I want to picture Legion reading AND REVIEWING romance novels. I want him to end every review with a calculated percentage, like "We believe there is a 67% chance this couple will stay together after the events of this novel". Did he create an algorithm just for this? Yes, yes, he did.
And if Tali finds the reviews and ends up reading what he's recommending, that's just a nice bonus. Pretty sure he would recommend some pretty nice stuff.

I have been thinking about the show and you guys a lot more, not just because we're approaching the anniversary of the end but because...it seems like LA ties keep popping up everywhere!
I know I haven't been active, but I do like coming back to see you guys on my dash even if I have no idea what you're posting about because I'm not part of those fandoms. I've been debating on coming back more -- or going back to that LOL, Z blog I started just to make sure I keep writing and staying in touch. So, we'll see.
Work has been crazy, and I just took the first actual day(s) off in a good while. I had some rough losses near the end of last year, and then huge project after huge project has meant not just working without days off but also working on my days off. Finally actually took a couple days off and did nothing. And I actually got a good amount of writing done, so now I don't want to go back. (I find I actually do get going a lot quicker if I start by hand, but my joints cramp up soooo quickly. It's always been annoying. ANYWAY.)
What finally prompted this was I was watching last night's SNL, and NCIS:LA got a mention, despite being off the air. (There was a joke about character actors and appearing on arcs on shows with titles that are only letters. There were four spots, and LA was the fourth. IT IS STILL REMEMBERED! But holy crap, how about that Hawai'i turn? Wow. Anyway.)
In the past year, small things have made me think about LA:
-Waking up to an old episode from a syndicated outdoors show (I sleep with the TV on, don't judge me) that featured Gerald McRaney talking about his acting career -- filmed years ago -- and doing outdoors stuff -Spotting Medalion in a small spot on New Girl -Being addicted to Disney Dreamlight Valley when I was redirecting my impulse shopping addiction into cozy gaming (that was basically ADHD-crack because of all the tasks you just have to complete!). How is this relevant? Because the only fish I could seem to catch most of the time? COD! -Todd popping up in new commercials all the time -Getting into Elsbeth and watching CBS shows on Paramount and hearing the little logo music after or before a show and remembering watching LA on the platform a lot towards the end
And I know there are many more, but age + too may back-to-back storms and natural disasters have made my memory even wonkier. (We currently have a joke about our "weekly tornadoes" here. It's funny because it's not completely a joke. Lololol.)
Anyway, I won't lie to say there wasn't some freedom and relief that came with the show's ending. But there are definitely parts of it I miss like you guys.

🦇 The Pumpkin Spice Cafe Book Review 🦇
❓ #QOTD What's your go-to autumn beverage & sweet treat? 🦇 When Jeanie's aunt gifts her the beloved Pumpkin Spice Café in the small town of Dream Harbor, Jeanie jumps at the chance for a fresh start away from her very dull desk job. There, she meets Logan, a local farmer who avoids Dream Harbor's gossip at all costs. When Jeanie's arrival disrupts Logan's routine, he wants nothing to do with the irritatingly upbeat new girl, except that he finds himself inexplicably drawn to her. Meanwhile, accidents keep happening at the cafe. Can Logan help Jeanie uncover the culprit, all while trying not to get too close?
💜 I've heard multiple people refer to this as an AI's combined version of Hallmark films and Gilmore Girls. Honestly, I can't think of a more succinct explanation than that. While the story starts with cute, cozy potential, it quickly unravels into a repetitive mess. The prose fails to spark all five senses (the main setting is a cafe AND it's fall, so that should have been easy), choosing to tell readers everything instead of inviting them to live in the story.
💙 The insta love doesn't leave much room for tension or romance, despite both characters claiming to have no interest in a relationship. While a slow, undeniable burn would have suited the MCs better, the story quickly becomes led by smut and that good old miscommunication trouble instead. Unfortunately, that leaves for unlikeable characters, an unnecessary third act breakup, and a mystery anyone could have solved if they just kept it in their pants.
🦇 Recommended for fans of Legends & Lattes, Hannah Grace, and Gilmore Girls.

Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees by Patrick Horvath
HOME IS WHERE THE HEART STOPS.
Delightful! Patrick Horvath's BENEATH TREES WHERE NOBODY SEES is a cozy, small-town murder mystery that's every bit as charming as it is chilling. This unassuming little graphic novel is an astute, highly effective study of small-town dynamics; an exploration of just how little we actually know about those we live our lives around and of the ugliness and desperation that show their face when fear rears its merciless head into our safe, comfortable little worlds.
The story isn't necessarily the most original we've seen, but the approach instills it with new life and a disarming sense of innocence and safety—and the artwork is just so damn adorable—making the overwhelmingly violent plot and viscerally gruesome atrocities throughout hit so much harder. I really loved this book.
9/10
-Timothy Patrick Boyer.

So, I'm proud/happy/terrified/insane to announce that at some point in the not-too-distant future, NineStar Press will be publishing my ~debut novel~, "Heart First". "Heart First" is a m/m romance novel entwined with a cozy mystery set in the heart of the Hudson Valley.
In it, Daniel Rosenbaum, professor and chronic overthinker, falls hard and fast for mechanic Tony D'Angelo. When tragedy strikes and a close friend and fellow professor of Daniel's is murdered, Daniel’s intensifying relationship with Tony is the only way he can find solace from his grief and confusion. But all too soon, the trail of a dead man’s secrets leads Daniel to the same place he’s been seeking comfort: Angel Automotive, the auto repair shop run by Tony’s family. Will following his heart lead Daniel straight into the arms of a killer?
As a little thank you to everyone who's followed me on here and given me courage to pursue writing, here's a little sneak peek of Daniel and Tony:
“Sorry, I’m Tony,” Tony says. “I should probably have led with that.”
Daniel grins. “Hi Tony,” he says. “I’m Daniel, and I’m having trouble with my car.”
“Well, you’re in luck,” Tony says. “I happen to be a mechanic.”
“Wow, what are the odds?”
Tony shrugs and gestures to the rows of different-size chains hanging on the wall. “You walk into a set-up like this, it’s an even split: mechanic or sex worker.”
It shocks a laugh out of Daniel. He gets the impression he does not need to worry about homophobia here if Tony’s using respectful language, which is kind of a relief.
“So what’s wrong with your car?”
Daniel winces. “It’s been making this weird noise all morning? Like a kind of irregular clunking?”
“All the time or just when you go over a bump?”
“Um.” Daniel considers. The roads are pretty shitty between Rhinebeck and Lobell College anyways. He didn’t hear it much on the better-paved way into Kingston, but he was also focused on finding the garage and wasn’t really paying attention.
“Your muffler might be loose,” Tony tells him.
“Okay,” Daniel says slowly. “And that’s…bad?”
Tony blinks. “Not a car guy, huh?”
“No,” Daniel says quickly. “Computers guy. Classic literature guy. Fourth season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer guy. Very much not a car guy.” A frown line draws tight on Tony’s forehead. “That’s a really bad season,” he says, which, okay, no one’s perfect.

Halloween/Fall Season TBR 2023
Tumblr media
Hi Everyone,
I wanted to write down my TBR for the fall/Halloween season and mention some of the new books that are coming out this year. These titles are the ones I read every year and I highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for a scary book to read (or really any murder mysteries, it feels like this is the prefect season to read Murder Mysteries).
~Books that are on my TBR~ : (Pretty much I recommend everything on this list)
Coraline by Neil Gailman
Halloween Tree by Ray Bardbury
Pumpkin Heads
Nancy Drew (This and the next few are perfect for the cozy weather)
Judy Bolton
Dana Sisters
Connie Blair
Hardy Boys
Scary Godmother
Edgar Allen Poe
The Invisible man
Nightmare Before Christmas Long Live the Pumpkin Queen
Bunnicula
Dracula by Bram Stoker
Frankenstein by Mary Shelly
Garlic and the Vampire
Garlic and the Witch
Halloween Party by Agatha Christie (first time I am going to read this)
Sherlock Holmes
Then there was none by Agatha Christie
Addams family
Goosebumps books
Mirror Lake By Juneau Black
The House of Lost Horizon Sarah Jewell mystery
Sleepy Hallow by Washington Irving
Harry Potter (I also read these around Xmas time too)
~OP Books I recommend~
The Shady Hallow mysteries. I love this series and it feels like you can read this series no matter what time of year but the big ones that I recommend from this series are Cold Clay & Mirror Lake.
I love Mirror Lake the most out of the series and the description of food and the autumn ambience is wonderful.
~Soon to release books (I hope)~ :
DeepHaven by Ethan M. Aldridge- I saw the artwork that this author has been posting and I thought it was gorgeous. I did some digging but did not really want to spoil it too much for myself. I am getting very Eldritch horror vibes from the artwork.
Unfamiliar vol 2 by Haley Newsome- I am in love with this series, it has magic it has witches it has food. What more could I ask for.
Twilight Falls by Juneau Black- This is one of my highly anticipated books that are coming out this year. I love the Shady Hollow Mysteries series, this come out after November, but I am still super hype for it.
Tim Burton’s Nightmare before Christmas the Battle for Pumpkin King by Dan Conner- I have been collecting anything really Nightmare for a few a years now and when I saw this I freaked, I can’t wait for it.
Bookshops & Bonedust by Travis Baldree- I loved Legends & Lattes and when I found it there was going to be a 2nd book, I was thrilled I can’t wait for it.
Catch me If you Candy by Ellie Alexander- Recently I have been wanting to get more cozy mysteries and this series is like one of the biggest series I have seen. I am hoping to start collecting the series soon.
~New Books~ :
Most of these books are going to be Cozy Mysteries. I love Mysteries and Cozy Mysteries are right in my alley. First of all, I will not spoil mysteries for anyone if I can help it, so I will keep description vague. Most of these books are new to me and I am keeping myself blind incept for like the over storyline. (These are not new releases they are just new to me)
Fatal Fudge Swirl by Meri Allen- this is the third book in the Ice Cream Shop Mysteries books, I am trying to collect the others and read them in order. So, this mystery takes place around Halloween and there is a wedding, and tragedy strikes at the wedding.
Murder at the Pumpkin Pageant by Darci Hannah- this is another cozy that takes place around time Halloween time. Halloween time is here, and our MC Lindsey is not really jazzed about it, because she lives in the town spooky haunted lighthouse, so teenagers make it a test of courage to come up and scare each other silly.  However, this year her best friend asked to do a spooky episode for her social media what was supposed to be a night of ghost hunting and fun scares turns sinister.
One Poison Pie by Lynn Cahoon- Now this one doesn’t take place on around Halloween (as far from what I know I haven’t not read this book yet, so I fix this later if I am wrong) but it’s having to do with witches and what’s better she is an amateur detective kitchen witch. Mia is our main character and right now she has hit a rough patch in her life when boyfriend has left her greener pastures and she is now jobless. So, she heads back home to her grandma’s house. It’s the first book in this series so I don’t know too much about it.
A Batter of Life and Death by Ellie Alexander- the only thing I know is that this book takes place in fall and I just starting to get into the Bakeshop Mystery series. So, I am keeping my self-blind and I can’t wait to read it.
No Parm No Foul by Linda Reilly- this is the second book in the grilled cheese shop mystery, and it takes place around Halloween. I read the first book and I like it, so I want to try to get the second to see how it is.

Hiiii I saw you pop up in my notifs today and it reminded me to let you know that this is your prompt from a while back, like 2021 I think? so, umm, thank youuu for inspiring my biggest writing undertaking to date. 🙏🫶
And I just saw your post abt getting back in the groove, and omggg I’ll be that person who says I just want more of your words pls!! Short, long, I’m excited to read anything!
And I guess I’ll say having a buddy to chat through ideas with who’s then waiting to read the thing even if it’s half done and not ready for ao3 yet is my secret weapon, and in terms of routine, I always try to look back at what times/days/routines have worked in the past, which ofc isn’t always possible, esp with kids, but I’m rooting for you!!
OMG!! I was wondering if that was the fic we'd chatted about back then!! I do remember our conversations about it!! I am excited to dig in.
Thank you thank you thank you for the encouragement!! I just feel so overwhelmed and heartwarmed by the friends (who are writers I respect, to boot!) who have reached out in response to my plea for help getting back in the groove.
If I can get some words on the page this weekend... I may be on the market for a buddy very, very soon!!
