalling or other creative expressions. To let the emotions be felt. And I def think that's part of why I wanted to do my daily draws this way. To actually sit down and write out my own thoughts and reflections on the cards and their meanings, bc I am so frequently shit at this kind of thing on my own. Ask me to journal my feels, and I won't be able to manage it. But having a prompt in the form of a card is definitely the framework I needed. And being able to just share these on tumblr as well makes it easy. I don't need a fancy notebook. Don't need to fret about what happens when I fill up a notebook and where to store them. Just post here, and write, and let everything flow out as it wants to.
The oracle finishes with this:
"The message of this card is 'Be alive!" Don't imagine you can go back to sleep. You are too awake for that now. There is no falling back into odl ways. If you do so, it will be short lived and won't feel the same as it used to. You may grieve this. You will certainly (eventually) celebrate it. You have crossed the threshold from an old way of being in an old life and try as you might, you cannot return. It is better to let it go. Grieve if needs be, celebrate if needs be or do both and move on into thei moment. Ther eis another adventure awaiting you now. You need a deeper connection to your own instincts, body, feelings, and intuitions so that you can receive this new calling. You can trust in it, too. Embrace it and it will embrace you."
And like, if that doesn't sum up the entirety of where I am now, well. I do feel this has been in progress since the pandemic hit, though. It brought on necessary changes that I'd been too scared to adopt or to try for, things that I needed to be forced into doing. It's why I call myself Lex now. I'd grown out of Sasha. They served me well for a very long time, but it's not who I am anymore.
And I keep thinking of a line I wrote in a transfic a while ago, "I don't know how to be that version of me yet." bc that's still so true for me. I'm in this odd place of knowing, and not knowing, and fighting against barriers not of my own making that make it difficult for me to really thrive. I don't know how to be me yet. But I can't go back. I am who I am now, and that's just how things are.
And I do feel that. I feel those urges to Do Things and push and get myself unstuck. It just sometimes feels like the hardest thing in the world to do. Maybe, with time, it won't feel so hard. idk.
(also that transfic linked about is like, allllll my pandemic gender feels compressed into like 4k words of fic about block game men so. *throws hands up*) (I also think it's arguably one of the best things I've ever written)

Pop Culture 3, Quarters Project
Tumblr media
I started doing this for fun just for the sake of it. The format is pretty clear. I try to post semi daily, 4 photos that I have all taken the day I post them. They vagely interact in one way or another, wether thematiclaly or color wise. Sometimes they dont. It has to be an image that I took, and I keep faces and full figure people out of it. And there is always a song to go along with it. It either interacts thematically with what is in the photos, or it's a song that I was listening to over and over again that day. The music icon has to be in the middle of the 4 images, almost like the uniting thing between all of them. I've been doing this since september 5th with no intention of stopping.
All of the stories, up to date can be seen on my instagram, under the highlight "Quarters"
https://www.instagram.com/errorinspace/
It started when one day I had a few photos of 4 mechanical looking things, so i posted them to a song called mechanical something and then I just decided to keep going.
Tumblr media
To be honest this continued because realized it's the perfect format to use the fact that I listen to a lot of music and I wanted to be able to capture that in a format that is easy to do daily. Low effort, high satisfaction.
I think it's intersting to use instagram stories as my medium. The project has a lot of potential to be hit or miss. Some people pay attention to what other people post on their stories, content and music wise. Some people scroll mindlessly. I'm the first type of person, clearly since I'm doing this project. For now I'm not sure how this affects the project but I want to acknowledge the dynamic
All of the stories to date can be seen on my instagram page, under the highlight "Quarters"
I tried to upload a full video of all the quarters, with the music played in full, up to the current date, 19th of October 2024, but it's 8 minutes long and crashed my tumblr the first time I tried to upload it.
I'm intrested to see where it goes or how I continue this project or how it evolves. I didnt start it with an intention of making it a big thing, but it jsut felt natural to do so. I also never intended to show this as a class project since it felt like it was just for my own enjoyment, but I've been trying to cut more corners and take less pressure off myself to work. So this was a happy desicion for me.
Now "Quarters" has become a daily ritual for me, at the end of the day I go through and look at the photos I took on my phone that day, sometimes it really is just 4, and then think of what song I listened to the most, or what fits for those 4 photos. It's been nice and therapeutic to do such a low effort project.

How does one philosophically approach the question of a squeaky clean conscience after washing the dishes?
The simple act of washing dishes, a mundane chore in the daily routine, can serve as a profound metaphor for examining the state of our conscience. Just as we scrub away the grime and residue from plates and utensils, we can contemplate the process of cleansing our moral and ethical selves. This article explores how one might philosophically approach the concept of achieving a squeaky clean…

Daily Spiritual Practices: How Small Rituals and Habits Can Shape Your Life
When we think about living a spiritually aligned life, it can feel overwhelming—like we need to dedicate hours every day to rituals, meditation, or journaling to really make a difference. But here’s the secret: it’s the small, daily habits that matter most.
These tiny, consistent actions create a foundation that either helps us live the life we want or keeps us stuck reacting to whatever life throws at us.
Think about it this way: we’re all either on offense or defense in our lives. When we're on offense, we’re calling the shots. We know our goals, we have a plan, and we’re actively working towards what we want.
On the flip side, when we’re living defensively, we’re just reacting—letting life happen to us, dealing with challenges as they come, without any clear direction.
The difference between these two mindsets? It often comes down to the daily rituals and habits we practice.
Why Small Habits Matter
We tend to think that big, dramatic changes are the ones that will shift our lives. And while those moments can be powerful, it’s the small, repetitive habits we build over time that create real, lasting transformation.
Imagine starting your day with a few minutes of intentional breathing, setting an intention for the day, or even lighting a candle and expressing gratitude.
These might seem like small acts, but over time, they create an inner stability that grounds you, aligns you with your purpose, and keeps you focused on what truly matters.

Offense vs. Defense
When you develop spiritual habits, you take control of your energy and your focus. You’re no longer living reactively—letting external situations dictate how you feel or what you do. Instead, you’re living proactively, guiding your energy in the direction that aligns with your goals and values.
For example, if you make a habit of starting your day with a ritual—like pulling a tarot card, meditating, or writing in a manifestation journal—you’re actively setting the tone for your day.
You’re deciding what kind of energy you want to cultivate, what you want to focus on, and how you’re going to approach challenges.
You’re putting yourself on offense, ready to score your goals, rather than waiting for life to throw obstacles in your path.
Examples of Daily Spiritual Practices
Here are a few simple yet powerful daily spiritual practices you can incorporate into your life to keep yourself aligned and in control:
Morning Meditation or Breathwork Just 5-10 minutes of stillness each morning can help you tune in to your inner self and set the tone for the day.
Setting Daily Intentions Before you dive into your to-do list, take a moment to decide how you want to show up today. What energy do you want to bring into the world?
Gratitude Practice Write down three things you’re grateful for each morning or evening. This small habit shifts your focus to abundance, helping you stay positive and open to new opportunities.
Evening Reflection At the end of the day, take a few minutes to reflect on how the day went. Did you stay aligned with your intentions? What can you improve tomorrow?
Connecting with Nature Whether it’s a walk outside, sitting in the sun for a few minutes, or simply breathing fresh air, grounding yourself in nature helps realign your energy with the earth.
Tumblr media

Building a Life You Want to Live
Incorporating these small rituals into your daily life creates a ripple effect. When you regularly check in with yourself, set intentions, and practice gratitude, you’re training your mind and spirit to focus on what matters.
Over time, this practice empowers you to make decisions that align with your highest self, rather than reacting impulsively to whatever life throws at you.
This doesn’t mean you won’t face challenges. But when they come, you’ll be prepared.
You’ll be living from a place of inner strength, spiritual alignment, and clarity about what you want. You’ll be on offense, making intentional choices that move you toward the life you want to create.
The Power of Choice
The most powerful thing about daily spiritual practices is that they remind us we have a choice. Every day, we get to choose how we show up. We get to decide whether we’re living intentionally or letting life control us.
And it’s the small, seemingly insignificant habits that shape that choice.
So start small. Pick one or two practices that resonate with you and make them part of your routine. With time, you’ll notice how these simple rituals help you stay grounded, empowered, and aligned with your true purpose.
Remember, you’re in control of your life. The daily habits you build are your spiritual tools to stay on offense, live with purpose, and score the goals that matter to you.
May the sacred energies that surround us all guide and protect you always, Diana
