Old art BUT I??? I don't think I ever posted this guy (if I have woopsie!) But yeah! My old "Warriors" OC: The Great White Shark (or Shark... or white boy lol) - the main guy from my pirate/shark themed group.
More info under cut:
He's the youngest of seven children to "The Megalodon" (or Captain Otodus): a matriarchal leader of a rogue group known as "The Divers."
His eldest sister is The Hammerhead Shark and they clash a LOT. But she has a stronger nerve than him and can usually kick him back down into his place lol. She's like an unofficial deputy and everyone knows it.
They live by the ocean of Shark Bay in Western Australia, although frequently travel in small groups out to sea in the makeshift boats they craft to gather materials and food.
They're a notoriously violent group, neighbouring the more private but expansive desert group inland known as the "Sand Runners." They clash often when the Sand Runners need supplies from the sea, or The Divers travel inland to escape flooding and storms. They sometimes meet to trade, but mostly try to avoid each other.
The Divers also know how to use celestial navigation, read the time, filter water, fish, swim and make tools! Also they tend to spit a LOT due to the salt water that builds up in their fur. Also goes without saying, but they're very devoted to the sharks of Shark Bay, and can even tell a lot of them apart from their appearances/personalities.
I have lots more to say but it'll never shut up otherwise so lol

Described as a ‘Virtuoso of the potter’s wheel’ by Peter Timms, Art Critic for the Melbourne Age John Stroomer is a master potter who is internationally recognized for his work with Crystalline Glazes. His forms are classical, balanced, simple, full bodied and reflect his mastery of both the potter’s wheel and crystalline process.
“I have been making for almost 50 years, employing 23 potters during the 80s/90s supplying wheel thrown domestic stoneware to major retailers, direct selling companies and homeware stores Australia-wide.
The recession of 1981, a devastating factory fire in 1988 followed by the 1990 recession and subsequent fluctuating market forces eventually led to a change in personal philosophy/direction. They were all pivotal in leading me to where and who I am today.
The exacting nature, temperature control, balance and understanding of materials and glaze technologies demanded by the Crystaline process reflect John’s mastery of his craft over many years. Each pot is fired at over 1,300 Degrees Celsius for at least 18 hours. Once peak temperature has been reached, the kiln is rapidly cooled to pre-determined temperatures, at which point the crystals begin to be formed. As crystal formation requires slow cooling, the temperature is held and slowly reduced/managed with a crystal growth period of an additional six hours.
Crystals can take on a myriad of shapes and are three dimensional in nature. In direct sunlight or strong light, spectacular effects can be created by the refraction of light bouncing off the crystals, giving each pot a true three dimensional appearance.
Metallic oxides and combinations of various materials are used to produce a wide range of colours, ranging from dark browns, to cobalt blues and coral greens, amongst many others.
The end result are a range of pots that are exquisite.

NaClYoHo day 7 is...mostly complete. We're gonna call it complete. It's my day off and a lot of things got crossed off the to-do list.
Today (Nov. 7) I:
-Packed up and shipped one of the two packages I owe to people. The other one I don't have an address for yet so it has to wait a bit longer. Also I've never sent a package to Australia before and neither had the post office guy so it took forever. And good god was it expensive. But it will be worth it when it gets there.
-Took a bunch of stuff to Goodwill. Clothes, unused craft supplies, decorative items. A floor fan that's sat unused for two summers. Floor feels much bigger now.
-Picked up the shoe and pantry organizers I ordered last week. They're not up yet but I have them.
-Found a place to recycle old ink cartridges and took them there. They add up fast when you print books at home.
-Bought a shredder. It's still in the box but I have it. Now I can dispose of my own stuff instead of taking it to my parents' place.
-Did the grocery shopping. Wasn't on the list but needed to be done, and I'm out of town tomorrow so it had to be today.
I might still hang a couple of pictures, and I have another text block that needs its cover made, but it was a very productive day already. I'm satisfied even if I don't do anything else today.
Edit:
-Shoe racks: hung, filled with shoes
-Pantry organizer: assembled, filled with bottles of Torani syrup
-Pictures(3): hung, filling room with joy
-Book cover: begun, being squished flat while the glue dries
I am unstoppable.
Edit 2:
-Packed up the books that I cleared out last week, and broke down the old worn-out box they were in. I'll be selling the books to the used book store for store credit tomorrow.
I am winning this game.

Phebe and Michael live in this fun sharehouse rental in Australia. According to the current lease agreement, it’s been an on-going sharehouse since 2012, with people coming and going throughout the years. Phebe has lived there 6 yrs., and Michael, 1 yr.
This sounds like a great idea. Phebe was excited when she was accepted to move in because of the size of it and the location.
Phebe’s style is color-forward eclectic maximalism or ‘is this a craft store or a bedroom?’
Michael’s style is a natural accumulation of found objects, DIY, and repurposed/recycled materials.
Both artists, they created a cohesive home full of color, art, and craft supplies.
They both love the size of the home and the tall ceilings, the wooden floorboards, the weird concrete backyard, and the stained glass in the windows of the two front rooms.
Phebe’s bedroom was originally designed to be the living room as it has French doors where her clothes racks are but she believes it’s been used as a bedroom since it’s been a sharehouse.
Phebe has a lot of storage for art and craft supplies in her room.
Their biggest challenge is dust, b/c the house is on a main road.
Michael prefers to buy art, not things that need to be stored and then there is no need for ‘storage.’ Store things on your walls, it’s better for you.’ he says.
Michael is not a fan of “new” things. He likes a bit of wear and tear, so he recycles as much as possible.

How to Choose the Best Art and Craft Supplies in Australia for Your Next DIY Project
Whether you're starting a new DIY project or restocking your crafting space, choosing the right art and craft supplies is crucial for achieving the best results. With so many options available across Australia, it can be a bit overwhelming to find the perfect materials for your creative needs. In this guide, we'll help you navigate the process and make informed decisions that will elevate your crafting experience.
1. Understand Your Project Needs
The first step in selecting the right art and craft supplies knows exactly what your project requires. Different types of crafts need specific tools and materials, so understanding the scope of your project will help guide your choices. For instance:
• Painting: You’ll need high-quality paints, brushes, and canvases.
• Sewing: Fabrics, needles, and threads are essential, along with accessories like zippers or buttons.
• Papercraft: For scrapbooking or card-making, you’ll need paper, scissors, glue, and embellishments.
• Jewellery Making: Beads, wires, pliers, and clasps are the basics.
Each craft comes with its own set of essentials, and knowing your project needs will help you focus on the right materials.
2. Focus on Quality
When it comes to crafting, quality matters. Using premium materials can make a significant difference in the outcome and longevity of your projects. Cheap supplies might be tempting but could result in faded colours, weak structures, or early wear and tear.
Here are a few areas where quality really counts:
• Paints: High-quality paints, like those from Matisse or Derivan, offer rich pigmentation, ensuring vibrant colours that last longer without fading.
• Tools: Invest in durable brushes, cutting tools, or knitting needles. Well-made tools will last longer and provide more precise results.
• Fabrics: For sewing or fabric crafts, choose sturdy, high-quality fabrics that won’t fray or wear down after a few washes.
Shopping for quality supplies will not only improve your crafting experience but also save you money in the long run as your projects will last longer.
3. Shop Local or Online
Australia has a wide range of art and craft stores offering everything from basic supplies to specialty items. Some popular places to explore include:
• Eckersley’s: Known for professional-grade art supplies, including paints, canvases, and brushes, Eckersley’s is a great spot for serious artists.
• Craftworkz: With a large selection of craft supplies, from beads to air drying clay and glitter, Craftworkz caters to all types of crafters.
• Spotlight and Lincraft: These well-known stores offer an extensive range of fabrics, craft kits, and materials for sewing, knitting, and home décor projects.
By shopping at these trusted stores, either online or in person, you can be confident you're getting high-quality supplies for your next project.
4. Look for Eco-Friendly Options
If sustainability is important to you, there are plenty of eco-friendly art and craft supplies available in Australia. Many brands now offer products made from recycled materials or natural, non-toxic ingredients.
Consider the following when shopping for eco-friendly supplies:
• Recycled materials: Opt for recycled paper, fabrics, or even wood for your crafting projects.
• Non-toxic products: Choose paints, glues, and dyes that are free from harmful chemicals, making them safer for both you and the environment.
• Reusable tools: Invest in long-lasting tools that reduce the need for disposable or single-use items.
Stores like D & L Craftworkz offer eco-friendly craft supplies, giving you sustainable choices without compromising on quality.
5. Set a Budget
Crafting can range from a low-cost hobby to a more significant investment, depending on the complexity of your projects. When selecting your supplies, it's important to strike a balance between quality and cost.
Here are a few tips for staying within budget:
• Start small: If you're just beginning, start with basic supplies and upgrade as you gain more experience.
• Shop for sales: Keep an eye out for sales and discounts at major craft stores, especially during holiday seasons or end-of-year clearance events.
• Reuse materials: Where possible, repurpose items from previous projects or everyday materials like jars, cardboard, or fabric scraps.
6. Read Reviews and Get Inspired
Before making a purchase, check out reviews from other crafters to ensure the product meets your needs. Australian crafting communities, whether on Instagram, Pinterest, or YouTube, are full of advice, tips, and product recommendations that can guide your choices.
You’ll find plenty of DIY blogs and online tutorials that not only provide inspiration but also suggest the best supplies for various types of projects. Following these recommendations can help you avoid subpar materials and make your projects even more enjoyable.
7. Stock Up on the Basics
No matter what kind of craft you’re working on, some basic supplies are always handy to have on hand. Stock up on essentials like:
• Scissors and cutting tools: A good pair of sharp scissors or a rotary cutter is a must for most projects.
• Glue and adhesives: Whether its craft glue, hot glue, or spray adhesive, having the right type of glue for your project is essential.
• Storage solutions: Keeping your supplies organised can make a big difference in your workflow. Invest in storage boxes, shelves, or jars to keep everything tidy.
Conclusion
Choosing the best art and craft supplies in Australia doesn't have to be overwhelming. By considering the type of project, focusing on quality, shopping at trusted stores, and keeping an eye on your budget, you'll be well-equipped to create beautiful, lasting projects. Don't forget to explore eco-friendly options and gather inspiration from fellow crafters to make the most of your creative journey.

on june [ XX ], 2023, United Skies Airlines Flight 309 disappeared on a routine trip from Australia to the United States. it's been days since what's presumably a crash. both countries have sent out their best to try and locate the air craft with no luck. it couldn't have disappeared into thin air, could it?
▄ ▄ ▄ ▄▄▄ ▄▄▄ ▄▄▄ ▄ ▄ ▄
You wake up in the middle of absolute chaos. Maybe you're missing a body part or just a gallon of blood. The wreckage is on flames and there are people trying to salvage what they can before the rest of the plane blows up. You don't remember anything except the turbulence and the plane going sideways. Now, it's just the rear end of the air craft, your fellow passengers, and whatever supplies you can find from the debris.
once the fire goes out.
think palm trees and jungles; not a winter in sight. eternal vacation? or a slow death? a few survivor's have already nicknamed the place the United Underworld.
how to play: msg me to join the discord server.
tldr; lost without the weird stuff (watch the first episode if you want the vibes). we start from the beginning and I drop events to progress the story as we go along. everyone CAN DIE. if you’re inactive, we will eat you. that is all.

If I may voice something that has frustrated me immensely over the past year.
I got into ROTTMNT shortly after the release of the movie, and wanted to watch all of it legally so I could financially back the show.
I live in Australia.
Over here only the movie is available on Netflix.
And Paramount+ only has season 1.
I tried my best, I really did, to pay for and consume the whole thing legally, but alas I was unable to obtain season 2 (although I have since watched it)
Now this is a normal problem with regional licensing restrictions right? Like this issue is not unique to either Australia as a country or Rise as a cartoon.
Why I'm salty, is because i have LITERALLY walked passed Flying Bark Studio headquaters MULTIPLE TIMES when just out to get craft supplies, and the irony of that really chafes me.
This is in the credits of season 2, and yet I can't watch it here. Wild.

hello, i’m Final Frontier Publishing, a parody publishing house / bindery involved in fannish bookbinding. i’m an amateur fanbinder who picked up bookbinding in July 2022 and largely bind fanfiction. i’m also a member of Renegade Publishing, a collective of binders that bind fanworks! i am mostly active here on tumblr. If you’re interested to see what projects i’ve done, you can refer to the ‘my books’ tab or click here.
my interests are varied and as such, the fandoms i bind in are diverse depending on what is my jam at the moment. i also have an interest in binding queer fandoms and fics which may not be as frequently seen in the bookbinding fandom sphere. i handbind fanworks mostly for myself and the body of work’s author, and sometimes for fandom friends.
tumblr main: @charlietinpants, AO3: charlietinpants
Thoughts on commissions:
i’m very grateful that people like my bindings and it’s such a compliment for me that people would like to commission my work. however, I currently do not take fanbinding commissions, and am unlikely to do so in the future. This is as (i) i work a full time hectic job and my time to bind is limited and (ii) i’m very much an amateur at work, and wouldn’t want to attach a monetary value to my projects, and (iii) i firmly believe in Renegade Publishing’s ethos of gift economy. as such, i bind author copies as a way of giving back, as and when time permits.
Thoughts on author copies:
If i've bound your work and you'd like an author copy, and won't mind that it might take me many months to get it to you depending on how long my to-bind list is, feel free to reach out to me. I hand-bind all my books from scratch and may not be able to make you an exact copy (depending on available supplies), but I will try my best to make you something I am proud of and hopefully something you will love. All author copies are gifts, and I do not expect any form of payment, inclusive of shipping, from the author.
Thoughts on learning to fanbind:
if you’re interested in learning how to fanbind - join us at @renegadepublishing. we’re a great community of fanbinders who hang out on discord with different experience levels and everyone is very nice and extremely helpful. there are also free guides and lots of useful resources! i will be the first to admit that as a self-professed bad-at-art-and-craft person, i was very daunted at first while learning to bind, but i can promise you it’s less difficult (and less expensive) than you think!
Thoughts on learning to fanbind in Asia:
Learning how to bookbind in Asia is hard and case in point, I learnt largely through online tutorials and a brief course before my bookbinding teacher immigrated to Australia :sob:. I’m one of the mods of the Renegade satellite server for Asia, so if you’re a fanbinder located in Asia, please feel free to hit me up and commiserate about the difficulty in sourcing for supplies/classes/bookbinding/postage and shipping woes in general.
UPDATES (as of May 2024)
i am currently in the process of a move and my housing situation with regards to bookbinding is tenuous at best. in view of this, my bookbinding pace for 2024 has slowed dramatically to an expected 2-3 books this year until the move is sorted in end 2024. I apologize very much for all the delayed books but as I still wish to preserve the quality of the books i make, i would thank you for your kind patience in waiting for the book to be completed.
my ask box is always open, i do reply PMs and i love to chat about bookbinding! :)
#received a few asks about commissions so i decided to do an intro post!#welcome to my little nook of bookbinding!#intro post#fanbinding#finalfrontierpublishing#final frontier publishing
