Zap Energy says that they’ve solved Z-pinch by “shear stabilization”, where they have different sections of the plasma moving at different velocities (faster outside, slower inside). Doesn’t shear like that cause instability, not suppress it? Or are plasmas not subject to that law of fluid dynamics
You’re thinking of instabilities in flowing plasma like it’s turbulence in flowing fluid. This is partially correct, but like... okay. So, the field of physics that governs the movement of plasma is called magnetohydrodynamics, where you introduce Maxwell’s equations into Navier-Stokes. It is horrible. I am but a humble mechanical engineer, and I leave the physics to physicists.
The physicists tell me that Zap Energy's science is solid.
Bit of context: Zap Energy is taking an old fusion energy concept from the 1950's called a Z-pinch, and revamping it with modern plasma physics.
A Z-pinch works on the principle that passing an electric current through a conductor generates a magnetic field, which in turn crushes (or "pinches") the conductor. The first observations of the pinch effect were in hollow metal tubes that were used as lightning rods, like this one from a factory in 1905:

Plasma is electrically conductive, and is subject to the same compressive pinch effect as metal. Lightning itself is a plasma pinch, actually.
When you pinch a plasma, it heats up. The fast-moving, charged plasma particles repel each other and push back against the magnetic field until the system reaches equilibrium. The stronger the plasma current, the harder the pinch, the more pressure, and the more heat. With sufficient plasma current and the right hydrogen isotopes, you can create a pinch strong enough to induce nuclear fusion.
The pinch effect was first utilized by a class of fusion machines called Z-pinches in the early 1950's. However, those Z-pinches were extremely unstable. The most common analogy is that compressing plasma with a Z-pinch is like trying to squeeze jello with rubber bands.

Both linear and toroidal Z-pinches have been built. The toroidal Z-pinch above shows some of the characteristic kink instabilities of a pinched plasma – it goes all squiggly. Researchers started adding external magnets to Z-pinches to help reduce instabilities (which eventually led to the development of the tokamak), but could never get a truly stable plasma. Z-pinch fusion research was largely abandoned in favor of the tokamak and stellarator.
However, the external magnets of a tokamak or stellarator are massive, complex, and use incredible amounts of power. The University of Washington and Zap Energy went back to the old concept of a magnet-less linear Z-pinch, but with a more modern understanding of plasma physics. They discovered that by using a flowing plasma rather than a stationary one, with a faster flow rate on the outer layers (a "sheared-flow" Z-pinch), they were able to achieve great stability with no magnets.

Rather than filling a chamber with stationary hydrogen and then pinching it, they blow a "smoke ring" of plasma around a cylinder into their chamber. An electrode at the tip of the cylinder then fires a pulse into the plasma, which creates a pinch with a complex velocity profile.

Zap Energy’s physics basis is good. They’ve pretty convincingly demonstrated that sheared-flow does indeed stabilize a pinched plasma, and if they can pull off magnetic confinement fusion with no magnets, it will be massively cheaper than any other method. The uncertainty that Zap is facing comes from mechanical considerations (in particular, electrode erosion is a tricky problem to solve), and the relatively thin margins for efficiency that are inherent to any pulsed fusion technique.

MIDNIGHT RAIN — KTR | 03-perfect image
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2:11 am, it was cold and rainy surprisingly in the summer. I felt everything crushing down on me. If it was work, family, scandals? It was just too much, I and lots of others are not machines, we cannot do everything perfectly like they want us to. But the only thing I can do is smile and act as if nothing has ever happened, Even if I try there will be so many shits that I don't want other's to handle because of me.
So here I am, finding it amusing how such a big tourist attraction could feel so empty for once. But damn FOR ONCE MAN thank you rain! It was nice taking all that fresh air in, feeling the warm breeze hitting my skin was not too fun but hey it is the summer, unless you live in the UK or something.
I was just minding my own business until, I saw this dude coming closer to where I was. His hair was messy, kinda looked like he just got up from a nightmare, Yikes. But I couldn't see his face, he was wearing a mask. '....masks of course, the people with the hottest hair always wear a mask.' I thought to myself 'How am I supposed to know if you're really hot or not..'
'Should I go talk to him?' 'No chae miyeon, privacy.' I slapped myself to reality. But I think it was kinda too loud considering how he suddenly turned his head my direction. 'great. JUST GREAT.' All those thoughts were gone as soon as I heard a tired voice saying; "Are you okay?" I tilted my head up to looked at him 'SHIT. what am I supposed to reply with. Yea yea I'm fine, no you looked like you fell down from heaven itself. okay.... why was that even an option.'
"Yea, just thought there was a mosquito." WOW such a great answer congratulations. He just nodded before sitting down beside me 'FUCK HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO ACT MORE NORMAL NOW YOU'RE NEXT TO ME.' hold up. act I can act FOR FUCK SAKES.
"Why are you awake and up here so late." He asked me before I could... "Just needed some fresh air. what about you?" "Needed to clear my mind." same bitch, same. "If you don't mind me asking, what's your name?" He asked, which caught me off guard "Oh I do mind." WHAT THE HECK! NO NO THAT'S NOT WHAT I MEANT!! "Oh... sorry then" he responded while scratching the nape of his neck. Miyeon Chae, This is the result of your action take responsibility
"Depends on what you're going to do with them," "Keep it to yourself? Sell it on the black market. I don't know." I retorted back. Should I tell him my real name? should I lie? Decision making should not be anywhere near me.. BUT back to reality, He chuckled at my words and responded with "Yes... I will sell it on the black market. Now give me your name." "Woww such a creep..." OMG WHAT IF HE IS A CREEP.
"No actually, do you mind if I get your name?" Right... my name... "Miyeon, Chae Miyeon" I said holding my hand out to his "As in the Actor? Or a normal person" Hah.. this bitch. " Don't know whatever you think I guess." He laugh while shaking my hand. "Kim Taerae."
If I'm being honest, His hand was huge. Would probably have me flying from one slap with that hand. But then I looked back to what he said was his name, Kim Taerae. I looked up to meet his covered face. Gorgeous eyes babes. But the hair, face shaped and hand. did match the description of the ZB1 Kim Taerae.
Eyes widened when I come back to my senses that this gorgeous looking dude right here, who still has my hand in his. Could actually be Kim Taerae Zerobaseone.. I took my hand away " I should probably get going..." "It was nice meeting you." I said quickly before running to my car. yes I drove here...
"I'm done for."

Doldrey — Only Death Is Eternal (Iron Lung)
Tumblr media
Only Death Is Eternal, the new tape from crusty death metal band Doldrey, is among the most thrilling, hugely satisfying releases from the metal underground so far this year. Unstaunched energy, massively chunky riffage, a general sensibility that’s as nasty as it is raw and exciting — all those things characterize Doldrey’s sound more or less adequately, but we’ve heard those words before, and none of them captures what’s so engaging and immediate in these songs. The sorta-stale typicality of those descriptors is complemented by the symbolics of the band’s output; all the muscled warriors and carnage in the titles and j-card art operate somewhere very remote from our everyday realities. But somehow Only Death Is Eternal is right there, fitted into the most aggro contours of the current conjuncture. It’s a terrific record.
Likely Doldrey would be wise to approach the ideological problematics of our social moment with some tentative, distant maneuvering. The band is from Singapore, and while young men are no longer subject to arrest if they wear their hair a bit long in that city-state, its dominant culture and legal-juridical apparatus still skew strongly toward the conservative. Death metal and especially crust (with that subgenre’s strong orientation toward lefty radicalism) are likely perceived as expressions of undesirable politics, and of aberrant personality.
Hence, perhaps, Doldrey’s semiotics, most of which can be traced to Kentaro Miura’s manga Berserk. (Doldrey, I am told, is the name of a fortress important in one of the long-running comic’s early narrative arcs.) That explains the swords-and-sorcery proclivities of the band’s album art and the overheated language of some of its song titles: “Blood of the Serpent,” “Torture Paradise,” “All Is Hell.” Those read like a middle-schooler’s sense of the profound, or of the profoundly brutal, if that middle schooler had been brought up on a steady diet of Conan the Barbarian, Moorcock’s Eternal Champion stories and, well, Berserk.
The nerd-factor associated with piles of mass-market paperbacks and endless trips to the comic book shop is effective cover. And maybe it’s not really (or not just) cover. Berserk’s most emphatic symbolic element is its pervasive and hyper-graphic violence, some of which has disturbing scope and awfully imagined cruelty. Doldrey’s music taps into some of that intensity, especially in the heaviness of its death metal buzz and thunder. Check out the middle section of “Moral Decay” or the last third of the title track. Still got all your teeth? Better turn it up louder. And try not to think about ongoing genocidal wars or immiserating modes of human exploitation when you do so. Good luck with that.
Beyond the implied fascination with bloodshed and the nods to Swedeath unpleasantness, it’s the crusty stuff that lifts the record into the musical midnight sun. This reviewer loves the forty or so seconds of flat-out intensity in the middle of “All Is Hell” (beginning just after the guitar solo) and the opening 90 seconds of “Societal Machine.” You can just about smell the filthy denim and feel the greasy leather, all crowding into a moldy basement space. And in that crush of bodies, you’re happy about it all: the smell, the feel, the sense of being among like-minded freaks. Allies, as it were.
None of that will dispel the nightmare that is 2024’s ongoing tilt toward fascism, a mind-boggling combo of scenes as awful as the race-rioting in the UK and as stupid as Hulk Hogan ripping open his tee shirt on the RNC podium. Berserk? Yes, but also all too real. Doldrey has our soundtrack ready.

TF2 PLAYABLE CAHARCTER LORE:
Okay, so just some context. Mann Co is a business organisation that runs most other companies in the world. Everything was shared equally between two brothers/heirs to the corporations power and money, apart from one thing in particular. A gravel pit. These two brothers, known as Redmond and Blutard Mann wanted to overachive and be better than one another, so decided to hire mercenaries to fight for this land. This original team, founded between 1800-1850's was comprised of Billy the Kid, Stonewall Jackson, Abraham Lincoln, Alfred Nobel, John Henry, Nikola Tesla, Sigmund Freud, Davy Crockett, and Fu Manchu. They would take the roles of the mercinaries like so:
Scout: Billy the Kid (1859 - 1881)
Soldier: Stonewall Jackson (1824 - 1863)
Pyro: Abraham Lincoln (1809 - 1865)
Demoman: Alfred Nobel (1833 - 1896)
Heavy: John Henry (Folk Hero)
Engineer: Nikola Tesla (1856 - 1943)
Medic: Sigmund Freud (1856 - 1939)
Sniper: Davy Crockett (1786 - 1836)
Spy: Fu Manchu (Fictional Villain)
These people would battle with others with similar weapons, stature, and power until they would eventually get too old to fight. After this, the two brothers soon realised that they may die prematurely before the battle could end, so asked for personal commissioned machinery designed to keep them alive for longer. [[This will be elaborated in the plot later, this stuff is kinda important.]]Okay, now the old team is dead. Time for the new ones. 1930's mercs were probably the most advanced out of all of the mercs, with the 1850 mercenaries looking like they've been pulled off the streets to fight, and the 1970 mercs looking like a mix of the two old teams designs. Everyone has some sort of camo on them apart from their engineer, who possibly be Fred Conagher, the father of the Engineer we know and love. Fred Conhager, in particular, may be the same man who created the machines keeping the Mann brothers alive, but we are currently unsure. The next generation, and the one we know today is the 1970's team. This consists of:
Scout- Jeremy
Soldier- Jane Doe
Pyro- Unknown
Demoman- Tavish Finnegan DeGroot
Heavy- Mikhail
Engineer- Dell Conagher
Medic- Mr. Ludwig
Sniper- Mick Mundy (Adoptive name)
Spy- Unknown
Along side them is Ms.Pauling and The Administrator. I'll list out characters as shown, one by one.
**SCOUT**
Full name is unknown, so we'll stick to Jeremy. He was born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. He is the youngest of eight children, and so constantly looks for attention. Can't read, but can run extremely fast. Seems that a specific brand of fizzy drink, known as Atomic Bonk can make him much faster. Dies in the comics and goes to heaven, whete he is told he was God's gift to all women, and was sent back to earth to 'get laid' [[This is the comics words, not mine]]
Has a tattoo of tom jones with the words 'S€X BOM' on it [Told you he couldn't read] and is canonically Spy's son. Has a crush on Ms. Pauling.
**SOLDIER**
His name may not even be Jane Doe. Because those are USA and UK placeholder names for unidentifiable corpses. [[Jane Doe as a woman]] Is a God-fearing patriotic Midwest American. Despite his role in the team, he has not once been in a war situation. He just got to the frontlines in WW2 and started blowing up Germans. He has lead poisoning, although we're not sure if that's why he's like this, he is extremely aggressive and has a special move called 'rocket jumping' where he can fire a rocket at his feet, shooting him into the air. It doesn't hurt him however, because he doesn't think it will [[So stupid he bends nature's laws at will??!?!?]] He was also roommates with a wisard called Merasmus. Merasmus kicked him out, and tom jones became his new roommate.
Soldier kills tom jones. For no reason. Soldier is also in love with Heavy's sister, Zhanna.
**PYRO**
Whoo boy, this is a confusing one. We do not know Pyro's gender, where they're from, or even if they are a person. We do know that many characters refer to Pyro as he/him, but Soldier does have a suspicion that they might be a woman. He may be schizophrenic, or it could be their optical mask, but he sees the battle as a fluffy arena filled with unicorns and lollipops. However, they do have the capacity to be very much enraged, and cut off Soldier's hand once when in a car with Demoman and Ms. Pauling.
**DEMOMAN**
Drunk. Born in Ullapool, Scottland. His parents were Tilly DeGroot and her husband who we don't know , whom both are blind. Demoman was put up for adoption by them after being bad at blowing things up. He would eventually find a book called 'The Bomonicon' [[I hope i wrote that right]] with a mischievous spirit inside. Once he had opened the book, the spirit inside made it's way to his eye, haunting his eyesocket, and making him lose said eye. He then blows up his adoptive parents while trying to hunt for the loch ness monster, then gets taken back by his original parents. His mother keeps asking him to get a job, even though he makes 3 million+ a year. Loves alcohol. Like, really loves alcohol, so much so, that when he eats normal food, his body thinks it's been poisoned. After an extensive time away from alcohol, his body turns his stomach into a makeshift distillery, fermenting bone marrow into alcohol. This alcohol in particular is so strong, it gives blood-sucking robots [[Don't ask]] alcohol poisoning. Can also do something similar to Soldier by 'Stickybomb jumping' that also takes no damage, due to him being too drunk.
**HEAVY**
Heavy was born in Russia sometime around WW1. His father was an anti-revolutionary who opposed the Communist uprising, so he was executed and Heavy's family put in the gulag for three months before it was burnt down in 1941 and all the guards tortured to death. Yeah, you heard me right, the gulag. He has three sisters called Zhanna, Yana and Bronislava. His mothers name is currently unknown to us. His weight is the same as his HP: 300. He is quite a nice guy when it comes to his teammates and gives even more affection to his guns, who of one he has a case at the end of his bed for. This gun in particular is named Sasha, of which he is very possessive and which weighs 150 kilograms and fires $200 custom-tooled cartridges at 10,000 rounds per minute. He also reveals that it costs $400,000 to fire his weapon for 12 seconds. Heavy has named all of his primary weapons, basic Minigun being Sasha, Tomislav being Svetlana, Brass Beast being Oksana and Huo Long Heater being Sheila. He was also the first in the team to have the experimental ubercharge operation and survive, making him bulletproof. Also sandvich.
**ENGINEER**
Known as Dell Conagher, this man has eleven PhD's. Yes, you read that right. ELEVEN. He was born in Bee Cave, Texas, USA, and may or may not be related to one of the previous mercinaries in the classic team. Apart from this, he has created machines like teleporters [[Don't put bread in them]], sentries, and dispensers that he can place around the battlefield to help his team. He is friends with Pyro, and seems to understand them, despite their speech being muffled. One of the only few to help The Administrator with her Australium-Age related problem, and answered the phone for her when she died once.
**MEDIC**
Okay, this will be too long if I go into detail. This is quickfire. Mr. Ludwig was born in Stuttgart, Germany and has little regard for the Hippocratic Oath. He is insane. He loves doves, especially his most beloved one, Archimedes. Managed to get into contact with the devil and made a deal that would cost his soul. We do not know what he had sold his soul for, but the chances it was for his medical 'discoveries' is quite high. Managed to steal an entire skeleton and got away. Lost his medical licence soon after this. While giving his teammates surgeries, stole all of their souls and surgically added them to his own soul. During a Halloween party, he was caught off gaurd by a mugger. After knocking him out, he then put the muggers brain in a pumpkin. This would later help him out. Re-hired to aid the 1930 Classic team for a new leader, *Grey Mann*. When sniper was shot down by the classic's heavy, he brought him back to life an hour later with the help of a blue whale's pineal gland directly into his brain stem. The entire surgery cost about 1.3 billion dollars. Classic heavy, after seeing this, crushes his favourite dove, Archimedes. He also brings his bird back to life. After this, classic heavy and Medic get into a fight. Heavy shows up, only for classic heavy to shoot Ludwig twice in the chest. After quickly swindling the devil by giving him another soul for a pen, he comes back to life, and then pretends it is an inducer that would make classic heavy give birth to three healthy baby baboons, due to the three baboon uterus's he had placed inside him during a surgery [[I'm confused too, don't worry]] Classic heavy belives the bluff, giving Heavy enough time to take him down. after that, he takes out the real inducer and claims that the human body could only generate two at the most.
**SNIPER**
He is Australian.
Except, he isn't. He's a New Zealander.
New Zealand is Atlantis btw.
His adoptive name is Mick Mundy, although his real first name is Mun-dee, like his real mother and father, Bil-Bel and Lar-nah, making his real name Mun-dee Mundy. New Zealand is underwater due to the fact that the geniuses wanted to isolate themselves from the rest of the world. After being shot out of the country in a Krypton-Superman-Spacepod style fashion, he is adopted by Jonathan Mundy and his wife Mrs. Mundy in Australia. He then becomes skilled in shooting from afar. In the most previous comic, he dies. Medic brings him back to life, and he immediately attacks him, asking why he was the last person he saw before bleeding out. Yeah, he also pees in a jar and throws it at people as a weapon, so... yeah. Also, golf trophy.
**SPY**
Not much is really known about his past but all that is known is that he was born in France in an unknown region. It's a mystery on how he became a master spy and a master of disguise as no one knows if someone trained him or he rather he trained himself. We do know however, that he is Scout's father. He seems to hate everyone and everything, and may or may not have lung cancer due to how many cigarettes he smokes. He is snarky, witty, and cocky, some of these traits are shared with Scout also. He got shot in the kneecaps when a plan in the latest comic, and Sniper saved him by shooting the guy who did it. He also disguised as Tom Jones when Scout was dying, and for the first time, directly called him son. He wears a custom tailored Louis Crabbermaché suit, is valued at $10,000, and has his own smoking room within the base.
I made this all in the Undertale server. Don't ask.
This took me three days to do.

This vintage novel is a gift I received from a friend of mine who works as a bibliopole.

With the current genocide happening in Palestine, I want to offer some book recommendations. Not specifically on the historic and ongoing struggles of Palestinians, but in regards to the bigger picture of colonialist imperialism.
"How To Hide An Empire: A History of The Greater United States" - Daniel Immerwhal
"Astrotopia: The Dangerous Religion Of The Corporate Space Race" - Mary-Jane Rubenstein
"Lies, Damned Lies: A Personal Exploration Of The Impact Of Colonialism" - Claire G. Coleman
"How Europe Underdeveloped Africa" - Walter Rodney & Vincent Harding
"Reclaiming Two-Spirits: Sexuality, Spiritual Renewal & Sovereignty In Native America" - Gregory D. Smithers
"Hitler's American Model: The United States And The Making Of Nazi Race Law" - James Q. Whitman
"We Had A Little Real Estate Problem" - Kliph Nesteroff
"The Looting Machine: Warlords, Oligarchs, Corporations, Smugglers, And The Theft Of Africa's Wealth" - Tom Burgis
A couple fiction books:
"Terra Nullius" - Claire G. Coleman, uses Alien Invasion Sci Fi to discuss the Aboriginal perspective of Colonialism.
"The Island of Doctor Moreau" - H.G. Wells, is all about settler colonialism and forced assimilation of the natives, using the scientific hubris of trying to turn animals into people as the metaphor.
A couple books that the first chapter is the important part for this topic:
"Convict Colony: The Remarkable Story Of The Fledgling Settlement The Survivors The Odds" - David Hill. The early chapters focus on the practice of the British to criminalise the poor, and then punish them by sending them to work the colonies. Displacement begets displacement.
"Less is More: How Regrowth Will Save The World" - Jason Hickel. Great book, would recommend reading all of it, but the early chapter that explains the history of capitalism, also includes information on the Enclosure Movement that displaced people from their land in the UK, either sending them into the factories of the industrial revolution, or overseas to the colonies, and how this all ties to the model of infinite growth that we now find ourselves.
Books I'm currently reading, but seem very relevant to our current hell world:
"Chokepoint Capitalism: How Big Tech and Big Content Captured Creative Labor Markets And How We'll Win Them Back" - Cory Doctorow & Rebecca Giblin. How corporations crush and control labour markets is not a separate issue in a world where nations value themselves based on their GDP value.

Global Snow Cone Machine Market Overview and Strategic Growth Analysis 2024 - 2031
The global snow cone machine market is experiencing a notable surge in popularity, driven by the growing demand for refreshing and flavorful frozen treats. This article explores the market dynamics, key trends, competitive landscape, and future prospects of the snow cone machine industry.
Tumblr media
Introduction to Snow Cone Machines
Snow cone machines are specialized equipment designed to crush ice and create finely textured ice shavings, which are then flavored with various syrups to produce snow cones—a popular treat at fairs, festivals, and food stalls. These machines are essential in the foodservice industry, providing a simple yet effective way to offer customers a delightful frozen dessert.
The global snow cone machine market presents significant opportunities driven by increasing consumer interest in frozen treats, the growth of the foodservice industry, and innovation in flavors and machine technology. While seasonal demand and maintenance challenges exist
Market Overview
Key Market Drivers
Rising Demand for Frozen Treats: The increasing consumer preference for refreshing frozen desserts, particularly in warmer climates, is a primary driver of market growth.
Expansion of Food Trucks and Mobile Vendors: The growth of food trucks and mobile vendors offering snow cones and other frozen treats has significantly contributed to the demand for snow cone machines.
Innovative Flavors and Ingredients: The introduction of unique flavor combinations and natural ingredients in syrups is attracting a broader customer base, further stimulating market growth.
Challenges in the Market
Despite the positive growth trajectory, the snow cone machine market faces several challenges:
Seasonal Demand: The demand for snow cones is often seasonal, peaking during warmer months and festivals, which can impact sales for manufacturers and vendors.
Maintenance and Durability: Ensuring the longevity and performance of machines can be challenging, as regular maintenance is required to prevent breakdowns.
Types of Snow Cone Machines
1. Manual Snow Cone Machines
Manual snow cone machines require manual operation, where users manually crank or push to crush ice. They are generally more affordable and suitable for home use or small events.
2. Electric Snow Cone Machines

The History and Origins of CTC Tea
Tumblr media
Tea is one of the most beloved beverages in the world, and its history is rich and diverse. Among the many types of tea, CTC tea holds a special place, particularly in India and the UK. The term CTC stands for Crush, Tear, Curl, a method of processing black tea that was developed to meet the demands of the modern tea industry.
 The Birth of CTC Tea
The story of CTC tea begins in the 1930s in Assam, India, the world’s largest tea-growing region. Assam's unique climate and soil conditions create the perfect environment for growing robust, flavourful tea leaves. Traditionally, tea processing was a labor-intensive and time-consuming process. With the growing global demand for tea, particularly in the British market, there was a need for a more efficient processing method.
Sir William McKercher, a tea planter in Assam, developed the CTC method in the 1930s. This innovative process revolutionized the tea industry by significantly increasing production efficiency and consistency. The CTC method involves three main steps: crushing, tearing, and curling the tea leaves. The result is a small, hard pellet-like tea that brews quickly and produces a strong, robust cup.
 The Spread of CTC Tea
CTC tea quickly gained popularity for several reasons. Its uniformity in size and shape made it ideal for tea bags, which were becoming increasingly popular in the mid-20th century. Additionally, CTC tea's strong, brisk flavour suited the British preference for a robust cup that could stand up to milk and sugar.
Assam tea, known for its malty and bold flavour, was particularly well-suited for the CTC process. The region's teas, including those produced at Makaibari, are renowned for their rich, full-bodied character. Today, Assam is the largest producer of CTC tea, with the majority of its tea processed using this method.
The Process of Making CTC Tea
The CTC method is distinct from the traditional orthodox tea-making process. Here’s a step-by-step look at how CTC tea is produced:
Plucking: The process begins with the careful plucking of two leaves and a bud, the most tender part of the tea plant.
Withering: The leaves are spread out in withering troughs to reduce their moisture content by about 50%. This step is crucial for preparing the leaves for the CTC process.
Crushing, Tearing, and Curling: The withered leaves are fed into the CTC machine, where they are crushed, torn, and curled into small, hard pellets. This mechanical process breaks down the leaves more thoroughly than orthodox methods, ensuring a consistent and strong brew.
Fermentation: The processed leaves are then spread out in a controlled environment to oxidize. This step develops the rich, robust flavour characteristic of CTC tea.
Drying: The oxidized leaves are dried to halt the fermentation process and reduce moisture content. This step locks in the flavour and ensures the tea has a long shelf life.
Sorting and Grading: Finally, the dried tea is sorted and graded according to size and quality. The tea is then packaged for sale.
 Enjoying CTC Tea
CTC tea is known for its strong, brisk flavour, making it an excellent choice for those who enjoy a robust cup. It’s often used to make chai, the spiced tea that is a staple in many Indian households. The strength of CTC tea allows it to hold up well against milk and sugar, which are common additions to chai.
For a pure, unadulterated experience, Makaibari’s organic CTC tea offers a delightful cup embodying Assam tea's essence.
