I am gonna bulldoze your anon because that movie set me OFF. You know how the movie would have been great? OPENING it with Alice (Flo's character) waking up from the simulation. Her partner is dead beside her and she has to work her way backwards to figure out what the hell happened. She has her memories of the simulation, and knows there are hundreds of other women trapped inside it, so she has to find them and free them from the simulation as well.

And with Bunny (Olivia), they could have worked deeper into her desire to stay in the world because of her kids being there. We could have found out what happened to her children, and maybe had Alice help Bunny understand that it's not truly living or maybe have Bunny make a heroic sacrifice to save the other women and reuniting with her children in the afterlife or something.

And Gemma Chan's character Shelly? She stabs Chris Pine and says "It's my turn now." WHAT DOES THAT MEAN? Is she gonna take over the show? Is she gonna build another simulation and imprison the men? Is SHE behind the whole thing and her husband taking credit for it? WHAT WAS THAT? That's what I meant by, what a great concept but a wretched execution. Okay, rant over.

I agree, so little of it made sense and so many more things should've been explored. Personally I was just left with such a meh feeling because it was a mess. I'd been led to believe it was the worst movie ever and it wasn't. It wasn't good either, don't get me wrong. I do think those changes could've maybe helped. Idk.

first time using brush pens to actually color instead of detailing/highlighting and oh boy. I wanted to dilute the black in water to make grey (they're watercolor brush pens + the actual grey looked green) but it didn't dilute well enough and I ended up making the weird super dark streaks in Casper's hair. (/ー￣;) instead of scrapping it I decided to make the drawing based off of his soul getting tainted by the dark!! hope you guys think it's kinda cool anyway!! ヽ(；▽；)ノ

Okayyyy....So, I FINALLY got around to watching this "Don't Worry Darling" movie a few nights ago lol. Everyone kept saying how HORRIBLE the film was, and how bad Harry's acting was in it lol, so I'm sorry, but my curiosity just got the better of me and I HAD to watch it and see for myself. 😅

My Thoughts:

The Good:

I LOVE films that have a little bit of mystery like this...I love trying to figure out and guess what's really going on in a film, so this one was right up my alley.

Right off the bat, I kind of already suspected that what I was seeing was not what was real. I even questioned if they were really in that time period right off the bat. Like, something just seemed waaay too "perfect" about that little town. Immediately, I found myself thinking:

"This film reminds me of 'The Stepford Wives' and the 'Surrogates' movies". If any of you have seen either of those films, then you'll know exactly what I'm talking about.

Can I just say? I love Florence as an actress. Everything I've seen her in so far has been great acting by her. She does an American accent fairly convincingly well too... I didn't pick up on any "slip-ups" like I usually do when most foreigners fake American accents for films lol. 😅 I can't wait to see her in "Dune: Part 2"!

Also...LOVED seeing Chris Pine as a villain in this! And can I just say?? He was ZADDY! LOL 🤣 Something about him in this film was doing things to me lol.

Oh...and I LOVE LOVE LOVED the costumes, and that house! I love styles and fashion from the 1950s and 1960s. Everyone just always looked so classy and put together. People really took pride in how they looked back then lol. I loved vintage styles honestly. 😊

That home was to die for too...loved the architecture.

The Bad:

Honestly, the main gripe I had with this film was that there were just SO many plot holes! 🥴 It was annoying! Like, the movie teases you and teases you, and you're hanging on along for the ride, and then.... It just.... LEAVES you HANGING with sooo many UNanswered questions at the end! 😤

What was up with the airplane crashing in the distance that Florence's character saw?? 🥴

What was up with the mini little earthquakes that everyone was just used to? Was it trains? Was it leakage from the "real life"?

Why did Olivia's character know what was up from the get-go? Who told her? How did she find out? Did she ALWAYS know?

Why does banging your head against the glass cause you to get out of the VR realm?

How did Harry's character get his wife to be able to undergo the VR life? Was he drugging her? Were ALL of these husbands drugging their wives? Were some of these dudes just choosing random women to be their VR wives?? Like, what on earth?

When did Chris Pine's wife know that he was a fraud?? Like, was she always suspecting? OR did that ONE phone convo that she over heard do something to her?

Who were the men in red jackets? Were they all under VR simulation as well?

Why does killing you in the VIRTUAL WORLD kill you in the REAL WORLD, when everything that's going on is just FAKE anyway?? 🥴 That was the BIGGEST mystery to me lol. Didn't make sense AT all.

You almost felt like you watched the entire movie for no good reason when none of these questions were answered lol. I can see why so many people didn't like this movie.

OVERALL:

Overall, I didn't HATE the movie. The movie actually started off very promising in fact! I actually didn't even mind Harry's acting? I mean, he's not really an "actor", so for a singer trying to act, I actually didn't think he did THAT bad y'all lol. 😄 And as Olivia's film debut (is this her first directorial film?) it actually wasn't THAT bad.

I just hated all of the plot holes!

I also felt like actress Kiki Layne was SEVERELY UNDERused in this movie. I would have liked to have seen how she was before she became suspicious. I was actually interested in her storyline as well, but they kind of treated her character as an afterthought.

Anyway...I think people overexaggerated though how much they hated this movie. It wasn't that bad honestly. It was just something fun to watch on a Friday night while eating my dinner lol.

But boy did this movie have plot holes galore! 🤣 It didn't have to end so abruptly either.

Too bad this movie had so much drama going on with the cast lol 😆 It didn't get such a great press tour due to all the drama going on lol. 👀

I think they should’ve expanded on Chris Pine’s character when Olivia Wilde said he was based off of Jordan Peterson I thought there was going to be more scenes of him saying really misogynistic things instead we only get him talking about “biological destiny” which is still gross but vague

Yeah. I think it was pretty clear he and all the men were misogynistic, the whole concept of the VR 50s housewife was clearly misogynistic. I think he was trying not to give away his full hand?

Personally one of my biggest beefs is that the scene at the dinner table where Florence is figuring everything out and sits at the head of the table and Chris Pine finds her fascinating, should've been dragged out longer. One of the best parts of the movie that should've built for like 45 minutes or an hour across little scenes instead of done after one scene. As I think his character said, disappointing.

Sooooo, probably me looking too much into it, but y'all notice something up with the red eyes or is that just a style thing when he's gone full unhinged?

Really love how Mr. Banana Brain is also juggling with him. Absolutely sweet to see them properly reunited after... the incident. 👀

Let's go girls! Okay, maybe not so much. I'm damn tired, my brain is goo due to migraines on Sunday, Monday and today so... Hate that for me. I will write some Nevri x Morotar Hurt/Comfort but at the moment that is still all in my head. Instead, I'm going with a snipped from next weekend's new DwD II chapter! Ancano is, as always, an ass (ugh, I love him). Also under the cut because of spoilers.

A knock sounded. Ghash narrowed his eyes and stared unblinking at the door. Nevri sat rooted to her chair. Who wanted anything from her in the evening? Granted, it wasn't too late, so the visit wasn't rude, but it was certainly unusual. Maybe it's Colette, she thought and got up from her chair. Another knock followed. Nevri turned the key in the lock, pressed the handle and took a step backwards and stumbled back another. The Thalmor stood in front of her door, his face expressionless and his hands clasped behind his back. He looked different as he had taken off his long, pitch-black coat with the gold trim. Underneath was a dark purple tunic, as Nevri now realised. He had rolled up his sleeves, exposing sinewy forearms.

“Ah, you’re still awake. May I come in?” he asked, his tone as monotone as his countenance.

“What do you want?” Nevri immediately blurted out. Anxiety pressed on her stomach and made it queasy.  

“I just wanted to enquire about you.” The corners of his mouth lifted into something resembling a smile. But it didn't inspire confidence in Nevri. “Since I was involved in your rescue, it is my duty to look after you.”

“So, you've been looking after me. I'm standing upright. Is that it?” she said. Had he really been there? She did not remember him in the slightest. Only how she had been spewing water from her lungs and that the pale Altmer had been far too close to her.    

“Is that it?” he mimicked and made a step towards her, entering the room. “A little more gratitude might be in order.”

“How I remember it, you weren’t the one to pull me out of the ocean. Nor carry me to Colette,” she spat, but made another step back, the back of her knee hit her bedframe. Ghash sat next to her, his tail whipping.

Ancano closed the door behind him, then inspected her chamber with a look of depreciation. Everything in here seemed to displease him, but so did the whole college. In the one week that Nevri had been here, she had heard his lamenting often enough.         He stopped by her desk, his slender, golden fingers gliding over the two letters, keen eyes scanning them. A barely visible crease formed between his eyebrows as he read the second letter. Nevri bit on the inside of her cheek and thanked herself, that she had only written vague suggestions of the matters. He looked up, fixed his citrine gaze on her, staring her into the ground. Rarely had she encountered such a penetrating glare; only one other pair of eyes had had such a devastating effect on her. But that had been azure.

“To answer your question, yes, I have not been the one to recue you from the sea. My fellow agent had that honour, even though I deemed it hopeless.” His tone had become as sharp as his features, cutting like the keen edge of a blade. “A fall from such height, it's almost a miracle that you're standing in front of me.”

“It was pure luck,” Nevri answered quickly, maybe a little too quickly to not to raise suspicion. “And fast help. I would have drowned without it.”

Ancano took a few more steps towards her, stood right in front of her. He was not much taller than her, but he knew how to make himself look towering. A hint of lemon reached her nose, accompanied with pine needles. Under other circumstances, she would have described it as pleasant, but right now Nevri felt like she was shrinking under his scrutinizing gaze.

“I’ve seen people fall in similar conditions.” He paused, observing every movement in her face. “I have thrown people from comparable heights. It is a death sentence. No matter if there is stone, sand or water beneath them. The impact should have killed you, Dunmer.”

I made a dewdle on Magma based on a Fearsome Four rp on Club Penguin with Duckblr Movie Night Discord server.

I roleplayed as Dewey since I'm not super familiar with the Fearsome Four, I haven't seen DWD yet except for the first episode and Dewey is the most closely linked to DWD stuff out of the triplets.

Chose some sunglasses based on Dewey's desire to be cool and a blue scarf based on his desire to be a pilot/like his mom.

Meanwhile, I was busy being confused about how to do basic stuff in Club Penguins like take a hat off. @tealottie joined briefly then focused on drawing on magma.

Here's why Dewey was chillin' with the villians. Reminds me of What's Up Danger. "I had a slumber party with all my foes." Dewey tried and failed to write his name on the wall with snowballs.

Dewey kept trying to climb on the table but the game wouldn't let him. We also dealt with some weird and annoying censoring.

Dewey was able to become DJ Daft Duck at the penguin nightclub. The dance floor was full until we got there. Guess we scared everyone else away XD. Then we went downstairs and spoiler alert, Quackerjack was Mortimer Mouse all along! After a snowball battle, Mortimer went to have lasagna with Pete.
