Life After Death…
The culture of continuity from consumption to conservation
Many of us (Indians) believe in life after death. The movie ‘Eega’, the tale of a fly reincarnated, was a massive hit across the multiple languages it was dubbed in. In our country (India), belief in reincarnation isn’t just about life and death — it extends to every corner of existence, even the everyday objects we use. In our culture, nothing is truly “done.” A toothbrush, for instance, doesn’t retire after a few months of cleaning teeth. When the bristles are too worn to fight plaque, we summon the toothbrush for new duties. Its role shifts from cleaning our teeth to polishing jewellery or scrubbing the basin. We see potential in its second life. We extend less than a ₹100 toothbrush’s life, in different ways until there’s no life left in those bristles.
This ingenuity goes beyond toothbrushes. In India, everything gets a second chance, a second career, a second identity. A worn-out saree transforms into a warm quilt or becomes a dusting mop. Empty ketchup bottles morph into plant holders or water containers. Old newspapers wrap gifts or clean glass windows. We don’t just use products; we extract every ounce of value, putting them through an endless loop of reinvention.
This philosophy of reuse and reinvention permeates our culture. As value-conscious consumers, we stretch the life of everything we own. Toothpaste tubes are squeezed until the last drop is coaxed out, sometimes even cut open to ensure nothing goes to waste. This is not just a habit of the poor; it’s a trait commonly found among the rich. We spent ₹5 million on our daughter’s wedding but still dispute the plate count of guests. We buy luxury sedans but install CNG kits to save on fuel.
We often ask a friend who bought a luxury car, “What’s the mileage?” This focus on value, on making things last, is embedded in our DNA. We don’t believe in letting things go fast. We carry home-cooked food on train journeys because we wonder, “Why waste money on outside food when you can bring your own?” We push the boundaries of utility because, for us, nothing deserves to retire. Every object deserves to live — and live again — in endless avatars. Everything we own carries a promise: to live, be reborn, and live again.
This value-conscious consumerism has inspired many marketing ideas. The affordable sachets, small SKUs, and the “extra 10%” flash-on packaging are the results of this approach. A small car that looks big — Maruti has marketed this concept based on these insights.
India is a country of colours, cultures, contrasts, and contradictions, with countless complex consumer insights and behaviours that puzzle marketing communications professionals every day. Lessons from everyday life are highly helpful and beneficial in curating powerful brand strategies and shaping impactful advertising communications that work.
Looking deeply into human insights and culture can shape smarter marketing ideas that may have many lives.

Nucleic Acid Sample Preparation Market Future Trends to Look Out | Bis Research
Nucleic acid sample preparation involves the process of DNA or RNA isolation or extraction, done by manual and automated techniques. Sample preparation of nucleic acids is the initial step in most molecular biology studies and all recombinant techniques.
The global Nucleic Acid Sample Preparation Market is projected to reach $5,615.9 million by 2033 from $2,922.8 million in 2023, growing at a CAGR of 6.75% during the forecast period 2023-2033.
Nucleic Acid Sample Preparation Overview
Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) is a nucleic acid containing the genetic instructions used in the development and functioning of all known living organisms. The chemical DNA was discovered in 1869, but its role in genetic inheritance was not demonstrated until 1943. The DNA segments that carry this genetic information are called genes. Other DNA sequences have structural purposes, or are involved in regulating the use of this genetic information.
