Steddie living together in their first apartment in LA. Its the 90âs its a heatwave in the 100âs everyday. The power grid is overwhelmed so the city has resorted to rolling blackouts.
It was Friday which meant it was their neighbourhood tonight. After work Steve stopped at the store and got beer, candles, and pizza to prepare for the night. He was meeting Eddie at home and they would have an hour before the lights were out.
âHey baby Iâm home.â Steve called as he slammed the door shut behind him.
âGod its hot as balls Stevie.â Eddie yelled back dramatically from the kitchen. He made his way over and draped himself against the doorframe as he watched Steve kick his shoes off with a huff, his arms full of groceries.
âOh hi Stevie love of my life who got me booze and dinner, how was your day? Oh sure of course iâll help you,â Steve mumbled to himself giving Eddie a side eye and a hip bump as he made his way into the kitchen with the groceries.
Eddie followed closely behind him pulling him in close despite the heat and sweat on both of them, âHello Sweetheart how are you? I love you. Thank you for the groceries.â He mumbled into the back of Steveâs sweaty neck.
Steve broke easily, turning around into Eddieâs grip after only an eye-roll. He leaned in and accepted his expected kiss unable to stop the smile that spread across his lips. âYour hair is cute.â He said as he pulled back resting against the counter.
âWhy thank you hair professional Stevie darling.â Eddie batted his eyelashes and twirled a stray curl that had fallen out of the messy bun on his head.
Steve scoffed and pushed a hand against his face breaking free of his hold and going back to unloading groceries. âWe should have a cold shower before we loose power. Then I was thinking we could go on the roof and look at the stars later.â He said it casually but Eddie saw the way Steveâs eyes nervously looked back at him over his shoulder.
âThat sounds perfect, we can even bring the portable radio up with us I just stole new batteries from the store.â Eddie gravitated back into Steveâs space. âAnd Claudia just sent us that outdoor blanket she made.â His fingers danced up and down Steveâs waist.
âHow romantic of you.â Steve teased, trying to squirm away when Eddie pinched his hip.
âYou pretend to hate it but I know you are a hopeless romantic lover boy Stevie.â Eddieâs hand slid forward and pushed Steveâs hips back against his own. âIâll always give you what you want though, because I love you so much.â
Steve was speechless at the sincerity of Eddieâs words. He instead turned around and kissed Eddie in a way he hoped showed how much he loved him.
After they parted ways, Eddie took over in the kitchen to put away groceries and assemble their meal while Steve showered first. Once finished he decided to set up outside, dragging out the aforementioned outdoor blankets, portable radio and of course food. Once all was said and done he checked his watch: 7 minutes until the power cut. He listened and heard Steve humming to himself in the bathroom, so he lit a path of candles to the roof because he was romantic like that.
âHello Romeoâ Steve greeted him on the roof, 10 minutes later beers in hand. The cool bottles were already dripping from the heat, Steve wiped the excess water on the back of his neck.
âHello sweet steviette, you look so beautiful under this warm eveâs moonlight.â Eddie crooned back, draping himself out dramatically and reaching a hand to Steve. He smiled at his boyfriendâs eye-roll and took the beers from his hands.
âThank you nerd,â Steve said with an edge of sweetness to his voice, still leaning over into Eddieâs space for a quick peck,
They ate after that, both ravenous after their long days at work. It was a comfortable silence they sat in, so close their thighs touched. Eddie silently handed his crusts over to Steve and and Steve popped the top off another beer for him. And when they finished they lay together on their backs, hands intertwined as they looked at the stars.
âI love you, you know that right?â It was Steve who broke their silence first.
Eddie rolled onto his side, keeping Steveâs hand in his. âOf course I do.â He pulled it to him, placing a gentle kiss on Steveâd knuckles.
Steve turned his head to face Eddie, âOkay good, just making sure.â He smiled but Eddie could see the edges of worry in his eyes.
âCome here.â He tugged Steve over and into his arms despite the heat and the sweat covering both of them. âI love you and I know you love me back baby, forever and always,â
âForever and always,â Steve agreed as he and Eddie both leaned into each otherâs space until their lips were touching and a silly make-out began.
Eddie rolled on top of Steve attacking his face with kiss after kiss, on his cheeks, forehead, the bridge of his nose, his eyelids, and finally his lips. Steve deepened the kiss immediately hands gripping Eddieâs shoulders so insistently Eddie couldnât help but chuckle against Steveâs lips.
âWhat?â Steve pulled back but only enough to ask.
âYou loooove me,â Eddie dissolved into a fit of laughter, clinging to Steve and hiding his face in his shoulder as Steve laughed and tried to shove him off.
âOh fuck off.â

Chinaâs largest automaker, BYD, is selling its Dolphin hatchback EV for a low-low $15,000, complete with a 13-inch rotating screen, ventilated front seats, and a 260-mile range. Here in the U.S., you have to pay more than twice that price for the Tesla Model 3 EV ($39,000) with lower tech and only 10 more miles of driving range. In case $15K beats your budget, the Dolphin has a plug-in hybrid version with an industry-leading 74-mile range on a single charge for only $11,000 and an upgrade with an unbeatable combined gas-electric range of 1,300 miles. Not surprisingly, EVs surged to 52% of all auto sales in China last year. And with such a strong domestic springboard into the world market, Chinese companies accounted for more than 70% of global EV sales.
Itâs time to face reality in the world of cars and light trucks. Letâs admit it, Chinaâs visionary industrial policy is the source of its growing dominance over global EV production. Back in 2009-2010, three years before Elon Musk sold his first mass-production Tesla, Beijing decided to accelerate the growth of its domestic auto industry, including cheap, all-electric vehicles with short ranges for its city drivers. Realizing that an EV is just a steel box with a battery, and battery quality determines car quality, Beijing set about systematically creating a vertical monopoly for those batteries â from raw materials like lithium and cobalt from the Congo all the way to cutting-edge factories for the final product. With its chokehold on refining all the essential raw materials for EV batteries (cobalt, graphite, lithium, and nickel), by 2023-2024 China accounted for well over 80% of global sales of battery components and nearly two-thirds of all finished EV batteries.
Clearly, new technology is driving our automotive future, and itâs increasingly clear that China is in the driverâs seat, ready to run over the auto industries of the U.S. and the European Union like so much roadkill. Indeed, Beijing switched to the export of autos, particularly EVs, to kick-start its slumbering economy in the aftermath of the Covid lockdown.
Given that it was already the worldâs industrial powerhouse, Chinaâs auto industry was more than ready for the challenge. After robotic factories there assemble complete cars, hands-free, from metal stamping to spray painting for less than the cost of a top-end refrigerator in the U.S., Chinese companies pop in their low-cost batteries and head to one of the countryâs fully automated shipping ports. There, instead of relying on commercial carriers, leading automaker BYD cut costs to the bone by launching its own fleet of eight enormous ocean-going freighters. It started in January 2024 with the BYD Explorer No. 1, capable of carrying 7,000 vehicles anywhere in the world, custom-designed for speedy drive-on, drive-off delivery. That same month, another major Chinese company youâve undoubtedly never heard of, SAIC Motor, launched an even larger freighter, which regularly transports 7,600 cars to global markets.
Those cars are already heading for Europe, where BYDâs Dolphin has won a â5-Star Euro Safety Ratingâ and its dealerships are popping up like mushrooms in a mine shaft. In a matter of months, Chinese cars had captured 11% of the European market. Last year, BYD began planning its first factory in Mexico as an âexport hubâ for the American market and is already building billion-dollar factories in Turkey, Thailand, and Indonesia. Realizing that â20% to 30%â of his companyâs revenue is at risk, Ford CEO Jim Farley says his plants are switching to low-cost EVs to keep up. After the looming competition led GM to bring back its low-cost Chevy Bolt EV, company Vice President Kurt Kelty said that GM will âdrive the cost of E.V.s to lower than internal combustion engine vehicles.â
So, what does all this mean for America? In the past four years, the Biden administration made real strides in protecting the future of the countryâs auto industry, which is headed toward ensuring that American motorists will be driving $10,000 EVs with a 1,000-mile range, a 10-year warranty, a running cost of 10 cents a mile, and 0 (yes zero!) climate-killing carbon emissions.
Not only did President Biden extend the critical $7,500 tax credit for the purchase of an American-made EV, but his 2021 Infrastructure Act helped raise the number of public-charging ports to a reasonable 192,000, with 1,000 more still being added weekly, reducing the range anxiety that troubles half of all American car owners. To cut the cost of the electricity needed to drive those car chargers, his 2022 Inflation Reduction Act allocated $370 billion to accelerate the transition to low-cost green energy. With such support, U.S. EV sales jumped 7% to a record 1.3 million units in 2024.
Most important of all, that funding stimulated research for a next-generation solid-state battery that could break Chinaâs present stranglehold over most of the components needed to produce the current lithium-ion EV batteries. The solution: a blindingly simple bit of all-American innovation â donât use any of those made-in-China components. With investment help from Volkswagen, the U.S. firm QuantumScape has recently developed a prototype for a solid-state battery that can reach â80% state of charge in less than 15 minutes,â while ensuring âimproved safety,â extended battery life, and a driving range of 500 miles. Already, investment advisors are touting the company as the next Nvidia.
But wait a grim moment! If we take President Donald Trump at his word, his policies will slam the brakes on any such gains for the next four years â just long enough to potentially send the Detroit auto industry into a death spiral. On the campaign trail last year, Trump asked oil industry executives for a billion dollars in âcampaign cash,â and told the Republican convention that he would âend the electrical vehicle mandate on day oneâ and thereby save âthe U.S. auto industry from complete obliteration.â And in his victory speech last November, he celebrated the countryâs oil reserves, saying, âWe have more liquid gold than anyone else in the world.â

EARLY CONCEPTS
The following stories are still in the early conceptual stages and donât have full drafts yet. I havenât figured out all the details, but I can tell you the general idea of each one.
Trailing the Wailing - Princess Blomi discovers that she has a sister named Sygbarne she never knew about, and sheâs trapped in the tallest tower of Folkvar Palace. She canât let her parents know that she was snooping around, or they might not let her rule a hold in the future. She hires the Freelance Good Guys to free Sygbarne from her tower and take her to a contact on the outskirts of the city.
This is easier said than done, because Sygbarne has never been outside before and sheâs going absolutely wild about it. The mercenaries chase her all over the city, as they themselves are being chased by the Folkvar Guard. Can they get Sygbarne to freedom? Or will they all be caught and thrown behind bars forever?
Crazy in Love - Patienceâs studentsâLily, Buddy, and Zovâare now running humanitarian missions with her all over Looming Gaia. Lily and Zov begin developing romantic feelings for eachother, but theyâre both so broken that neither of them knows what to do with these feelings.Â
They consult Patience and the other priestesses for advice as they learn to court each other. Patience knows they are both highly volatile people and this relationship has the potential to be an abusive disaster, so she supervises them closely throughout the process. They have many missteps and intensely frustrating moments, but they are determined enough to power through these obstacles using the skills their mentors taught them.
Eventually, Lily and Zov find themselves enjoying a rather unconventionalâbut happy and loving relationship. Ironically, their relationship ends up being more functional than most, as they actively use proper exercises in maturity to maintain it.
Fair Trade - Ojio is a big-name CEO in Zareen Empire now, and his fame does not go unnoticed in Damijana. Chieftess Serafeen contacts him with a trade offer: His company for Tarajeenâs life. Ojio is so offended by the offer, he assembles a crew of Zareenite mercenaries and outfits them with highly-modified combat Mechaskemas, then sends them to take Tarajeen back by force. His plan works, Serafeen is furious, and the whole event causes a serious diplomatic incident. Damijana officially declares war on Zareen Empire, and refuses to back down until they hand over Ojio as a prisoner. Luckily, Empress Qara refuses to hand over her empireâs most profitable inventor to her greatest enemy. Ojio is safe for now, but the war rages on.
Ojio becomes quite the controversial figure, but at least he has his wife backâŚExcept Tarajeenâs role as an arcane battery has left her with no arms and legs, and she is completely insane to boot. She is not the woman he married anymore, and he mournfully realizes their relationship can never be the same.
Still, he cares for her and wishes to help her, so he builds a custom Mechaskema for her to replace her lost limbs. She is treated with advanced Zareenite medicine, which takes the edge off her insanity, but she will never be fit to live independently. Ojio buys her a nice house in the scenic mountains, staffed with caregivers and a full security detail, as his final act of love before letting her go. He asks Jeimos to keep in touch with her, and as difficult as that is for Jeimos, they push their past behind them and make amends with their mother.
Those are all the ideas I have for now! I will post more in the future as they develop.

Quick Bio: Tony Stark is the heir and CEO of Stark Industries, an internationally renowned and cutting edge tech company that his father founded after WWII. Though his father's company made weapons for the military, pitching Stark Industries as a "patriotic" American company, Tony has reinvented the business to instead focus on medical technology and vowed never to work for the military or U.S. government again. As the superhero "Iron Man," he secretly flies around the world, destroying bombs and guns and returning stolen resources commonly used in the tech industry.
Note: Tony is a canon character from the Marvel Comic Universe (616) and the majority of my characterization comes from the Disney XD Show Avengers Assemble and the novel Iron Man: Extremis by Marie Javins

Anthony "Tony" Stark was born to founder and CEO of Stark Industries, Howard Stark, and his wife, Maria. Publically, Howard was a weapons manufacturer known for his contributions to the super soldier program, which produced Captain America, and his work on the Manhattan Project during WWII. He also founded S.H.I.E.L.D., an international intelligence and peace keeping agency. To the world, Howard was a patriotic industrialist, but to his family, he was as a drunk prone to bursts of anger and verbal and physical abuse. As the years stripped away the last of the charming man she'd married, Tony's mother became deeply depressed and rarely left her room, though prior to her her self-isolation from society, she founded the Maria Stark Charity Foundation which helped to fund women's shelters and youth centers.
As a child, Tony quickly showed signs of genius and at the age of five began to create machines which provided order in his chaotic household. At six, his father began to force Tony into consuming large quantaties of alcohol, beginning an addiction that would continue for the rest of his life. He left home at seven to attend boarding school, and at fifteen, Tony went to MIT, graduating two years later at the top of his class with a double major in Physics and Engineering. He would eventually earn seven doctorates.
At seventeen, Tony fell for a twenty-two year old woman who convinced him to give her the access codes to Stark Industries. Her family, a rival of Howard's, later released all of the same products, and the woman broke up with Tony once he'd served his purpose. He was sent to Europe for further schooling, where again, he met a woman whose parents rivaled his own; though they attempted to run away together, their family's tracked them down. Her family, HYDRA agents, attempted to kill Tony before he escaped. A few years later, Tony's parents died in an assassination disguised as a car accident.
After inheriting Stark Industries, Tony changed the company from soley a weapons manufacturing firm to a beacon of technological futures, including state-of-the-art medical tech, in hopes that one day they could create more things that saved lives than took them. He also bought the car company that made the vehicle his parents had died in and fixed their faulty break systems. Tony not only continued but expanded his mother's charity efforts.
During a weapon's demonstration in Afghanistan, Tony's convoy was attacked with his own weapons, and he was taken hostage by the Ten Rings organization. He would have died from shrapnel drilling into his chest if he had not been saved by fellow prisoner, Ho Yinsen. Yinsen performed open heart surgery on Tony in the cave where both were being kept, and instilled a battery-powered magnet in his chest that kept the shrapnel at bay. When their kidnappers attempted to torture Tony into making them a missile, he and Yinsen instead built the Iron Man armor with which he escaped the cave. Yinsen, however, sacrificed himself in the attack, wishing to be reuinted with his late family.
Once back in America, Tony immediately shut down all weapons manufacturing at Stark Industries, after seeing first hand that he was part of an industry with no accountability. What he had been raised to believe was patriotism was indeed violent imperialism, and his weapons had been used to terrorize people all over the world, whether it be by the hands of terrorists or American soldiers. Tony continued to update the Iron Man armor and eventually used it to remove as many of his weapons as he could throughout the world. Eventually, Obadiah, his father's business partner, learned what Tony was doing and attacked with a suit of his own, revealing that he had been the one order the hit on Tony in the first place. The two fought, and Obadiah was killed.
About six months after Iron Man was created, Tony was approached by Nick Fury, the new director of his father's organization, SHIELD, who claimed he was building a team of super powered individuals. Because of his deteriorating mental helath, Tony was not immediately cleared to join, but when a Norse god, Loki, took over New York City with an alien army, Tony and several other super-powered individuals were brought in to save the day. Tony earned the trust of his team by flying a nuke into an alien wormhole, a journey he barely survived.
After their successful save of the city, the Avengers decided to continue fighting forces of evil, and Tony set up their headquarters in the top few floors of his company's New York building.
Hoping to keep his super hero identity and famous persona separate, Tony operated for many years in secret, claiming Iron Man to be his body guard until one day he rushed in front of a car to save a dog and was photographed without his mask.
