Hi y'all, this is unrelated to my posts! I just wanted to ask in case anypony had an idea for me. My girlfriend has curly hair, but no one ever taught her how to take care of it. My hair isn't curly, so I don't know how to take care of it, very well. Here is some info about her hair type:
Her hair is a mix of mainly 3a and 3b, and she is white and Asian (though I'm not sure that is relevant, I figure that it is worth mentioning, as often I see race mentioned in the discussion of hair types. I'm ignorant as to whether or not it is relevant, and I hope it bears some relevance! I just have made an assumption based on discussions that I have seen. I apologize if it isn't relevant!) Her hair doesn't get super greasy, but it can be a bit, and she does have occasional dandruff, as well as frizz. I'm not sure if this bears relevance to hair porosity, but when she washes it, it stays wet for a while.
All of this is information that I think may bear relevance to her hair type/texture, and I just wanted to ask because she wants help taking care of her hair! I'm not good at that sort of thing, but I want to learn for her. Does anypony have advice, tips, resources, or ideas for caring for her hair type?
Thank you so much! And, again, I know this isn't typical content, but I'll get back to my typical content after this!

curly hair 101
hii :))
since "curls" is literally in my username, its only natural that I post about something for the curly girls :D
so why not start with a beginner's guide to curly hair :)
·°●·°●·°●·°●·°●·°●·°●·°●·°●·°●·°●·°●·°●·°●·°●·°●·°●
in this guide
hair types/ curl patterns
wash day routine + products
regular hair care
hair styles + cuts
hair types
soo first of all i think its helpful if you get a gist of what hair type you have, e.g 2c, 3b, 4b etc...
its not mandatory and doesn't really mean anything but like it definitely aids when you're looking for haircair & inspo with hairstyles and haircuts and all that jazz 🤗 [ <- jazz hands :) ]
here's a chart to help you
obviously do some of your own research if you're unsure- this isn't very in-depth and doesn't use irl examples
also keep in mind that you can have multiple, and a wide range of types on one head LOLL like mine ranges from 2C -> 3C 🫣
(PS: this guide will be tailored to type 2 -> 3 hair just because that's what I have experience with and don't want to potentially ruin anyone's type 4 hair 😭 but if aspects of this apply then feel free to apply them 😇)
wash day routine + products
alrighty so i see some overcomplication/people being scared of curly hair washing- like looking at porosity and whatnot but IMO its really not that difficult
the only thing you really need to worry about for the washing aspect is getting moisturising (curly recommended) shampoo & conditioner, just cause if you don't it could dry out your hair and have a pretty dodgy finished product 😬 (I use Umberto Giannini for this)
washing is pretty standard:
wet your hair thoroughly, so that no part is dry
shampoo round 1, make sure to scrub thoroughly to get rid of any dirt and grime 🙈
rinse
shampoo round 2, this should turn your hair into its own bubble bath 🫧
rinse
condition, rake through your hair and make sure it is everywhere
let sit for a little bit, ~2 mins maybe
rinse
and thats it :))
don't use a regular towel, use a microfiber towel if you're using one at all so that all the moisture isn't drained from your hair before the rest of the products
now for the curly hair routine:
start with leave-in conditioner and run it through the entirety of your hair - I use Garnier leave-in, like the big tub
then run some curl cream through your hair and scrunch it in, make sure there is an even application throughout all the hair - I use the Shea Moisture curl cream
~ this next bit is optional because its a gel cast + styling but honestly id totally recommend going the extra mile for it cause it holds your curls for longer and makes ur hair softer ~
apply curly gel to your hair and scrunch it in, I use Aussie curl gel
for styling, I take the middle -> top sections of my hair, take some extra gel and finger coil the curls
let your hair air dry or diffuse
once completely dry, take some hair oil and scrunch it through your hair and separate any coils, I use argan oil
then you're done :))
regular hair care
there isnt really much to say here tbh
only that
if you need to refresh your curls, you should be able to do it just by finger-coiling with water
DON'T brush your hair while dry, it causes breakage
if you sweat, your hair will most likely get frizzy
to tie your hair use a scrunchie
sleeping with a bonnet helps reduce frizz but icl I don't 🫣
hair styles + cuts
okay let me preface this section by saying PLEASE PLEASE PLEASEEEE do some research about curly stylists in your area, I promise it will be worth it because curly hair cutting requires special training (despite the fact we've probably all cut our hair ourselves at some point 🙈)
now here are some things I usually ask for in a haircut:
a trim off the edges to keep my hair healthy (I have hair down past my shoulders)
2 or 3 layers to keep volume around my head so it doesn't look like a flat landslide...
some long bangs at the front to frame my face
obviously thats just me so do some extra research and see what you'd like
not much, but here are some hairstyles i usually do for everyday wear:
hair down (obviously 🤗)
high ponytail/bun with a few curls at the front
half up half down with a few curls at the front
thats basically all the basics 🙃
i know its hard to start on a curly hair journey especially if you don't know what you're doing, so if you are (or aren't) i hope this was able to help you in some shape or form 🫶🤗

I believe in the curly haired Damian supremacy, mostly for the angst that comes with being a little mixed boy in a family of pasty whites who have no clue how to care for curly hair.
I think that for the first few months of Damian being in Gotham he wouldn’t let them see his curly hair at all. He would straighten it religiously in an attempt to look more like Bruce and the other Robins who had pin straight black hair. Even when it rained on patrol they never saw it curly because he kept the hood on his cape up which covered his hair.
Inevitably they find out, maybe his straighter breaks or maybe he just forgets but anyway one day he comes downstairs for breakfast with his beautiful curls on full display and everyone is in a state of disbelief because how did they never notice. They convince Damian to wear his hair straight more often and eventually he goes to a gala with his natural hair.
And everyone thinks it’s a perm.
He has to post proof that it is in-fact his natural hair, including doing his hair on camera and posting baby pictures of himself with his hair and of Talia with her hair curly.
#damain wayne#talia al ghul#damian wayne headcanon#Curly haired Damian supremacy#Alfred goes out of his way to find out what products work for his hair#He leaves a little care basket full of useful products out on his bed the next day#Dick try’s to get a perm in solidarity but it’s ruined after an impromptu water fight breaks out in his apartment

okay so!
if we look at the race hair, it has two things, shorter hair is a lot softer while the curls seem more frizzy. Curly hair is often more hard to maintain and if you have curls like Paul then its always best to have curl specific shampoo and conditioner (which from my experience makes curly hair puffy especially if its longer)
I think he might not have had correct hair products or he doesn’t use correct one and uses regular one you can buy at a store just for race weekends (or he uses ones you get from hotels)
what also influences this is weather as he travels alot, curly hair has alot more texture and pulls in more humidity and dryness which makes it seem more frizzy.
its alot more different when it cones to off season hair, it seems like he has correct hair products and is taking more care (maybe even using hair masks) it can also be from feeling less stress that makes the hair seem more healthy
omg elle you really popped off with this 🥰🥰
the frizzyness when it’s short is so 🥺 like in monaco and spa? very cute 🤭 oooo interesting about the haircare, i didn’t think about that…. yeah it would make sense for him not to have the right products (or not have the energy/time to properly tend to his hair) during race weekends, but the thought of him actually thinking about that and putting a lot of time into his hair when he's at home 😭
oh yeah i bet the weather affects it a lot too, and also just the racing in general? i suppose having a helmet rubbing down on it when it's all sweaty and the helmet is fuggy/stuffy is not great for the volume & curls either.... but the off-season hair, the puffiness!! the volume!! love how its sometimes very like individual, tiny curls and sometimes just a big flop of curl 🥺
#idk why but i wanna imagine anna and their mom teaching him about how to take care of his curls 😭#like them showing him the proper routines and products#because they both have gorgeous curls too#<3<3#oh how i wanna write about taking care of his hair#helping him with hair masks and taking care of it because its been a stressful season and the hair needs recovery <3#thank you elle!!! i loved this#i need all and any info on curly hair because i have literally no idea#the world has never seen flatter hair than mine#asks!#chrysanthemonza!#paul aron#elle <3#paul thoughts

Starting a Routine
If you haven't already, you should get started on formatting a routine for your wash days and keeping track of what days you wash your hair. Knowing when you'll have your wash days and what you'll get done when they eventually come around can be more helpful than you may think.
One important thing to note is that your curly hair routine doesn't necessarily require a three-pronged binder, complete with color-coded sticky notes and alphabetically arranged tabs. Something as simple as modifying your digital calendar or opening up a new note on your notes app can help you arrange everything related to your curly hair regimen.
As I stated before, the frequency of your wash days depends on a wide array of factors. Chances are, you already have a general idea of how often you wash your hair. The only thing that remains for you to do is to set your schedule in stone by taking note of when you'll wash your hair. This can make it easier to work around days that you anticipate will be busier than others and allow you to make time for curly hair needs.
Another important thing to do is to start a routine. Searching up "curly hair routine for [your curl type] hair" on YouTube will give you a surplus of videos that give insight into what other people with your curl type are doing to take care of their curls on wash day. You should look through a diverse spread of videos to get a general idea of some common things people with your curl type are doing. For example, are they all using a hair diffuser on their hair? Are they scrunching their curls with a mousse? What type of brush are they using to de-tangle their hair? Once you have a grasp on what you want to incorporate into your own regimen, you can start drafting your curly hair routine. When researching, you should make a mental note of where your information is coming from. Videos with more views are not necessarily more reliable or objectively beneficial. Plus, videos that are posted or sponsored by a particular brand, especially one that specializes in selling hair products, may be biased toward showcasing specific items.

Curly hair vs Wavy hair
#before anyone says anything yes I know you're technically not supposed to wash you're hair every single day#because the chemicals in the shampoo and other products can damage your hair#I still wash my hair every day because#as I'm sure other people with curly hair can tell you#brushing that shit dry or with some water spritz doesn't do shit#you need to fully go through the stuff if you want to get any knots out#which as another thing#curly hair WILL give you knots by the minute if it natural#anyways#a comic to vent a little frustration around people who seem to think they know everything about how to take care of curly hair#(even when they don't have any themselves)

I love seeing Taylor’s cute ramen curls and I’m very curious about what her routine and go to products are bc they look so healthy and defined even in crazy conditions
#I’m really curious about what products she uses bc they look so much healthier and the curls are more bouncy when wet#maybe it was just growing out the hair she bleached#she said during fearless and speak now she uses no products or even masks - just hydrating shampoo#Somone said she uses a curly hair crush#I think she’s prob using keratin now based on how healthy it looks#even when her hair gets wet now the curls are very healthy#anyway just curious cause I’ve got curls#I’m just now learning how to take care of mine

today I have learned I can put hair dye on my blonde streaks without it killing my curls :D (this was from a test strand)
#my curls are 3a when I take care of them right 💔#took me forever to find the right products#but I don’t have anything to protect it when I sleep so it loses shape and gets frizzy day after showering#curly hair#hair dye#talking to the void

New rule: Before youtube shows me any sort of tutorial for a curly hair routine, it has to show me:
the number of products I am expected keep in my house
the cost of each product plus the total cost of buying all of them new for the first time
the amount of time each product is going to last before I have to buy a new bottle
the amount of time the routine actually takes
the number of times a week I'm expected to do this whole routine
#hair care#curly hair#i truly do not believe i need six or seven products to make my hair look good#and in fact find the final look on a lot of these routines to look sort of wet and gross
