Let's create a character!
The reveal!
Over the span of a week we created a character together in a fun little create a character game! Thank you so much for everyone who participated in the polls, it was so much fun!
Without further ado, here is the result of this game:
Name: Ülkü
Hair colour: pink
Eye colour: amber
Physical feature: freckles
Positive character trait: loyal
Negative character trait: stubborn
Hobby: ghost hunting
Btw, Ülkü is a (mostly) female name in Turkish that means ideal or even utopia. So we created ourselves the ideal character for a ghost hunting story! (The name can be unisex, which is even more fun)

Prefect Four CAS ~ Black Butler x Sims
Black Butler's new season is out, which means more inspired Sims creations! Here's my take on the prestigious Weston College Prefects: Herman, Edgar, Lawrence & Gregory!
Not really satisfied with their looks, probably going to change their skin, maybe search for other cc (male hairstyles ~ specially long hair ~ recommendations are highly appreciated!) and touching up their faces a bit more... by now that's what they look like!

My commissions are open if anyone is interested, I just don’t have a commission sheet yet. I love to draw cats, and I could also draw your OC maybe, wink* wink*.
A cat headshot like this would prob cost around $30 (200dk) (26.80eur) somewhere in that area.
And a character sketch like this would be around, $44 (300dk) (40.20eur)
Contact me if you’re interested and we’ll talk😉

Monster Hunter Wilds (Beta) | Character Creator Chat!
[Previous Post] [First Post] [Next Post]
Welcome back to CCC, (Formerly Character Creator Critique) where I just kinda yap a bit while working through a character creator. Today, we reach the end of our 'Modern Monster Hunter Journey.'
------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Just as a bit of a disclaimer: this is just really my (mostly uninformed) views on design and character creation, I'm mostly doing this 'for fun'! And will mostly just serve as a 'snapshot' of my current views and perspectives. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Alright, Let's Jump in and see the changes! The screenshots I have seen have looked VERY promising! (I'm playing on PS5 this time, I prefer PC on linux, but had issues)
Alright, we're dropped right in to character creation this time, And you can start with your character or even your palico (cat) Next we have this 'basic settings' screen:
Here we can select out voice, pitch, bearings, clothing, starting armor, and we'll have some presets to get us started. And we have a separate tab to adjust our colors for everything:
We have 24 presets that span across feminine and masculine styles. A good number of styles and skin tones are represented. But once again, you need to dig into the advanced options (Detailed Settings) if you want to change the hairstyle. But lets look at the other options first, You'll only have 6 total voice types this time around, But you can adjust the pitch, to get a little more variation. But a Really nice new option is 'Bearings': We have 24 presets that span across feminine and masculine styles. A good number of styles and skin tones are represented. But once again, you need to dig into the advanced options (Detailed Settings) if you want to change the hairstyle. But let's look at the other options first, You'll only have 6 total voice types this time around, But you can adjust the pitch, to get a little more variation. But a Really nice new option is 'Bearings':
I'm really glad they actually added this! as part of removing the fix 'gender' options, they actually separated the animation styles! You can select confident for the traditional 'masculine' animations, or 'graceful' for the ones that were previously exclusive to female characters. I actually love the name change too! I feel like it could relive some of the pressure of picking a picking an animation style that "dose not match their body type", It just asks, how do you want your character to move? Anyways, so we're starting with 'preset 18', let's dig in!
I'm already getting a little overwhelmed by all the choices, so again We'll start with my style savvy/Tumblr avatar as a base, Now on to hair options:
And wow, it looks like they really heard the community feedback! 45 styles right out of the gate? They cover a Wide range of style and lengths. And we get a bunch more hair tweaking options as well:
You can add highlights to your hair, with adjustable gradient and intensity, and you can even adjust your hair length! And for hairstyles with a fringe, you'll have a secondary slider just for tweaking that! And best of all, you can switch around hairstyles without messing up your other options:
I really love the flexibility of the hair options in this game, so many times I'm a little frustrated with hair highlight options, Often their too bright, too dim, or only cover a small select portion, based on your chosen hairstyle! But I feel like this game's system really let you dial in the exact look you want! Next are the options for your skin, and they really upped their game:
(sorry for the messy image, I'm trying to say under the 30Image limit) Starting at the top, we have 'Skin Color', We have a similar looking color picker, But now with labeled sliders for precise adjustments! Here are the maximum and center values:
A huge improvement to Monster hunter World's range/ center. And even a nice step up from rise, even considering the more realistic art style.
Next up is skin texture (completion):
Here are the 6 options previewed on a darker skin tone, And you'll also be given the option to change the transparency of this texture, to reduce the intensity. I went with the first option, for the detail it added to the face, with a blend value of '5' so it breaks up the overall uniformity of the skin, while still being subtle. Wrinkles also return as shown above, with 4 presets, and their own intensity slider. (I kept them off) And you'll end off with the option to enable/disable your face wrinkling when it moves:
(Left=Disabled, Right=Enabled) It's a very subtle effect, and I think it adds a lot of extra life into our the character's look. (So I left them on
Next up is Eyebrow/Eyelashes:
(I also switched to 'daytime lighting' so I can preview colors better) You have 24 options this time around, offering a good selection of styles, they're a bit hard to see with my hairstyle. But I selected some think slightly arched/angled ones, trying to aim for that 'confident look' You'll have colors options for both the brows and lashes, And for the brows you'll have addition options to adjust their transparency and positioning and depth. I did not tweak these much from the default, but I did push them a little closer together, and I think nudged the inner angle a bit to give them a bit more of a 'striking' appearance. As for eyelashes, I brightened these up a tad, aiming for a dark gray, hoping this will let them stand out a little in profile against the darker tone hair. Oh, and it finally looks like we have dedicated sliders for both length and thickness of the lashes, a very nice change, as before they were combined. Next up is eye color:
Not a ton of options here, as it's just for the color and iris settings You can set the iris color, with a separate option for the Sclera (whites of eyes) You can even change the iris size, but even maxed out (shown here) they're not very larger. And you can even set each eye individually, not just the iris color, but the sclera, and eyes size too! Next up is Eye Shape:
Tons of sliders, along with markers to indicate what you're working on, and they'll be a faint green indicator to show the previous setting. You'll be able to adjust all the usual eye settings, size, depth, height, rotation, and the corners, as well as the eyelids, One of the new features I did not expect was "Eyelid Fold Width/Rotation", this actually lets you adjust the outer creases on your character's eyelids, and this is not something, I think I've seen in other creators. I did not end up using most of these settings, I just slightly adjusted the eye angle, and adjusted the sharpness of the corners to match the more stylized mature look of my avatar. Before we move on to noses, I should method both eyes and nosee, and mouth, now have a new 'preset blending' feature, where you can select to pre-made designs you like and work to find a variant you like by blending the designs:
You only have 9 presets to work with for both, but just like the skin texture options, the ability to blend allows for a ton of flexibility, with direct visual feedback without having to rely on sliders:
(NO, your head is NOT normally will not move with nose changes, lol) This is when I also found the new 'Display Options':
At any time, you can open this menu to adjust the lighting, armor and hair, test animations, and change the shown expressions. All things that required dedicated button presses before, all in one convent menu! Some new additions, include the option to display the hunter's face or profile on screen regardless of their current position/orientation. This gives you more control over what you see when editing, And you can even hide the hud! (for screenshots!) Onto the full nose options:
Aside from the addition of the blending feature, we're left with roughly the same setting as monster hunter rise. But the advantage to the higher detail models in this game, is that the parts you're working with feel less blocky and segmented, So if you change an angle size and position, the surrounding areas seem to adjust more seamlessly, So again not idea, I'd still like to see easier to adjust option like slope, and more precise adjustment for the tip of the nose, but I think the blending feature should really be a great choice for people like me that just want to dial in a nice look quickly! Next up is mouth:
The bending option returns, and outside that. we're pretty much back to the same sliders from rise,a decent selection we can adjust the mouth position, size and depth, along with the lip corners and thickness, but now we get an option for teeth customization as well! Both a base color, and a 'stain' color (with opacity slider) to help them from being 'blindingly white' I guess. I left this mostly alone as well. Facial Hair makes it's return:
Now with a dedicated 'beard' section, and we finally get REAL beards! like decently long, flowy beards, unlike the super few super thin options from previous games, and the hair quality is much higher than ever before too! Mustaches get a bit less love, but I'd argue there's still some pretty good options available:
Sadly, there's no extra 'length' options like hair has, But you still have an option to dye the bear and mustache if you'd like, with the option of separate coloring, and even adding 'greaying/highlights of your preferred color and intensity! A really great showing! And next up is face shape:
This area sees an improvement as well, with more defined cheek and jaw options, and renaming "Chin Position' to the more understandable "chin depth". I'm not really sure how the 'Facial Structure' option is meant to be used however, it just seems to randomly flatten areas of the face. :-/ Next up, 'Physique',
(Left MH:Rise 100%, Right MH Wilds 100%) And the muscle slider actually work on feminine body types now! So if you wanted to make a ripped feminine looking warrior now you can! ...But backing up a bit, the top option is for 'Muscle Mass':
This seems to be an all-in-on body scaling slider that allows you to adjust your characters body size, independently of defined muscles. And that's all for the body, now we move on to the makeup/face paint:
46 total option, and 3 slots to play around with Just like with rise, we can adjust the opacity, size and angle, and you'll have the normal color slider, If you want a gloss, semi-gloss, or metallic look, or a slight glow, like in rise, you need to enter the 'texture setting' menu, this also feature a new 'sheen' slider You just need to pick a makeup choice that fits your look better. However, a new addition is to apply the look to just one eye (or side of the face) so arguably that means you'll have quite a bit more freedom in how you design your look overall! (But it would have been nice if they gave use an extra makeup slot to work with) Alright, well I'm just about out of embeds, so we're gonna need to wrap this up quick, Next up is clothing:
For the first time ever you can mix & match outfit pieces, Both the traditionally male and female gear are available, And you can pick and chose parts of each, and combine them to make your own outfit! This was pretty much just treaded as 'underwear' in previous games, with a limited selection (2 male, 2 female) but now you can really make it your own, with better (but still restricted) dying options, and if you still find it, (or other armor in game) a little showy, There's a new 'underclothes' option that allows you to add an undershirt or tights! And once done, you'll have the option to review and screenshot all your edits, no saving presets like in mh:rise, and still no export option ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Once you're done with your hunter and monster you get a super dramatic opening video that features your character and is fully voiced! It's a HUGE step up to the opening from rise, and even tops the opening from world in my opinion, here's the first few mins:
So yeah, if it was somehow not clear, I had a BLAST working with the character creator in this demo! It's a generational leap over monster hunter world and rise! And I love all the improvements, and was still blown away by all the features, despite seeing dozens of screenshots online! There are a few minor issues I had, Like appreciate them moving all the lighting/scene/posing stuff to a separate menu, but I often found thing like changing the faction expression would not 'stick' causing me to have to keep going in and out of that menu every time I made a face edit to see how it looked with a smile, where previously I could just press 1 button/key. Also, while I LOVE the preset blending, I kinda wish they also let us just pick a preset like before, and had a few more options for each, like we could go into a presets' menu, and have 'blend' be a separate option, rather than have it be the default. Also, I really hope in time for launch they'll have a option to save and export our design to share with the community! But that's all I can think of for now, It's a really great character creator, nearly on par with inzoi, but much easier to use! (and obviously it's not aiming to be photorealistic) Hopefully they also improve the PC performance, and don't block Linux But I guess we'll see! I'll be pre-ordering this one for sure! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thanks for reading! I had a lot of fun making this, so I hope you had fun reading it as well!
As always, comments, questions, and suggestions are welcome! And If I describe something 'objectively wrong', or use the wrong terminology, feel free to correct me, I'm always looking to improve! (But If it's subjective/personal preference, please let me figure it out myself, so I find my own style! :D )

Creating a character using astrology:
A fun way to create a character (or just make for fun using your existing characters) is by making a birth chart for them. You can break down a character’s personality easily, and connect each part to ensure a well rounded and unique person/creature/object/etc. I like to do it using the Sun - Mars Method.
Sun sign - Who the character is at their core. This represents your ego or pride. It is a key factor in assessing someones’s overarching personality as well as their goals in life. You can even tie in theme with the sun sign. For example, I have noticed many protagonist are Aries. That is because Aries are driven and passionate, they push the story along on their backs because they refuse to quit.
Moon sign - If the sun is your outer personality, the moon is your internal world. This includes a character’s emotions and how they handle them. Are they someone who cries to relieve pressure or do they compartmentalize? Water Moons are more emotional, inwardly and outwardly, while Air Moons are more disattached and rational.
Rising sign - This is your social personality, how others see your character and how they interact with the world. It can also give details about outward appearance. For example many Leo Risings are noted to have beautiful hair and Aries Risings often have facial scars.
Mercury sign - This is the planet of communication, intellect, and memory. This is how your character thinks and speaks think and speak. Blunt? Sly? Think things through or jump right in? This is what Mercury tells you. For example, Libra Mercuries can be more diplomatic than Sagittarius Mercuries, who are more blunt.
Venus sign - This can tell you how someone acts in their relationships, (platonic and romantic) as well as a lot about their aesthetics. Are they a commitment phobe or do they seek out relationships? How do they dress, casual, always flashy, or something in between? Pisces and Aquarius Venuses have more of an acletic style while Virgo Venuses tend to lean preppy and polished.
Mars sign - This is the planet of aggression. It can tell you how someone acts in conflict as well as how they work. Are their arguments methodical, logical? Do they fly off the handle or avoid everything all together? Cancer Mars can be reactive, sensitive and are known to hold grudges. Aquarius Mars will make you feel crazy with their distant nature and stubbornness.

Let's create a character!
Doing a fun little Writing Game over the next few days. Every day we create a new aspect of our character.
It starts with the name: Which letter does the name of the character start with? I used a random alphabet generator to find ten letters.
Tell me in the comments one name that starts with the letter you chose!

Animal Crossing: New Horizons | Character Creator Chat
[Previous Post] [First Post] [Next Post] It's been a long and tough week, so I don't think I'll have the energy for the weekly style savvy post. But hopefully you enjoy this instead. Welcome back to CCC, (Formerly Character Creator Critique) where I just kinda yap a bit while working through a character creator.
Here's a new entry in my 'Character Creator Critique' Series Where I live-blog working through the creator in various games. So I have played this game and created a character previously. However, that was about a year ago, and I don't remember much, So let's start fresh, new character new island!
So the game starts out asking for your same and birthday. And I must say, I really love the UI in this game, the color/textures, really make it look just so inviting! Next you get to start making your character,
I have noticed that some more recent Nintendo games, (like splatoon) Have done away with specific gender labels, and they don't use any cryptic working like "Body Type A", I think this is nice, you just choose how you want to look. As soon as you select your style, you'll be randomly assigned one of the staring outfits, here's a few that I saw when restarting the game a few times:
Next up is skin tone:
(Your starting outfit is picked at random, when you reach this point) And, I think they offer a good selection, it may not be the most realistic, but I think they cover a good range, without breaking the game's art style. Next, you can pick one of the starting hairstyles:
Honestly, I find this a little disappointing. Yes, I'm aware you can get more later, But only four starting options tailored towards each gender feels slim There's not much in the way of variety, especially considering you'll probably be stuck with this look for a few real-time days or weeks. I do like the hair color options though! That shade of orange, and the pale yellow options are nice lesser seen presets. Next is Eyes:
They have a TON f options for these, it looks like the options even span a few different art styles, as I recognize some from the Gamecube entry. Some can look a little odd, in the modern art style, But I feel they all fit well enough that you could get used to them with time, and it means you could probably care over your (basic) look from previous games. I could have gone for a few more eye colors, maybe a brighter blue, or something that offers a warmer brown color, but I think the selection sticks to the AC color pallet well enough Next up, nose & mouth in one combined screen:
And wow, that's... pretty sparse. I get that eyes are important, But it feels like there are more eye options than hair, skin, nose and mouth combined! I kinda wish the nose color adjusted with the skin tone, it looks a little 'clown like'. imo. Also, what's with the mouth choices, Smile, and slightly wider smile take up half the choices. oh well, I like 'option 3', it seems like a a happier version of the standard neutral face. Next is makeup options:
And I did not expect much from this, but I'm surprised they only offer two blush colors. Neither option or color really shows super up well on darker skin in my opinion, so I'll go without. So here's the final product:
Yeah, Animal Crossing does not really cater towards the 'Rock' look, But I think it's a decent enough reimagining. (Why do I always do these comparisons at the end, lol) They then ask more details about where you live, so seasons will work properly, (it's just for norther vs Southern Hemisphere)
Next You get to pick your starting island shape:
And you're asked a question to decide your starting items:
And now we've made it to the island!
My starting villagers were Muffy and Sampson:
If you're unhappy with your starting outfit, villagers, or your island's starting fruit, you can just close the game and try again. And I think the randomness for how your island starts is pretty cool, But I really think, the starting outfit could be something we choose, Even if they only give us a few randomly generated choices, or just let us pick a favorite color. But it's not a huge deal.
My starting island had apples, (same as my main island) so I restarted the game a few times, and eventually found a good mix. Peaches and the sailor style shirt. (and villagers 'Reneigh' and 'Rowan' --- ...And in retrospect... maybe I should have waited a while before making this post. This probably came off as fairy negative, as I was just picking on the lack of options this game starts with. That was not my intention, I've missed most the AC entries, but I know the character builder as still come a LONG way. (Especially from the 'quiz based' character creator on GameCube)
But regardless, I feel this serves as a decent "Part 1" coverage of this game. If I stick with the game I'll come back for a "Part 2" when I've unlocked more stuff. I've always though animal crossing was "neat", But the linear progression the “nook miles” system offers, may be enough to keep me interested for longer. I dropped the game previously because I found it a little confusing how to unlock stuff, but after watching a few youtube video to get me started, I'm ready to give the game a second chance! -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Next CCC: Fashion Dreamer Thanks for reading! I had a lot of fun making this, so I hope you had fun reading it as well!
As always, all comments, questions, and suggestions are welcome! (I'm also looking for feedback on this new style, how's the formatting)
You literally can't bother me, (unless you go out of your way to be a jerk), so post whatever you need to say!
