Soca artiste, Toiya Isaac, better known by her stage name Rudy, is the 2013-2014 reigning Virgin Islands Groovy Monarch. Rudy, the Virgin Islands’ First Lady of Soca, is truly one of today’s hottest entertainers. Her versatile ability of interweaving Soca, R&B, and Reggae music is one of a kind and can be heard all over the Caribbean, Eastern-US, and Canada. Upon her arrival to Atlanta, Rudy entered many musical competitions making her unique sound a staple within the Caribbean music sector. In 2000, Rudy was crowned with the prestigious title of Female DJ of the Year; which opened many doors for the thriving artist. Many event directors, promoters, DJ’s and producers were astonished by her panache, lyrical content, stage performance, as well as her ability to captivate crowds effortlessly.During her younger years, Rudy was influenced by her father DJ Calabash, a musical genius in his own right. He would encourage her to perform on stage entertaining crowds by free-styling on various dancehall ‘riddims’ which birthed a new passion within Rudy that she could not ignore. By the age of 16, Rudy began her musical journey and set her sight on Atlanta’s thriving music scene in hopes of securing a recording contract. In 2008, Rudy returned to her native island of St. Thomas U.S.V.I. and immediately began working on new music. By the summer, Rudy released the Caribbean female anthem of the year “Come Betta” under Danja Production Management Company. “Come Betta” was in heavy rotation on over 100 radio stations world-wide and positioned Rudy as a force to be reckoned with in the Caribbean music industry. @RudyLive #RudyLive #islandpeeps #StThomas #VirginIslands #Soca (at Saint Thomas, US Virgin Islands)
