Early this year, my husband's work sent him to get his CPR recertification. Somehow, some lines got crossed and he ended up there on the day that they were certifying CPR trainers, instead. Since he was there anyway, he just went ahead and took the course.
When his work found out he was now certified to teach CPR, they had him set up classes for the people in his workstation; and when other workstations found out he could teach their people, they called him in, as well.
Today he came home and told me that one of the people he taught had used that training on his own daughter, who had cardiac problems and whose heart had given out. He had managed to keep her going until emergency services arrived, and she pulled through.
It's funny to think how a mistake in scheduling had kicked off a sequence of events that ended up saving someone's life.

wild to me that it takes hours for people in the usa to vote. it's never taken me more than 10 minutes and that's including the inevitable chit chat with the people there because they're either my parents' neighbours or the parents of people i went to school with.
#literally have your voting card and some kind of id ready#if you don't have your voting car then you just have to look up what desk you're supposed to go to usually it's split alphabetically so#for albonium it would be desk 1#get there give id (either my id my passport my social security card my driving license or a hunting permit (💀))))))))#pick up the little papers and an envelop#get in the booth#put the little paper in the envelop#that's if you haven't done it at home already#get out#put it in the box#the person there says “ HAS VOTED”#you sign next to your name#take your id#and fuck off#before your cousin's neighbours' grandma asks how your aunt is doing and if you've heard about the bakery being closed because the baker's#wife cheated on him and now he's got to take care of the kids and aetstdfhgfsgjgthj#you get what i mean#10 minutes tops#even in big cities#also it's always by paper like this if you want you can vote for someone else but you have to file papers at the police station#people empty the boxes and count them all together#if you want you're allowed to stay and watch as they count#or you can ask beforehand to participate in the counting#kids are automatically signed up on the voting lists when they turn 18 if they've done their mandatory 'defense and citizenship" day#ok this one is kind of propaganda-y for the army the cops etc but at the same time it allows to test the entire population to see if they'r#illeterate (there's grammar spelling etc tests)#do some driving rules lessons#cpr training#reminder about blood donations etc#which imo is important

Important Life Side quests!
(No particular order)
1. Seizure/Epilepsy Training! (For free) By the Epilepsy Foundation it is an online module based program takes about 60-75 minutes but you will have three weeks to complete it. It will give you a Certification at the end after completing. Why this? It's important to know and quite interesting! Being seizure/epilepsy training certified also looks great on resumes and applications!
2. Food handlers card. Needed for any restaurant or fast food related job, and also generally helpful for at home cooking practices. Found efoodcard.com with a ~$7.99 fee. Online module based course regarding food safety practices. Is required for food related jobs and looks good on resumes and applications. When the course is complete you will have the certificate and 2 food handlers cards (one for you one for employer copies).
3. (If in the US) Memorize your social security number. It's asked for on almost all the important documents, often including hiring packets from employers.
4. Build your resume. This is more complex but if y'all are interested I can post separately an example! Important notes, keep it limited to one page, use only Harvard approved adjectives
5. Build a basic cover letter. Same as number four, I can post separately an example if it's wanted. But it is so much easier to modify a CV than it is to make a new one from scratch.
6. CPR/AED/First Aid training! Definitely important to know no matter your situation. But it is required for various jobs, and looks good on resumes and applications! Found online at RedCross.org with a ~$37.99 fee, you will have a certificate and an expanded knowledge bank at the end of the course!
(edited addition!) 7. Getting a passport! Never know where you will find yourself in the future and in the US these take up to 6 months to process and get back to you.

How to Reactivate Heartbeat and Breath ? | Dr. Bharadwaz | Dr. RanjithKumar

true health information

About Video :
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) is a life-saving technique used in emergencies when someone's heartbeat or breathing has stopped. It involves chest compressions and rescue breaths to maintain circulation and oxygen flow to vital organs until professional help arrives. Key steps include checking responsiveness, calling emergency services, performing chest compressions at a rate of 100-120 per minute and a depth of 2 inches for adults, and using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) if available. Immediate CPR can double or triple survival chances.
Questions Addressed :
What are the key steps in performing CPR on an adult?
How does the technique for CPR differ between adults, children, and infants?
When should you perform hands-only CPR instead of traditional CPR with rescue breaths?
How do you check for responsiveness and breathing before starting CPR?
What is the recommended compression depth and rate for effective chest compressions?
How do you use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) during CPR?
What are the potential risks or complications associated with performing CPR?
