"yes, i've met jamie tartt." andie laughs her special laugh. her laugh like chiming bells and cotton candy and carefree joy. her laugh that means romeo dixon is on the other end of the line. "where'd this sudden interest in football come from?"

he grumbles something noncommittal in place of an answer, and she can hear the way he's pulled his hoodie partially over his face like he does. she lets him get away with his non-answer, though, because he'd only ever started following the sport when she got serious about it. he would watch the games with her uncle with a notebook in hand, writing down every new phrase and then honest-to-god googling the players. and now that she's here, well... his interest has only extended to the efl.

"he's one of the loveliest people here, rome." jamie tartt and andie eliot, despite being in the wider career of football, would hardly be expected to run in the same circles. but that hasn't stopped either of them from being friendly. it's hard to love the same thing as someone else as much as they both do and not love the other person a little, too, andie thinks. "i mean it. it's so lonely here, but he's made me laugh." andie laughs then, this time fond and a little wistful and a little rueful. not like how she laughs with jamie. "it's impossible to understand half of what he says—" but then, he'd been kind enough to explain it to her and not even point out that she's taking a little too long to adjust to being away from home "—but he's very funny and welcoming and he's shown me around london. he's from manchester, which is north... i think." jamie, if he minds that andie's still all turned around here in the uk, hasn't made such clear to her. it's impossible to say how much of a comfort that has been. "you better be watching his richmond games romeo, all that love he gets is well deserved."
