An Impossible Choice Fanart - Alyssa, daughter of Rhaenyra I

Thanks from the very bottom of my heart to @helaenalyst for making this amazing sketch of a grown up Warrior-Princess Alyssa Velaryon (Alyssa Targaryen when she ascends), the firstborn daughter and only child of Rhaenyra I Targaryen (and Ser Criston Cole of the Kingsguard)! I never thought I'd get fanart of my fics outside of commissions, but here I am, being gifted one for my Crisnyrent fic, and I'm more grateful than I can put into words. Thank you so much, Carla!

Omahgaaa look at her 🥰🥰🥰 I based Alyssa's smile off Criston Cole's (Fabien Frankel's) while her face is largely based off a young Rhaenyra's (Milly Alcock).

The necklace you see around her neck is Anguy's (a OC mentioned in Criston's background in my fic), and the earring is a gift Alicent gives her on her fourteenth name-day. I based her eye-and-hair colour and resting expression on descriptions of Aemon, son of Jaehaerys I. (RIP, you would've been a great king)

One-shot on the way

So I've discovered I'm an impatient bitch because in the midst of writing my longer Crisnyrent (yes, that's what I've chosen to call this throuple's pairing) fic I've written a shorter fix-it one-shot. Good news is that it's almost finished. There are elements of pro Team Green, except that Greens and Blacks aren't even political factions yet, which mostly means I acknowledge that Rhaenyra was selfish and that she's not just a victim, but that her former friends have reason to resent her. Also a small sprinkle of anti Vizzy T because not even Paddy's charming performance can make me ignore how much of a pos he is.

Idea of this one-shot is that something goes wrong with Rhaenyra's first birth and Alicent and Criston realize maybe the differences between them aren't so irreconcilable after all, when the alternative is letting her die alone.

Here's the summary (subject to change): "The maesters' assiduous forecast proves accurate. On the very day the arrival of the Crown Princess' child is predicted, her screams echo through the halls of the Red Keep. But childbirth is never truly predictable, and again the gods deign to imperil the mother and child both.

When Rhaenyra Targaryen cries out for help in her delirium and agony, it is the names of her enemies she calls, and like the invisible hands of the gods, it changes everything."

Crisnyrent Smut Fic - Update

Okay before I start, I want to preface the update with the fact that I'm going to make this my first ever experiment in writing a full story before uploading it, in my life. I will be keeping you all updated here on tumblr so you know it's not abandoned, and maybe I'll take some days, at most a week, to write some short one-shots to keep you guys fed in between while you wait (actually short one-shots this time, it's not turning into another An Impossible Choice dammit!)

So the first chapter of this long-planned smut fic is 14000 words long!!! Ofc it's first draft, and now that I'm writing the whole thing before I upload, it might vary significantly, but that's the preliminary word count.

And it's all. plot. So much build-up, there's angst and fluff and build up to more heart-wrenching angst. The premise is an AU where Rhaenyra and Alicent befriend Criston sooner (the timeline won't be so fleshed out, just enough to get an idea) and the three of them become a known trio in KL. Bisexuality all around, though much of it in the form of pining and sending heart-eyes from afar, omahgaaa🥰🥰🥰

I actually like how its turned out so far, but now in the second chapter is when the angst I've been building up to is going to blow up and I'm kinda postponing because the first chapter ends on such a hopeful and lighthearted note omg i don't wanna hurt them 😭😭😭

Finally I get to write Criston more cunningly, like he deserves to be, even if it's not for as dramatic a purpose as Kingmaking in canon.

And god, when I finally get around to writing and making ideas for the actual smut scenes (which will be after a lot of plot), goodness. I'm very much excited for that.

An Impossible Choice - Quick Update

It's so like me to start what's supposed to be a quick fix-it fic to cleanse my palate in the midst of writing another bigger fic, only to have the quick fix-it to grow out of hand to the point that you've written more on it than the FIRST FUCKING FIC. I've written 7000 words for chapter 2 (which is almost finished, and then it's editing left).

NOT ONLY THAT, but if you look at the fic on AO3, you'll notice that it says 1/3 chapters, not 1/2.

Kill me.

Anyway, enough of my half-hearted griping; the second chapter is a short Alicent, primarily Rhaenyra POV, and it has lots of apologies and tears and hugging. I've also named the chapters, and the third chapter is more of an epilogue tying up little relationship loose ends. It will in all likeliness be as short if not shorter than the first chapter.

An Impossible Choice - Update on Chapter 3

Hey, it's ya boi, Des, back at it again with the egregious lack of self-control. This time I said that the third and final chapter was gonna be a epilogue even shorter than the first chapter, and in true Des fashion, I went ahead and wrote 12500 WORDS. FFS!!! At least i didn't add a fourth fucking chapter.

With my self-hatred out of the way: the chapter still has to go through editing, but after that it's time for me to upload and move on with the Crisnyrent smut fic I was gonna work on originally.

I've been considering compiling small headcanons in the end notes of what happens after the short, contained timeline of this story, as well as holding a small Q&A. We'll see if anything comes of these ideas.

Anyway, third and final chapter will be a Criston POV and be called The Queenmaker.

P.S: No, she wouldn't have done that to Alyssa or herself. It was a bluff. She'd have fucked him up psychologically tho for the rest of his life.

I loved the addition of nyra trusting only maester orwyle in your story. he is indeed a gem in series hah.But also , will cole ever find out he fathered her daughter?

Real talk, how come none of you cowards have made a Rhaenyra/Alicent/Criston threesome smut fic yet? The three single most attractive people in the whole show, with the narrative framework necessary for some delicious angst and catharsis basically handed to you on a platter? I'll post irregular updates on my fics if and when I'm writing them, but mostly I just browse stuff I like. I'm mostly a ship-goblin.

3. If you have constructive criticism, ask if I'm in the mood to hear them. Then proceed accordingly. I love improving my writing, but I also just have bad days and not trying to hear about that.
