It kinda bothers me when after observing the memory of Mythal telling Solas to form a body, the party basically blames Solas for the war between elves and titans. Lucanis says: "He did it for Mythal. Everything that followed, he could've prevented. If he'd just told her no." And then Rook adds: "Then he's got a war on his conscience." EXCUSE ME?! YOU MEAN THE WAR THAT HAD ALREADY BEEN DECLARED WHEN THE EVANURIS MADE THEIR BODIES?! Solas came much later, it's implied that other elves besides the Evanuris had also being formed. How is that Solas fault? How he could've prevented a war that was already happening?

This game is purposely trying to blame Solas for absolutely everything when Mythal and the rest of the Evanuris are much to blame too. I'm not saying is free of guilt, absolutely not (my princess has committed his fair share of war crimes), but he didn't start this shit. Why Mythal isn't made responsable a bit more too? Like, she manipulated Solas into having a body, she gave orders to him (that's why he was called lapdog after all), she killed Titans and when Solas made the dagger Mythal says: "Have you created what we need?" clearly implying she commanded him to make the dagger, she's no innocent whatsoever and yet the only person that is receiving 100% of the guilt and shame is Solas

People are saying the mourn watch armour is ugly but it’s just functional embalming PPE. I can already see my Rook standing outside the lighthouse, chain smoking camel crushes, chugging a red bull, and adding songs to her fucked up genre-spanning embalming playlist while giving one word answers and non-committal grunts in response to anything said to her.

Adjusted some romance party banter for fun since my Warden Rook is 49, rather than in her 20s as the game often assumes.

Harding: You have been a little distracted, lately. I mean what with you and Rook becoming... Emmrich: You noticed?

Harding: I'm sure you two getting together is... only Rook's kinda younger, so... Rook: Wait--Harding, aren't you a surfacer? Harding: Sure, but what does that have to do with-- Rook: And you grew up around humans. Harding: Yes...? Rook: Exactly how young do you think I am? Emmrich: You know, my dear, most people would simply allow themselves to be flattered.

Okay, I'm a couple of hours into Veilguard, so I thought I'd share all the things I've really loved so far:

The combat is so much more dynamic and fluid! There were things I liked about the previous games' combat, but I do remember Inquisition often feeling like 'select enemy, then mash buttons until they die.' I love that I can duck and weave around monsters! I love being encouraged to swap between weapons (however much I have to suspend my disbelief about Rook putting away two swords and grabbing a bow in a single second)! It's just really fun!

Maybe I'm imagining it, but I feel like the camera is a bit closer to Rook, and it makes so much difference. Sometimes in Inquisition, and often in Andromeda, I felt really far away from my character, and it creates this sense of distance. It's a tiny thing, but I do genuinely think being that bit closer has made my experience a load better.

I cannot describe how affirming it feels to have an NPC point to my character and casually say 'they.'

Holy shit I love the gang's casual looks. Harding's embroidered florals and Neve's colour scheme?? Also, both of them changing their hairstyles in the field? God I wish I could show this to my 16-year-old self as they stewed in frustration over the women in Mass Effect having to go into battle with their long hair down.

The aesthetics of Arlathan! I made such a delighted noise when I realised they ancient elves had power crystals and magitech-looking devices; sci-fi like elements being introduced into fantasy is my jam, and it works so well to make clear how advanced Elvhenan really was. It reminds me of how cool it was in Critical Role when the characters went to the ruins of Aeor and found a bunch of advanced magitech: that same feeling of 'holy shit, this world we've spent so much time in and treated like a normal fantasy world is post-apocalyptic.'

Being able to give my Rook so many freckles.

honestly my veilguard worldstate makes me laugh

almost EVERYONE is paired up - Lucanis and Neve are together, Harding and Taash are together, Rook and Davrin are together, and Emmrich and Strife are together

then there's poor Bellara, who has to babysit Assan and Manfred for date nights (however i recently got the banter where she asks Davrin for a griffon so i don't think she minds)

They are both definitely working on Halloween lol. All Souls Day is a big deal in the Necropolis for obvious reasons. Emmrich (with Manfred's assistance, of course) is probably running an open house style educational event in a safe, approachable section of the catacombs where the tamer, non-intimidating wisps tend to frequent as a way to introduce young people and curious travelers to Nevarran death philosophy, science, and how magic works into all of it. I think he's really passionate about stripping away the negative preconceptions people may have about what they do, and being able to have them interact personally with spirits in a safe environment is a great way to do that.

Amina, being a Reaper, is strolling the passageways and mausoleums of the Necropolis that night, on the lookout for anyone that might cause trouble: unfortunately All Souls Day tends to mark an uptick in grave desecration and unsanctioned rituals by misguided folk who think they know what they're doing, but inevitably don't. Also, the local kids have a history of daring each other to sneak into the Necropolis on this night for reasons that she still doesn't understand. Regardless, she'll keep her eyes and ears open and do whatever she has to do to ensure that the spirits and the dead that she's responsible for are left in peace, and that anyone foolish enough to go wandering around alone on this night leaves in one piece.

When the dawn comes and their work is done, they find each other and head home, hand in hand, Manfred shuffling alongside them, chattering enthusiastically about the night. Amina has a bath while Emmrich unwinds with a book in his study, and she finds a beautiful box of expertly curated sweets waiting for her on her pillow - all her favourites - along with a single red rose: they didn't get to partake in any of the traditions and festivities like most people do - and they likely never will due to their responsibilities - but Emmrich won't stand to see her miss out if he can help it.

They curl up together in bed and fall asleep as the sun rises, Emmrich's nose buried in Amina's hair and his hand curled on her chest over the steady beat of her heart. The inherent reminder of All Souls Day is fresh for both of them: they will die like everyone is destined to die... but what is there to fear in death when they've been blessed with such love in life?
