day 14! a whole week! :0 who remembers that superhero au i had with dnb? the super angsty one? yeah i got a little carried away and wrote more
A metallic click sounded behind him just as something cold pressed to the back of his head. Techno raised his arms in surrender, emphasizing their emptiness. "Tell me why I shouldn't blow your brains out right here and now," Punz spoke, a tone icier than the steel of the gun they held.
"Ya know what happens if you spill my blood," he said back, remaining still and calm.
"Not if the bullet kills you first."
"Ya wanna test that theory?"
The barrel pushed against the occipital bone of his skull, nudging his head slightly downward. "It'd shoot clean through in less than a millisecond. You wouldn't be able to react."
"I'm just here to talk to Dream, Punz."
"He's not here."
"Then where is he?"
"Why the hell would I tell you?"
"Put the gun down, Punz." Techno jolted at the new voice and glanced up to find Dream standing some feet away, his arms crossed over his chest and disapproval in his pinched brow.
He didn't have his mask on, or his cloak for that matter. Dressed in a sleeveless black turtleneck and baggy pants, dirty blond hair frizzed out of a small ponytail, and dark bags under his eyes; he looked... exhausted.
"I told you I could handle it," they petulantly muttered, but nevertheless slid the gun back in its holster. Punz kept a glare on him as they walked around him.
"Not here, huh?" Techno smirked as he let his hands drop.
"Don't push it, hero scum," he spat, curling his lip before returning to neutrality as he reached Dream's side.
"Why are you here, Technoblade?" Dream asked, visibly getting impatient.
"I just wanna talk. I have somethin' to show ya."
"How'd you even find us?"
"Someone's gotten sloppy with their disguises," Techno teased as he stuck his hand in his pocket to get his phone. Punz's own hand instantly went to their holster, but Dream stopped them. After a moment of scrolling, Techno turned the screen around for them to see. They both squinted for a second only for Punz to huff and turn away, flustered, while Dream fixed him with a deep frown. "Ole reliable. Convenience store video surveillance."
"You just had to have those honey buns..."
"Hey, I don't get on your case about those brownies. Don't get on mine!"
"Those brownies aren't why Technoblade is on our damn doorstep!"
"How can we be sure you're even here alone?" Punz turned to Techno, definitely to avoid furthering the argument. "You've probably got all your hero buddies out there ready to storm the place!"
"I didn't bring any friends. I came alone. You can trust me." Techno held a hand over his heart, sincerity in his voice and expression.
Punz scoffed, rolling their eyes. Dream, however, took a minute to study him.
After a long silence, Dream let out a heavy sigh. "C'mon. We can talk upstairs." He nodded to Techno and pivoted, intending to head for the stairs if Punz hadn't grabbed his wrist.
"Are you serious? You're just gonna let this guy waltz in here and do what he wants?"
"Might I remind you how 'this guy' found us in the first place?" Dream narrowed his gaze at them which promptly shut them up. They loosened their hold, letting him yank back his arm and ascend the staircase while they directed their glare at Techno instead.
"If you try anything," they hissed, pointing an accusatory finger, "even Dream won't be able to help you." With that, Punz followed after Dream. The stairs cried out under the force of their stomping feet.
Techno released a breath he hadn't realized he was holding. Of all the guys Dream could've gotten as his partner in crime, he just had to choose the one with such a personal vendetta against him...

note: while this has not yet been translated into English, there are editions of it in Czech (Bílý vlk), Dutch (De witte wolf), and Spanish (El lobo blanco), as well as a Danish book that German Wikipedia and the DNB claim is a translation, except that it’s titled Den Store Gonds sønner, so I’m a bit skeptical. if you have read any of these, vote yes! (and if you’ve read Den Store Gonds sønner, let me know if it is actually a translation of this! the main character’s name is Thomas.)
vote yes if you have finished the entire book.
vote no if you have not finished the entire book.

What type of music do you like / have you been jamming to recently? Any recommendations?
(my internet died halfway through this so i nearly had to rewrite it)
you caught me at a bad time i was schmooving to a sewerslvt playlist yesterday ;-;
okay to be serious for a moment. uh. i don't think i have super good or interesting (or normal) tastes in music? i can point you to some of the things i think are cool and good, and i can also point you to things that i listen to for mood.
ive also probably mentioned some of these before (probably all of them?) so sorry if there's repeats
(okay this ended up being longer than expected so cut vv)
good (mostly not depressing stuff?):
Bill Wurtz – weirdly dreamlike jazzy stuff (?) i recommend 'At the Corner Store' and then i recommend you listen to all his other stuff
Ujico*/Snail's House: ive probably ranted about this guy before; 'Cosmo Funk' is probably your entry level snails house song. sweet adorable future bass, my go to for free serotonin
Heaven Pierce Her – Ultrakill: Violence, the game's newest EP. generally melancholic but really sick especially in context. 'War Without Reason' is probably my new favourite track in the whole game? (you can tell i like amen breaks lol)
also ofc i have to mention john / TOOBOE!! shout out to @donutinsideofashark for introducing me to this guy. some recs: 'Tablet', 'Roman', and 'Appare kanpai' – stuff goes hard and makes me wish i knew jp so i could actually remember lyrics
mood (depressing and/or weirder stuff):
vivivivivi's Dead but Dreaming: concept album about a dead god, mostly chiptune instrumental stuff until the second-last track – personally I LOVE this album, but as someone said, it probably sucks unless you have autism (disclaimer: i'm not diagnosed autistic, this is a reference to the pinned comment). this particular album influences a lot of my works to be honest
two more vivivivivi beepbox albums, ones that are a little more lively: Sisyphus and Silly Little Songs from my Silly Little Head. probably not to the tastes of sane and normal people but i like the beeps and boops :)
sewerslvt: breakbeat stuff from a dark place. people seem to not like sewerslvt fans which is why i'm reluctant to talk about this one but whatever. idk what you'd call their genre (i've heard it described as ambient jungle, trance, something or other dnb, but most importantly NOT breakcore. call sewerslvt breakcore and you are signing up for a hell of a flamewar) listen if you like amen breaks and hate yourself (i hope not…) idk what to even recommend here… i stumbled across her first with Drowning In The Sewer years ago. i've been getting back into their stuff recently, which is probably not a good sign for my mental health… currently listening to 'was it weird that i listened to im god by clams casino's when i lost my virginity' which is a hell of a title
Heaven Pierce Her again – The Enigma of Heaven and Other Daily Delusions: weird album about religion and the internet. since this is hakita again there are amen breaks. good if ur fuckin WEIRD. i recommend most of HPH's work
i've also been listening to an ultrakill fan artist called Marzuku, who does – guess what – more amen break stuff. i don't know man, but 'At Ends' is pretty good
shit fuck of course the jvne section ends up being a whole paragraph just to say don't listen to their stuff.
THAT'S IT IT'S TIME TO WRAP THIS UP THANK YOU FOR COMING TO MY TED TALK. damn this got long. this is what happens when you ask me about my interests LMFAO

Has anybody ever drilled you?
Has anybody ever killed you?
I got sammie bags of Es, mollies
She said that her sister’s middle name’s Molly
I got somebodys in the party
Nobodys can’t even call me
Today watch me dance the pain away
Girls committing sins on me like it’s her holiday
Girls selfless fucking never fucking seen it
I got fucking Kleenex thick clouds from the vaporizer
No fucking on the cctv
Corner store run camera models modeling
She said that her sister’s middle name’s Molly
Set each other free as much as there are commas
Real one on my jersey front
Nothing on it but r e a l o n e
Rick Sanchez jungle juicing the rum punch
Michelin stars in her tum tum
High from the DNB with the jungle
Climbers hitting the bells, everything’s rung true
You can’t see the tongue on these Bapesta shoes
Don’t even sag, she feeling all the swag
Why have they kept their tail between their legs?
Why have thou forsaken for God’s sake?
Sake bottles clank like vintage gas and brakes
And she twist her legs out like some hokey pokeying
Heating up again hear it in my voicing
Ooh choice words for it now there’s less choices
But move move move now
Or groove groove groove now
And smooth smooth smooth smooth
Showing everybody you

Transphonica is quite an archaeological haven, venturing into foreign cities, exploring run-down basements, uncovering lost and fractured music recordings from bygone societies, and transforming them into holographic sound files. These files are directly transferred and stored in your AR turntable implants. Located in the suburbs of Djax, operating without a license, our store is a well-kept secret, challenging to locate, much like the diverse music we offer. From subversive past to contemporary electronic music styles, including Detroit Techno, DnB, House, IDM, Electro, or Gabber, you'll find it all here.
"Primarily, these records played at illegal raves are utilized to illicitly charge batteries, generators, and provide electricity, circumventing SFT's stringent payment models." ---
Which record covers did you recognize?

Record Day 2024 Re-Released
Spawn The Album
Tumblr media
Format: 2 x LP
Label: Legacy
Quantity: 2700
Release type: RSD Exclusive Release
Throughout the '90s, the crossover and blending of styles and artists was ever-present, specifically in the genres of hip-hop and rock. Taking that a step further, mixing techno with nu-metal, breakbeat with rap, and DnB with hard rock, was 1997's soundtrack to the film Spawn. To match the dystopian wasteland aesthetics of the film, this double LP is pressed on smoky red vinyl, and features the likes of Metallica, The Prodigy, Tom Morello, Cypress Hill, Moby and Slayer, just to name a few.
Take the plunge deep into hell with Spawn and his foes for this sonic beatdown of a soundtrack on Record Store Day 2024!

The Monthly Post - September 2023 - Look at the time fly
Tumblr media
What did I do this week, of this month, of this year? I attended a talk on Neural Networks and democratizing the system so to speak. It was attended by individuals from the school I'm now attending as well as researchers from Oxford. The voices in the room wary of AI were few, maybe 3 out of 22. I was mostly there out of interest in meeting the lab's manager, and to ask about applications in gaming. In summation: little was answered here, but it was a stepping stone for me.
SO go ahead, get a view of the time flying by.
Tumblr media
The burden of progress falls on us. As long as smart people are willing to do dumb things for money there will be new problems to deal with. The problem I see most often is that there is little for us to do but get upset about it and then forget. I often only remember things in context, I may have trouble writing a program without a keyboard in front of me, and paper and pencil are right out. Speaking of things I don't forget, however:
I put this on my website, but things on the frontpage there are temporary, stored only in the git blob. Let's discuss trauma. Most games are about physical trauma, one I played recently, Taylor McCue's "He Fucked the Girl Out of Me" is a dirty example. The game mixes the reality of a transperson as a sexworker with people's disgusting needs. According to a recent article:
So many people are put in unsafe situations, I find myself very lucky that I've gotten free of most of the worst of the world, but second to third hand experience still weighs on the mind and soul. I've had trouble coming to accept myself and my needs.
...
Music of the Month:
youtube
Breakcore is a weird genre on Youtube. Defined as drums and bass (DnB), many videos on breakcore have comments stating that other breakcore creators are making for the wrong genre. I personally have trouble understanding why most things defined by humans are the way that they are, beyond the fact it just is. For example math makes sense when you have fingers to learn base 10 off of, but still perfectly acceptable are just thoughts like: "I have none." "I see one." "I should be wary, there are many." Not to diss human thought, as it has gotten us this far, but the aliens/floating objects in our skies likely will have no basis to talk with, but that's a whole mess right now.
So far my favorite track of the list is Pretty CVnt. For sampling the OP or ED to Watamote, the stunning deep vocalizations, and general feel.
Game of the Month:
Tumblr media
There are indie crews like Spiderweb Software that have been running for 20 years or more, but the Adams brothers' Slaves to Armok 2 is a delight. If only I knew how to create value better, my shrine needs 6k dwarf points to count as a temple. On most other accounts my Kobold Kamp is running smoothly. Food is mostly stable right now and animals keep breeding without needing grazing land. Happiness is mixed, likely from being in the rain. Yet I've found ores of iron and silver on the surface, eat that aquifer! Breaching that sucker will be a gamechanger, I brought a screw pump corkscrew for the job, but its a little daunting.
Worst News of the Month in The Gamedev World:
Unity...
Internet Denizen and Maker of the Month:
I remember the days of twitter. At times I had to unfollow this creator just to clean my feed, they posted so vicariously. You could follow them too, or not, your pick.
My Work of the Month:
youtube
This had been sitting in my head for awhile after learning about Per-Pixel Transparency. Turned out pretty good in my opinion.
Wrapup:
I've been taking school rather well, hope that continues. Oh by the way...
youtube
Here's something to leave it off on, enjoy! If you can...

Flattered to say that both @roaringup and @chaumas-deactivated20230115 tagged me in this meme!
Last song I listened to: People in the City by Air has been stuck in my head all day, where I keep mistakenly rendering the lyrics as "B-I-G-G-I-R-L in the city". Lately I've been into ADULT. (Detroit electro) (have tickets to see them and MLWTTKK in October!), Client (London electro/synthpop), and De-Phazz (German trip-hop/jazz/DnB)
Last book I read: I've been stalled on The Secret Life of Groceries since May -- when I get stressed I have trouble prioritizing reading! Looking forward to getting back into it, though. It's about the dark underbelly of grocery store stocking and logistics. The last book I finished was Imagining Philadelphia: Travelers' Views of the City from 1800 to the Present by Philip Stevick, which collects letters and writings through the mentioned period. It's a bit dry and was part of my ongoing research about Philly to try to lend the setting of Latent Defects some credibility.
Last thing I watched: An episode of Dirty Jobs about cricket farming. It's the first episode I've seen where the host, Mike Rowe, has seemed truly irritated and unhappy with the job he signed up to do. He loves to complain (and I love to watch it), but he's never been so rude and grumpy on camera before.
KC and I have, of course, been watching Taskmaster. We're already nearly caught up. It's just very watchable.
Current obsession: Setting aside things like "a miniscule failure is evidence that I'm a horrible person and my life is on the brink of falling apart", uh: Wingspan, cooking with seasonal produce, and reading about fragrances online but rarely buying them.
For several months I tried making at least one new gluten-free baked good per week, which was lovely, but I had to stop because it got too hot. I am starting to accumulate recipes for the fall, though. (If you have them, send them to me. I have no other dietary restrictions and will try anything once)
Tag 8 people: Only if you choose, and regardless of how well I already know you: @dykespiegal, @tadpoleconspiracy, @melleonis, @definitionsfading, and @mossydecadence!

Just wanted to add, while I'm writing the AU I started listening to Boards of Canada. (since I see it come across my dash from time to time.)
I really like the vibes! I lean more into the faster paced Breackcore/Jungle/DnB genres of electronic music, but this is super chill! I especially really dig their use of vocal/audio sampling. I guess for the sake of helping make the AU more 'seff like ;)' any other music recc's? (I've got music to share too if you're also into the other genres.)
YAAAAAAAY
here's a (pretty big—oops) list of reccomendations, not just for you, but also for all my followers

Best/Worst Moments of 2022
I’m making this tradition for my blog now, sorry. Or you’re welcome? Dunno how many people actually read these lmao.
Best:
Went to my first real concert this year! I saw Twice with my friend and they played *checks setlist* 33 songs in the span of 2 hours what the fuck.
I FUCKING SAW GIDLE LIVE VIP.
FIRST FAMOUS PERSON I MET WAS SOYEON AND SHE’S ONE OF THE VERY FEW PEOPLE WHO ACTUALLY INSPIRE ME BRO
YUQI SAID WORDS TO MY FACE EVEN IF THEY WERE GENERIC
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Music wise I got really into dnb, idm and (older) breakcore. Biggest fixation was Pendulum. My taste is weird I know lmao but this is some really interesting electronic music here.
Started working jobs. In the summer I worked as a cashier for a grocery store, and then I worked at a dining hall at my college (usually cleaning, I tried to avoid getting the serving position). Making money is nice ngl.
Speaking of college, I transferred from the regional city campus to the main campus. Didn’t get housing, but I live in a small apartment complex right next to campus. Pretty neat experience, prepping me for the real world yada yada.
I finally started to learn animation related things. I took a modeling + lighting/texturing class and they were fun. Next semester I’ll be doing some actual animating. yey!
Got to hang out with my friend outside of school and concerts hell yeah
I know this sounds very mundane but as an introvert with little friends, I appreciate these moments a lot..probably more than the average person.
Corporate Clash had a big update right as I started getting into it again godbless.
DHMIS show came out after forever and it was fkn awesome, well worth the wait. Check it out if you’re into dark, British humor (and don’t mind mild gore).
Worst:
My schedule for this semester sucked so much ass. Was super busy all the time, which was not good for me considering the fact I am a Chronic Procrastinator. Sometimes I barely had time to study.
Didn’t make many finished digital drawings this year...again...oops...
Also didn’t really get into new fandoms, primarily stuck with Idle and Red Velvet. I adore them of course, but at the same time I wanna get into a new show/game since it’d probably be more stimulating and I can get attached to an actual fictional character again
I used to be able to balance my musical interests with my geekier interests, but kpop is designed to suck you in at all times and I guess I became victim to that lma
Almost every other social media site is becoming so corporate and I hate it so much oh my god make it stop. Gonna start saying “bring back blogs and forums” again for real, I can’t stand this centralization of things.
AI art. Do I even have to explain why I don’t like this as a digital artist myself?
Don’t even get me started on the HBO Max bullshit. What they did to Infinity Train especially was so fucked up.
