Broken Vessel/Lost Kin

Also slight TW: for sickness

Their story starts off exactly the same as the Greenpath Vessel. They are twins so they hatched at the same time and escaped at the same time. They traverse through Deepnest and eventually get split up at Fungal Wastes. Even though they were split up, their journey was pretty similar.

Lost Kin, along with Pure Vessel and Little Ghost are the only siblings that have functional wings. All of them share the same type of wings which are the Monarchs Wings/Kings Wings.

Lost Kin wandered and made their way to The City of Tears. There they lived as a homeless child and was really not in the best positions. They had to steal food and pickpocket trinkets to get by. After falling though some unconstructed areas, they fell into a cavern were they ended up in Kingdoms Edge. They stuggled to get food and ate either rotten meat or hoppers if they are able to get close enough to them.

This obviously made them super sick, even though void makes it really difficult for bacteria and viruses to live within it. This causes Lost Kin to leave messes everywhere, whether that be messy kills or vomit. Just like the Greenpath Vessels story, someone noticed their activity.

The Nailmasters have multiple training halls throughout Hallownest, one of them being at the edge of Kingdoms Edge. Considering that the hut is in the middle of nowhere, they have to go hunt often. Usually, Oro and Mato would hunt as they would get into arguments often, and Sly would make them hunt for hours on end as a form of punishment and bonding for the boys. This would change when they started describing the disturbance in Kingdoms Edge.

They figured that some poor excommunicated noble was out there, as the activity was messy and would attract predators. But the footprints were too light and small for it to be an adult, and it was clear that this bug was getting sicker based on the amount of vomit that the bug was expelling. The last straw was when Sheo actually witnessed Lost Kin trying to drink water from the few watering holes in Kingdoms Edge. This made all of the Nail masters realize that there was in fact a tiny child out there and their condition was simply worsening. Now either Sly and Sheo or Mato go out of the hut to hunt so if they do encounter the child, they are able to help them. Out of all of the Nailmasters, Oro is the only one who isn't the best at comforting others, so logically if you wanted to convince a child to come to a different environment, you would want Oro to do that.

Funny enough it was actually Oro that found and brought back Lost Kin. While everyone was looking for the kid, they were actually so close by to the hut. They were extremely weak and were barely able to function. This wasn't so good when a Giant Hopper snuck up on them, trying to kill them. They hide inside of the cravise in the ground, trapping themselves. The commotion and the insistence of killing Lost Kin caught Oros attention and left to see what was going on. He saw a giant Hopper continuously jumping on one spot in the ground accompanied by distressed whistling. Oro took care of the hopper and looked where it was jumping at and saw the child curled up.

Lost Kin was not in the best shape. That had random cuts and bruises everywhere. There was a noticeable layer of grime on them and had acid burns. Oro knew he had to take care of the kid and immediately tried to take the kid back with slight resistance from the kid, as they were too weak to fight back or even escape.

Oro took care and cleaned the kid as much as he could without hurting them or putting them in distress. He was unable to mend all of their wounds. Once he was able to do that he waited for his brothers and dad to come back. Once they got back, they were obviously surprised that Oro was able to get the child and take care of them as best as he could. Sly mended the rest of their wounds and contemplated on what he should do with the child.

Obviously, he was gonna keep the child until they were nursed back to health, but that was met with such resistance, and clearly wanted to leave. Eventually, the child was slightly interested in the Nailmasters after sneaking out and seeing them train. They resisted less and less and once they got better, the Nail masters eventually trained with the kid and soon enough the kid got the name Kyne.

Kyne is pretty much an open book and whatever they are feeling, you will see it in their body language. Just like the Greenpath vessel, they didn't have restraint and had no filter. They had to be taught that and even then they are prone to being mean. Besides that, they have turned into a jovial kid.

Eventually, once Kyne was well and stable, the Nail masters moved to the hut in Greenpath. Once there they were able to reunite with their twin, the Greenpath vessel, who is now named Mothwing. Mothwing doesn't move in with the Nailmasters as they have found a parent of their own, but they both see each other every day.

The Pale King found Kyne when he visited the Nailmasters hut to inquire about training for The Pure Vessel(Who was revealed to be unpure at this point) and witnessed Kyne training with one of the nailmasters. The Pale King tried to convince Kyne to live back at the Place and tried to convince the Nailmasters to let him have Kyne. However none of them want that to happen, but Kyne does visit the Palace a few times to visit their older sibling.

i actually hesitated with posting this artwork, idk. I like it, yet i feel somehow weird about posting it.
