@loxare replied to your post “I keep telling myself "ok, storage space is...”:
How are you able to tell what the fabric is? My thrift store doesn't label the fibre content, and I don't think they'd be happy if I started setting loose threads on fire. Is it a feel thing? Is it just experience and knowing how the fabric feels on the fingers?
Yeah, I rub the fabric between my fingers and guess based on how it feels, and sometimes I'm wrong. It's hard to tell with some wool blends just how much is wool and how much isn't, and sometimes a poly/cotton blend tricks me, but you get better at it with practice. I also sometimes pull on a few loose threads to see how easily they break, because a wool or cotton thread snaps a lot more easily than polyester. I do burn tests on everything when I get home.
With thrift store prices it's usually worth the gamble, and I guess correctly most of the time. (It helps that I've been sewing since 2011 and my mother is a textiles teacher and I've taken the 2 year college course she teaches part of, so I've touched a lot of fibres.)
Most of what I get there is the mystery cuts of fabric, but at least the bedsheets have labels!

whatever it turns out there are actually no weighted blankets in the world that are queen sized and breathable and 10-15lbs and also the one i bought has inner pockets that are too big? so the beads hang to one side. and it does cost to return it after all if you read the fine print? so i think im going to. A. hand quilt smaller pockets of the filling so the weight distributes evenly for real. and or B. carefully chop it down and rebind it to make it smaller and lighter. or sew some strips of the pockets to another blanket. or. C. i could destitch the whole thing and redo the pockets and glass bead distribution to be less weight 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗 <- guy who is insane enough to do that

I keep seeing ads claiming viscose is this uniquely cooling and breathable wonder-fabric and its making me a bit crazy like i know ads lie i know this and yet this feels like the worlds longest unfunniest prank
Like sure i guess that viscose-elastane pajama shirt would be cooler to sleep in than a fully synthetic material but thats not exactly the claim being made
And never any mention of the other qualities of the fabric like sometimes they mention weight but never what kind of weave/knit and so on
I think it bothers me more than other marketing bullshit because i actually do run very hot and also sensory issues so im hyper aware of the feel and breathability of fabrics

WHO... IS BUYING NEW CLOTHES.... MORE THAN ONCE A YEAR....... WHO ??????
#like. this is entirly a conceot introduced to me by my roommate. my mother got maybe a single new dress or top a month#fashion and thus fast fashion makes no sense to me. i am going to buy a piece of clothing and then i am going to wear it until it is#physically indecent for me to wear in public and then i am going to mend the crotch (generally) and keep wearing it casually or as pajamas.#people who can afford to and do buy clothes more often than once or twice a year arem bizarre to me.#why. why do you need to do that. if you have clothes that fit and cover your body in a way that you are comfortable with. why...#okay okay actually i buy socks maybe 5 times a year because i LOSE THEM SO FAST ITS INSANE I FEEL DERANGED#any way. im watching a video abt fast fashion#any apparently people legitimately buy a dress to wear like. once.#insane to me.#and the only reason i buy clothes new is because shopping overwhlems me to such a degree if i try one more than like 2 pairs of clothes#i will have to leave the store with nothing. it is TOO MUCH sensory input.#so trying to buy second hand clothing is. as one may imagine as a fat man with one belt. pretty difficult.#its just so BIZARRE TO ME........... WHY. IM SO CONFUSED AND BAFFLED. LIKE. THERE IS NO NEED............#the most i think about buying new clothes is i want to get some modest linen summer wear. GOOD LUCK W THAT THO.#me: okay maybe I'll just figurenout how to make it okay show me linen#fabric store: 3 different cotton blends marked as linen#me: LINEN.#online only store: actual linen that to buy the amount i would need to make a full outfit and dressing gown for mysekf would run like 90$#me: .....NVM I DONT NEED CLOTHES NUDITY IS STILL IN.

Friendly Reminder to shop local.
I needed a particular fabric that I know I cam no longer get at Walmart (75% of the fabric went on clearance and now it's just gone). So I went to the local Sewing Center and found some fabric with the perfect weight and drape.... it was just the wrong color.
Luckily it will still work for what I'm doing.

getting around to actually making a dice bag by reusing some old fabrics from my cosplay days
decided to use the purple fabric from my Mismagius gijinka cosplay and the kind of hot pink fabric from my Chihiro cosplay
but holy cow i forgot how wriggly the fabric for Mismagius gijinka cosplay way (I forget if it's satin or not, I'll have to ask mother) when I went to trace the pattern I made geeeeebus, and here I was thinking I'll use the fabric again for making another dice bag or a tarot mat wrap/bag lol

Traveling enriches one’s self through the experience of visiting new places, cultures, and cuisines. However, for most of us, while on a packing spree, the most challenging task is to go light with the suitcase and yet in style with the ethnic wear. Ethnic attire is full of vibrant colours and elaborate designs and is highly cross-cultural, holding infinite possibilities of being versatile and travel-friendly if chosen well. Here is how you can pack light and look fabulous in your ethnic wear when traveling.
