I def have more questions but I’m worried about flooding your inbox a little sorry. Like how did DH lose their humanity? (I know that HC lost it due to the UW fusing him with half of I-no but I’m curious what the UW could have done to DH)

Im also curious about Lethargy too. Does HC/DH consider them their kid? Or what do they think of lethargy and vice versa?

I only call them toxic YaoiYuri depending on the current roles they're playing, these two are so versatile in vibe cuz one drawing they could be having the most toxic moment ever and the next drawing theyre like sleeping on a couch after watching movies together and both situations fit them a lot atleast to me

DH lost their humanity bc of the information flow from the Backyard being far too concentrated, while HC got the luxury of basically becoming fused with a god's powers, DH did not and their own abilities stem from the fact theyre basically a walking Tome of Origin that haw a super genius mind that can constantly revise and create new spells all the time. In this way Both DH and HC are equal in power. Also why would The Universal Will throw and trap DH into concentrated Backyard info area is cuz it was a desperate decision and they assumed DH would die but... like... thats, thats the one who weaves the spells. Universal Will had a dumb moment but hey it threw the Original off. To esplain Further DH had managed to make a way that they can survive by taking in the information influx from the Backyard but it came at the cost of their humanity, they managed to keep their memories and biases tho.

And YEAH DH ans HC lovingly(and annoyingly to Lethargy) consider them their child.

HC to Lethary - is like that annoying kind of parent who likes to poke their nose into ur bussiness but they genuine love and care abt you, Hes probs taken to the role as the Overprotective Parent just to stir drama every once in a while, i like to think during the earlier parts of Lethargy's story when theyre their panicky and terrified of their own strength self Happy Chaos just teleports sweets to them, Regional sweets, they both got sweet tooths. Havent got a full concrete thing on how he thinks of Lethargy cuz he has too many thoughts in his head but the basis of it all is fondness and horror, the closest he could feel to it cuz Lethargy is stronger than both HC n DH combined but Lethargy prefers being human than to become anything else. But the fondness overpowers the horror tbh he cares for the kid

Lethargy to HC - Basically think of someone in their rebellious phase, Lethargy loathes the fact they and HC have similarities, Easy to rile up n all. They tend to start bickering with HC on random topics HC started rambling abt. They think hes annoying n all, but when they do get along oh boy, Oh Boy. Prepare ur popcorn besties this boutta be the best show of ur life.

DH to Lethargy - Bias exists here, though they cant feel emotion they do try to show Lethargy that they care for em. They take on the role of 'Damage control' parent, this family has 1 braincell and DH has it half the time, the other half is when HC and Lethargy cause joint chaos together. Theyre the type of parent to be chill and such but WILL put their foot down if needed. They're the one who mainly teaches Lethargy how to use their own abilities since Lethargy can grasp Circle theory. Same case with HC there is both fondness n horror in their own unique way but as always the fondness overpowers the horror. Theyre the favorite parent and they know it.

Lethargy to DH - Favorite parent. No he will not let HC fight DH for the spot of favorite parent. DH is the favorite parent and Lethargy will forever shove that fact into HC's face. Lethargy is thankful to DH for being so goddamn patient with them bc Lethargy can be so clumsy and dumb. Lethargy wonders where DH got all this patience from (DH got it from knowing and dealing with HC for years lmaoo)

Regardless thought the two like to be embarrassing parents, always like, bragging abt Lethargy's accomplishments and they of course inherited DH and HC's immeasurable IQ's they just have a morality to hold back themselves.

I dont know that much about the Conclave members individually yet so i cant say for them, Asuka on the other hand... he's semi used to it, he was clueless they used to date eachother tho lmaoo.

Like, as their student he had no idea The Original and The Architect were dating, he had suspicions but he didnt wanna ask them. To picture how ridiculously oblivious Asuka was during this time, The Original and The Architect could be smooching out in the open and he'd be like "Something fruity going on here... But probs isnt" /J/J those two were a bit more subtle but yeah Asuka truly is bad with relationships, even seeing em.

Adding sum tidbits here on The Architect/DH and Asuka's own dynamic. DH and Asuka were much closer actually, DH even when human was stoic and rarely showed visible emotion even verbally. Only diff betwene them is that DH isnt clueless on emotions, they acknowledge the importance of feelings even as who they are now. Its why betwen DH and HC, DH causes less casualties and suffering due to this. tbh DH would be scolding Asuka for not taking how he himself felt into account even in a scientific way. Emotions are a variable regardless, why ignore such a vital thing?

and i like to think that as a parallel to HC's "Asuka Asuka Asuka Asuka... You're a natural born lunatic" and the response of "Quiet down, Teacher."

DH's line is "Asuka Asuka Asuka Asuka. You're an unnaturally oblivious person." In a more scolding manner, response is "Louder please, Tutor?" in a sheepish tone

Dan Feng as a High Elder doesn’t always have the time to really see you. Sure when he first adopted you he did spend a good chunk of his time with you but eventually his duties caught up.

He appointed someone to look after you. Someone that you knew and that he knew. Someone trustworthy.

So when he came back to his home early one day, the house dead silent. He grew worried. He called out to the person, to you. But there was no response.

He walked to your room, perhaps the both of you fell asleep. Wouldn’t be the first time.

But all he could witness was dust covering your room. And the man no where to be seen.

He knew instantly where that dust came from, he was quick to search for him. Found him hiding thinking he could get away, unaware that Dan Feng would be home early, unaware Dan Feng would catch him.

The man he had trusted to protect you, was the same man who ended the life you should’ve continued to have.

Dan Feng was quick to throw the man in the Shackling Prison, praying to whatever Aeon that can hear him that he gets what he deserves.

He collected as much of the dust that was still in his house, the last thing that he had of you. And carefully placed them in a jar.

Many question the High Elder why he holds a jar of dust so dearly to him, and all those times he refuses to answer. Not wanting to break down in front of the other Vidyadharas.

It was only a mission, a mission he sent you and Yanqing on. He had thought there were only a few Mara struck soldiers that had to be defeated.

He had wondered why Yanqing slowly entered the Seat of Divine Foresight without you. He had wondered why Yanqing was breathing rapidly and on the verge of tears.

Jing Yuan comforted Yanqing before asking about your whereabouts. Perhaps you were getting snacks after a successful mission? Yanqing could only try to explain in a shaky voice, clearly startled and upset.

But why would he be upset? You were his adopted sibling and was usually so kind to him. You wouldn’t have done anything to hurt him?

Yanqing tried his best to explain, stuttering over his words and needing to take a few deep breaths, the General listened carefully.

…Ambush? Well…Jing Yuan supposed he made an error in that. He only thought there were a few. Wow, if you and Yanqing didn’t know about that then you could’ve been caught off guard and…

Jing Yuan quickly connected the dots, he slowly held Yanqing closer, witnessing his own sibling fall to the hands of the Mara struck then be faced with dealing with the remaining enemies…he couldn’t imagine the stress.

A ceremony was held in your honour. Your dust already gone away like the wind so your memories will follow as he sends multiple starsciff at with gifts.

But he’ll always remember, he’ll remember the regret he felt that he couldn’t do anything nor could he have seen that an ambush would occur.

He wished he could’ve done something.

Blade could’ve taken that hit. Why’d you have to take it!?

He would’ve been fine. He wouldn’t been okay, a relief would’ve washed over him even though he knew he’d survive.

So then why did you have to take the hit that was meant for him, and leave him in a state of rage?

He quickly disposed of the pests that caused your demise, before trying to check on you. But all he could do was watch as your body dusts away.

He tried his best to grab any dust he could but most went with the wind. All he could do was stand there questioning why you would do that.

He said he’d protect you. Everyone else in the Stellaron Hunters were busy so he had to take you with him when he did his part. Yet it ended with you gone.

There was a small ceremony for your disappearance from the earth. Elio as much as he may not want too, he continued sending people on missions however allowed Blade to opt out of them he could properly mourn.

Blade still wonders why you decided to save him when he would’ve been fine, he wonders if he’d be able to save you if he noticed the enemy creepy behind him.

It was just a small argument. Welt felt bad but allowed you to storm off. You’d return eventually anyways. You’d return once dinner was ready back at the express, you knew what time that was.

But you never did return did you? Welt had thought long and hard and was ready to apologise for his words yet you weren’t back yet? Did you get dinner then go to your room?

He went to check, your room was the exact same you left it.

Did…anyone see you come back? He questioned the members of the express. None have seen you.

Finally he grabbed his coat and cane and went to look for you. Went in the direction you went and searched. As he walked his foot stepped in something. Looking down confused, his eyes widened.

Golden Dust. Dust that he knew belonged to you. Dust that told him you were gone.

And he wasn’t able to tell you he was sorry.

Welt is silent as he walks back, he let the wind take your dust elsewhere. A place he hopes you’d be happy in.

He was quiet but able to tell the express what happened. Each of them holding a small funeral for you. They kept your room intact, filled with things you loved before locking it. That room will no longer be filled with warmth but will soon grow cold.

Welt drew a picture of you, keeping it safe with him. And despite how it may seem that eventually he was over your death. He could never be.

Not until he was able to apologise for the argument.

But that won’t happen anytime soon now will it?

Hi! I want to know your head canons on SLANG! What sort of things to wizards say to sound cool or evoke thoughts or feelings? What sayings might they have? Do we maybe have any in common with them?

We know that “to have a hairy heart” means to be aloof or cold. (Fm Tales of Beedle the Bard)

I once read a very compelling headcanon that Americans would never use no-maj (for non-magical) as a term cuz they like to shorten things so much, and so American wizfolk would use either ‘noma’ or ‘nomie’. As an American I agree tbh.

I hc that the Hogwarts motto “Draco dormiens nunquam titillandus” [never tickle a sleeping dragon] to be a kind of slang for “don’t do that”.

Like, your friend is getting ready to sneak out of her dorm to go see a guy even though she knows Peeves has been feisty lately. “….Draco dormiens, Molly,” you whisper as she sneaks out the door.

Yeah! Any thoughts?

I love this, and I definitely think there are wizard versions for some common phrases we have (and we actually see some in the books). In my fic I try to add magical variations of phrases to make the world feel more real.

I'd say which shortened version of no-maj would be said would depend on where in the US the wizard is from. I imagine some areas would say "noma" some would say "nomie" and I'm sure there would be other variants. I think it'll just really depend on location.

But most of the idioms and slang I have headcanons for are for the UK.

Some examples I've written into my fic:

Hit him like a bludger - would mean having a strong emotional reaction, like "hit like a ton of bricks"

You look like a dementor’s got you - generally to mean one looks upset or down.

Eating away at his brian like the Fwooper’s song - to mean something is occupying your thoughts, but like, to obsessive levels.

I also like the idea of:

"Confunded" - being used as the word "befuddled"

"Demiguise" - used to the same as calling someone a wallflower, since they become invisible.

"Keep the egg under the toad" - references the process of breeding a basilisk, which is illegal. Means to keep something quite or on the downlow.

"Are you yanking my wand?" - used like saying "are you joking me?" and is an extension of the saying "yanking your wand" that appears in Deathly Hallows.

"Polishing your wand" - is a real thing Cedric and other wizards apparently do, but I am convinced it also refers to jerking off.

"Until the Jobberknoll sings" - kinda like "it isn't over until the fat lady sings", since a Jobberknoll only sings on the moment it dies.

Similarly, saying "Joberknoll song" instead of "Swan song"

"Swearing like a Jarvey" - Like "Swearing like a sailor" since Jarveys are known for being rude and swear a lot.

I have a few more I wrote/thought of, but these are some off the top of my head.

There is also this wiki page that has a list of wizard idioms used in Harry Potter and it's extra semi-canon content (like the video games and pottermore). I don't consider all of this list canon, but there are some I like there, like:

Breed like gnomes (From DH) - meaning breed like rabbits and said by Muriel about the Weasleys

Different kettle of Grindylows (from Hogwarts Legacy) - like saying "different kettle of fish" or "another can of worms"

Dodged a bludger - like "dodged a bullet"

Don't count your owls before they are delivered (from HBP) - like "don't count your chickens before they hatch"

The fire's lit, but the cauldron's empty (from DH) - like "the lights are on, but nobody's home"

I could eat a Hippogriff (from GoF) - like "I could eat a horse"

I'll take Cadogan's pony (from pottermore) - roughly means to make the best of a bad situation

Knockturn Alley's litter epidemic (from GoF) - means something obvious/boring

Yanking your wand (from DH) - means to joke around.

If you could replace one canon fact with a HC what would it be?

So most of my headcanons will absolutely build on canon, so as Ron said 'This needs thinking about.'

I think that Sirius was in love with James, perhaps? I know I joke a lot about it being canon, but it isn't (my heart: excuse me, it is). Seriously (hihi), though, having this be part of the story, like Harry discovering this in DH.

There is a narrative purpose behind my heart's desire: Having Sirius have feelings for James would primarily strengthen the parallels between him and Severus, and also their differences. Sirius listens to Harry in POA when Harry asks him to spare Peter - in the entire book, Sirius' motivation has been to kill the man, but he lets it go, and earns Harry's respect. Severus does not listen when Harry begs him to hear Sirius and Remus out, and continues therefore to have no relationship with Lily's son. Sirius being able to love Harry as James and Lily's son (fuck you movies, Sirius did not mistake Harry for James), Sirius being able to love Lily wholeheartedly (not limited to, but also as a source of James' happiness rather than feeling jealous), I think would be such an interesting contrast to Severus.

Decisions have consequences on those around you

As stated in a previous headcanon post, the trailblazer has some abandonment issues that they are not even aware of having. After the events during their trip to the Xianzhou Luofu, they slowly start to realize it- and it's because it gets drastically worse, adding on sprinkles of becoming hesitant to trust anyone.

First with Tingyun, they don't fully understand. But they do know they feel betrayed and hurt. They genuinely enjoyed spending time with her during their visit, finding her friendly, helpful, and insightful. She was usually the go-to for information or questions regarding just about anything: culture, clothing, food, music, "sports", games, the relationship between long-life and short-life species that shared the same space, etc. They slowly accept the fact that they never met the real Tingyun, just the one that looked like her in name and body that was just a puppet used to get close to the Nameless and accomplish Phantylia's own goals. At least, that is how they view it, or find it easiest to come to terms with the loss of a supposed friend.

Kafka is then brought to the Matrix of Prescience Ultima to stand on trial and questioned. She doesn't fight it, which seems weird, but also makes a small amount of sense being that she had originally stated she was not a threat to them or the Xianzhou Luofu. But something still felt.. off. Once she is questioned, she makes a hasty exit, taking a man with her that they know only in name- the one she used when originally asking the Astral Express for help to save an imprisoned false-accused partner- Blade. Kafka leaves before they can ask her anything other than what the Divination Commission and General of the Luofu had wanted, or more so needed, to know. To be so close to an answer yet have it taken away in an instant is unpleasant.. but they didn't have high hopes for obtaining answers to start, so it's not the worst thing..

Then Dan Shu. They grew to feel sympathy and respect for her, thinking her extremely caring and knowledgeable in her field, and calm when under pressure. They do not even remotely suspect her of anything until it's too late. Caelus, when presented with the treatment medication Dan Shu provides after "coming up with an antidote" for the "immortality medicine", takes it without a second thought. Stelle is more cautious, primarily not comfortable putting something she doesn't fully understand what it is or what it would do, but is eventually persuaded after talking with Dan Shu some more, and takes it as well. Waking up to feeling like you're body is twice it's weight, world spinning around you, ears ringing, and when you finally can process anything.. you discover that you had temporarily turned Mara-Struck and thrashed a handful of unsuspecting Cloud Knights inside the Seat of Divine Foresight.. it's a rude awakening. The only saving grace being that the Stellaron burned out the "miracle cure" before things escalated into something they would very much regret.

Fool them once, shame on them. Fool them twice? Well.. they won't even give you the chance to have their trust. Not right off the bat, at least.

Later they meet up with Kafka at her request, mostly out of wanting answers about themself, about her, about their relationship-- anything. End up playing a game of Truth and Lie. After finding out that they were quite literally an artificial body solely created to house a Stellaron-- they're not sure how to feel. Empty, lost, more confusion, angry. It's a lot to take in. Then, after the trailblazer protects Kafka while she takes care of one of her Stellaron Hunter companions, Blade, Kafka leaves. They don't really want to see her again.. but something in them also wants to reach out and make sure she doesn't leave again. They still have so many questions unanswered.. but they know she won't provide anything else. Kafka wanted a game, and it had reached it's end.

Now, depending on a certain decision made by a specific someone cough Dan Heng cough, their trust issues, along with the abandonment issues, will fester and grow only slightly-- or get much, much worse.

If Dan Heng, during the hands-in-circle March 7th initiates, puts his hand in, showing he still cares for his fellow Express companions, and has every interest in returning with them (while also sort of showing he appreciates them but not as important), then the Trailblazer will be fine. Confused, slightly hurt that Dan Heng had not discussed any of.. all of the worry he had over his past life and Dan Heng's concern that someone was out to get him and did not want to put the Express Crew in danger because of it-- but more so, the Trailblazer thinking that they had gotten closer with the Express Crew, including Dan Heng, but was not confided in or trusted to share in each other's worries. They will, rather quickly, come to terms with it, and not press it either, internally forgiving him--not that he needs such from them anyway. Dan Heng had either (depending on your own interpretations / headcanons for DH writers) no recollection of it, or simply wanted to distance himself from it as far as possible, so never brought it to light. They care more about Dan Heng's feelings since this directly affected him having to come the Xianzhou and deal with all the inhabitants who knew him/Dan Feng and everything tied to his previous incarnation. If he wants to discuss it, or not, is up to him. They will be there when, or if, he wants to share.

If Dan Heng, during the hands-in-circle March 7th initiates, does not put his hand in, they will rather quickly break and shut down. Dan Heng, another they thought they could trust, had lied(in their mind) to them, came to the Xianzhou without saying anything, then showed up with a man the Trailblazer knows is associated with Kafka, attacking a child--- it's too much. They stay silent until they make it back to the express, only providing curt responses if absolutely necessary. They'll let Welt and March do all the talking and questioning. During the fight with Phantylia they are wild and reckless, half the time getting in the way of their companions attacks and defenses. They are no longer in synch with the team. A loose canon ready to crack and burst with no warning. They fight with their whole being, terrified that Dan Heng won't return to the express, will be another person that the trailblazer has to say goodbye to. After all, didn't General Jing Yuan say that he was working on getting Dan Feng's name cleared? Or making it so Dan Heng was able to go about the Xianzhou Luofu as he so wished? Would he want to return to his home, now that he would no longer be considered a criminal? He would leave them behind, like the others, if they didn't prove.. somehow.. that they would welcome him back with open arms. Surely then he would come back, right? They won't talk to him or stand close to him- petrified that if they did one single thing wrong to make him upset or mad at them, he would be gone once the mission was over.

Regardless Dan Heng's decision, once the trailblazer gets back to the express, they cling onto Himeko's presence as often as she will tolerate. If she does end up telling them to leave (obviously not in a rude way, just a 'space please' manner) they will go to a corner, or their own room (assuming they would have one by now like c'mon) and just sit silently by themself. They ask Himeko that whenever she gets the chance that they want to talk with her about some personal matters. During this talk, they crave the physical contact that they need to stay semi-grounded. While seated they get as close to her as possible with their back facing her, resting against her side, while they hesitantly take her hand and move it to come around the front of their torso- effectively keeping them in a cradle. They won't look at her, knowing they wouldn't get the words out, and are too scared to see her reaction to their confession of meeting with the woman who sent them on this disaster of a journey (Kafka) and come clean about their fears of being betrayed by more people, or being left behind by someone else. Himeko does her best to settle their doubts.

Though, Dan Heng's decision does play part in whether Himeko is successful or not. If he did join the hand circle, she is successful. They still feel a tad unsettled, though slightly better than before their discussion. If he had not, then it is a failure and they simply end up feeling numb and full of doubt. Either ending, they thank her for her time and for lending an ear before leaving.
