YES PLEASE SHARE THEM! I want to see people’s interpretations of their relationships whether they’re frenemies, best friends, exes, whatever I am here for it!

Thank you, I have more worldbuilding headcanons than character interactions because I’m so curious about these trolls’ backstories. Like they have to come from somewhere and someone had hatch them despite how small their subgenre is. They’re so cool and mysterious, I have to answer questions about them in my brain!

I would love to see a Trolls special only focusing on the Bounty Hunter trolls and what shenanigans they get themselves into. I specifically have two ideas for a special, 1. the Bounty Hunters are force to work with each other and keep messing up multiple time because they’re not listening to each other, they only succeed when they ACTUALLY try. The second one is a someone hired them separately to catch a person and they’re all being very competitive, purposely mocking and ruining each other’s missions.

Now thinking about it, my tag story would be a nice ending for the Bounty Hunter trolls since their subgenre and previous subgenre trolls are finally being recognized and celebrated. I now want that special

I hope soon we can get new content of them, I know Chaz shows up twice in the Tv show and is even a villain in a game. Maybe soon we can expect more content of the other Bounty Hunters too?

Your AU is not goofy, it honestly sounds adorable and interesting. I can see after the ending of World Tour, the Bounty Hunter trolls are forgotten/left out by the main genres again. I guess their sub-genres weren’t big enough to make an overall impact to gain the respect of the main genres (despite them technically helping Branch and Poppy) so they go to Mount Rageous. Veener is struggling with his new freedom, like you said, but also becoming famous again because everyone thinks he’s a phony now.

This is where I will start throwing my own ideas for this AU, if you don’t mind. Veener and the Bounty Hunter trolls meet in a sketchy building then they strike a partnership with each other. Veener will become famous again by the Bounty Hunter trolls being his mentors, also have his image clear publicly because of their partnership and the Bounty Hunter will become famous in the Mount Rageous through Veener's upcoming popularity. Then we see them warming up and becoming friends with each other, talking about their life stories.

I just know I need to draw and write them more!

Why I don’t like the prospect of Black Ariel ?

Yes, this is how I refer to her, because that’s all she is : Disney Ariel, but black.

Disney, in their effort to make us forget about the fact that they underpaid women, decided to make a live action of the Little Mermaid, and it’ll have a poc as Ariel.

Of course, chaos follows, and as the media likes to only one point of view, I’ll use my free speech, my right as a law following citizen, to give mine, and possibly to tell others information they might miss.

1. Another live action…

Okay, this one may not be the main point, but it just add to my arguments later on.

When I heard about live action remake of the classical Disney tales, I was expecting...I guess the word is new. New things, like giving the rights of a franchise to a new director, and see what they can do with the basic ideas, like a new style, or even another pov of a story.

But they just redo the old one with human actors and cgi.

I think it’s a wasted opportunity. A lot of fans are always discussing about 2d or 3d Disney movies (Both are good, I prefer 2d because it’s just more pleasing to me), so to have Frozen in 2d made by somebody else could be interesting. But no, it’s just filming the equivalent of a theater show with more budget. I think the Beauty and The Beast remake is bad, and it’s the only one I saw, so maybe they got better.

Also, freak them for calling the Lion King live action, while they’re all freaking CGI, this is the laziest low they did. Dumbo may have a pass since he’s supposed to be « weird » with the bigger ears, but it’s still lazy.

I love « The Road to Eldorado », made by Dreamworks, as much as « Spirit » or « Treasure Planet ». They’re all unique movies, with unique settings and possibilities for new plots. I would love to see Disney taking a shot at the Monkey King’s tale, with the same sense of humor as Hercules regading gods’s business, with the Jade Emperor being like Hades and pissed about Wukong’s shenanigans. Hell, I’m sure you can find african tales that can be amazing to see animated. So yeah, they can take a new story, instead of just putting up the same thing Todd Howard style and expect praise when nothing is different.

If you say « But it IS different, we have a poc in the main role », let’s get to the second point :

2. The Little Underwater Woman of Colored Skin

« I don’t like the way you said black »

So, we finally have a poc as a main role in a Disney movie. Oh, I guess Mulan, Pocahontas, Jasmine, Tiana, Kuzco (come on, he is a disney prince) and any other that I might have missed doesn’t count.

My point here is that if they want to make a live version of any of the movies those characters are from, they can and already did with Aladin and the Will Smith stand (an odd addition to the lore). I mean a live action Kuzco with the dance numbers could be interesting, if they let someone a new story above it, because you cannot translate all the animated scenes in live action without losing some jokes or essence from it.

Now about the case of Ariel...can a race underwater that doesn’t get any direct sunlight actually get a dark skin ? Just a reminder that Ariel isn’t the only one mermaid in the movie and in the original book, it’s a living race that forbids human interactions, so if Ariel is black, all the mermaids are black. If some are blacks, are they the minority or majority ? Do they have any regards to the skin color, like south or north mermaids ? Are the humans outside white or any other color ? It’s the whole deal with making Ciri’s actress a poc, because it doesn’t fit the setting. And it is as restricting as making an african tale story, because why would an european be the hero in a village deep in the Congo ?

Plus, it’s because it adds nothing, it feels like not important. After all, it’s just a skin color. But it’s the whole point of this action, to promote skin colored actors, so why are they forcing them in remade movies where they weren’t here. Remember white washing ?

3. Disney needs good points for...well, himself

I hope that when you read this, it was easy to understand. If not, it’s fine, it’s either my train of thoughts that tend to go into odd schemes and tracks or simply you that denies facts. I’m open to debate, as an opinion exist to be challenged and is prone to change, not to be kept in a chest and scream « national sozialist » when someone dares to say the opposite...unlike Disney.

Did Disney made some old movies with a lot of what can be considered racism in them ? Yes, if you consider stereotypes to be the same as saying a race is inferior to another. Times were different back then, people thought of them as jokes, other as facts. But we can’t judge someone that doesn’t know a fact. If someone told you all your life that the Earth is flat and you learn the truth, you deny it as first (we have the same reaction to the truth than to death, because in both ways, the world you know will change), but after a while, you accept it and now the Earth is round, or close to a sphere (apparently it’s not a perfect sphere ? I’ll need more details, but it’s not the point). It’s not your fault, as the thing you believe made sense until proven otherwise. But if you deny the truth by believing in your lies blindly, it is your fault and really guilty. So stop saying « this is racist » without context, « this is sexist » without checking when it was made.

This generation thinks nothing can be forgiven, and all is unaffected by context and time, you’re guilty until proven innocent, and white hetero men are shamed to be white cis men.

And I haven’t talk about the politicians and the media.

Disney is using those ideas to promote themselves, because if someone is against them later on, Disney can unleash a horde of SJW on everybody, and media will always follow the richest or the one that can actually harm them.

But Disney made a mistake : Star Wars. They messed up big time, and they need money asap. So they just do anything, especially what can bring discord, to get free publicity and profit from movie sales. They rather satisfy a crowd rather than do something all can enjoy. George Lucas, you were misunderstood...

To conclude :

I’m not saying that the live action remake of the Little Mermaid will be a bad movie, since the original is good, and they have nothing to change (but they will, and it’s going to make less sense), but to simply say that changing the main character race is not something important is denying years of progress against white washing, it’s agreeing that making a blackface is a legitimate move, it’s assuming that race is a character trait, like easy to anger or vengeful, and cannot be compatible with other traits (Can a black person enslave others ? Can a white person be mindful of the people in front of him?).

It’s saying that this Ariel is really not just Ariel from the animated movie, a mermaid that sacrifices her voice to live with the one she loves, who then fights her biggest threat and loves her even if she’s mute, who decided to go beyond the rules of her land to follow her dreams, who is a ginger girl, a trait rarer than being a poc in the Disney Princesses catalog.

It’s believing that Black Ariel is not a Ariel alternative skin.

Thoughts on She-Ra season 2 in no particular order:

So many good character arcs and interactions this season! Adora continuing to struggle with forging her own identity as She-Ra while also learning that she doesn’t have to be perfect, as long as she’s got her friends by her side. Catra embracing her newfound power and every bad lesson Shadow Weaver ever taught her (whether she realizes it or not), and so much more.

Glimmer doesn’t get as much of a personal arc as she did in season one since the focus has expanded to a larger cast, but I do like Glimmer’s struggle with accepting Frosta as a friend because the latter reminds her too much of herself (which has a dark reprise when Shadow Weaver uses the same line on Catra, only she’s lying).

Also I love the episode with Bow’s dads! Especially the line “I could never hate you. Ever.” There have been so many episodes like this in other series where one of the characters has been lying to their family about their life, but this one really knocked it out of the park.

Speaking of which, two canon gay characters in a Dreamworks cartoon, both of whom are still alive and are distinct characters with their own personalities and quirks, introduced with almost no fanfare when most shows would be waiting for applause for the gay representation? Benefits of having a lesbian showrunner.

Also the bit where Scorpia straight up tries to ask Catra out.

I came out of this season with a new appreciation for Scorpia, honestly. She’s not intellectually smart, and she can have trouble reading a room, but she’s very caring and loyal and emotionally intelligent. My favorite scene is the one where, in the middle of holding Adora prisoner/babysitting her, she just takes a break and bonds with Seahawk over the fact that no one really appreciates them, and comes out of that scene with the realization that even if she is overlooked, having integrity and looking out for those you care about still matters, even if you’re the only one who notices.

And Entrapta! I love her arc this season, and I didn’t expect the Rebellion to figure out she was alive so quickly. Even though we all saw it coming, that scene where she tells Bow and Glimmer that she’s honestly happier with the Horde because she’s made much greater strides with her research there was an emotional gut punch.

I also lilke how she curries favor with Hordak by appealing to his scientific side, whereas Catra tries to prove herself by showing how well she can conquer (even if the admin work is something she didn’t foresee having to deal with). Entrapta’s unique way of seeing the world means that she doesn’t understand why certain social structures are set up the way they are, causing her to not be all that concerned with Hordak the way Catra is.

Speaking of which, portals! We know already that Etheria is stranded in the Despondos dimension, with no stars and no other planets (but plenty of moons). I assume Hordak’s plan involves finding a way out of this dimension, into the one he presumably came from.

I love how Catra’s time as Bow and Glimmer’s prisoner is a complete lampoon of what happened when Adora was in that situation. Catra is such an entertaining character when she’s being a little shit, and that bit was perfect.

Although why Bow and Glimmer called her a “hostage” rather than a prisoner of war makes me wonder just how much of a military hierarchy they actually follow.

The D&D episode! I especially liked the art-style shifts, and the way Adora grew increasingly exasperated as their plan continued to unravel into madness. The fact that they figured out a way to actually implement their ideas by the end was honestly pretty awesome. Also, Lonnie got more screentime! Lonnie is seriously underrated.

I also liked how much this line revealed about Adora: “If the plan isn’t perfect--if I’m not perfect...” She’s still struggling with her insecurities, but now she has friends to help her stay grounded.

The evil disc returns! And they set up a nice moral dilemma that shows how extremely short-sighted Catra can be when it comes to Adora. Yes, these giant robots made by the First Ones are literally tearing apart the structure around them, but all she can think about is how she finally has power over Adora. Good thing Scorpia is there to make the choice she couldn’t.

Also, the contrast between “Please, you wouldn’t have the guts” and the look of abject fear on her face when Adora is no longer in control was great.

Entrapta saying “That confirms she is organic matter” also makes the line from last season about taking Adora apart make more sense.

I liked the deeper dive into the First Ones this season, and I find myself agreeing with the theory that Mara didn’t actually “go crazy,” but rather realized that the First Ones were doing something wrong and rose up to stop them. Idk, something about Light Hope seems vaguely off to me.

Also holy fucking shit that Shadow Weaver backstory. Learning that Glimmer’s father had a hand in what led to her leaving Mystacor was a lore drop I didn’t even know I needed, but it casts a lot of things in a new light.

That scene where Catra believes she’s finally reached some kind of understanding with Shadow Weaver, only to realize she’s been manipulated and played for a fool, was genuinely heartwrenching.

Also that ending! FUCK! FUCK! Catra gets caught in a lie by the one person least likely to forgive her, and Shadow Weaver is standing over Adora while she sleeps. That’s one hell of a cliffhanger.

anyway I don’t ever expect this blog to EVER get any attention but just in case I think I might as well actually explain who the heck these guys are.

(note: this blog is basically, as the blog description says, just for “ramblings”. I reblog posts that make me think of my OCs to here and add on a few things.)

Yan, Kuro, Zhen, and Jing are a group that I’ve dubbed the “Sinosquad” since they’re all from the Sinoquan Empire. ie, from the same world/universe and interact with each other at some point. Yan has two versions to his character though, which I’ve named RPspawn!Yan and AtG!Yan. This is due to..... complicated things; I might explain in a separate post at some point because this is supposed to be short summaries. AtG stands for “Around the Galaxy” which is supposed to be the name of the... world..? that I originally made him in. It’s a sci-fi world. Actually scratch that. It’s set in the Star Wars universe. It’s not an original world; it never was, but AtG encompasses all the linked characters and plotlines I’ve made (and it’s pretty huge).

Yan (full name Yan Wang; Chinese name 王延): eventual emperor of the Sinoquan (ascends the throne at around age 30). I have his entire life story plotted out from birth to “death”/downfall (he goes into stasis instead of dying when he’s around 50-60 so I can pick up his story again 1000 years later :)

Kuro (full name Kuro Honda; 本田黑): Yan’s cousin, who’s more like his brother, and only exists in this role for the RPspawn!Yan.

Zhen (full name Zhen Sumuru; 舒穆鲁真): doesn’t have a consistent backstory/role yet, but is probably heir to ruling a fairly large/important region of the Sinoquan empire. the only consistent thing is that he’s supposed to be Yan’s love interest... eventually..... but that’s very late game and if this were ever a published work then it’d be “spoilers” that they actually end up together.

Jing (full name Jing Du; 都京): ah.... Yan’s “friend” during his teen/ young adult years. the only consistent backstory/role he has is that his mother is influential and he’s at least reasonably wealthy. Lives in the Sinoquan capital.

Eli and Sera are dragon-winged people. Product of genetic experiments; born and raised in a research lab/institute.

Eli is the first succesful subject (ie first winged human capable of flight). Actually most of the others died in early childhood, infancy, or didn’t even make it past fetal development.

Sera is the “second-gen” subject; has better/stronger wings than Eli.

They’re not treated like “lab rats”. I’m a STEM field student. I believe in painting an image that scientists are actual human beings, not monsters/robots in lab coats. They were raised in a kind environment by people who care about them, and they expect to be treated with respect by the people in the lab.

Jet and Dev weren’t created in the same universe (Jet’s technically a RotG OC) but I often merge the two to intertwine their stories. mostly because they were my first OCs and I was bored and wanted them to interact.

Jet (full name Jet Black): as mentioned, technically a Rise of the Guardians (yes the Dreamworks movie) OC. Pitch Black’s “apprentice”, sort of. (I’ve been trying to remove him from being dependant on RotG, in which case Pitch is known as Piceous instead). Has fire powers and mirrors/foils Jack Frost in many ways. Complicated backstory about the fire powers; it’s there but not gonna elaborate in this post (maybe some other time).

Dev (full name Dev Xavishk, or Xandevishk): a.... demon? devil? technically from a world where those things mean something slightly different from conventional definitions. Hell itself in this world is completely different from what it’s usually known as, with the only similarities being that it’s “underground” (sort of) and fiery/hot. There’s a bunch of incomplete lore on his world that I never quite finished up. Anyway, usually I have his role as some sort of government agent sort of guy, but he’s quite young on his first mission (~18?).

Jet and Dev are my two oldest “true” OCs (all previous ones being self-inserts of some sort, from when I had very little experience with or concept of “fandom” and just imagined stuff for fun).

Koris: independant OC from some generic fantasy world. has ice powers and lives in a mountain in a mansion by himself because, despite having nobles as parents, they were jerks who treated their servants poorly so after his parents died from illness the servants ended up ditching the place. He is very lonely actually please give him friens

Sierka: independant OC set in modern world with some superhuman elements. Sierka has life-drain abilities. story aspects are kind of shaky but they probably end up living by themself at a fairly young age, involving themself in crime and manipulating their way through threats. Except it’s just to extort money from crime lords. Basically the only thing keeping this dude from mass murder is their own conscience.

Sian (full name Sianyte Weil [pronounced as German, or just Vel]): I have forgotten this dude in previous group posts. Oops. I’ll try to remember them from now on.... anyway they have invisibility powers and also anxiety haha. The extent of their powers is that they can turn things that they’re “wearing” or are “on” them invisible. It has to be done consciously and it takes a lot more effort to turn something that they’re just holding invisible but it’s still possible. Probably set in modern “superhero” genre worlds. Works for whatever groups will pay them, usually for spying missions. His abilities only work when he’s silent (ie not speaking) though, and automatically stops working if he talks.

They also sort of have flying abilities to the extent that, one, they only work when he’s invisible, and two, he can only control vertical movement up and down. He can use any lateral momentum from pushing against solid things but can’t freely propel himself laterally.

Yeah I know his abilities are really weirdly specific; idk why either; don’t question it :\

Well, hmm, here’s a bonus. Klashta Neali: the OC that shares a name with my first pseudonym/alias. I can’t remember which came first: did I make the alias for myself, then later made the OC and lazily gave it that name, or did I first make it as an OC, and then lazily started using the name as an alias? I dunno. Either way, my using the name as a pseudonym is completely unrelated to the OC...

Klashta “Kayin” Neali: Star Wars OC with a long detailed backstory. Was Darth Vader’s apprentice at some point, in a situation very similar to Galen Marek, but then got ditched around mid-to-early teen age.... I had a very detailed timeline written, but that was a long time ago; I can’t remember now. Was a bounty hunter for the next stage of her life. Then eventually she just?? goes into exile???? there was something about finding Revan’s teachings and meditating a lot; idk it gets kind of random.

voltron season 2 thoughts

this post is going to be scattered as fuck and full of spoilers obviously so beware

i’m gonna bullet point this shit because i think better in bullet points

things i really liked

keith’s plotine! y’all know keith is my home fry so i really enjoyed the development he was getting

allura, while i don’t think she had enough focus, still had a stellar plot and development

we got to see lots of the dynamic between allura & coran, hunk & lance, hunk & keith, and shiro & keith, which i really liked

THE SPACE MALL EPISODE WAS EVERYTHINNNG

the animation and worldbuilding?? top notch, made me bust five hundred nuts like idk how but the animation was even better this season

i liked how the galra resistance was set up as this fuckin illuminati ass cryptic ass order that hadn’t gotten very far because they never took any chances, it wasn’t what i was expecting at all

pidge had amazing dialogue in this season and bex did such a good job at voicing her!! really loved how dynamic pidge was!!

where was lance????? like the exploration of lance’s insecurities was neat but it felt too rushed and really shallow, and he was just sort of shoved to the side for the most part, I WANT MORE LANCE DEVELOPMENT GODDAMNIT

also ahem hunk is more than just food and fat jokes what the fuck?? he’s literally the second-smartest paladin after pidge, and i feel like that was ignored a lot in favour of making jokes

imma be real the lack of klance interaction was :(

in general the lack of interaction and relationship development between all the members of team voltron was disappointing, they still treat allura as if she’s on a bit of a piedestal, and i just want them all to see each other as equals

it felt really crammed, but the first season was also crammed and the fact that they were originally only signed to do two seasons probably explains why it feels rushed, i’m assuming the later seasons will move at a slower pace now that they know they’ve got more mctime

my last and probably biggest peeve is that while i digested the plot fine, we never got to see how the characters reacted to the things happening!! we only ever really saw shiro, hunk, and allura reacting to keith being part galra, we never got to see them digest the events around them and that made it all feel stiff

in (quint)essence

i’ve seen some people say they’e disappointed in how rushed and crammed this season feels, and i am a lil disappointed too but i was also expecting it because they were originally only signed on for two seasons so this season was originally planned to be the end

obviously since the show has grown popular their contract has been extended, so i’m pretty confident that the pace will slow down in the seasons to come

i’m really pleased with season 2, the things that bothered me will most likely be better in later seasons now that they’re not in such a time crunch, and i’m excited to see what happens next
