Title: Technika ROCKS
Being a DJ is AWESOME!!!!!! 😁🎧🔊🎚️
Actually, DJ CHESTER is my real name in DJ MAX Technika! (Until, I changed my name to "DJ MuruKir" in the following two Technika games series) It's quite a hard, but sometimes it's easy to me!
Yeah, being DJ is awesome & I dig their OSTs (from Technika 1 to 3), but I was TRIED to become Pro DJ & eventually failed from the gecko. lol 😅 Thankfully, I'm retired from playing Technika & all my hands are now on Wangan Maxi Tune game! Man, good thing this arcade racing game never dies! 😁🏁🚘🛣️

November 16th, 2024 - vivid/stasis, ONGEKI, maimai, DJMAX Technika, CHUNITHM, EZ2AC, DDR A3
this past week has seriously been the most stressful and depressing of my life. i've felt horrible day and night, unable to get up and unable to function as i once did, and it's been really damn hard to hide my emotions from people, i really don't know what to do... but it's the weekend now, it's supposed to be time to relax, and so i have to keep my cool and distract myself in spite of the obstacles via my little games that i've always played, past and present .
i'm getting into the endgame of tamasatchi now, and so i have to really grind out tickets due to how long the shop cooldown lasts -- where the only alternative method is to clear boundary shatter songs with gauges. the shortest of them is grode (DJ HOE SCARER REMIX) (or grodescarer for short), so i grinded it out as much as possible and ended up getting a MAX-10 AC on it!! solid potential 13+ or so should it have been a regular chart, though it's kinda hard to judge given the length w
Tumblr media
but alas! these two scores were not but a highlight of my warmup for the day, as i was instead preparing most for the real deal that day... GAMECENTER!!! their first meeting in weeks, i was super hype this time around to go as early as i could and make the most of the game selection there... but i ended up going a little late as i was still recovering emotionally by the time i woke up fairly late. it really is a struggle that i hope would've passed by now but . gah . i don't know what to do anymore, just look at these scores and hope i'm not as doomy and gloomy next time. sorry 'bout that.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
maimai actually was pretty good despite my condition . despite having gone 3 weeks without playing it, i could feel my improvement in accuracy and reading from last session carry over to this one beautifully . i played a ton of fun and hard charts across experts and masters, and with honestly great scores at that! i think i'm ready to pick right up from where i'm leaving off once maimai DX officially releases in the US, though i imagine that's not for another long while... in the meantime, i'll keep practicing and improving as much as i possibly can! highlights from this session specifically include a clear on raputa [Expert 13+], S-rank on Vampire [Master 11+], an AA on Baka Mitai [Master 13] (somehow), and an SSS FC on Rush-More [Expert 10+]!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
while maimai was insanely cool and fun to play, i had my eyes on something more unique... something rarer and impossible to find out in the while nowadays. that's right baybeee, DJMAX TECHNIKA 3 IN THE FLESH!!!! MY FIRST TIME EVER LAYING EYES UPON A CAB, LET ALONE PLAYING ON ONE!!!! it's surreal... such an important and incredible game for its time, i'm so glad to be graced by its presence, and even gladder to have played through two sets on it! i'd like to say though... this game is HARD . i seriously don't know how to keep up with the rhythms and the timing windows, a touch-screen keysounded rhythm game is definitely a frightful combination of words in text, and even More frightening to actually play.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
short chuni set!!! a few upscores here and there... naw but seriously, these are INSANE, like SS+ on Fracture Ray and an SS on ouroboros [Master 14+]??? wahoo, +0.02 !!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the maimai scores are spread out super far apart since most of it was just waiting in the card queue for my turn every hour or so, so i'll just bunch them up here to make the rest of the scores easier to describe... during the sets, i managed to get a super cool AA on Scarlet Police [Master 13], an S rank on Got more raves? [Expert 12+], an insane near-SSS upscore (though just barely missing an FC) on The Intense Voice of Hatsune Miku [Expert 12], a sightread FC on Haikei Doppelganger [Expert 12+], and raising my raputa [Expert 13+] up to AAA just before leaving...!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
phew, okay, that's all the maimai out of the way... now it's time to showcase some of the other super cool games on display here, starting with.... EZ2AC: NIGHT TRAVELER!!! haven't played this version before, but it's definitely my favorite one of the series that i've seen... such a great aesthetic, and an incredible song selection to go along with it as well!!! definitely the peak of the latter half of the series' life... and just as hard as i remembered it, too! a bit too hard, mayhaps... but i already have EZ2ON for playing 5K only, i have to make the most of the 5K standard offered exclusively by the cab!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
a very brief and spontaneous score in terms of DDR though... would've loved to get more, but i'm really not used to the pads of the X-era cab specifically... still a 980k on Glitter Flatter Scatter ain't bad at all! could def AAA this on a white cab given the chance...
Tumblr media
and now, to conclude the scoredump... here's the last of the chuni scores i secured near the end of the session (minus one that's not really important because of the 30-image limit)!!! a near-SS on HERA [Master 14+], an SS on Oshama Scramble! (Cranky Remix) [WORLD'S END ?] of all things, a massive upscore to SS+ on DX Chouseinou Fullmetal Shoujo [Master 14] (and +0.01 PTT)... and to conclude, several unsuccessful SS+ attempts on Disruptor Array [Master 15]!!! i can feel it... it's so close, yet so far... may not be able to get it anytime soon, but i'd love to try again some other time!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
BONUS: just as promised (and also just as requested by no one, really), here's a mostly-cut video of my absolutely incredible, absolutely beautiful 997k on Disruptor Array [Master 15]!!! ...you may now clap, thank you very much . after all, i sabotaged showing the EZ2AC video here just to show off my more beautiful (and blurrier + crustier) CHUNITHM AWESOME PLAY!!!

New Konami dance arcade game "ShuffleDancerz" (formerly STEPSTAR) - Location Test Report
On July 7, Konami surprised the world with an unannounced location test of a new arcade dance game, “STEPSTAR” (details here). After a few weeks, it’s back, with a new name – “ShuffleDancerz”
Mostly unchanged from the previous location test, the game is somewhat like an easier version of DanceEvolution, much more geared toward a casual crowd and not hardcore BEMANI fans.
Tumblr media
Gameplay:
In ShuffleDancerz, the are 4 types of “notes” or step markers. Step, Long (keep holding the note), Jump, and Crouch/Squat/Down (lower your center of gravity). The gameplay works similar to most music games in which there are notes falling onscreen towards a judgement line. When the notes overlap the line, you step! Simple, right? But wait, there are also some slide notes. All of these together can be a little bit difficult to pull off perfectly, especially with the game’s input.
Tumblr media
It’s currently using a set of IR sensors (a la DJ MAX TECHNIKA) around the main stage’s floor panel to determine your foot placement on both an X-and-Y coordinate system. Unfortunately this means that playing with loose shoes or sandals is nearly impossible, and you need to be careful about where you step. Timing is a bit difficult due to this.
When playing with 2 players, 1P stands in front, and reacts to orange notes, while 2P is behind them, with blue notes. While very fun, it seems like the hardware can’t reliably support the input, but this should be fixed. Nearby, a monitor played a really cool promotional video for the game, and showed two professionals enjoying 2-person play. There are various notes that must be hit simultaneously, and the step choreography seems pretty fun.
Videos & Recording:
Similar to maimai and the unreleased Otoiroha, the game gives you an option to record your gameplay, and  apply various artistic filters to it. There’s also an option to cover the upper half of the video frame (useful for hiding your face), and you have the option to upload it to YouTube later, via the game’s website and a 4-digit PIN you set per upload (after gameplay). Only 5 songs are uploadable as of the latest test. The game has two modes – Basic and Full. In Basic mode, you can play two songs, and record 30-second clips of the gameplay, to upload. In Full mode, you can record the entire length of ONE song.
Tumblr media
After entering your PIN, and logging in with your Google/YouTube account, you’re given the option to set the video to Public, Unlisted, or Private. You can also set the video’s title and description here, although it’s pre-filled by default. The uploads are small, and doesn’t take much time at all, but the video quality is pretty good, and audio is excellent.
Tumblr media
  Song List:
LADY / ちゃんみな (4/6) MEGA SHAKE IT ! / キュウソネコカミ (3/9) Revolution / BRADIO (4/7)* SKY’s the limit / ぼくのりりっくのぼうよみ (3/6) Summer Venus / KEYTALK (2/6) Without You / 夜の本気ダンス (2/5) 女々しくて / ゴールデンボンバー (1/4)* ハッピーシンセサイザ / EasyPop (5/6)* オンリーワンダー / フレデリック (6/8)* 君と野獣 / バンドハラスメント (3/5) * サイレントマジョリティー / 欅坂46 (1/4) 制服のマネキン / 乃木坂46 (1/4)
*YouTube uploading OK
Cabinet Details:
Slim and flat, very similar to Pump It Up CX cabinets, but completely vertical.
Recording Camera (Kinect?) and additional sensors(?) above and below the large screen (40″?) (the sensors seem to be used for the [Squat] notes.
Similar Up/Down/Left/Right/Start button layout to DDR (white cabinet)
Two eAMUSEMENT Pass readers on each side, and two 10-key numpads.
Space between cabinet and dance floor for luggage, etc.
Dance floor is slightly recessed to accommodate the IR sensors and LEDs around the edge, size is a little bit larger than one DDR pad.
Game Details:
Theme: Dark and cool. Similar to the promotional posters, techno/EDM-like. Lots of “cool” visual flair.
Announcer: Female, present in menus, but not during gameplay. There ARE some sound effects during gameplay, when you hit a note.
Difficulty: 1-9, no names. The easier charts are colored Light Blue, and harder ones are yellow.
Options: Speed Modifiers are present and range from 0.5x to 9.5x, in (.5) increments. The default is 1.0x. You choose this before starting the song, but can also adjust it during the song by pressing Up or Down on the Directional Buttons.
Gameplay Screen: Similar to Chunithm and SDVX, notes fall from the back and center of the screen toward the judgement line at the bottom/front. Most songs featured their official music videos in the background, although they were very darkly-filtered.
Notes: Color-coded by player, and L/R icons to indicate recommended feet. Of course, you can use either foot you want.
PERFECT / GREAT / GOOD / BAD judgement (timing is pretty loose, but not Pump loose. It’s a good mix of strict and casual)
Grading: 1-5 stars (☆☆☆☆☆ = 950,000+ Score, MAX 1m)
Location Test Details:
Location: ROUND 1 – Yokohama Station West Exit Shop
200yen / 1 play (400yen 2 players), PASELI OK
Photos: NOT ALLOWED.
Impressions and Summary:
While it’s music-based, it’s not a “hardcore BEMANI” title. In fact, the BEMANI logo isn’t on any fliers, and apparently not on the cabinet itself either. The game’s excellent English catch copy is:
Dance to the music with cool steps! The stage reads your steps, the sensors catch your groove. Dance smoothly, and make your original video!
The game is definitely geared to a more casual crowd (like, groups of students) with its simplistic gameplay, colorful camera effects, and smartphone-friendly vertical YouTube uploads. The location testing in Osaka and Yokohama placed the cabinet in a very visible location where many young people pass by and gather every day. The game is more about having fun and enjoying some freestyle moves (or anything, really), then uploading and sharing it with your friends. We’re hoping it does well. I, for one, would definitely play it again, especially with two players.

[LIVE] KARA - Lupin dust ver. LUPIN Lupin (Hangul: 루팡) is the third mini-album by South Korean girl group Kara. The concept and artwork of the album is based on French writer Maurice Leblanc's fictional gentleman thief, Arsène Lupin. History In early February, DSP Media announced that Kara would be coming back with "Lupin" and showing a darker, more mature concept. The song was released to digital outlets on February 17, 2010 and topped various charts the following day. Han Seung-yeon noted that, although the group had a cute image with singles like "Pretty Girl" and "Mister", "Lupin" would allow the girls to portray a "chic" concept. Media reports noted that the group would be going up against Girls' Generation, who had made their comeback a few weeks earlier with "Oh!". Promotion Kara made their comeback in late February, starting with Mnet's M! Countdown on February 25, 2010. The group then performed on all major network music shows over the weekend. On March 4, 2010, Kara won their first #1 award for "Lupin" on M! Countdown. The following week, Kara won yet another #1 award on M! Countdown, making it their second consecutive win on the program. "Lupin" also gave Kara their first #1 win on Music Bank on March 12, 2010, making it the group's first win on the music show since their debut, and held onto the position for three consecutive weeks. The song also won the Mutizen award from Inkigayo. "Lupin" is among a handful of Kara tracks featured in the arcade music game, DJ Max Technika 3. Music video The music video was released on February 22, garnering more than 90,000 views in the first two hours. After the popularity of the group's "butt dance" with "Mister", netizens were curious to see the choreography of "Lupin"; as such, parts of the dance, including the "Emergency Exit" dance and the "Halla" dance, were highlighted by viewers. Other moves of interest were Goo Hara's hair flip. A Typical Introduction
I'm writing this blog, to kick start my general interest about games again. One of the biggest issues about hosting a variety of events, you tend to lose yourself of the work and commitment each project brings. Eventually games you want to play are few and far between in time and you end up playing games you generally have no interest in. This happened to me, and from the work from Revolution to everything else has left me feeling a lot of resentment towards gaming in general. At that point I thought to myself, maybe I should have a bit of a restart. This blog is the first step of that, the second is the revival of my personal Youtube account. To be honest I feel it working already.
You are probably reading this thinking 'Who the fuck are you?' and that is a legitimate question. My name is Rayokarna; I'm the person who is behind a majority of NGI's events and work. Usually the man behind the screens or behind the pile of equipment spending more time than what they should do getting people ready. I used to play Arcana Heart 3 but I've retired from that game feeling that I don't have the same commitment to be competitive anymore. I wanted to play Gundam Versus seriously but I haven't been able to keep up due to commitments at the time of release.
I also play music games which is a very fun pastime of mine. I'm a long term player of DJ Max Technika and a fan of various dance games like Pump it Up and Dance Dance Revolution.
Most people tend to label me as an Anime Fighting Game player when I only really play one semi-seriously. Really I play games ranging from Tom Clancey's The Division, Freedom Wars, God Eater, DJ Max and Gran Turismo. I have a wide variety of games and I'm willing to play almost anything (Other than Agerest).
On this blog I'll be talking about the games I play, complaining about them, analysing videos, and showing there isn't much I give too much of a shit about on them. The games will vary; most of them will be on mu YouTube channel so I guess you could check them out.

About 5 years ago I started playing a DJ Max Technika 3 at Quantum Power Station in Power Plant Mall. I visited the mall every Saturday and I play whenever I can. At that time, I was alone playing Technika but a few weeks later Arch started playing Technika there and a few more others joined. Soon we called ourselves "Connections: Rockwell" an extension of "Connections" (a group of Technika Players) which originated from Cebu. As time passed by, Connections: Rockwell increased in members and we've made even more and more connections. Despite Neowiz ending their DJ Max Technika 3 Support on Dec 31, 2013, we still continue to play other arcade games available in the Arcade (mostly music-based). We've succesfully become a medium-sized group of arcade gamers who have Quantum Power Station in Power Plant Mall as our home base. Arch's continuous travels to Singapore and Malaysia have resulted to new connections there and so we also have a group in both Malaysia and Singapore. Although even if we haven't met them yet, it's nice to have people to reach out to in other countries. Recently, Arch found a job opportunity in Malaysia so that means he'll have to leave us (Connections: Rockwell) for a few months, or maybe a year to work there. He'll be visiting us from time to time but for the most part, he won't be here with us physically. We'll miss you Arch. All of us wouldn't be "connected" without you, we wish you all the best while you're working in Malaysia. As one of the first few members of Connections: Rockwell. It is an truly honor playing in the arcade with you 😄 070817 (at Coco Ichibanya Curry House)
