365 Marvel Comics Paper Cut-Out SuperHeroes - One Hero, Every Day, All Year…
August 6th - M-11 the Living Robot
The automaton known as M-11 the Living Robot was built in 1954 by the ingenious inventor, Professor Cyrus Virro.  Virgo was commissioned to build the robot by Plan Chu, the leader of the criminal empire known as The Atlas Foundation.  Chu’s design for the robot was for it to participate in a grand scheme to indoctrinate Jimmy Woo as Chu’s successor and leader of Atlas.
Virgo succeeded in creating a truly powerful and formidable robot, possessing telescopic limbs, incredible strength, electricity emission and the capacity to fully reconstruct itself if ever broken or pulled apart.
Concerned over the prospect of creating a powerful machine completely under the control of the Atlas Foundation, Virgo took the drastic step of having the robot electrocute him, correctly reasoning that somehow part of his displaced life essence would encode itself into the android’s neural net, giving it free will and emotions. After slaying him, M-11 left the lab and walked into the sea, where it lay inert for years.
The Atlantean hero, Namora, happened upon the robot in the ocean and M-11 ended up becoming member of Jimmy Woo’s team of superheroes, The G-Men.  Following the disbandment of The G-Men, M-11 ended up in the possession of Plan Chu, who made subsequent alterations and refinements to the robot.
When Woo reassembled his former team to investigate the Atlas Foundation Chu was able to monitor and track the team through relays he had installed in M-11.
Plan Chu ultimately handed over leadership of the Atlas Foundation to Woo.  Woo decided to take this control and attempt to reform the organization into a force for good.  Woo’s teammates became his new Agents of Atlas and M-11 had remained at Woo’s side.
M-11 The Living Robot first appeared in the pages of Menace #11 (1954).
