Ivan gets to watch @slayercne die

All hell was breaking loose, and Ingeras immediately knew, they had failed. The portal was open. He shook his head, kicking aside the man that Buffy had tossed from the top of the platform, with a disgusted sigh. “It’s done.” He said softly, looking at the others. “Now what?”
It wasn’t long before a response came, but not the one he was hoping for.
Ascending to the top, he had meant to just got to collect Buffy and Dawn. But just as soon as they came into view, Buffy was taking a running leap off the edge of the rickety steel, leaving a sobbing Dawn behind.
“Buffty”! He screamed, racing ahead to stand by her sister, staring as he watched the power flash and spark around the Slayer’s body inside of it. Watched her pained expression, arms coming around Dawn to hug her close to him, hiding her face in his chest. And when at last, Buffy went limp, the powerful magic dissipated and sent her body tumbling to the ground below.
He helped Dawn limp down carefully, feeling numb. Weak. He had seen his own wife’s death so many years ago now. And as they came to the bottom, he looked at Buffy’s body, she looked much more peaceful than he had expected. But it didn’t stop hot tears from filling his eyes. All these centuries, moving from continent to continent and finally finding her, only for...
She was gone.
The others looked to Dawn with sad eyes and Ingeras paused there with a moment before urging her to walk away with him. Leading her to go and stand off to the side where she couldn’t look, holding her as she cried, trying to soothe her. In the end he knew Buffy had done the right thing, not letting this child die in her place. Key or no key, Dawn was a person at the end of the day, one that Buffy loved very much.
But it didn’t hurt any less.
