Do y’all see this? She coming after any and all black people for simply existing and not agreeing with their backwards politics that is basically “every black person sucks but me and if you speak to a white person I will harass”
Aren’t you embarrassed that you defend non-Black people being anti-Black to other Black people while you are in your 40s & on Tumblr?
Well, see, when I was your stated age, lo those many years ago, I participated in anti-Apartheid protest actions and did voter registration in Black neighborhoods and embraced Afrocentrism and literally fought Black men who beat the shit out of Black women and believed it was their right to do so. Got some scars, learned some real history, joined some groups, kept fighting. We focused our efforts on defeating actual anti-Blackness, not trying to gin up internet hate over what is at best a misunderstanding -- though the receipts would suggest deliberate mischaracterization. (And more than the receipts. I remember that whole mess; it wasn't that long ago and hey, us old folks actually use Facebook, or used to in my case. The organizers of that event fucked up, got called on it, and doubled down, though I can't recall if they ever apologized or changed the date.) In my day we recognized childish beefs for what they were, if we wasted time and energy on them at all. We also understood that sometimes, it be your own people who are in the wrong. We figured out that allyship between oppressed groups isn't always fun or neat; sometimes it gets messy, particularly when one group of (mostly white!) people steps on the toes of another -- accidentally, it seems, but still painful and frustrating, particularly if the folks involved don't handle it well. But we acknowledged that messiness as necessary for growth, and moved on. We kept trying to do better. Some of us are still trying, in our public works and in the streets, to make the world better for your generation, and every generation.
You, though? You... send messages to strangers on Tumblr. About how they should be embarrassed.
Oh. Okay. Hmm.
Anyway. I'm gonna wish you well, internet stranger. I'm going to hope you grow and eventually recognize that Black folks ain't gonna get very far if we stomp all over other oppressed folks, or if we assume that being Black automatically makes any random stranger trustworthy or right. And I'm especially going to hope you grow up enough to stop acting like a member of a junior high school clique at your advanced age.
Good luck with that.
