One of the roads my dad taught me to drive a stick shift truck on is down the side of a ridge, they tried to pave it once so there is about 150 feet of crumbling tarmac twelve feet wide near the top. The rest of that godforsaken road is 8-12 foot wide gravel with six switchbacks that are only a little wider. I don't know what the grade is, but it was first and second gear in the little red ranger, and if you were going up you had to back up to a wider point if you ran into someone because you aren't backing anything up that road. But the worst part was that if you took the bend at those switchbacks just a hair too wide you were going on a roll down a mountain side through brush and bramble dotted with trees just big enough to redirect you.

There was a Dodge D250 that was in the creekbed just about straight down from the top most bend, the guy who was driving it sure as hell didn't survive that trip, there wasn't enough cab left for it to be survivable. According to my cousin that truck was there for two winters before someone noticed it and threw before anyone bothered to hike up the creek to it. They found two other wrecks in the creek valley. But that was before my time so take the story with a grain of salt.
