THE SHIVER IS SLIGHT, BUT palpable still under izuku's fingertips; as the tension in their shoulders coils, tightens, a ripple of goosebumps down their neck like they've been threatened.

this is good. it's practice. they're taking it a step at a time, the trust, working from conscious to subconscious to muscle memory, getting persephone's body used to his hands. the curve of his thumb, the soft texture of his skin. the throat has always been the most off-limits place, the most panic-inducing place. especially for hands.

but with each gentle stroke, each whispered praise in her ear, each brush of the fingers that doesn't end in a tight grip or a knife to the jugular, one tangled thread falls away. even though they sit rigid, every muscle tensed so hard it aches, at least the shakes have subsided a bit more every time izuku whispers how good they are.

this is nice. they like being good. the next time izuku pulls back to look at her, she dips her head forward to kiss him — and in doing so, convey everything her words never could.
