-Brahmacharini
Second day of the nine days belong to Goddess Brahmacharini. The Goddess who did severe penance. The word ‘Brahmcharini’ is derivative of the word Brahma, which stands for Tapa (Penance). This form of Mata Shakti is close to Uma or Parvati. The goddess Brahmacharini wears white clothes, holds a japa mala (rosary) in her right hand and Kamandal, a water utensil in her left hand. Goddess Brahmchaarini is the “tapaswani ” roop of the goddess, who gives freedom from Kaama and krodh.” According to different versions of her myths, she desired to get married to lord Shiva and did tap for about 5000 years. She begins to live in mountains like Shiva, engage in the same activities as Shiva, one of asceticism, yogin and tapas – it is this aspect of Parvati that is deemed to be that of goddess Brahmacharini. Ascetic pursuit of Brahmacharini Maa draws the attention of Shiva and awakens his interest. He meets her in disguised form, tries to discourage her, telling her Shiva’s weaknesses and personality problems. Parvati refuses to listen and insists in her resolve. Shiva finally accepts her and they get married.

-Katyayani
Sixth day of the nine days belongs to Devi Katyayani. The goddess is seated on lion and has three eyes and four arms. The destroyer of evil demon– Mahishasur. She is associated with the fierce forms of Shakti or Durga, a Warrior goddess, which also includes Bhadrakali and Chandika, and traditionally she is associated with the colour red. Skanda Purana mentions her being created out of the spontaneous anger of Gods, which eventually led to slaying the demon, Mahishasura, mounted on the lion given to her by Goddess Parvati. She was born a daughter of Katyayana Rishi, born in the Katya lineage originating from Vishwamitra, thus called Katyayani, “daughter of Katyayana”. Her exploits are described in the Devi-Bhagavata Purana and Devi Mahatmyam, part of the Markandeya Purana attributed to sage Markandeya Rishi, who wrote it in Sanskrit ca. 400-500 CE. Over a period of time, her presence was also felt in Buddhist and Jain texts and several Tantric text, especially the Kalika-Purana(10th century), which mentions Uddiyana or Odradesa (Odisha), as the seat of Goddess Katyayani and Lord Jagannath. In Hindu traditions like Yoga and Tantra, she is ascribed to the sixth Ajna Chakra or the Third eye chakra and her blessings are invoked by concentrating on this point.

hELO, hI
Ok lmao I danced WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY too hard yesterday. But yk what i've never felt oxygen and the stress of exams go out of me that fast.
I kid you not in the last half hour I was yawning in the middle of dancing from the lack of oxygen. I HAVE PAIN FROM THE PAIN OF THE SIDE CRAMPS I HAD YESTERDAY.
ALSO LOOK AT THESE EARRINGSSSSSSS, (they're actually red idk why it looks so orange here)
TELL ME THIS ISN'T SO FREAKING PRETTY.
Also you guessed it, two songs in the earrings and hair clutch were in my bag and I was garbaing my existence into nothingness. I swear If I had just a little more space, i'd show my moves. But as it is, dance floors are VERY crowded, I hardly had any space move my hand let alone dance properly, i guess I sometimes got the space but otherwise, I was literally just shimmying on the spot.
God there is so much to tell I don't even know HOW to tell.
MY SKIRT ARRIVED AT 6:30 PM LAST NIGHT, LITERALLY 2 HOURS BEFORE I AHD TO GO.
Yeah it was crazy town over here.
Also I hate people that just stop in the middle of dancing to take cute pictures
Like bitch take yourself and your photos to mars, let me DANCE.
It's not that I don't take photoes or videos, it's that I don't take in the middle of dancing.
Also the DJ was SHIT. He was playing crappy Panjabi songs ON A DANDIYA NIGHT???? Also just in general wtf songs in the firs half, then started playing the same old hindi songs we ofcourse love, but like there are SO many songs to select from and you pick, breakup song and angerzi beat??
Do not get me wrong, I danced the same to sheila ki jawani and Chikni chameli as I did to Naatu Naatu, Lungi Dance(Specifically this becuase we were wearing skirts lmaoooo) and that new song Chuttamalle.
Also, he played all the weird songs in the beginning(after the garba songs) and then in the 2nd half he played all the 'good' songs one after the other, one after the other, nobody had even a moment to catch a breath we were literally falling to the ground after almost and hour of nonstop power dancing.
Over all, yk dandiya night is dandiya night, AND I ENJOYED A LOT(even though somehow we were all standing beside our teachers). and FINALLY I was able to forget worrying about each and everything.
And I had fun being the skirt carasoul(@historical-mess21)

-Siddhidatri
Ninth form of the Goddess Durga, Siddhidatri is worshiped on the ninth day of Navratri. She is Goddess of all eight siddhis and is worshipped by all Yogis, Sadhakas, Siddhas and Rishis-Munis.Siddhi means supernatural power or meditative ability, and Dhatri means giver. She fulfills all the divine aspirations and completes the mundane. She holds a lotus, mace, Sudarshana Chakra and shankha. In this form Durga removes ignorance and she provides the knowledge to realize that or Brahman. She is surrounded by Siddhas, Gandharvas, Yakshas, Devas (Gods) and Asura (Demons) worship her. The Siddhi that she provides is the realization that only she exists. She is the mistress of all achievements and perfections. Amazing Fact: She is served among the eight supernatural powers or the siddhis named Anima, Mahima, Garima, Laghima, Prapti, Prakambya, Ishitva and Vashitva. Anima means to reduce one’s body even the size of an atom; Mahima means to expand one’s body to an infinitely large size; Garima means almost becoming infinitely heavy; Laghima means becoming almost weightless; Prapti means having unrestricted access to all places; Prakambya means to realize whatever one desire; Ishitva means to possess absolute lordship and Vashitva is the power to subjugate all. Lord Shiva was blessed by Siddhidatri by being given by all the eight powers, they were requested and required to run the creation in his Ardhanareshwar form of half Shiva and half Shakti.

-Maha Gauri
Durga Ashtami is one of the most auspicious and remarkable days of this long Durga Festival. In India fasting is undertaken by many people on this holy occasion. It is believed that Goddess Kali appeared on this day from the forehead of Mother Durga and annihilated Chanda, Munda, and Rakthabija (the demons who were associates of Mahishasura). The 64 Yoginis and Ashta Nayikas (the eight consorts of Goddess Durga) are worshiped during the Durga Puja rituals on Mahashtami. The Ashta Nayikas, also known as Eight Shaktis, are interpreted differently in different regions of India. But ultimately, all the eight goddesses are incarnations of Shakti. They are the same powerful Divine Feminine, representing different energies. This brings a old tradition on Durga Ashtami originated in North India, to honor the kanjaks( little girls)in the home. A group of young, unmarried girls are invited into the home to honor them. The tradition is based on the belief that each of these young girlsrepresents the shakti (energy) of Durga on Earth. The group of girls are welcomed by washing their feet, welcoming them into the home, and the girls are fed with sweets and foods and honored with small gifts. On this day the devotees worship and adore the Goddess Maha Gauri. The goddess of beauty and women, clean and bright like a ray of light. Mahagauri is the eighth manifestation of goddess Durga and amongst the Navadurgas. According to Hindu mythology, Goddess Mahagauri has the power to fulfill all the desires of her devotees. The one who worships the goddess gets relief from all the sufferings in life. Mahagauri has four arms. Her right arm is in the pose of allaying fear and right lower hand holds a trident in it. She holds a tambourine in her left upper arm and the lower one is in the form of a blessing.
