oh you're taking daanlevi requests? i have one, but it might be a little ooc. how about levi desperately needing daan - not in a lewd way, but seeing him as the one singular good thing he's had in years. needing his affection/attention that he gets really annoyed when anyone other than daan tries to talk to him? and he doesn't understand why he feels like that. just intensely clingy for him. and daan needing to be needed. YOU CAN DO WHATEVER U LIKE WITH THIS I BELIEVE IN U
AHGShgasj Thank you for believing in me!! This is a really interesting flavour to bring to Levi, it's nothing something I'm very used to writing but through the power of requests and drabbles I can get more comfortable with writing something I wouldn’t do myself without a lot of prior buildup! I based this off the day 3 event where Karin confronts August but is shot by him (Video Link)
“You over there, take care of her wounds” was the last thing the older man said before fleeing the scene.
By the time Daan caught up to them short of breath from climbing the sets of stairs on his injured leg, Karin had already been shot. Arrow embedded deep into her shoulder, trickles of blood seeping through the thick fleece of her jacket.
“What are you two staring at!? Go after him!” she broke the shocked silence between them all.
“No, we can’t leave you like that” Daan said firmly, pushing past Levi to rush to Karin’s side and tend to her wounds.
Levi grabbed him by the sleeve of his shirt. Daan shot a look back at him, it showed confusion but all he saw in it was disapproval and ire. Normally he’d have let go and apologized in shame but something stirred in him that made him double down instead. He held firm and tugged Daan towards the direction the bow and arrow wielding man had run off to.
“He knows something… We need to catch him,” he stressed.
“You’ve seen the way he jumps around he’s long gone by now, besides she could die from a wound like this” Daan retorted, turning his attention away from Levi back to Karin.
“If I say I’m fine it means I’m fine! What do you know anyways you fraud doctor?! Get going already!” She barked between deep panting breaths.
“More than you Miss Sauer. If I find you to be fine we can all go chase after him together but I need to check you first to know” Daan moved towards her but Levi pulled him back.
“We don’t have time…” Levi insisted “You don’t stop marching once a single soldier is down.”
“It’s might not be the soldiers job but it is the medics-”
“For fucks sake! Would you two stop arguing and. just. GO. AFTER. HIM!” she yelled, her face getting paler by the second.
“If you feel that strongly about it then you’re free to go after him yourself, I’m needed here” Daan finally pulled himself out of Levi’s grasp and rushed to treat an uncooperative Karin.
Levi didn’t chase after the man, he hadn’t even really believed any of the things he’d argued for, not even that the older man would know something that would actually help their situation. He was only human after all, same as them. If he could have left this nightmare he would have by now.
Instead he finds himself frozen before the scene in front of him, unable to look away from Daan doting on Karin no matter how sour it made him feel.
Daan fished a blue vial out of his pocket and popped the lid off, before he could pour it down her lips she snatched the vial with her uninjured arm for herself.
“I can do it myself” she grumbled, swigging down the contents. Both Levi and Karin found themselves sighing in momentary relief.
Levi started to feel sick with himself. Of course all those times Daan had patched up Levi’s bullet wounds and lacerations the past few days they travelled together weren’t special. He was a doctor, it was just his job, he felt stupid for getting upset about it. Guilt didn’t supersede his bitterness, it mixed uncomfortably with it.
As Daan wrapped and secured the arrow to her shoulder Karin’s breaths got shorter and quicker, almost hyperventilating. Daan had said he was needed here, it was undoubtable that he was… But Levi needed him too.
“Levi, do you have any blue vials on you?” Daan asked not turning to look at who he was addressing.
“No…” he didn’t bother checking, Daan carried most of their stuff anyways, what would be the point when he knew he wouldn’t find anything.
He didn’t want Karin to die but he didn’t see the point in any of this, she’d be dead by the end of the day, they all would be when their time ran out. Leaving her wouldn’t be the same as killing her, he hadn’t wanted to kill her when he tried to get Daan to leave her behind. He couldn’t understand why he’d wanted to leave her behind but that couldn’t be the reason, it had to be something else. He’d promised himself he was done killing, that he’d never wanted to in the first place.
It gnawed at him, his inability to defend himself from his own thoughts. Daan was more perceptive than he could ever hope to be, he could have seen through it all, not liked what he’d seen. Maybe that was why he wouldn’t even look at him.
“Fuck… She’s gone into shock, it’s not ideal but we need to get her somewhere safer than this. Since you’re still here you can help me carry her to the jazz club.”
“...” More than anything Levi just felt like running away.
“Levi please, I know it’s been a long three days. I know how hard it is not to let yourself slip but I can’t do this without you. I need your help with this. Please help me save her, let me at least try”
He swallowed down all his weird feelings. He didn’t want to disappoint Daan anymore than he already had, not when he needed him.

u and ur tattle tale anons need to grow up. none of u need to visit l chat when u clealry hate the place. if u people didn't encourage that annoying beth mead stan 90% of the ellie trolling there wouldn't even happen. u and ur anons bait and feed her and it makes the trolling against ellie and daan worse but u do it so u can play victim and get ur sassy, snarky little digs in. u have to admit ur own role in perpetuating the abuse too. take a good hard look in the mirror and reflect on what u could do differently.
So many projections and assumptions on this ask, LMAO. Time for an I Ain’t Reading All That response, but you asked for it.
1. Why would I go on LChat? Not that I care to vlog my every day life, but there’s so much more to my world than wasting my time with barbarians on an anonymous, clamorous environment like LChat. I’m not attached enough to sport or faceless discourse to write full think pieces on the internet–of all places–when I can have civilized conversations with football fans offline, who don’t care for such things either.
2. I’ve always been transparent about my staunch distaste for certain systemic ideologies, long before Mead has revealed her nature btw. Club rivalry aside, I’ve expressed my disappointment and disapproval for her politics and Arsenal stan culture, but beyond that, realize I have her muted because I don’t trust her self-censure abilities. You’ll find I don’t have to make any serious effort toward keeping up with what doesn’t pique my interest, or anybody I don’t even find physically and morally attractive. She blows up anyway because she’s behind the steering wheel and buries herself in controversies. TLDR: Anything I know of her, I know against my will. She’s not interesting enough to even bait and typing this up is the most I’ve cared.
3. “If you people didn’t encourage…the Beth stan wouldn’t…” Be for fucking real sweetheart. Beth stans are relentlessly obsessive of Ellie/Daan and that’s unequivocally on them to stop consuming content they know triggers them, LOL. (And why should that trigger them?) These are full grown adults, as are you apparently. I’m honored though how you’ve shifted this responsibility to me.
4. One quick Twitter search will tell you no fan ever needed my encouragement. 1.5K quote tweets on an Arsenal team photo will tell you people with any working mind are antagonized all on their own accord.
Maybe Mead should change her politics? If it affects you so deeply, maybe you should spend less time on LChat? Maybe LChat should do better to tighten up security. Maybe take your own advice and take a hard look in the mirror than whine about the clicks that led you to your computer screen? Be a bit more proactive, yeah? Ignore what you don’t want to see and go out more? Maybe you and any other stan in shambles should hop off my dick and stop inviting yourselves and your narratives into people’s relationships and spaces that aren’t your own? Maybe you all need to learn to look at couples and contrasting opinions without taking it so personally? Maybe you should just stop being offended?
Utilize the block button more, baby. If I’m known for my strong opinions and everyone knows this is my politics, then why deliberately camp on my silly little blog anyway? Why become so distraught when other people find politics like that oppressive and offensive? Am I supposed to “stan” someone I don’t agree with? Should I refrain from voicing my opinions so you don’t cry about it at night? Why should everyone remain the same but it is only I who should change for someone like you? Who made you god?
Anyway, back to my cooking lmao feel free to screenshot and reread as needed. Whatever gets through the crevices of your skull.

omg Prehevil days is such a cool concept. I'm already imagining a bunch of roles for each character.
Levi is the barely functioning student whose nervous ticks come from anxiety and Adderall and you have to give him hot chocolate or something for him to feel calm enough to talk to you.
Marina is the occultist student whose date events range from shopping for cute clothes to going to every haunted spot in the university.
Daan is the overly exhausted medical student that sometimes joins Marina and Levi in exploring haunted areas. You have to somehow resolve his melodrama with Elise to even consider dating him.
Karin is the typical tsundere who is also in charge of the newspaper club in the university. I can already imagine you as the player dragging her out of her work to enjoy the sunrise.
Abella is the buff mechanic that everyone looks for to fix their stuff and is happy to do so. You can talk about all kinds of things with her until you reach late into her route that you realize that you know nothing about her.
Olivia is the shy botanist girl that goes into ramblings when you're interested in her studies. She is also surprisingly good at shooter games and making blunts.
Marcoh is the gruff looking guy that everyone initially avoids. Turns out he volunteers at a pet shelter and is in the university on a sports scholarship. He also loves his sister and disapproves of any of her boyfriends.
You've already figured out Osaa's role lol
Anyway this is all I can think of. Might add more. Love to hear your thoughts.
If you could change/add anything to funger, what would it be?
I would probably make it so that every playable character is capable of achieving ending a with all survivors except the player. It just doesn't feel fair that Abella has to be the one to be sacrificed for everyone else to be saved. (Osaa doesn't really count because you only save August because of a glitch and you have to get it all done within day 1)
in terms of major shit i would add: PREHEVIL DAYS—basically Dungeon Nights but w the termina cast in a university setting.
other than giving me the ability to date abella and karin, this would be a great opportunity to add characters we know less about like reila or—hell—elise or the baron without compromising on what’s in the game.
like, we barely know or are able to connect with reila even though she makes a really big sacrifice, and itd be cool to actually get to know her and feel something when she becomes Logic. like the girl in the first game
i can see why it wouldn’t become a thing though—14 characters is way more complicated and i’d imagine it’s not gonna be great to give each player-character pairing the same route (esp given the greater age gap between characters compared to Funger 1 and also caligura existing).
if it did become a thing ever somehow, i could see Mr. Haverinen implementing unique routes for ever player-character pairing, taking into account the character interactions from the game. maybe certain pairings would guarantee an easier or more difficult ending or something, not sure.
if need be, I Will SingleHandedly Draw Every Fucking Sprite and Write Every Piece Of Dialogue For That Shit. Prehevil Days everyone.
additionally, i think a piano minigame at PRHBL Bop and maybe a fishing minigame would be excellent additions to the game. pointless minigames are always worth it.

hunger pains
Qui-Gon didn’t notice at first. When Obi-Wan took two nutrition bars every morning from the bowl Qui-Gon had left on the counter for that express purpose, he was nothing but pleased. The healers had drilled it into his head that Obi-Wan needed food, and had recommended leaving some out so it could be accessible at all times, and this just seemed to prove that something was working.
Still, the healers had also told him he had to make sure that Obi-Wan did actually eat, so Qui-Gon always asked him to eat one before leaving for his classes, and Obi-Wan always reluctantly complied.
Not the second one, though. Obi-Wan always refused to have even a single bite of that one.
“For later, between my classes,” he would say, tucking the second bar into his bag.
Qui-Gon could not disapprove. Snacks were good, snacks meant more food, and that meant that Obi-Wan would stop being so scarily gaunt and Qui-Gon would stop being so reminded of his own mistakes every time he looked at the boy.
All in all, Obi-Wan’s dietary plan seemed to be going well. He ate the nutrition bar in front of Qui-Gon in the morning, took his specialized lunch in the dining hall and had to turn in an empty plate to the cooks, and then had dinner with Qui-Gon in their quarters every night. At Obi-Wan’s weekly checkups, the healers had stopped giving Qui-Gon such dirty looks when they thought his Padawan was not looking.
Qui-Gon was proud to report all this progress to the mindhealer he’d been assigned.
“He seems much more stable than I had anticipated,” Qui-Gon said, nodding and leaning back in his seat. “All in all, I think this is a success so far.”
Healer Brai looked at him calmly, hands still folded together in his lap over his datapad. “How so?”
Qui-Gon frowned. Hadn’t he just said? Perhaps this was one of those therapeutic techniques that involved repetition. “We all thought Obi-Wan would have issues with food after going through... food insecurity on Melida/Daan.” That sounded more palatable than the word used in Obi-Wan’s medical files — starvation. “But he seems fine. He eats regularly, and even seeks out more food. I put even more prepackaged things out after the success with the nutrition bars, and those stocks have been declining regularly as well. I think we might have dodged a blaster bolt here.”
Healer Brai stayed silent and just watched him.

The First Jedi General [SWs Fanfic Preview]
Going to be doing Codywan Week~ So excited! I’ve already planned out some ideas and I just couldn’t help myself. Since one of the ideas got a little out of hand, and will be quite a bit longer than the others, I’ve decided to make a sneak peek kind of thing if anyone is interested.
I hope sneak peeks and long fics are alright @codywanweek
The First Jedi General: Prologue
Another cursed object from the karking Sith! Why was it always some random force nonsense giving them a hard time? They had enough of it from the damn Separatists, their enemies didn’t need any help causing chaos!
Groaning and smothering a curse Cody, the Clone Marshal Commander of the 212th Attack Battalion and commander of the 3rd Systems Army, slowly rose to his feet. Adjusting his helmet he quickly took in the sight of the two squads that had been with them when Obi-wan ordered them into another creepy temple. Most of his men were either sprawled on the ground or kneeling to check their brothers. “Sound off!” He barked. Low groans met his command but he ignored it, focusing on searching out his jedi.
“Waxer here, Boil’s alive too, Sir.” Slowly names were called out as the troopers gained their feet and Cody relaxed slightly when he realized they hadn’t lost a single brother. All nineteen of them where alive and mostly unharmed, save for some nausea, headaches, and a little stiffness.
“Where’s the General, Sir?” Seether asked, trying to hide his own discomfort as he flashed a penlight in Uli’s eyes to check for a concussion.
As if on cue Obi-wan dropped down from the ceiling, startling them into reaching for weapons before they registered the red hair and jedi tunics. The man looked at them and smiled in relief, even as his hands trembled faintly. Adzic dashed over to their General and immediately started to check him for damage, even as the jedi tiredly tried to brush him off.
“General.” Growled the medic. “You are paler than normal, your skin feels a little cold and clammy, and your hands are shaking. If it has something to do with the force I can’t help you, fine. But this looks an awful lot like shock to me.” There was a sternness in the vod’s voice that made Obi-wan wince slightly.
“That is… understandable, considering the circumstances.” The fact that their general allowed the medic to sit him down and look him over made the rest of the men shuffle on their feet uncertainly. Even if he was bleeding out the man would always complain about seeing the medics.
“So… any clue where we are, General?” Yorkie, one of the two shinies with them, asked carefully. Obi-wan stiffened and Cody frowned in concern.
“I… I’m still not sure.” The man looked down at his hands, his tongue flicking out to wet his lips, and with a flash of irritation Cody realized the man was lying to them. Crossing the room in long strides he loomed protectively over his jedi with a look of disapproval.
“Sir, if you have any clues then I’d like to hear them.” The man glanced up at him, blue eyes filled with fear and worry. The redhead’s shoulders drooped slightly and his chin fell to his chest. Cody and Adzic shared a look of concern before Obi-wan began to speak again.
“Truthfully I’m not certain. I have my suspicions but if they are true then… th-then…” There was a hitch in the man’s voice that spiked worry in Cody’s chest and he knelt next to his jedi, reaching up to gently place a hand on the back of his neck. It was not something he usually did around others but at the moment they were surrounded by brothers who he knew would keep their interactions quiet.
“Tell me Obi-wan.” His voice was firm but gentle as he began to massage the back of the man’s neck. Some of the tension bled out of his jedi and the man leaned back into his hand, trustingly.
“I think… I think the artifact… I think it sent us… force you are going to think I’m crazy- I think it sent us back in time.” Everyone looked at the poor man as if he’d lost his mind and even Cody couldn’t help the incredulousness he felt at such a statement.
“Sir?” Obi-wan shook his head, closing his eyes tight. “Sir, when and where are we then?” Dice asked him tentatively.
“I do believe that we are in the Cadavine Sector, in the Outer Rim.” Cody frowned. He didn’t know much about the Cadavine Sector, since they had never been deployed there.
“What’s in the Cadavine Sector that’s so important the Force would send us here?” Asked Tobril, the other shiny that had been tapped for the mission.
“Melida/Daan.” From Obi-wan’s torn voice and crestfallen expression Cody knew he was not going to like whatever explanation the man was about to give. Pulling off his helmet he sat down and pulled Obi-wan closer, regulations be damned.
“Tell me.” He said gently, carding his fingers through Obi-wan’s hair.

MEGA Fic Rec Friday!
I’d really like to do these every month, so they can be a nice 4-5 fic affair. But grad school happened, so I’ve got a lot of lovely reads from the past several months to share!!
As always, alphabetical by author ft. me yelling under the cut!
Not There Yet by BigFatBumblebee - Obi-Wan & Qui-Gon, Gen, 10k Summary:  We all know Obi-Wan Kenobi as the one of the strongest, wisest and bravest Jedi in the Jedi Order. But before he was High General Kenobi, The Negotiator, Council Member and Master of the Chosen One, he was an awkward 16-year-old Padawan who needed a bit of TLC.
The Queen, The Cavalier, and The Dragon by FireflyFish - Fem!Obi-Wan & Padme & Vader, 3.8k Summary:  A Queen and her Jedi Knight flee across the galaxy, relentlessly chased by the Dragon they both loved.
Problem Patient by JellyJog - AU Obi-Wan/Qui-Gon, 1.2k Summary:  From a tumblr prompt requesting quiobi where Obi-Wan chose to become a healer instead of following the path to become a jedi knight
Six Times Ahsoka Thought Her Grandmaster Was Dead, and the One Time He Actually Was by LazarusII & Pandora151 - 1.4k, wip Summary: A heavy silence fell over the lower levels of Coruscant’s undercity. Then, a quiet shuffling sound, almost like footsteps, sounded from above.A single blaster bolt rang out—followed by a pained cry. Things were happening too fast; Ahsoka’s heartbeat thundered in her ears, drowning out her surroundings. Her mind barely registered the flash of cream-white careening into the crates directly in front of her. A sickening crunch filled the air as the lifeless form of Obi-Wan Kenobi crashed to the ground. Ahsoka’s heart stopped.
Perception by LuvEwan - Obi-Wan & Qui-Gon & Dooku, Gen, 7.5k Summary:  Master and apprentice are held captive. Obi-Wan is drugged, and unable to differentiate the past, present and future. Qui-Gon is a little shocked when rescue comes in the form of a figure from his own past: Dooku. The trip back to Coruscant is full of unexpected moments and emotions.
Candles Against the Sea by maychorian - Obi-Wan & Qui-Gon, Gen, 41k Summary: It is several months after Melida/Daan, Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon have been working to re-establish their bond. It's been going well. Qui-Gon seems perfectly satisfied. But Obi-Wan is not.
The Sun Shall Not Smite Thee by maychorian - Obi-Wan & Qui-Gon, Gen,  Summary:  It had taken the Jedi far too long to effect a rescue—over a week. By that time Obi-Wan was nearly delirious, on the edge of madness from loneliness and fear caused by his inability to touch the Force.
The Past Remains by otherhawk - Obi-Wan-centric, Gen, 15k Summary:  The war drags on leaving trauma and destruction in its wake. After a bereaved Master is accused of harming his padawan, Obi-Wan is sent to talk to her, dredging up memories of his own past.
The Orchards by Raven_Knight - Qui-Gon & Obi-Wan, Gen, 3.6k Summary: When young Obi-Wan Kenobi is injured on a previous mission, Qui-Gon Jinn refuses to accept further off-planet missions until his Padawan's recovery. Yoda assigns the pair an in-Temple mission of utmost importance while Obi-Wan heals. Master and Padawan welcome the change of pace.
Protect and Nurture by Ren - Obi-Wan & 212th, Gen, 7k Summary: “What do you mean he was taken by slavers!?” Rex winced, looking over his shoulder to make sure no-one had heard. He was hiding in a dark alleyway, and the last thing he needed was for this hiding spot to be blown by an outraged Commander. When their General is taken by slavers, the 212th is half-way across the galaxy. They must wait and pray that their brothers can get to him in time.
Not There Yet by BigFatBumblebee: This is straight-up sickfic, featuring all the best classic tropes. Looking now it seems like there might be some formatting issues in the desktop version, but I read this on mobile without difficulty. Poor Obi-Wan gets frustrated with the motherhenning of Qui-Gon and Tahl. “Meg, did you find this fic because you were searching through the Tahl tag again?” Sure did. Tahl is the best! I loved her interactions with grumpy, feverish Obi-Wan, and how she and Qui-Gon team up to make sure he takes his medicine and rests up. Very cute, worth the read! <3
The Queen, The Cavalier, and The Dragon by FireflyFish: This is so cool! I’m in love with the fairytale motif. This is a post-mustafar fix-it (sort of) with a focus on Obi and Padme parenting the twins and keeping them safe and trying to teach them their family’s history in a way that they can comprehend. I loved Obi and Padme kicking ass together, Leia was great, and Luke was so freakin’ precious omg <3
Problem Patient by JellyJog: I guess you could say that this one is less about the h/c, and more humor with the halls of healing as a backdrop, but I loved it so I wanted to include it nonetheless! Qui-Gon is such an ass and Obi-Wan is so confident and OVER his shit, it’s just peak QuiObi and I got a lot of laughs out of it. I liked Obi-Wan in the healer role, especially when it’s Qui-Gon he’s patching up. <3
Six Times Ahsoka Thought Her Grandmaster Was Dead, and the One Time He Actually Was by LazarusII & Pandora151: Ouch! Just ouch! I loved the narrative style that really drove home the horror of this scene, I always expect great things from these authors and I am never ever disappointed!! I’m so excited to see where this goes next! I am NOT ready for it, because I assume they will get sadder and sadder as we move forward in the timeline and Ahsoka gets closer and closer to Obi-Wan. But fine, I didn’t need my heart anyways, go ahead and break it </3
Perception by LuvEwan: This is wonderfully unique! I love the tension between Qui-Gon and Dooku, and how weird it is for everyone involved to see Dooku being soft and caring with Obi-Wan - especially poor Qui-Gon doesn’t know what to make of it. I melted for how worried Qui-Gon got, even though he was trying not to motherhen too much in front of Dooku because he assumed Dooku would disapprove. What a good Jedi Dad. <3
Candles Against the Sea by maychorian: I implore you to check the tags on this one! But if you’re like me, and some of the themes warned for are a “maybe” for you, know that they’re dealt with here very tactfully and, I thought, very believable for Obi-Wan’s character. What I love most about this fic is how it deals with grief, and how it shows Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon and their different approaches to dealing with their pasts. And of course, I’m a sucker for fics that reference the Jedi Apprentice series! <3
The Sun Shall Not Smite Thee by maychorian: Ouch! This is a dark one! Just like the other fic by this author, it takes me back to my livejournal days and the Jedi Apprentice series. I loved how desperate and protective and fatherly Qui-Gon was, and it definitely scratched the itch for straight-up Obi-Wan whump. <3
The Past Remains by otherhawk: Please please please read the tags on this one before diving in! That said, I thought this was a really well-written and touching story, my favorite bit was probably Obi-Wan and Mace’s interactions, and just Obi-Wan with the Council in general because despite being one of them, it’s hard to escape the fact that most of them knew him when he was young too and the past still follows him. What I liked about this was also how messy it is - it’s not a black-and-white situation, and the different characters’ perspectives and conflicting memories are laid out to give the reader sort of an omniscient view of the story. <3
The Orchards by Raven_Knight: I died of cuteness! This is so domestic and fluffy, they’re freakin’ baking together, what more could anyone possibly want from a h/c fic? This one is for those of us who are 100% here for the comfort, not just the hurt. I really loved reading these two getting some downtime, and with all the asshole!Qui-Gon fics in this list, I’m really happy to include one that features Qui being sweet and protective and softly joking with his convalescent Padawan while they bond over apples! <3
Protect and Nurture by Ren: OUCH! This one doesn’t pull any punches when it comes to Obi-Wan and the aftermath of Zygerria. I loved seeing Cody, Rex, and Wolffe and their different reactions to the traumatic scenario. Motherhen!Cody cracks me up! For all that this story has a lot of “hurt”, there’s a lot of the “comfort” part too which is something I really appreciate. <3

I have like a million other things that I’m in the middle of writing but I just had a thought that I felt the need to get down. Yeah yeah, it’s another crack AU idea... Such a surprise. I know. But still just imagine what might have been:
It is a time of supposed galactic stability. It will be decades yet before Sidious’ plans will come to fruition, and a certain Not-Yet-Negotiator is currently training under his Maverick Master as per canon. However in this universe there is one, marked difference.
In the halls of the great archives beneath the Jedi temple a minor cataloguing program designed to collate external references to Jedi deployed in the field (mentions in galactic news media, bounty descriptions, general gossip - the kind of things that might indicate a problem for long term missions) brings up a discrepancy for further review. It is the kind of thing which might easily be dismissed- a possible mention that cannot be appended to the relevant individual’s file because it is no longer in active circulation. This isn’t an unheard of occurrence; no program is perfect and it is easy to shrug off the match with a Jedi listed as having been deceased for years as being a false positive due to mistaken identity.
Which is what probably would have happened, had the Senior Padawan in charge of reviewing the system reports not had the unfortunate luck to have been caught sneaking an open container of Muja Juice into the archives by Madame Nu that morning and been dismissed for punishment duty. As a result it was the head archivist herself who ended up reading the report of a pirate arrested coming out of the Rattanak system, who in his interrogation happened to mention a man who bore a remarkable resemblance to Jedi Knight Ky Narec, missing, presumed dead, following the loss of his ship five years previously. Now Jocasta Nu is nothing if not meticulous, and instead of dismissing the report instead double checks the initial case - while not probable, it is possible that the ship may have made it to a nearby system, and Rattanak is within feasible distance...
As such, in this universe, the Jedi Order sends a team to Rattanak to investigate Ky Narec’s possible survival. And so it is that the long lost knight returns to the Temple. There is however consternation in the Council - Ky Narec’s return from the dead is an unexpected blessing, but at the same time he is loudly and vociferously demanding to be allowed to return and finish his self appointed mission. And then there is the matter of his preteen “Padawan”...
Asajj Ventress is indisputably strong in the force, but she has never seen the inside of the creche. When Ky found her she was already old for an initiate, and the years since have been focused on skills relevant to their immediate survival rather than providing a broad understanding of Jedi principles. But the bond between Master and Padawan is strong, and there is no question that her training must continue. But still, what is the council to to with a semi-feral Padawan who has spent years in an active warzone and her headstrong master who has an unshakeable belief in his own judgement?
The answer is obvious. Team them up with another problem pair and hope they balance each other out. And so it is that a smirking Master Yoda informs Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon that their expertise is required for a very special mission...
Qui-Gon is quite happy with his new assignment. Applying his years of experience to formulate an appropriate plan for dealing with the ongoing conflict on Rattanak is not easy, however Ky is a highly perceptive man and has an excellent understanding of the relative dynamics between the different players. The lost knight also has a delightfully dry sense of humour and is passionate in his defence of his student, which endears him very much to the older Master for a number of reasons. For his own part Ky Narec is pleasantly surprised by how well Master Jinn is actually listening to his arguments. Oh he challenges Ky’s conclusions, but he does not dismiss his knowledge or suggest that the situation might best be left to develop on its own (unlike other Jedi Ky could mention). Indeed, he suspects their proposal has a very good chance of working.
Obi-Wan on the other hand is wondering how long the council intends to punish him for his various misdeeds. The Padawan he has been instructed to tutor is barely old enough to meet the standard definition of the term, has barely any understanding of most core teaching subjects and is only very begrudgingly separated from her master for more than an hour at a time. She is vicious, defensive and... and far too like himself in the wake of Melida/Daan. He remembers what it is like to be always on a hair trigger, always waiting for the next attack, desperately holding on to what you have because tomorrow it could be gone. He also remembers what it was like on his return. The scornful looks and disapproving frowns that left him feeling isolated, the endless nightmares and constant twitching at loud noises, the way the only one who seemed to have faith in him was his own Master - and little Asajj is far younger than he was...
Asajj is not sure she likes the Temple, no matter how much Master Ky says she will learn to call it home. The food is good, and it’s nice not to have to worry about sentry duty, but the people are stupid. Do they think she doesn’t notice the way they look at her? The way the snicker just because she doesn’t know who some karking bigwig from the shouting hou... Senate is? Master Ky tells her not to worry, that she will catch up in no time, but he’s busy these days with the tall Master who makes the others groan and she’s been left with this Padawan Kenobi who seems just as stupid as the rest of them! Except... Padawan Kenobi never laughs at her in the mess hall for eating too fast, just hands her extra seed rolls to squirrel away in her robes for later. Padawan Kenobi might roll his eyes at her when she complains about her reading, but he doesn’t raise his voice or tell her she’s stupid. Padawan Kenobi will spar with her, and while he knows just what to say to get a rise out of Asajj he never toys with her or tries to embarass her. And come to think of it, he always seems to make enough noise for her avoid being startled by him. Maybe Padawan Ken... no, Obi-Wan isn’t so bad after all. It doesn’t mean she’s going to make life easy for him though!
To cut a long story short (and oh are there ever stories, because honestly the Council dearly begins to regret setting this up) Obi-Wan has a new friend and Qui-Gon has a new partner in crime.  Ky and Qui-Gon will watch in amusement while Obi-Wan and Asajj attempt to verbally eviscerate  whatever hapless individual has earned their scorn, and the Padawans will sigh and trade stories about reckless masters who can’t seem to go anywhere without attracting trouble. Over time (once Asajj has grown enough not to horrify civilians when she pulls our her blades) when one pairing gets into trouble more often than not it is the other who comes to bail them out. Which is more frequent than you’d think. Ky and Asajj are not diplomats. On the other hand given the trouble Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan usually end up causing, having a pair or terrifyingly efficient warriors familiar with the seedier side of the galaxy is a distinct advantage.
Which is why when the Temple loses contact with pair after sending them to negotiate an end to the trade dispute on Naboo, Ky and Asajj just look at one another and start preparing for an extraction mission. As it turns out they don’t need to launch as rescue as surprise surprise the pair turn up on Coruscant accompanying the missing Queen and with a new stray in tow...
Let’s backtrack a bit here. Because while the core events remained the same, the details do not. Qui-Gon Jinn lands on Tatooine and immediately starts cursing as he recalls everything Ky has told him about Outer Rim economics. Still, they need to do what they can, so into town he heads, with a foolish Gungan and a disguised Queen by his side. And when he meets Anakin Skywalker and his mother, Qui-Gon Jinn remembers a young Dathomiri Padawan matter of factly telling him “Hal’Sted wasn’t a bad master, it could have been much worse” before explaining exactly how in great depth, and his blood runs cold.
Similarly, as their ship leaves behind the sand and suns of Tatooine, Obi-Wan Kenobi looks at his Master’s newest acquisition and thinks “Two of them. Bant is never going to let me hear the end of this.” and proceeds to do his best to reassure the boy and get him settled because experience has taught him that the easiest way to deal with a non-Temple raised force sensitive is to earn their trust as quickly as possible and worry about attachment issues later.
(Oh Obi-Wan, you have NO IDEA what you’ve just done)
What happens next is up in the air. Perhaps there are two more Jedi on the return to Naboo. Perhaps it changes things, and Qui-Gon lives to sort out his mess. Perhaps it doesn’t, and two padawans lose their masters that day. Perhaps Maul swears vengeance against two Jedi instead of one, and Asajj first tastes the Dark as the Sith that might once have been a brother takes away not only the man she sees as her father, but the Master who supported them both from the start.
But perhaps it doesn’t change things. Perhaps a grieving Obi-Wan returns to the Temple with his tiny new Padawan only to be hugged within an inch of his life by a teenage menace who will flatly deny it if she is ever asked. Perhaps things are easier in a world where the Council has already had to deal with one overaged Padawan in the last decade (At least Skywalker doesn’t appear to be about to stab anyone who looks at him wrong). Certainly Obi-Wan has a better grip on Anakin’s lingering issues regarding slavery.
(”It's different.” Whispers an unusually gentle Asajj when little Ani asks her. “You are HIS Padawan, but he is YOUR Master, and you have a claim on each other.” She smiles. “And if you truly wanted to leave, he would let you go.”)
They’re not large changes, not world breaking shifts in the way the galaxy will turn. But that doesn’t matter.
I just want you all to imagine Knight Ventress.
Knight Ventress who is the unacknowledged master of Jar Kai and whose appearance has been known to send pirates running to the authorities to give themselves in.
Knight Ventress who is sharp and righteous anger, but never lets the Dark take hold, because she has too much to protect.
Knight Ventress who appears out of nowhere to snark at Kenobi and pat Skywalker on the head even after he grows to be taller than her.
Knight Ventress who has a horrifically complicated on-off relationship with Quinlan Vos that the entire Temple is trying to pretend Does. Not. Exist.
Knight Ventress who stalks into the middle of the Council chambers following the Battle of Geonosis and icily demands to know why they are leading a slave army.
Knight Ventress who repeatedly engages Dooku’s assassin, the brutish Savage Oppress, knowing that they share a heritage and that had things been different it might have been a far darker master she was sold to.
Knight Ventress who teases Knight Skywalker about his new Padawan, and promising to corrupt her lightsaber habits.
Knight Ventress who takes one look at the Duchess of Mandalore and just smirks knowingly at Obi-Wan.
Just... Knight Ventress.
Who stands beside Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi as they take down Darth Sidious and watch the galaxy still fall...
Isn’t it an interesting thought?

Blood is thicker than water - Chapter 19
Playing Catch
Obi-Wan did not immediately leave his room, instead he settled back on his bed and entered a light meditation. He was not surprised to feel his brother quickly joining him and considering what they had just talked about and shared, the ginger haired Jedi opened his bond in a silent invitation. He felt the Sith hesitate, perhaps unsure of what he should do, before he acted. Their bond flared back to live and almost immediately the memories flowed freely between them.
It was unpleasant, nothing like the first time they had shared their memories, which could very well have been, because of the images Obi-Wan received. He saw a young ginger haired boy, being humiliated, beaten up, hurt, tortured and punished as a means of training him into a Sith Lord. He saw the blacked out man treating his brother like dirt under his feet and Obi-Wan came to realize why his brother was often acting the way he did. It was clear that he didn’t like to be commanded, of course he was never willing to show weakness, which is probably why he had avoided eye-contact during their earlier conversation and it was also clear why Ben was so private and closed off.
Meanwhile Ben was experiencing his brother’s training, which had been nothing like his own. It was all so light and nice and free. It almost disgusted the Sith, but only because he could not tell himself that his Master had done all those horrible things to him, without a real purpose, just for his own sick pleasure. Ben simply HAD to believe that the special training he had received from Sidious was, what had made him this strong, what had made him come this far in his life.
The atmosphere of Obi-Wan’s memories soon changed however, when the Jedi was around twelve years old. Content and happiness was replaced by fear, confusion and sometimes even pain. It disgusted the Sith to see how his brother had been treated, especially since the same Jedi were now trying everything to befriend Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, General and Council member. Disgust soon turned to anger, when Qui-Gon – the man had been something of a role model for Ben, because of his deep connection with the living Force – made an appearance. The rage was growing when he saw the Initiate tournament, Bandomeer and eventually even Melida/Daan from Obi-Wan’s eyes. It was then that the older male cut the connection. He had felt that his brother had been about to do the same, undoubtedly from the darkness he had seen in Ben’s training, or perhaps it had been due to the sudden appearance of a young and yet uneducated Maul in Ben’s apprenticeship. Sidious and his relationship had changed upon Maul’s appearance. Ben had soon realized that every mistake could cost him his place as Sidious apprentice and therefore his life.
A silent question ran through the bond and Obi-Wan received comfort right back. He knew the meaning, his brother was alright. Or at least he pretended to be. Of course the Jedi Master had felt the other’s rage and anger, until suddenly strong shields were built, cutting the connection.
“A lot of things could have gone different,” Obi-Wan mumbled into the empty room, “but there is nothing we can do about them now. The past is the past, we can only change the future. I hope you realize this soon brother.” He knew from experience that staying in the past was dangerous and painful. Qui-Gon had taught him this, but surely Ben had had no one, who taught him. Perhaps it was his task, even as the younger twin, to help Ben understand.
Later that very same day, Obi-Wan and his fateful followers as well as his dark shadow found themselves in one of the training halls. The Jedi, who had already been present upon them entering, had stopped in their workouts, all their gazes resting on the masked man. Obi-Wan guessed that every single Jedi in the whole galaxy had to know about the Sith guest in the Jedi temple.
The other Jedis’ uneasiness was clear in the air. They did not know how to react and it made them feel something, that is heavily frowned upon and disapproved of, fear.
It was only when a young Initiate, not yet taken as a Padawan, had boldly stepped in front of the unimpressed Sith and loudly declared that he would defeat him in a lightsaber duel, that the ice was beginning to break. A moment the whole hall had been silent, no one dared to even breathe. The dark haired human boy was standing with his hands on his hips in front of the dark Force user, his head held high and expression sure and almost cocky. Obi-Wan had been able to feel Ben’s irritation at such stupid boldness and Anakin’s and Ahsoka’s shock upon the reckless actions of one so young. Then, a low chuckle could be heard and the Sith had tilted his head just a little.
“You come before me, young Jedi, to challenge me to a duel?” his eyes blazed with something like mirth, “Who do you think you are?” At this point a handful of Council members had also entered the training hall, they had undoubtedly searched for their visitor and located him here to keep an eye on him, even though Yoda looked as if he had been dragged along by Mace Windu, whose brow was furrowed in deep thought.
If possible, the young black haired Initiate stood even straighter, “My name is Coren Bane and in the name of the Jedi Order and the Republic, you are under arrest.” Obi-Wan had to admit that the young one knew what he wanted.
“Is that so young Jedi? Then show me, Coren Bane, if you have what it takes, to make me yield.” There was no negative emotion in the Force around Ben and it was probably the only thing that kept anyone from taking actions. That and Master Yoda had simply seated himself on a bench and watched, quite contently, the display.
The Initiate huffed and then turned around to run into the hall. In a real battle, this would have been the first mistake. Never turn your back to an opponent, but thankfully Ben was only playing. “Come, if you dare,” the raven haired Initiate mocked and had already activated his lightsaber, a beautifully crafted one with a green blade.
“Very well,” the Sith cooed. He stretched his neck – his bones actually cracking – and then his shoulders. Only after he had finished with his brief stretches, did he grab his lightsaber – which he had been given back by Mace right after the Council session – and walked down the stairs, into the now empty training ground. All the previously training Jedi had moved to the benches, getting as close as possible to Master Yoda, without standing in the green troll’s line of view. The mirth and humour shone in the Grandmaster’s eyes and it was probably the only reason why no one had reacted in any way. No one expect Coren Bane and the Sith of course.
Both the challenged Sith, as well as the Initiate bowed and saluted in a traditional fashion. Then the raven haired boy got into a battle stance, it was offensive, but could quickly change to a defensive one. Ben’s lightsaber lazily rested by his side. His eyes were calculating, but not out for victory.
“This could proof to be interesting,” Obi-Wan mumbled, catching the attention of a certain blonde Knight.
“I wish I could share your optimism,” Anakin mumbled right back, before turning back to the ‘fight’ that was about to start.
