Old art BUT I??? I don't think I ever posted this guy (if I have woopsie!) But yeah! My old "Warriors" OC: The Great White Shark (or Shark... or white boy lol) - the main guy from my pirate/shark themed group.

He's the youngest of seven children to "The Megalodon" (or Captain Otodus): a matriarchal leader of a rogue group known as "The Divers."

His eldest sister is The Hammerhead Shark and they clash a LOT. But she has a stronger nerve than him and can usually kick him back down into his place lol. She's like an unofficial deputy and everyone knows it.

They live by the ocean of Shark Bay in Western Australia, although frequently travel in small groups out to sea in the makeshift boats they craft to gather materials and food.

They're a notoriously violent group, neighbouring the more private but expansive desert group inland known as the "Sand Runners." They clash often when the Sand Runners need supplies from the sea, or The Divers travel inland to escape flooding and storms. They sometimes meet to trade, but mostly try to avoid each other.

The Divers also know how to use celestial navigation, read the time, filter water, fish, swim and make tools! Also they tend to spit a LOT due to the salt water that builds up in their fur. Also goes without saying, but they're very devoted to the sharks of Shark Bay, and can even tell a lot of them apart from their appearances/personalities.

I have lots more to say but it'll never shut up otherwise so lol

The 2028 Formula 1 season kicks off on March 10th in Australia, and Doriane has never felt so much like a zoo animal. 

It was bad in testing—it was bad in F2, and F3, and F4, and F1 Academy, and WEC—but this is like nothing before. Everyone is fucking learing at her, constantly. Not so much the drivers—or, at least, not all of them. Ugo is a rookie along with her this year, and he’s had some time to get used to her, so have Alex (Powell), and Dino, to a certain extent, he’s lived with Maya so he knows how to act—but most of the male media personnel, some of the more… enthusiastic fans, and a lot of mechanics and other team members. The Audi people are great, pretty much universally (some of the mechanics on Logan’s side of the garage seem… uncomfortable, but Doriane isn’t working with them, so it’s fine). 

Their eyes are just… Constant, from the moment Doriance comes into view. Logan seems to be trying to distract her from the fact everyone is always looking, trying at every turn to catch her attention, though not in a way that makes her think of anything more than a little kid who can tell something’s wrong, whose only course of action is distraction. 

It’s working, a little bit. At the very least, Doriane appreciates the effort. It’s kind. 

Media day is the worst of the weekend, though. When Doriane can get in the car, when she can drown everything out in the roaring of engines—F2 is here, and F3, so the sounds of the cars are pretty constant, and always soothing. Doriane has always loved the sound of this sport, the smell of it, the feeling it gave the air. 

The car is… Fine. Doriane has had better cars, and certainly she has had worse cars, done good things in worse cars. They won’t be looking for podiums, not on normal weekends, but points should be coming consistently. It will be okay. 

Doriane knows, with this chance, Abbi would be able to do so much more than Doriane knows she will achieve. With this chance, she could have already done it so much better. So much more in the way of progress, so much for the rest of non-men in motorsports. Doriane is an activist because she has to be, a historian because she has to be, a symbol because she has to be. Abbi was made for these roles, made to be the figurehead of this community. 

They want Doriane’s body, but they need Abbi’s mind. Where Doriane does her job as a woman in this world with a sense of duty, learns the past so well she dreams in black and white and the faded yellow of Lella Lombardi’s car with an air of necessity, and crafts herself to a picture of perseverance like a soldier going to war, Abbi enjoys these tasks. Enjoys the process of creating a god, creating the ideal of divinity needed to survive. She likes to learn the history, loves to fight people about women’s place in this high tower, and enjoys every second of promised godhood, every tiny drop of ambrosia that the world supplies her. 

Abbi would thrive in this environment for all the reasons Doriane loves her—she is loud and happy and bubbling and relentlessly joyful, in the face of everything. (Lately, that shine had been wearing, at least in private, but.) Abbi was sunshine, she was light, and she lived for the roar of the crowd the way Doriane lived for the roar of the engine.

Described as a ‘Virtuoso of the potter’s wheel’ by Peter Timms, Art Critic for the Melbourne Age John Stroomer is a master potter who is internationally recognized for his work with Crystalline Glazes. His forms are classical, balanced, simple, full bodied and reflect his mastery of both the potter’s wheel and crystalline process.

“I have been making for almost 50 years, employing 23 potters during the 80s/90s supplying wheel thrown domestic stoneware to major retailers, direct selling companies and homeware stores Australia-wide.

The recession of 1981, a devastating factory fire in 1988 followed by the 1990 recession and subsequent fluctuating market forces eventually led to a change in personal philosophy/direction. They were all pivotal in leading me to where and who I am today.

The exacting nature, temperature control, balance and understanding of materials and glaze technologies demanded by the Crystaline process reflect John’s mastery of his craft over many years. Each pot is fired at over 1,300 Degrees Celsius for at least 18 hours. Once peak temperature has been reached, the kiln is rapidly cooled to pre-determined temperatures, at which point the crystals begin to be formed. As crystal formation requires slow cooling, the temperature is held and slowly reduced/managed with a crystal growth period of an additional six hours.

Crystals can take on a myriad of shapes and are three dimensional in nature. In direct sunlight or strong light, spectacular effects can be created by the refraction of light bouncing off the crystals, giving each pot a true three dimensional appearance.

Metallic oxides and combinations of various materials are used to produce a wide range of colours, ranging from dark browns, to cobalt blues and coral greens, amongst many others.

The end result are a range of pots that are exquisite.

Tuesday 17th December 2024

Our first night in the 19th bed since we left England was comfortable despite the quartet. Navigating an unfamiliar dark route to the bathroom at night, that an architect has unkindly or thoughtlessly factored a disguised step into, is now a skill which has also now been practised 19 times. It is something we take in our own stride and are accomplished at. It was most pleasing to sit for our first breakfast on our deck, watching the good people of 1770 go about their work and leisure on the waters in front of us. Small craft being prepared for fishing expeditions, larger boats heading out into deeper oceans, the waves lapping along the reappearing sandbanks that spread across the bay and around which Captain Cook would've had to navigate the bark Endeavour. All the while, a myriad of unrecognised brightly coloured birds chirping unseen in the lush banks of trees. Coconuts grow on a palm tree, which casts shade in our garden. This is indeed another touch of paradise and a total anathema why people might dismiss Australia in preference to New Zealand. It is such a vast land of both variety and diversity. Just yesterday, on our way south from Rockhampton on the Bruce Highway, and travelling alongside the railway line, seeing one kilometre long trains ploughing along hauling coal hewn from the mines in Blackwater on route to the ports, exporting 200 million tons each year from Queensland alone, mainly to the eastern Asia markets. It's just one of Australia's huge resources supplying the world outside its shores. Polluting resources in this case, obviously!

Then the rains set in, earlier than forecast, not in nice little showers, but torrents of the stuff, with an urgency usually reserved for times of extreme need. We personally do not need this. Nevertheless, the British did not build an empire without getting wet, we set off for the library to enjoy their free WiFi since our hosts, despite the huge fee paid do not feel it within their remit to provide some. The WiFi was indeed free, as was the opinion of the rather fierce librarian who declared in perhaps a voice too loud, and hence inappropriate for such a hushed environ, that the establishment was about to close. Well, it is Tuesday! The girl in the adjacent Tourist Information centre then became nervous in case she was supposed to close as well, advised that despite the distinct risk of further precipitation, we could go for a walk across the carpark, through the woods, to the Discovery Trail Lookout point. Should the excitement not be sufficient in that we were advised to travel back to 1770 and the Captain Cook monument within the Joseph Banks conservation park. We first walked to the lookout and did, indeed, lookout. Then, to the IGA for a few necessary supplies, including excellent sausage rolls x 2, lunch, and then off for the supplementary excitement at the Cook Monument. This monument marked the spot above the point on the beach the great man came ashore. A crew member then shot a bustard weighing 17 1/2 pounds, which they cooked for the officers of Endeavour who remarked it was the tastiest meat they'd had in a long while. Possibly the only meat they'd had in a long while. They then named the place Bustard Bay; a fitting name by all accounts. Clearly, bustard didn't catch on as a local favourite because we then went to get fish & chips from the Rusty Pelican, and bustard definitely wasn't available. We sat on our deck balcony eating our meal, the sun setting across the sea, and the kookaburras and frogs serenaded us before they carried themselves off to bed. It was such a thrill to sit here as it became dark, the glow of our tee lights lit our surrounding area, the pin pricks of light from the boats in Bustard Bay punching holes in the darkness and the thought that if the clocks could be wound back 254 years, we would have seen directly in front of us, below the constellation of the Southern Cross, Captain Cook RN sail serenely into the bay and to change history forever.

NaClYoHo day 7 is...mostly complete. We're gonna call it complete. It's my day off and a lot of things got crossed off the to-do list.

Today (Nov. 7) I:

-Packed up and shipped one of the two packages I owe to people. The other one I don't have an address for yet so it has to wait a bit longer. Also I've never sent a package to Australia before and neither had the post office guy so it took forever. And good god was it expensive. But it will be worth it when it gets there.

-Took a bunch of stuff to Goodwill. Clothes, unused craft supplies, decorative items. A floor fan that's sat unused for two summers. Floor feels much bigger now.

-Picked up the shoe and pantry organizers I ordered last week. They're not up yet but I have them.

-Found a place to recycle old ink cartridges and took them there. They add up fast when you print books at home.

-Bought a shredder. It's still in the box but I have it. Now I can dispose of my own stuff instead of taking it to my parents' place.

-Did the grocery shopping. Wasn't on the list but needed to be done, and I'm out of town tomorrow so it had to be today.

I might still hang a couple of pictures, and I have another text block that needs its cover made, but it was a very productive day already. I'm satisfied even if I don't do anything else today.

-Pantry organizer: assembled, filled with bottles of Torani syrup

-Book cover: begun, being squished flat while the glue dries

I am unstoppable.

-Packed up the books that I cleared out last week, and broke down the old worn-out box they were in. I'll be selling the books to the used book store for store credit tomorrow.

If I may voice something that has frustrated me immensely over the past year.

I got into ROTTMNT shortly after the release of the movie, and wanted to watch all of it legally so I could financially back the show.

I live in Australia.

Over here only the movie is available on Netflix.

And Paramount+ only has season 1.

I tried my best, I really did, to pay for and consume the whole thing legally, but alas I was unable to obtain season 2 (although I have since watched it)

Now this is a normal problem with regional licensing restrictions right? Like this issue is not unique to either Australia as a country or Rise as a cartoon.

Why I'm salty, is because i have LITERALLY walked passed Flying Bark Studio headquaters MULTIPLE TIMES when just out to get craft supplies, and the irony of that really chafes me.

Hi, we're Tsuru!

We're a band of high school dumbasses from Adelaide, South Australia and we like queer retellings of folklore!

Our members are:

The Weaver/Storyteller (she/her)

Once a spirit of music and storytelling, the Weaver, or the Storyteller was cast out and left almost powerless after she toyed with the outcomes of stories one too many times. After some time, she gave up on attempting to regain her power and simply continued her craft as best as she could in her new form, eventually forming the band Tsuru.

Description: While she mostly appears to be just an ordinary human, while performing, enough of her power comes back for her to temporarily regain her wings, though they once again vanish when the performance is over. The feathers are every shade from pale purple to dark blue. She mostly plays keyboard, but will sometimes play the guitar if needed, or flute during someone else’s song, and is one of the main vocalists of the band, as she can sing anywhere from tenor to soprano range. She often wears gloves to hide the inkstains on her hands.

The Harmacist (any/all) (@sentientshitpost69),

They were an outcast to society due to their abnormal height and inhuman regeneration, they found their way in helping people using the natural resources of the forests and the nature around them using Phytokinesis. They were eventually enslaved by The System Of Thorned Shields where they were instantly recognised as helpful due to people recognising them from when they helped them previously. They ultimately found their friends when discovering a group of foreign people who accepted him for who he is, they then formed the group of Tsuru.

Description: A tall lanky person who measures to be 178cm tall and wears a ragged white lab coat with a hooded jacket underneath, along with cargo pants for all of the medical supplies that they need & wears a set of masks to hide who they are but when they take them off it reveals a set of sharp animal like teeth without any lips to conceal them along with boots to trek through the rough terrain that they inhabit. A deep and gravelly voice easily turns to a harmonic opera by just the will of them. Usually plays either the bass guitar or classical guitar. They generally like to listen to rock, metal, alt and electronic music and play a lot of video games, ranging from tower defence games, RPGs, sandbox games, to metroidvanias, rogue likes and fighting games. They are also very smart despite their ragged appearance considering that they are a doctor and they have managed to create weapons from mere grass and sticks.

Miki (she/they) (Peony/@sauleline),

Miki was born kinda fucked up, at least as a human, she was born with both cat ears and a tail, and was considered a medical anomaly. Although it’s not normal, she doesn’t really care what shits people give about her, and normally just flips off haters. They were unemployed for a while, and found a poster reaching out for members of Tsuru, and they applied, played a slightly technical rock beat. 

Description: A 5’9ish girl, with a purple undercut, with cat ears and a tail. Normally wears a bomber jacket with a crop top underneath, and jeans, which are cuffed. They also wear either Bright red cons, or Purple cons. She normally goes onto stage with a can of monster. They play the drums, quite aggressively, if/when I (peony irl) get a manual drum kit, there’s a big antifascist A on it, and an inverted pentagram, and a “Holy Fucking Bingle”.

TSW is the story of a selkie, Mara, who has their pelt taken from them and has to figure out a way to escape, with the help of some friends along the way, while TSOTS is the backstory of The Harmacist and a future antagonist.
