I've been thinking a lot, it's just hard to use my words 😔👊💥

So for a little bit of world context:

Heaven World favors Space over Earth, but due to disharmony, Harmony is considering closing everything off all together.

Playa is a idol who sprouted amongst the Space Soccer planet, and has actually had multiple tries at the rhythm trials to flourish, but had failed everytime. (Disharmony is effecting Everything, even Heaven World btw.. Harmony. Herself. Is- yeah you get it.)

Anyway Joe, does NOT get multiple chances and Barista had to argue for him to even GET ONE. (Which is why he's the one who fetches Joe, much to Harmony's annoyance.)

Joe and Playa interact a little bit when Joe is getting used to Heaven World (needing to sniff around and figure out how to deal with his situation, and find Barista again) and well, Playa offers to give Joe a tour, which he didn't want.

"Well, I dunno, I think you need me! Do you even know where the Cafe is?"

"What? What Cafe? In the sky?"

"You just walked out of a castle."

"Why does the Cafe matter?"

"Uh, the dog you're looking for owns it? Duh?"

"... What?"

You know just a bit of tagalong quest before he's more important later; when their deadlines are both put on the line at the same time because Tibby fell from Heaven World (uh oh!)

And then Playa finds Joe and tries to soften the blow Harmony had made because, he knows her, he's had chances. Even if they're over now. He, understands, she is going through something. But, yk Joe doesn't exactly care right now.

He now has to "flourish", whatever that is, and now find a baby, and the flow meter, and probably fix everyone's problems along the way- AND NOW he suddenly feels guilty because they had helped him earlier, and he's being snappy. He probably does need their help, and well, Playa was going to be really insistent anyway.

(^ also somewhere inbetween this Samurai has been following Joe at a distance and later on Playa is going to notice it too lol)

ANYWAY it's basically like, they both try to be positive as they go along, but Joe is closed off, and kind of finds Playa annoying for trying to be friendly. < guess who has better rhythm out of the two of them

But it's okay.. it grows on him, and Playa gets to humble Joe repeatedly lol. The :-] weow. Look at what being nice and sillay did for me <3 and Joe's just >:^( I get it.. <- don't blame him for being a bit of a butt, reminder his sister is also missing and he can't get to earth, also where that baby he has to find is, UGH. (At least they were, conveniently, together when they find them.)

As they get to talk, and kind of reflect on the situation more as they help people in a chain of sidequests trying to get to earth. They kind of get to reside in one another of randomly having their half of the world tossed onto their shoulders, and, becoming an idol is overwhelming, and kind of scary because of the Crisis TM. IDK, guys going through a situation together but it takes them FOREVER to address it and then it's Ah. Man. Okay let's push that. Back again!!

They're becoming friends though! And Samurai is there too!!! Whatcha!!!!! CAUGHT YOU!!! And he's just "Ah......... Nice to meet you." AND wow added fun to our field trip.. and dynamic,, but I'll leave that for laterg///

Really it's like Joe has to loosen up from Playa, and Playa learns to shape up from Joe(+Samurai), especially bc later on in the AU they REALLY start to crack under the pressure, more than Joe had. I wuvg them,,,

ALSO funny. Maccie has beef with Playa because she's already mad at Barista for "stealing" Joe. So yk. Lol.

DW she'll turn around. She, Yuka, and Barista kind of wingman them (+Samurai) bc its a musical adventure in my mind and imagine the sillayyy

okay omg YEAH i am currently super obsessed my brain is so -@;!()!-?-&!;/!@,' (sobbing) but TYSM FR WAH ..... >___< and honestly i really do rec hades it's so good (I GET YOU BTW i haven't actually. like got incredibly far in the game but i do have a fair amount of time in it + the only reason why i have it tbh is bcs of a family member <//3)

OKAY SO. okay. tbh i'm not completely sure what i like the most but it's probably a combo of the art design/style + gameplay + characters. the art i'd say is incredibly beautiful and unique !!! the designs are really lovely and all (esp as someone who is a big fan of greek mythology which is one factor as to why i love the game so much!) <3 the gameplay is REALLY fun. and good. it's a roguelike game and it actually ties to the game's concept of death and resurrection ?? (underworld stuff. zag is literally the god of rebirth) and it's REALLY good at what it does. very addicting. no run is exactly the same and i personally didn't think i'd be fond of roguelike games but hades just really hits with it !! (a lot of people who don't like roguelike games seem to think this way too). tbh if hades is your kinda game then it genuinely is. sort of. really a Perfect Game ?? story + gameplay + visuals are like the three pillars of it and as far as i personally know all of that is just incredibly good. the protag is likeable, the other characters are likeable, i don't know some of the most important story bits yet but so far it truly is very interesting, each run is connected to the last (such that if you get a different boss, zag actually says smth abt that! it is a very fluid game. if that's properly describing it). LOWKEY EVERYONE IN THE GAME IS HOT. most likely bcs of the artstyle which is really just so nice <3 BUT YEAH i don't really like roguelikes bcs you kinda restart progress right? but hades really feels productive with each run (i even look forward to dying in game!!!!!) and there's so much failure but i don't really feel frustrated. it's a really rewarding game imo and no wonder a lot of people considered it to be their goty of 2020 (and it won a few awards for that too i think) <33 SORRY FOR RAMBLING SO MUCH BUT YEAH .... the game genuinely is just so good. also the voice acting is actually great. ALSO the romance options are super cool (AND POLY IS ACTUALLY POSSIBLE I THINK. INCREDIBLY COOL) and yeah the devs are worth supporting from what i know and are very inclusive it seems. might be wrong tho FKHSKDNSJ (EDIT: I FORGOT TO MENTION THERE IS AN AROMANTIC CHARACTER IN HADES AS WELL. I really like Oda. I could make a whole post about how much I like him. I like his whole concept, his care and understanding for Dazai, his relatability, etc. While I'm at it, let me just go and talk about some things about him haha. Apologies to non-Oda stans.

I love how he's the embodiment of dry friend energy (in a good way). He's just so calm and comfortable in dark era. Yk how sometimes you just feel like talking in a mellow tone and not really being that energetic when you talk/text someone? I love how he's like that and doesn't feel ashamed - doesn't feel the need to match Dazai's energy or be overly loud. He's just himself and I like that.

He's the adorable assassin turned loveable idiot. I like how he's kinda dumb sometimes (like me) and his friends don't mind it at all lol.

now that I've said some positives, one scene Oda had that I didn't 100% enjoy (although, it really wasn't meant to be enjoyable) was in dark era, where he was quite literally willing to let Dazai kill Ango/didn't do anything to stop it.

Granted, I don't think he would have been the same with Dazai if Dazai actually killed Ango but still, it's quite sad

He implies that nothing he'd do would change anything.

(daang. you can really feel his insecurity from here. also the fact that he believes Dazai would kill the orphans if he did something - not that I blame him tho. Dazai was really dark, unpredictable and hurt. He threatened Ango because he was hurt by his betrayal so just imagine if Oda "betrayed" him too. LOL someone stop me before this turns into a dark fanfic).

Another thing though.

This is oddly similar to Dazai's fatalist way of thinking that there's no point in trying because everything he has will be taken from him anyway.

Watch me make this into a whole analysis about Oda and Dazai lmao. They're actually really similar.

Oda having low self-esteem and being passive meanwhile Dazai IS ALSO passive and is literally just bopping around in darkness because he has nothing else to do. One big difference though is that Oda has hopes of leaving the Mafia once the kids are old enough to take care of themselves. But for now, he's also just bopping around and idk if he's actually tried to write a novel or if he was also just waiting for "the right moment" in that regard?

Anyways.

Yk..I have this thing called 'Side Character Syndrome' where I get attached to side characters because of their charm and untapped potential and I just make them into my own characters in my head. I modify some things, give them backstory, give them plot, give them character development, etc. The fics that go on in my mind, man. I take side characters, make them my own, and make my own "mind" fics where they play a bigger role and stuff. LOL. I love my HC/fanfic Oda a lot.

The fanfic Oda I have in my mind is very similar to Oda but is kind of different as well. Hard to explain but just know that I like Oda Sakunosuke very much hehe.

Oh my god Akane has so many good ones how could you make me choose hmmm I love the gun scene like a lot a lot she has so many scenes of her acting that are so funny to me and so many little interactions with so much weight too I obviously want to say the reveal scene of her narrating but honestly it's such a game defining moment that in my heart it's not so much a favorite moment for the character but just generally in fiction of all time ds dual screen playing into the experience my beloved this shit's peak fiction and absolutely everything hinges on this moment like fr it's so good it's insane But okay I'll actually surprise everyone with this and talk about ztd positively actually and claim C-Team ending as my favorite moment for her because it just encapsulates her character perfectly, what she's capable of why she does it how she thinks of herself for it how she still despite everything holds her memories with Junpei very dear in what's kind of a selfish way the imagery of the blood red moon all as she is at her wits end realizing just how much she was playing right into some other Zero's hand like these are all great conceptually! I can only imagine a world where the execution of and context for these ideas didn't fall flat as hell on it's face also shout out for the voice actors carrying the few good moments of this game btw

15. what i dont like about the way canon portrayed them

Aside from how ztd generally just treats everyone in terms of framing and where the story goes and especially seems to erase details we had very well estabilished on her from her mind and characterization y'know forgetting she's not an only child not being afraid of fire being okay with nurses etc etc Then there's not much I dislike really, like, as much as it pains me to see her turn out so callous and utilitarian and ruining people's lives for the 'greater good' it's still such a good development for her regardless in a way you don't often see and I'm thankful for it. Like honestly it's important to me to keep this in mind for her characterization even when I'm writing fics where almost nothing bad happens after she saves herself in 999, those traits never manage to take such a strong hold on her while still being there, so, I deny canon but I accept her as she is <3 lmao okay I guess there is one thing I disagree and it's just that I like to think she wouldn't be as okay with murder as she supposedly is? I don't think she'd never do it herself, fucking far from it, I just think she wouldn't own up to it? Try to remove herself from it however she can I dunno or maybe even just doing it on auto pilot just absolutely seething without a word or saying stuff that's more calculated still, like the fire extinguisher bit is so funny but I do wish she sounded less hysterical about it? It doesn't quite fit her, it feels like I'm watching some random dating sim with a secret route where the girl goes crazy, also she sounds so silly with the chainsaw lol

I don't like how she's friends with Ota specifically lmao okay not necessarily by which I mean I think it's weird that the fact all her friends being adults is something we're meant to practically ignore? It's not an inherently negative thing but it's mostly addressed as jokes at best but it's weird about what that means for her development wise or what it means for the characters she is friends with like they give her this presumed competence that is brushed off as her being 'so mature for her age' and so ahead of the other kids so we might as well treat her like we're peers but that. That has ramifications and implications and that's one of the things I relate to her own! So I know what I'm talking about it just feels shallow when it feels like it'd have some more relevance especially from Date's pov when it comes to assuming that same competence about combat and putting her in harm's way I guess it comes down to the more silly tone of AI but it's also a me thing to look at this and see missed potential because I know the nuance in those relationships and what it can do to a kids perception of self very well
