"Oh come on, Junior, you know you're never gonna get the same view on the TV!"

Marlene pulled the headset off her brother's head.

"Aw Marly, do we have to go that far just to see a stupid sunset?"

"Yes, we do. Now get your hoverboard."

Marlene brought out her own, customized with stickers and tape.

They skitched a ride to the edge of town, just in time.

They hopped off the road, which got less and less renovated as they went farther out. They sat down near a fence.

"Looks great, doesn't it?" Marlene smiled.

"Looks stupid." Junior grumbled.

"You look stupid, Loser." Marlene punched his shoulder.

They threw insults at each other till they could barely breathe between laughing. The sun had set and left a heavy red glow across the sky.

They both got alarm calls on their watches, their parents for sure.

Marlene sighed, "We had better head home."

"The last one home is a chicken!"

"You can dream, Junior!"

And with that, the siblings started their race home.

Happy Halloween everyone! Thanks for joining me on my art adventures this month! I think it’s kind of fitting that I started the month by drawing them watching the Steel Samurai and ended it with them dressing up as the characters. It wasn’t even on purpose originally. They were two separate ideas that accidentally created bookends for the month

I will be turning most of the pieces from this month into prints for my Etsy shop and I’ll give an update when that happens!

First prompt was "Doctor" so I decided to go with Derbear since he's the one who started it all. In particular his Hope Hospital look since it's him finally becoming a fully fledged doctor.

This is a redraw of Doc, Marty and Einie from this piece I made ~3 years ago [also made it my first post on here!]

ALRIGHT, here's the part where I talk about the art for paragraphs on end.

So I noticed that I had more of a western (comic book-y?) style in the 2020 version. But you can clearly see the anime inspo in the 2023 version. I've been watching Astro Boy 2003 (why? long story) and a couple of Studio Ghibli and Otomo movies. So it tracks... had no idea it'd influence me that much tho... 🤔 crazy

but LOOK, I did Einie justice this time 😤 lesgoooo 👏👏👏

imagine if everyone likes the 2020 version better 😫 i'll exit the mc server i aint playin. I mean the 2020 version is still "good" but uh could use some more polish. but give past me a break, the old set up was a pain to work with ngl [wacom intuos tablet].

I feel like there's still a lot I need to improve on, and that makes me excited to keep goin 🤩

doctober 2023 || day 6 Ticking Time Bomb

Marty and his evil counterpart stared at the intricate bomb fused into the fabric of the space-time continuum rippling between their timelines.

“I didn’t put that there,” No Pines Marty insisted. “You know I’m the first one to own up to my shit. This isn’t me.”

Marty wasn’t buying it. “Who else is planting time-ending time bombs across the continuum?”

“That would be me.”

Doc entered – a version of Doc with brass goggles on his head and a logo on his lab coat.

“3P Laboratories?” Marty asked.

No Pines Marty sucked in a breath.

“Fuck.”

“What?”

“He’s from Triple Pines.”

I posted these but never got around to posting it here due to the holidays! I’ve got four through six on the up and up, I just have to finish editing them as I wasn’t able to before the holidays started. That being said, I’m hoping I’ll have them posted by end of day tomorrow at the latest!

Alex's rant on why Jules is docs boy

Now you might wonder a few things:

"Alex, what the hell? It's an unusual post from you?" An unlikely comment, but please read till the end for a small surprise :)

"Doc does not play favorites" You are right, but I am taking the "Parents kid" saying as which parent the kid has a stronger bond with. (Verne is Claras boy)

"Doctober?" Nah, mate. (Okay but maybe.)

LET'S BEGIN! Spoilers for animated series.

First, First ever animated episode, and in the first live-action sequence we find out Doc and Jules sometimes invent together.

I will mention that Verne thinks Jules is docs favorite when he loves them equally. Let's move on.

LOOK AT THEM.

Committing theft. Listen, it can be a very normal father and son experience. And it also can be very bonding.

Second, "Witchcraft"

DO. I. HAVE. TO. SAY. ANYTHING.

Third, literally the whole "Dickens of a Christmas" Episode.

"It's Jules, and I wish to be regarded as a resposnsible member of the Brown family"

"And I should guard these keys with my life"

If that is not docs boy I don't know who is. And then Jules persists in catching the thief but not telling Doc. Maybe in fear of him being disappointed. (and Verne has no problem with it)

Conclusion? Jules looks up to Doc. It's obvious, I know. But it's cute. And I love them. Jules also says Great Scott. How much are you willing to bet he will become a scientist?

Finally, the end. But wait, there is more. For June of Doom, I have been writing a one-shot with these two. I am afraid it will flop, so Feedback and opinions are very appreciated. It took 2 months. And @unknooooow had to sit countless times to listen to me ramble and change the story so many times. And another person who wanted to be tagged: @future-boi :D

Also, it is the longest thing I wrote in one chapter :D

And here it is :)

In a solid day or two, art will drop of this.

⭐️⭐️ for directors cut!

I mentioned having gone through three ideas for "McFly July Chapter 23: Family Ties." The original idea was Jennifer teasing Marty that "the kid from Family Ties" looked an awful lot like him. The second idea was my OC, Agatha Petersen (Marlene's girlfriend/wife from 1922) visiting the graves of her long-dead family members. Even when I settled on the final idea, I had started with the Marty of the 1990s running into Marlene, Agatha, and their children in 2034. To quote the cut part:

He hadn’t meant to end up forty years in the future. He had been helping Doc test out what he had called “spatial displacement,” getting the DeLorean to teleport across space as well as time. The unmanned tests had gone very well, but when he tried to travel forty miles, he went forty years instead—while staying in the same place. And since the DeLorean couldn’t yet fly while traveling in space—“it’s a peculiarity of the software, Marty,” Doc had said, something to do with the computer chips of 1994 barely being up to the task as it was—so Marty had been driving on open ground. Which meant he’d blown a tire on a curb when he went from open country road in the 90s to a subdivision in the future. He’d fortunately been able to call upon his future family for assistance upon his arrival. They’d fixed the car, and Verne had figured out what had gone wrong with the spatial displacement program. Once that was done, there needed to be one more test before Marty could return to 1994.

ALSO: I want to note that I've snuck in two minor references to Honey, I Shrunk the Kids: The TV Series in my fics. In McFly July, Jules is quoted as quoting the series' version of Wayne Szalinski in Chapter 12—"A fist rarely has the insight to win an argument." Meanwhile, in A Royal Doctober Tiff mentions Princess Jennifer possibly being set up with "that half-wit cousin of yours with the extra thumb," which was a throwaway line from H. Gordon Jennings, Wayne's boss, in one episode.

(Seriously, it was one of my favorite childhood shows, it's never gotten an official DVD release, and the only other people I knew who watched it were my fucking parents. Even AO3 doesn't have a fandom tag for it, just the movie!)

4. HELL YEAH I always take the opportunity to advertise fanfic 🤩 Its about post trilogy Marty being a bit angsty about the new timeline and missing the old timeline. But it has a happy ending. I think its the closest to canon because other ones with the same premise lean so much into the angst (not that that's bad!!! Just saying it's not the same vibes as the movies u kno) Its also old but holy shit, it contains the most cathartic end to the series. The much needed closure 🤌✨️

Back to the Future: The [Part III] Musical

Tracklist:

1. Dear Marty

Doc reading the letter, and then them going to the graveyard. The song is similar to Doc explaining the time travel plan in Future Boy.

2. New Life

Marty at the McFly Farm. This is Seamus and Maggie's song, explaining why they came to Hill Valley, etc. while Marty is like "where tf am I" in the background. Similar to Cake in the sense that Seamus and Maggie think Hill Valley is so great.

3. Working Toward the Future

This is the introduction of 1885 Hill Valley, probably all the workers explaining how Hill Valley is going to be a great town, and just dreaming/singing abt the future in general.

4. A Way Out

This song is both the 1885 Doc intro and Doc and Marty brainstorming what to do before Monday. Definitely a duet between them, switching ideas and such.

5. Ravine in my Heart

This is one takes place after Doc drops Clara off at the teacherage, and is basically Clara's love song. So yeah the whole thing is Clara swooning over Doc. Similar to Pretty Baby but less awkward.

6. How It's Gonna Work

Doc explains the gameplan for the train heist, etc. Basically It Works but different... sorry

7. Care to Dance

A mix between Double Back from the movie's actual soundtrack and a Doc & Clara duet (they are so silly) this is the festival dance scene.

8. Emmett's Lament

Emmett's boo-hoo wa wa wa song after ditching Clara and also him just dropping spoilers on the future.

9. Cutting it Close

Marty freaking out before the gunfight and then transitioning into a duet between Buford and Marty right before the shooting.

10. Ravine in my Heart Reprise

Clara changed the whole "His love fills the ravine in my heart." to "He left a ravine in my heart." So yeah Clara's boo-hoo wa wa wa song after Doc rejects her. But it ends with her getting off the train realizing he still loves her.

11. Making History (The Way You Want)

Welcome Doc's family! Basically the song that wraps up the whole show. Similar to For The Dreamers but not really.

Headcanons for what Marty and Jennifer are like as parents, and how Doc/his family interact with the kids?

Anon, this is such a late reply, and I'm sorry. I'm making a concerted effort to finally get to some of the asks I've been neglecting.

Also, I'm almost positive that I once made a post of Marty and Jen as parents headcanons, but I must have forgotten to add a link in my pinned post, and the Tumblr search function is useless, so I can't find it. Anyway, I may end up repeating some of what I put in there or even contradicting it, lol.

Of course, I'm going with the improved, happy Jen and Marty marriage timeline for this. So, as parents, they're a pretty united front. They're both very involved in all aspects of the kids' lives from the start and excited to embark on such a wonderful journey for their family.

Being first-time parents and also having twins leaves Marty and Jen utterly exhausted for, like, a solid year or two. They're happy, but they're tired. As such, they're sure to divide up the work, take over for the other when needed, and also rely pretty heavily on family for support. Jen's parents help out a lot, as do George and Lorraine. I can see Aunt Linda and Uncle Dave stopping by a good deal as well to help with tasks around the house or just watch the twins for a little while so Marty and Jen can sleep.

Doc and Clara play a very big role in the kids' lives! Of course! Doc and Clara love those McFly kids!!! Makes me lose my mind to think about. They don't even wait to be called upon or anything; they just show up at the house, announce they're taking Junior and Marlene for the day, hand a home-cooked meal to Jen and Marty, and then leave. Marty and Jen are incredibly thankful for their help, and Doc and Clara love having babies around again.

Doc is like the very chaotic uncle, but in like...the most responsible way. He's got Dad-Mode down pat at this point, and he slips right into it with Junior and Marlene, but he also knows how to let them have some (supervised) wild fun. He plays games that teach them science concepts and lets them help with small projects of his when they're able to do it safely. He also reads lots of Jules Verne to them. Marty definitely calls Doc one day and goes, "Junior and Marlene are playing an elaborate game of Around the World in 80 Days outside. Can I assume this is your influence?" The kids also start digging a giant hole in the yard at some point, and that's how Marty and Jen know they've started reading Journey to the Center of the Earth.

Clara absolutely dotes on the twins every opportunity she gets. They both find such comfort in her presence and love spending time with her. She has a special place in her heart for Junior. On nice nights, she takes Junior and Marlene outside to sit on blankets and look at the stars. She teaches them about the constellations and the stories that go with them.

Okay, this is something I know I mentioned in that other post I can't find: Marty writes individual songs for Junior and Marlene that he sings to them at night. It starts off as something he does to help them sleep at night, but it's a tradition that continues until the kids are much older.

Jennifer likes to involve the kids in as many experiences as possible, so she's always looking for little art classes they can take, museums to take them to, hobbies to introduce to them, etc. She also sets aside days every so often where she just takes one kid along for an afternoon of doing something special with them that align to their interests. Maybe on those days, Marty takes the other kid and does the same.

Lately, I've been thinking about Marty and Jen having a third child at some point and what that scenario would look like. One thing I know for sure is that they would not have an "M" name.
