Friday Night Funkin Original Story (Corrupta Nigrum) [Part 2: Crimson Metal]
Part 2: Crimson Metal
Another beautiful day shined upon the Holy Granda Church as Sarv sat within the greenhouse towards the back of the building, holding a plate of handmade cookies, some having strawberry frosting with a crudely made heart with a cross in the middle while others had gray frosting with an attempt to draw her friend Ruv, the nun trying to bring one of the pink cookies to the man’s mouth, only for Ruv to turn his head.
“Ruuuuv, just try them!” Sarv tried to bring the cookie closer to her friend’s face, only for Ruv to simply grunt in response.
“Sarv, you know how much I hate those kinds of foods,” the man stood up.
“Aww, but you haven’t even tried to eat one yet!” Sarv whined as Ruv stood up from his chair, Sarv following, “And where do you think you’re going?”
“Somewhere where I don’t have to be forced to eat disgusting sweets!” Ruv began walking away before Sarv held her cookie tighter going after the man.
“Oh no you don’t!” Sarv tried to shove one of the cookies into Ruv’s mouth, only for the man to slap it away, “H-Hey, I spent all last night making these! Pick it up right now, young man!”
“S-Sorry, but you asked for it!” Ruv explained, going down to get the cookie before realizing what was going on, looking up to see Sarv poised and ready to shove another cookie in his mouth, this one being the one representing his face, “Oh you little-”
“Come here!” Sarv exclaimed, running after the man who dodged every instance of her trying to shove the frosted dessert in his mouth.
“No, never!” Ruv widened his eyes a small bit, his eyebrows following the same pattern, a clear indication that he was either surprised or trying to smile despite not being able to do so.
“Say ahhh!” Sarv instructed, running after the man with her mouth open.
“AHHH!” Ruv screamed as the greenhouse shook with the man’s voice, the window panes that surrounded them beginning to crack as Sarv fell onto the ground, her plate breaking from the impact, a large array of her cookies littering the ground, as Sarv looked up, dizzy from the impact, but more so saddened by the remnant of all her work.
“Nooo, my cookies!” Sarv pretended to cry dramatically, Ruv rolling his eyes as he stood tall above her, “Ruv you brute, how could you?”
“Ugh, fine!” Ruv scoffed, grabbing one of the only whole cookies from the ground, this being the gray one with his face, before shoving it into his mouth before momentarily wincing at the strong flavor and swallowing it with a bit too much effort for eating such a simple food.
Sarv gasped with joy before picking up the rest of the broken cookies and bringing them to another plate she had left on one of the counters that held her tending tools for the greenhouse’s plants, waiting for her friend’s rather overdramatic attempt at trying to digest her gift to him.
“Sooo, how is it?” she gathered her broom and dustpan, sweeping the pieces of the plate into it turning to Ruv with an expectant smile.
“Sweet…..too sweet,” Ruv commented before coughing, a piece of the plate coming out of his mouth, “Oh, and this tastes horrible too by the way.”
“Ruv!” Sarv picked up the piece before placing it in the dustpan, emptying it in the trashcan nearby, “I swear, you can be such a child sometimes.”
“At least I’m not trying to force people to eat poison!” Ruv remarked.
“It’s not poison and you know it!” Sarv placed her hands on her hips as Ruv simply gave another grunt.
“It wasn’t…..completely awful,” Ruv responded as Sarv’s eyes sparkled from the compliment, hugging her friend tightly.
“Aw, you mean it?”
“Yeah, it was a lot better than your last ten tries this week,” Ruv shrugged.
“Gee, thanks very much,” Sarv said sarcastically, rolling her eyes before laughing, Ruv only capable of one or two chuckles as the duo stood underneath the sunlight beaming through the windows of their collection of fauna.
Suddenly however, a small sobbing began coming from the door that stopped both friends from their little happy moment, Sarv slowly pulling away from her and Ruv’s embrace before walking towards the door that led to the main mass hall where nobody really arrived to nowadays, prayer being of little importance to a world that ran on melody, though Sarv believed otherwise.
“It’s that man again, isn’t it?” Ruv asked, following Sarv who peered through the crack of the door, observing an old man with a disheveled gray beard and long white hair at one of the church’s benches, kneeling down with his hands together in prayer as his eyes were closed, tears escaping from them as he continued to pray.
“Bless those who mourn, eternal God, with the…..*sniff*.....comfort of your love that I may face each new day…*sniff*...with hope and the certainty that nothing can destroy the good that has been given. May my and…*sniff*…..mine loved ones memories become joyful, their days enriched with friendship, and our lives encircled by your love, amen” the old man had said, sobs and sniffs in between his prayer as he let out a shaky breath before continuing to cry, his cane at his side.
Sarv looked on, a pained expression filling her face as she looked on, a pained guilt inside her chest that she couldn’t help everyone who was suffering in the world at the moment, the musical harmony that is shown through the flashy billboards and tv commercials only hiding the suffering that individuals like this man were feeling, and she couldn’t do anything to stop it.
Heh, “God’s Plan” as they called it.
“Yes….” Sarv finally responded to Ruv’s question as she gave a deep sigh of her melancholy heart.
“What’s his name?” Ruv asked as Sarv looked up at the man who stared at the praying elder, Ruv having never shown any interest in the lives of those outside of herself, though the nun simply smiled sadly with that fact.
“Joseph Gerrack,” Sarv answered before her smile shifted into a frown.
“Lost loved one I’m guessing?” Ruv closed his eyes for a moment, not needing to see Sarv’s slow nod to know he was right.
“His wife, Isabelle Gerrack, recently passed away at eighty just the other day, and Joseph, having been extremely close to her, used every cent he had left in his account to give her the medical and affectionate attention she needed and deserves but…..but it turned out to not be enough I’m afraid,” Sarv’s grip on the door’s side tightening for a moment, tears escaping her eyes for a second before the nun wiped them away, “Ruv, is it selfish of us to live passed all of them when they have to go through so much suffering and death, only to go to someplace better?”
“Are you saying life isn’t worth living if you go to a better place?” Ruv brought his voice lower than they had been speaking, but his words were always louder than necessary, so the nun could hear him clearly.
“Of course not, but I feel like it makes us look like we are living our lives free of worries while everyone has to go through the pain of losing their loved ones in the process of trying to be their best selves,” Sarv looked back at Joseph who had grabbed something from the coat of his jacket, this being a rosary that he gripped in his hand before continuing his prayer.
“Or maybe we lose ourselves,” Ruv’s hardened expression made it hard to make it apparent that he too had a saddened look on his face, “But we are lucky that we are immortal.”
“How so?” Sarv looked up at the man with surprise.
“We have more time to reflect on ourselves, find longer and better ways to help those who need it…...well, at least you do,” Ruv held Sarv’s hand as she simply smiled back with some semblance of understanding in her breaths.
“Ruv, you know I believe you can do it, after everything that you’ve done to try redemption, to try and be a far better person than you have been,” Sarv squeezed the man’s help with a determined look, “You are not your actions. Don’t let your past define who you currently are.”
“Right,” Ruv looked down at the nun’s hands.
“Ruv, if you wouldn’t mind me asking, since you don’t really talk too much about other people around you and all, have you ever seen someone lose a loved one?” Sarv asked as Ruv’s eyes widened for a moment, the man placing both hands in his pockets in contemplation.
“Dozens of times actually,” Ruv sighed, “When I did some horrible things back in Tomsk, I was leaving the country, but before I reached the city walls, I encountered a cemetery with a few of the family members who belonged to those that I…..killed.
I heard them saying a prayer in their language, praying that ‘Благословенный Бог нашей земли обетованной, чтобы наша жизнь была наполнена светом и обетованием, и чтобы единство и слава, которые ждет всех нас в будущем, сбудутся, аминь.’ (Blessed God of our promised land, so that our lives will be filled with light and promise, and that the unity and glory that awaits all of us in the future will come true, amen).
At that moment I just felt like giving up, that nothing was worth continuing if I would only cause pain and suffering to those that I came near, but I stayed around for a little longer, moving into the next town over as I stayed within the alleys of the city, the motel having my posters up too, until a babushka came outside her home and say me, taking me inside her home.
As much as I didn’t trust her, she was nice to me, and when I asked her why she didn’t just call the police, she said something to me.
‘If you hit a dog with a shoe so that he stops eating all of your vareniki, it will live all of its life afraid to eat a single type of food, but if you teach it that there are other foods to eat, things that won’t get him in trouble, then it learns his lesson, and its trust on you as not an owner but a friend grows.’
I didn’t really know what she was talking about, but spending a while with her allowed me to self reflect on who I was as a person and although it only lasted a little bit, it helped me continue going forward with something in my chest, though I don’t know if it was hope or a desperate call for salvation that led me to this city…...to you.”
“Ruv…” Sarv gave a smile, the nun beginning to tear up once more before the man gesture that Joseph was leaving, Sarv quickly realizing this as she exited the greenhouse into the mass hall, “O-Oh, Mr. Gerrack, have a good day and may your soul rest in peace knowing that things will get better!”
“I trust the lord to promise me that, dear,” Joseph smiled and waved goodbye before using his cane to exit the building, dismissing Sarv’s consistent attempts to help walk him home.
“Another day, another empty church,” Sarv sighed, crossing her arms as she began to turn around, Ruv returning back inside the greenhouse.
“Excuse me!” the nun suddenly heard a voice come from the front of the church’s doors which opened slowly, a man peeking his head inside, quickly lowering his voice, “I-I’m not interrupting a mass, am I?”
“O-Oh!” Sarv gasp, this being one of the first times anybody had come to visit the church, “Not at all, please come in!”
“Thank goodness!” the man walked in, being nearly as tall as Sarv was, having short and black curly hair, thin glasses, a cinnamon suit that seemed to somewhat resemble her own, and an overhanging black cloak, “I didn’t wish to be rude since masses are quite sacred events held in these buildings, although it only seems as if one individual was here at the moment, so I take it today isn’t an average day?”
“If only,” Sarv gave a small laugh, “Unfortunately, it seems as if this is a regular occurrence for us.”
“Oh, I’m sorry.”
“No, no, it’s quite alright!” Sarv waves her hands, dismissing the man’s worries, “We’re quite used to it.”
“I see, well, that’s good news at least,” the man gave a warm smile, looking around the church in admiration for its ancient yet welcoming infrastructure, “So I take it you’re Sarvente?”
“You’ve seen the poster!” Sarv clapped her hands together happily, “I thought most of them were removed from the bulletin board at the center of town, so I had thought no one would arrive, though here you are.”
“Well then, I’m glad I could make your day,” the man grinned, extending his hand out, “Geovanni Gouge, at your service.”
“Sarvente-er-you already know that, don’t you?” Sarv shook the man’s head with a sheepish smile, “Oh, have you come to join the church?”
“Oh, um, hehe,” Geovanni scratched the back of his head, “Actually, I came here to look for you.”
“For me?” Sarv tiled her head, “Well, whatever for?”
“Have you ever heard of Boyfriend and Luc-er-Girlfriend?” Geovanni asked the nun who contemplated the question, her memories fluttering back to a few weeks ago before it snapped into place.
“Oh, the ungrateful children,” Sarv said in an irritating tone, “Yes, unfortunately we’ve had the pleasure of crossing paths, why do you ask?”
“Do you remember having a rap battle with them?” Geovanni continued as Sarv began nodding slowly before stopping.
“Wait, how do you know this?” Sarv questioned, unaware that she and the children had had an audience during that evening.
“Oh, yes, this is always the hardest part to explain,” the man scratched the back of his head with a nervous smile, “Well, to best describe it, I was simply observing the events surrounding Boyfriend and Girlfriend’s “adventures” and “encounters” with those opposing their average life, though the direct orders of Daddy Dearest.”
“Daddy Dearest?” Sarv repeated the name, contemplating it for a moment before a glare formed on her face as she clenched her gloves hands together in anger, “That demon!”
“Yes, well, through my own person peering spell that allows me to view events through the time and space of this reality, only tying it to the movements and overall body of Boyfriend himself, allowed me to follow him and Girlfriend throughout various dimensions and reality,” Geovanni continued to explain.
“Alright, as impressive as your “magical techniques” sound, is there a point to any of this?” Sarv crossed her arms.
“Very straightforward, aren’t you?” Geovanni gave a nervous laugh, “Well, in any case, I…...require your demonic assistance.”
Sarv’s eyes widened for a moment before giving a rather pompous and joyful laugh that echoed the main church chamber, light momentarily shining through the ceramic stained glass from above the main doorway that led outside the building, an image depicting a cross with a halo on top, bringing golden light in that for a moment almost seemed to act like spotlights for both the nun and the man, Sarv covered in a golden yellow as the man was washed over with a peachy white.
“Is that a yes?” the man asked.
“Oh dear, you must have seen a few demons within your home to assume something that ridiculous,” Sarv let out another laugh, this one a bit more playful in nature.
“I’m being serious…” Geovanni responded with confusion.
“Oh, I bet you are!” Sarv giggled, extending her hand out in a warm happiness, “Come now, let this nun show you the joys of belief and clear your mind of these silly accusations.”
“Wait, but I-” Geovanni protested before being thrown a microphone that had pulled out of what seemed to be thin air, as Sarv flipped the switch on hers, a small DVD player towards the back of the church, on a small table near the altar, playing a rather cheerful melody that, with the building’s emptiness, easily echoed along its walls as if a speaker system had been placed there.
It looked like there was no changing this lady’s mind.
And so, the first battle begins.
[This battle is fairly straightforward since it uses the same songs as the first Mid-Fight Masses one, “Parish”, with the same movements for Sarv and Geovanni with the only difference being the background and setting that the two are in which is similar to the original character’s church, only now we are located in the center mass hall, rows of such a building’s benches being seen in the background of both characters, a red carpet being laid down beneath them as a yellow and dim glow lights up said background, two amber spotlights shining down on both characters.]
“Argh, not again!” Sarv scowled for a moment, gripping her microphone with an extreme force, the nun’s eyes momentarily flashing a magenta hue before she simply gave a deep breath, her grip loosening, as she returned her cheerful expression and smile, “Shall we try this again?”
“Lady Sarvente, I really do not have time for this!” Geovanni protested, but the nun wasn’t paying attention.
“And I do not have time for your accusations, so I will ask you again, will you join the church?” Sarv’s left eye twitched suddenly, the nun’s patience beginning to run thin far faster than how it last occurred with the children.
“I cannot do such a thing I’m afraid,” Geovanni looked down, a surprising amount of guilt in the sorcerer’s expression.
Sarv too was surprised by the sudden addition of sadness in the man’s eyes, but he was just as rude as that boy and his beloved, right?
Yes, just another accusation after another, though his reasoning for knowing her secret was rather solid.
No, she couldn’t simply give up like this.
“Then so be it,” Sarv pressed on the lower button on her mic, switching over to her next song.
With both sides a bit frazzled, the second battle commences.
[Same situation as before, only this time the song “Worship” from the mod is the music for this battle, Sarv’s movements still the same, although Geovanni’s movements are different, being from the third round in part 1 of the story, “Dark Resistance”, where he, like Sarv, is worn out from the first battle and a bit more hesitant to truly beat her and cause more trouble in his mission, but the nun wasn’t holding back, so neither could he.]
“OH COME ON!” Sarv’s voice echoed through the sacred chamber’s walls before the nun simply glared at Geovanni, grabbing something from her pocket before taking out a phone, making sure not to break eye contact with the man while she did so, “Don’t go anywhere.”
“I can’t do that anyway, since I’ve come for your assistance,” Geovanni tried to explain before being interrupted by the phone call the nun was in, speaking to a man that the sorcerer was quite familiar with due to all the posters he had seen gathered around the streets.
“Sarv….” a deep russian accented voice echoed through the building without the need to even shout, a man wearing a grayish white jacket to accompany a face that the sorcerer had only ever seen in cookie wrappers at the local supermarket, wearing a black eyepatch with markings over his left eye, large and heavy boots, and a ushanka, “You do realize that we are in the same building, right?”
“O-Oh, right….” the nun gave a nervous laugh, “I suppose it’s a force of habit.”
“Is there a problem here?” the man that Geovanni knew as Ruvyzvat without a clear indication as to his or the nun’s last names had asked the sorcerer.
“No, I am simply trying to recruit Lady Sarvente’s assistance through her impeccable and beneficial use of demonic magic in order to stop a massive threat that is a danger to our reality as we know it!” Geovanni tried to reason with the man, Sarv’s eyes softening for a moment.
“T-Threat….?” she said softly, though only Ruv could hear her.
“How did you know about her secret demonic shifting abilities?” Ruv asked as Sarv was immediately snapped out of her concern, her expression shifting to anger.
“RUV!” she scolded the man who slowly recorrected himself.
“U-Um, I mean, how could you accuse a nun of being a demonic ruler…?” he gave a neutral thumbs up towards Sarv who simply face palmed.
“Yes, that you a lot,” Sarv said bitterly, “Would you just deal with him please?”
“Right…” Ruv gave a quick nod as the nun threw him a microphone, the man flipping it off before looking back at Sarv for a moment, gesturing around the room, “Um, don’t you want to…..you know?”
“Argh, I completely forgot!” Sarv folded her hands together, her patience at needle length, before the nun once again took a deep breath, mumbling a few prayers under her breath, “You know what, I’ll fix it, but still, do try to be careful.”
[Ruv nods as Zavodilla starts playing.]
“As you wish,” Ruv readied his voice, one which everyone at that moment knew could destroy the pillars in this place, the man taking a short breath before-
“ENOUGH!” Geovanni shouted, startling Sarv as Ruv simply stood still, the sorcerer’s pupils depicting magical circles as at the ends of his hand’s fingertips slowly spun two fairly large circles of similar complexity of ancient images, the sorcerer expression tired and pained, “I have come here to simply ask for aid to stop a celestial and primordial deity from consuming our reality as we know it, and I’ve witnessed your abilities, inside and outside your interactions with Boyfriend and Girlfriend, but neither of you seem to really care about my message, do you?”
Sarv’s cautious position and expression once again softened, the nun reaching out towards the sorcerer whose head was dropped down, his own mic dropping with it as feedback pierced the church, neither Ruv or Geovanni seeming to pay any mind as Sarv winced slightly.
“You know what? I think it’s better I leave,” Geovanni took a deep breath before passing his hands through his hair and straightening his tie, a necklace of sorts glinting in the golden light as the sorcerer turned around, walking towards the main doors of the church.
Sarv and Ruv looked at each other for a moment before the nun took a few steps forward, steps which turned to walking, and walking which turned into a light jog that made it easier to reach the man.
“W-Wait!” Sarv called out as Geovanni stopped, just a foot away from the door.
“Hmm?” the sorcerer turned around slowly, irritation still present in his face, though it was apparent that the desperation for hope was also within the depths of his eyes.
“Wait…” Sarv rubbed her arm, stopping a few feet away from the man, “Please, don’t go…….we’re…..I’m sorry for chasing you away from this sacred place.
I do not completely understand your comprehension of what I am, just as much as I myself lack the understanding of what you are, but my mission, compared to whatever may be your own, is of equal importance to me, this being the insurance that all beings in this mortal and peaceful realm of melody are accepting into the heavenly gates of the father above, so in my own regards it is hypocritical and pathetic of me to try and hide away from those who require assistance.
That being said however, I require your understanding of my own situation, one in which I cannot simply reveal my demonic form to a mortal, especially one who I have never met and who has the capabilities to do harm with this secret, so how can I be sure that you are not deceiving me, or worse, a demon yourself?”
Geovanni completely turned around, this newfound respect and understanding being responded to with a slight nod from the sorcerer who recreated the peering spell that he had tried to use on Girlfriend early that evening, the floral symbol floating in front of him before revealing his aura and essence to the nun whose eyes widened.
“I do not know if you understand what this spell is, but sorcerers and magic users who protect the peace of this world have blue souls, a trait known to those who are within the good alignment of this world,” the sorcerer gave a weak smile before dissipating the spell, “I couldn’t physically use the spell on you when I had first seen you or Ruvyzvat, but I’ve seen what you’ve done throughout all these years, and you’re actually one of my favorite portals to view every day, so I come to ask for your assistance since I truly believe that you care for all life and that your abilities, while somewhat chaotic if your mental and emotional state are unbalanced, can be used for good, like the one who denied your entrance into heaven.”
Sarv stood motionless for a moment, contemplating the sorcerer’s request before taking a deep breath and nodding to herself.
“To what extent do you need my assistance?” she asked the sorcerer who widened his eyes as if he did not expect the nun to agree this quickly.
“Do you know of the Corrupta Nigrum?” Geovanni asked as Sarv thought of the name before the nun’s eyes widened as she looked over at Ruv.
“Ruv, be a dear and close the church for now, then meet us in the library,” she instructed as Ruv gave a hesitant nod, the nun turning back to Geovanni, “Follow me.”
With those words, Sarv grabbed the sorcerer’s arm before dragging him to the right of the altar in which a door was placed, walking through it with the nun before finding himself between two doors, one on the left and the other right, before Sarv opened the left door, gesturing that Geovanni follow her down a stairwell as they walked down, luminescent lights hanging overhead as they walked deeper and deeper down into what he postulated was the library Sarv had mentioned, until the nun and he stood in front of an ordain and biblically carved door depicting the true forms of angels such as seraphims, thrones, watchers, and images of crosses.
Sarv turned the knob before opening the door, a warm light hitting the sorcerer’s face as the nun gestured he enter the room, Geovanni doing so before finding himself in a place that reminded him of his study room, only a bit smaller, the factor that made of for such a feature being the thick books that dotted the shelves, dust covering almost every surface, and a single one foot by two foot book that lay flatly opened on a lectern with a chair in front of the piece of furniture.
“Incredible….” Geovanni commented with awe, looking around the room before hearing a loud slam of the door behind him, whirling around to find Ruv closing the door as the man leaned on it, crossing his arms in expectations as Sarv walked up to the large text towards the end of the room, blowing on it as a cloud of dust gave way, making the trio begin to cough.
“Apologies, it is a bit dusty, though that is merely due to the fact that I have not used this title in such a long time,” Sarv coughed a bit more before flipping through the pages, “Though the Corrupta Nigrum is a name I have only heard of through the first mentions of the story of creation itself.”
“So you know about it?” Geovanni walked up to the nun, looking at the book with confusion as it was written in a language unbeknownst to the sorcerer before he snapped his fingers, magical circles appearing in place of his pupils as he stared at the book, focusing on some form of a translation spell, only for nothing to occur, “How strange…”
“It is an eldritch and ancient language that only those closest to God can understand unfortunately,” Sarv placed her gloved finger along one line in the text, “Though demonic entities are capable of understanding it for a reason unknown to myself.”
“You once again amaze me Lady Sarvente,” Geovanni gave a friendly smile as Sarv simply waved away the name.
“Please, Sarvente will do fine enough,” Sarv gave a small laugh, her expression then slowly shifting into seriousness as the nun returned her attention to the text, “In any case, I take it you know of the story itself?”
“It is more so an event, but I believe I have,” Geovanni nodded before clearing his throat, “From what I remember, it goes as follows:
‘ In the beginning of creation, God had made it is own purpose to form the world as we now know it today, a world where his children could interact through the use of melody and music in a way that problems could easily be solved through a friendly match of musical beats that were implanted in every single human being, be it through instrumental or vocal larynxes within every single living organism that exists in the planet as we know today.
Unfortunately, with harmony comes disharmony.
Those that went against the holy order, demons and the Blacyx, creatures that inhabit capabilities that exceed those of the laws of magic and arcanic elements of the world to torture or decieve the reality and world around ourselves, alike, made itr their sole purpose to go against the order set across by God and deceive the world into sin, not through any personal and means of betrayal, but more so an invitable result of the creation of a universe.
Harmony vs. disharmony, order vs. chaos, the world was placed into an unbalance that would threaten to annihilate everything.
Fortunately, God the Allfather had decided to compact the evils of the world into one set entity, an entity that would center around destruction and chaos as humanity knew it, and he called this entity Corrupta Nigrum.
It is said that God had then sealed away the entity within a black void of nothingness, between the cracks of space and time itself, and that the peaceful melody that would consume the world will keep it at bay for all of eternity unless a certain event takes place.
The daughter of two demons, imbued by the power of hatred and melody combined into one paradoxical entity of disharmony and utter chaos, which then was called the Filia Obumbratio, if such an event ever should occur, wouldbirth a gateway from the void of nothingness in which the Corrupta Nigrum is stored and release it into the world which shall consume all of destruction.
Until that day arrives, the melody of the world shall keep it locked away in the chains of music, peace, etc…”
Sarv gave a nod of approval at the sorcerer’s memorization, Ruv simply tilting his head in confusion.
“So basically, it’s a huge monster that wants to eat the world?” Ruv gestured his hands to represent an explosion, “Like boom and we’re dead?”
“An oversimplification, but yes,” Geovanni gave a single nod as Ruv simply grunted, wishing to hear the answer from Sarv rather than this stranger.
“Unfortunately, over time various dimensions began to form within our universe and portals between them and us began ripping the fabric of space and time a bit too thin, allowing the Corrupta Nigrum to peer into our world and spread his influence among a fairly large amount of people throughout the lands of this planet and some other dimensions as told by the rest of the scripture,” Sarv continued with the next few pages, “We have been unfortunate enough to receive a coincidence in which Filia Obumbratio is within our presence, haven’t we?”
“I am afraid so,” Geovanni nodded sadly, “Though with your connection with God, we could very well fix-”
“Pardon me, connection?” Sarv repeated the word, “I presumed you needed my assistance, but to simply speak with the Allfather is something I cannot do, apologies.”
“Ah, I see….” Geovanni took a deep breath before nodding to himself, “Well, luckily I expected this to occur, so I planned ahead of time, though what I require of you will unfortunately place your actions into question with your ability to ever enter heaven again.”
“I see…...well, I really don’t-”
“She won’t do it,” Ruv stepped into the conversation, interrupting Sarv in her words.
“I’m sorry….?” Geovanni narrowed his eyes in irritation.
“You heard me,” Ruv took a step forward as Sarv grabbed his arm to stop the man from continuing.
“Ruv, it’s alright, I just-”
“No, she won’t let all these years of hard work go to waste!” Ruv interjected the nun’s words again, the man’s voice loud enough that a few books fell from their shelves, their thickness causing clouds of dust to float around the room, making Sarv and Geovanni cough as Ruv stood unfazed, “She’s tried so hard to do good in the world, and I won’t let her waste it on some second hand plan.”
“Ruv….” Sarv sighed.
“Ruvyzvat, I have monitored your atrocities throughout the world,” Geovanni now took his step forward, snapping his fingers as a magic circle appeared, a journal of sorts coming from it as pieces of newspapers fell onto the ground, “Moscow, Russia, twelve families killed, five of which contained six family members while the other six had between two and three.
In Vladivostok of the same country, thirty adult males and five women were brutally beaten and the ten survivors, eight being men and two being women, had suffered blunt force trauma toward their cranium.
For some unknown reason, in Bern, Switzerland, seven adult males, two women, a canine strangely enough, and an unnamed authority figure of the country’s Swiss intelligence community of the Federal Intelligence Service were killed through what those of the vicinity of the “accident” amounted to around 300 decibels, their bodies suffering extreme pressure with external bleeding as those near the area nearly suffered noise-induced hearing loss.
Shall I continue?”
Ruv stopped talking, the man’s eyes widening for a moment before he took a step backwards.
“Mr. Gouge….” Sarv warned, the nun’s eyes once again flashing their magenta hue.
“You may try and hurt me to Mister Ruvyzvat,” Geovanni flickered the necklace hanging around his neck, the piece of jewelry connected by a metallic eye at the center which momentarily flashed a golden light, the action causing hundreds of small spinning magical circles to surround the man’s body, almost like a protective shield, “Though I have hold of all your secrets, and I will not hesitate to bring justice to all those you have harmed, deserving or not, before your attempt at redemption is placed underway.”
“That is enough!” Sarv interrupted the argument. Standing between the two, “Mr. Gouge, if you wish for my assistance, you will respect both myself and Ruv, is that clear?”
“.....crystal,” Geovanni tucked his necklace back into his vest’s collar, “So, may I continue?”
“Please,” Sarv affirmed.
“Very well, my plan is to simply have you remain here in your church as a central point of communication between you and I wherein I will give you my number and we shall communicate with one another from across wherever locations I will be located within,” Geovanni twirled his hand around before revealing a small piece of paper that indeed had his number on it, almost like a slight of hand trick one would see at a party, “I have been forming a spell that can theoretically find organisms of an individual’s essence and very soul, forming a connection between yourself and any potential demonic entities.
If you are able to cast correctly, it will allow me to use my peering spell and find those around the world who hold a trace of the Corrupta Nigrum from ancient or recent times and contain them within a pocket dimension of sorts and…….we will unfortunately have to place Girlfriend into its walls as well, though in a comatose state so that she cannot tap into her seeded hatred and release the entity.”
“You are planning on imprisoning a young girl for something she isn't aware is within her body?” Sarv gasped, “That is beyond unholy of you Mr. Gouge!”
“Yes, well, I believe you should be questioning why God hasn’t gotten rid of, or at least tried to prevent, Girlfriend from being born or had at least sealed off this entity so that it couldn’t break the foils of its imprisonment, and now we have to save our reality ourselves,” Geovanni retorted before looking at the duo, “We have to do this…...together.”
“I….I will try and see if I can perfect and find a capability to complete the spell,” Sarv said after a few moments of acquiescence, “Though I beg you to find a less vulgar, less inhumane way of doing this.”
“I will….” the sorcerer nodded sincerely.
“How did you find this “pocket reality” in the first place?” Ruv asked.
“Actually, this pocket dimension is one of our first individuals we have to find, one that I feel also contains the Corrupta Nigrum within her body, though I do not know her location as of yet,” Geovanni explained, “I will return to my home and find any other scrolls that could strengthen this spell for international locations. Can I count on you both to assist me?”
“I assist Sarv, not you…” Ruv commented bitterly as Geovanni handed the journal to the nun who smiled at Ruv’s comment.
“Very well, thank you once again,” the sorcerer gave a fairly diffident smile before walking towards the door and stopping, looking back at the two who had gotten started in reading the book, “Oh, and Sarv?”
“Yes?” the nun looked back at the sorcerer.
“After this is all said and done, I would love to join your church,” Geovanni said with a grin before walking back up the staircase.
Sarv smiled with glee.
A new member to the church.
A new potential friend.
And a new threat.

Friday Night Funkin Original Story (Corrupta Nigrum) [Part 5: Perception]
Part 5: Perception
Later on within the evening, Boyfriend had returned back to Winterland Plaza, right as Girlfriend and Carol had left its doors, a large group of bags with them, before understandably asking where the boy had been, Boyfriend responding with the lie that he had encountered yet another enemy that he had to rap battle in order to escape from, receiving a giggle from both girls, Girlfriend asking if he had been sucked into another dimension or chased around by a manic fangirl again, much to Boyfriend’s uncomfortable and hesitant affirmation.
Having believed his lies, the two girls and the boy had returned back to Carol’s home for some R&R as well as to just hang out for the time being, the clear skies overhead making it a perfect time to be outside before rainfall comes by as it did during the last few days.
Whatever the weather however, Boyfriend was still internally processing how he would find a way to talk to Girlfriend, especially in a small group like theirs which included Pico, her, him, and Carol, Whitty having told his new profound girlfriend that he wasn’t really ready to be around yet another person, Pico being someone who the living bomb wouldn’t want to have an argument with if it meant turning Carol’s backyard into a sinkhole.
Either way, Girlfriend was in a good mood which meant that this was the perfect time to talk to her, but not at this very moment, rather let her become a bit exhausted, if such a thing was possible for a demon, and then bring in his concerns to her slowly and steady.
For now however, he sat at a bench in the yard as Carol and Girlfriend talked to one another in the small pool the girl had recently bought, Pico having sat next to the boy who had vented his frustrations out to him.
“Wow, that’s, uh, a lot,” Pico commented, placing his hand on his head, “And I haven’t gotten used to your whole actually talking thing.”
“Sorry, I was just trying to remember everything Geovanni told me,” Boyfriend gave a sheepish smile before looking over at Girlfriend, “So, what do you think?”
“About what exactly?” Pico laughed in disbelief, “That your “new” new relationship is falling downhill faster than a drunk on a mountain bike? How about that your babe is holding some eldritch abomination inside her body, or was it soul? If you want my opinion, I think that guy was probably a crazy old guy on crack or something, and trust me, those do exist.”
“Yeah, maybe you’re right,” Boyfriend nodded, though his lack of a smile provided enough proof that he was uncertain of his own response, “G-Girlfriend wouldn’t lie to me, right? We’re supposed to be close enough that we don’t hide anything from each other, no matter how bad it is.”
“I mean, how long did it take her to tell you she was a demon?” Pico asked.
“About…..almost two months,” Boyfriend sighed in disappointment, “B-But she said she wouldn’t hide anything else from me, so she has to be telling the truth about not knowing anything about that.”
“Mhm…” the boy leaned back, closing his eyes as his vibrant orange hair glistened in the afternoon sunlight for a moment, knowing that Boyfriend’s lack of response meant his words hadn’t quite reached him yet, “Though maybe he is telling the truth and it just seems hard to believe so-”
“Pico!” Boyfriend exclaimed, pulling his shirt over his mouth in frustration.
“Look, all I’m saying is that it’s pretty crazy to hide all of this from you, but there is a possibility that she did,” Pico explained, clearly conflicting his previous statement.
“N-No, she wouldn’t…..”
“I mean is it that hard to believe?”
“No, of course not,” Boyfriend gripped his shirt tightly, “I’ve seen things you could only begin to imagine, nearly died a hundred times over, seen monsters, demons, ghosts, whatever you see in those kids books, so a monster with that much power, hidden inside a girl who’s not only hated as much as her dad, but who’s also my girlfriend, isn’t that hard to put together.”
“You really have it rough, dude.”
“Well, that’s why I came to you.”
“Huh?”
“You didn’t think I invited you over just because, did you?”
“Right, of course not,” Pico rolled his eyes with a smile, “I’m guessing you brought me here to ask me for some advice on this whole situation.”
“Actually, I thought you could go and tell her for me instead….?”
“What?!”
“It would just be for a minute or two, and I’m working on a letter so you could read it and-”
“No, no, hang on there!” Pico exclaimed loud enough that Carol and Girlfriend's attention turned towards him.
“You boys okay there?” Carol asked.
“Yeah, we’re fine!” Boyfriend quickly responded.
“Boyfriend was just telling me about this weird bat thing he was rap battling today in the alleyway a bit north from here,” Pico explained as the girl’s continued their conversation, the boy lowering his voice as he pulled Boyfriend close by, “Listen, you can’t make me go up there and talk to her!”
“Why not?”
“Well, for one, she’s a demon!” Pico looked over at the girl with a look of concern and fear in his eyes, “If I piss her off by telling her something you wrote, she’ll probably set me on fire or something! And two, this is your problem to solve by yourself, not mine. If you want to tell her how you feel about this whole situation, I can help you find the words to tell her in person, but if your just going to make me go to her and talk to her for you, then you’ve got another thing com-”
“Go Pico, yeah, yeah, go Pico, yeah,” Boyfriend sang, bounding up and down quickly.
“Don’t think that’s going to work on me-”
“Go Pico, yeah, yeah, go Pico,” Boyfriend continued with a pleading smile.
“BF, just stop, I….” Pico paused, seeing Boyfriend holding his breath as he was getting ready to sing the same phrase as before, only much louder, the mercenary quickly covering the boy’s mouth, “Alright, alright, just shut the hell up!”
“Yes!” Boyfriend nudged Pico, “See? I knew I could count on you!”
“Sure, whatever, but you owe me big time,” Pico brushed over the boy’s gesture, looking at the girls with an even more worried expression.
“Aw, come on, they don’t bite, and you’ll be fine!” Boyfriend placed his arm along the mercenary's shoulder, “Just act natural and if anything goes wrong, which it won’t, I’ll take full responsibility.”
“So, you got this letter?”
“I’m….still writing it.”
“You’ve got to be kidding me-”
“Look, it’s hard to put emotions into paper alright?” the boy opened and closed his palm, missing the feel of a microphone in his hand, “The only way I’m good at expressing myself is through rap, but that’s too loud and melodramatic than a single letter, not to mention the letter is way more fancy like she is.”
“I think you and I have very different definitions of the word fancy,” Pico glared at the boy, head downcast, “Ok, so when are we doing this thing?”
“Tonight, at seven, when I’m going out to visit Geovanni’s house, and you can tell me how she reacts to it all, and then I’ll figure out how to better approach her after she knows how I feel,” Boyfriend grinned, “It’s the perfect plan!”
“No, no it’s really not,” the mercenary shook his head before standing up to stretch, “Well, until then, wanna join the girls.”
“Yeah, I’ll be right there,” Boyfriend waved Pico off before returning to his thoughts once again.
Girlfriend was patient enough to understand his feelings, like a normal girlfriend, a normal person would, right?
Yes, his plan would work and they could trust each other, maybe even get her to trust the sorcerer in helping relieve her pain this creature might be causing her, and then Daddy Dearest and Mommy Mearest would have all the respect in the world towards him since he was able to save his daughter from a problem they had presumingly caused.
Nothing could ruin this mindset.
Suddenly however, Boyfriend felt as if something or someone was watching him, turning around to look at the outline of rose bushes surrounding Carol’s backyard, the very sight of the flower distracting the boy from the sound of rustling within them, instead causing Boyfriend to swear he was hearing whispers emitting from them.
At that moment, he noticed something that he hadn’t the first few times he visited Carol’s house before.
Did her roses ever have thorns?
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Unperceived and concealed from Boyfriend’s knowledge however, from beyond the bushes, now running a few blocks in the opposite direction in order to attempt to run as far away from Carol’s house as possible, was Sky, the girl holding her hand to her heart, not in any romantical or aspiring sense in which such a gesture would often be used by her when seeing the boy, but more so in an attempt to calm her ever beating heart, the nervousness and small tinge of guilt within her mind and body causing such a thing to occur.
The girl ran past a corner, entering a nearby park as she stopped and leaned against the wall of a nearby public bathroom, the sounds of melody and music muffled in the distance, the usual cheery environment of Friday Night Funkin being something that she had mostly only enjoyed through watching it on a screen rather than actually experiencing a musical outlook on life twenty four seven, though she couldn’t complain.
She gripped her shirt, the one bearing a red check mark, her initial attempt at trying to copy Boyfriend’s style in order to receive his attention.
“Stupid!” she said in a hushed voice, trying her best to hold in her tears, though the ones that had already started trailing down her cheek had signified a failure in that regard, the girl sliding down onto the stone brick floor, “He’s just a little dumb video game character like the rest of them….”
“That’s interesting….” a deep voice came from her side.
“EEEEP!” Sky jumped back, looking to find Ruv standing right next to her, “W-What are you doing here?! Did Geovanni send you to find me?”
“I don’t answer to that man…” Ruv glared in the direction of the church, apparently knowing where it was despite everyone being covered by buildings or trees, before placing his attention back on the girl, “I came here on my own.”
“Y’know, part of me doesn’t believe you,” Sky narrowed her eyes in skepticism, pointing at the man, “And who would? I mean, look at you!”
“Грубый маленький сопляк…. (Rude little brat….)” Ruv muttered to the side.
“What was that?” Sky questioned.
“Nothing,” the man responded before extending his hand out, “Now come on, the others are worried about you.”
“I said I need some time to think,” the girl curled up, bringing her knees to her chest as she pressed herself against the wall further.
“We have no time for that, we need to get going before-”
“Before what?!” Sky exclaimed, looking up with stained cheeks and reddened eyes, natural from her manifested form, “Why should I even care what happens to you all? You’re all just stupid video game characters inside my computer, so if that coppruted thing ever wants to come and destroy this body, then he can, cause I’ll just be put right back to my world and all of this will just be like a movie from me!”
“You don’t know that….” Ruv explained, hesitating to once again reach out towards the girl.
“So what if I don’t?!” Sky snapped back, “I don’t matter at the end of the day anyway, right? I mean, the only reason that Geovanni helped me is because of my manifest and if I give it to him, I could go home again and not even have to bother with almost getting killed and….and….”
Sky stopped, softly crying into her hoodie as Ruv simply sighed, sitting down next to the girl.
It was a lot more quiet out here…….he liked the quiet.
“You know, you could….” the man finally decided to break the silence, feeling Sky’s eyes on him without having to even look, “You could just run away and be safe, go back to your life where you’re just a normal school girl who gets picked on for liking something different than other people, someone who wants to be appreciated, as you watch our world go to hell while you stay behind, looking at us all perish before you.”
“W-What are you saying….?” Sky sniffled, lifting up her head.
“It’s like you said, we’re all video game characters in your eyes, right?” Ruv held a leaf before crushing it in his palm, his eyes narrowing in irritation, “Just little things you can play with and throw away when you’re done.”
“W-Well, yes, but-”
“And then, when everything is over, you return back to what you described as a horrible life where you’re always running away from your problems, because other people don’t care about you and the only other people who did were just stupid little video game characters in your game,” Ruv gave a soft laugh, “But only losers talk to fictional characters, right?”
“Hang on!” Sky grabbed the pieces of the leaf from Ruv’s palm, “I don’t want you all to die!”
“Then why are you still running away, after everything he and she gave you?!” Ruv slammed his fist against the wall, forming a small crater where it had landed, pieces of brick falling onto the ground, Sky looking on in a mixture of concern and fear before her eyes softened as she held onto her hoodie’s drawstring, “Sorry, sorry, I don’t know what came over me, I’m just-”
“It’s because I’m afraid….” Sky responded, her voice a little above a whisper.
“What?” Ruv’s eyes widened a small bit, the man looking down at the girl.
“I’m afraid,” she reiterated, “Afraid that I won’t be able to change my heart, my mind, no matter where I go or what I do to try and change myself, and when I finally get close to forgetting about my obsession, I think my parents called it OLD or something, forgetting about all the horrible things I’ve done, there’s always something that brings back those memories or moments that I just wish I could forget!”
“.....I’m sorry,” Ruv whispered, grabbing another leaf from the ground, this time fiddling it around his fingers, “You know, I once ran away too, from country to country, trying my best not to hurt people that didn’t deserve to get themselves hurt or worse, but my good deeds also became something of an obsession and that led to many good people dying whether I wanted them too or not.
That’s when I found Sarv and, while we didn’t get along in the beginning, our friendship became stronger than any I’d made throughout my journeys in other places of the world, and I thought that I was safe, that this was finally the place where I would get redeemed and forget all of my past mistakes…...but it wasn’t that simple.
Even here people wanted to hunt me down and capture me for all the things that I’d done and, in certain days, I wished that I had just turned myself in and made this whole mess easier on her, after everything she did for me.
Sometimes I don’t feel like I deserve her kindness or that I’ll ever gain forgiveness for what I’ve done, but until then, I have her just like you have Geovanni to show us how to be better people…...even when we feel undeserving of such a blessing in our lives.”
Sky was speechless, hearing Ruv speak this much, to her of all people, being something she did not expect, before the girl simply sighed, shaking her head with a small smile.
“You guys are too much…” she stood up, brushing off dust from the debris on her jeans, “I don’t feel like I have control on what’s going on around this world, let alone my own emotions, and knowing that some freaky dimension creature is the thing that’s been encouraging me to continue doing all those things I did not Boyfriend didn’t help me feel better about myself.”
“But….?” Ruv looked at the girl, his height making his sitting position match a slightly larger height than her’s.
“But, I guess I’ll try to believe in myself just a little more,” Sky looked up at the clouds above her, the small breeze of the evening hitting her cheeks, her shirt flowing in the wind as her hoodie anchored itself to her body, two distinct aspects of the girl that didn’t fly away from her, but instead kept her grounded and focused on a path that allowed her to do more harm than good in the world, love all people rather than one, “I’ve been in this world for seven months, a few before Boyfriend and Girlfriend had escaped from the Dearests, something beyond the normal game’s story, so what’s a few more gonna do?”
“Aтта девушка…. (Atta girl….)” Ruv slowly placed his hand on Sky’s head, causing the girl to simply giggle, placing her hand on his.
“Don’t be afraid, I won’t bite!” she grinned before taking a deep breath, “Okay, I think I’m ready, let’s go back.”
“After you…” Ruv gave a playful bow as Sky happily skipped forward, humming a tune that he had heard once on the radio Sarv kept in their church, the man actually managing to give a genuine smile before following after the girl.
As the walked, in the glint of the sunlight which dappled through the tree branches, the man could’ve sworn he saw a touch of a golden hue on Sky’s hair.
“Hmm, strange….”
-------------------------------------------------------
Meanwhile, on the other side of the park, Geovanni walked along the jade metallic fencing covering the area, the fragrance of fresh daisies and roses within the bushes helping relax the tension the sorcerer was feeling, having convinced Sarv to allow him to leave the church and go in search of Ruv and Sky, having enough arcane and magical skills to fend off any malevolent or threatening obstacles they may have faced through their path.
The chatter of people walking nearby and the musical harmony of other groups of people in front of small speakers, ones that weren’t deceived or placed under the illusion to be the crystals that made up Girlfriend’s, the sound of pop and jazz music filling the air.
This city was truly something to behold, just like those brochures he had seen back in his old town in Michigan had said, the cadence of beauty that filled its streets being something to marvel at constantly, making it fairly disappointing that his own home had to be placed at a distance from the main sections of the cities, though having Sarv and Ruv share the same disappointing outlook in their homing situation made him feel a bit better about his own.
Geovanni shook his head, slapping his cheeks as he reminded himself that the purpose of coming out here was to search for Sky and Ruv, not awe at the sights in the main city park.
“Sky! Ruv!” he called out, inevitably receiving some stares from those around him, “Are you two here?!”
“Yo, did you just say Sky?” a boy called out from a group of four teenagers who were sitting on a bench next to the entrance to the park itself.
“Yes, have you seen-”
“Hey, isn’t that the crazy chick obsessed with Boyfriend?” one of the girl’s from the group questioned further.
“I heard she has a whole collection of that guy’s clothes in her house,” a gothic looking girl commented, “Must really stink there!”
“Hehehe, yeah, and she’s probably on her way to stalk on him right now with that criminal guy, Ruvy-what’s-his-name or whatever,” the last member, another boy, this one appearing to be a jock of sorts, added with a snicker, “Probably just another one of those whor-”
Suddenly the last teenager felt his shirt’s collar being pulled as his body was slammed against the back of the bench, causing cracks to form behind his back, or maybe it was his back, the boy looking up at Geovanni’s burning eyes, the magical circles from before having formed in place of his irises, though the sorcerer didn’t at all seem angry, but more so disappointed.
“My friend, I greatly recommend you choose your next words extremely carefully,” he warned with a delicate and almost observant manner, “Now, I am well aware that ignorance at times breeds stupidity out of idiotic trash such as yourselves, but you are all quite lucky my primary mission is to preserve all living life in this planet that birthed ungrateful welches such as yourselves who are blind enough to judge a person solely based upon their own actions without truly acknowledging who they are on the inside.”
With those final words, the sorcerer released his grip, the boy leaning forward once again as Geovanni made his way into the park, leaving behind a fairly stunned and fearful group of teenagers.
“That fuckin bastard’s crazy!” the boy cried out as the sorcerer continued striding along the set path of the park’s entrance.
“Mmm, perhaps I should burn their bodies inside out and find Myra so she may resurrect them once more, especially since I must locate her for a portal spell and her knowledge anyway,” Geovanni laughed to himself, “Or perhaps I should merely let Sky have her way with them, see if she learns to control her manifest in a productive manner, or maybe even…..”
Geovanni stopped walking, having now noticed that the chatter of voices around him had stopped, the entire world seeming to have delved into a dark silence as the sorcerer looked around, finding that there was indeed no one within the park’s boundaries, the groups of people, even those unholy teenagers, gone from his point of view as he began slowing his steps, taking some form of caution with every one that he had taken.
He looked up, finding that the blue sea of clear skies had become a bloodshot red with black clouds replacing the outlying ones that had once been there.
“What in the world…..?” Geovanni remarked before being interrupted by what appeared to be a gurgling sound coming from the fountain at the center of the park.
The sorcerer rushed towards it, afraid that someone could be drowning and needed his assistance, placing his hands on the edge of the fountain itself, looking down to find his own reflection staring back at him.
Only it wasn’t completely himself.
What stared back at Geovanni was a pile of flesh and snapped bone that was wearing his own clothes that tiled its head, almost as if curious as to why it had a new visitor or perhaps why its reflection was not as abnormal as itself.
“Well now, isn’t this interesting….?” a deep and slow voice called out from the reflection which, using the broken bones sticking from its flesh, brought and melded them together to form rudimentary teeth which grinned back at him with a cunning and amused smile.
“Goodness!” Geovanni backed away from the fountain, about to turn around before a rubble trembled underneath his feet as he could feel his balance loosening, the sorcerer falling to the ground as he turned back around to witness a scene that he had not wanted to see nor experience being a part of.
The marble bricks of the fountain began to crack as a black liquid seemed through it, eventually breaking past the layer of rock as a wave of inky water washed upon the ground, quickly gelatinizing into some tar goo that began to form tendrils, arms, legs, teeth of broken flesh, bones, and a red crystal of sorts, as well as hundreds of heads, all of which had a centered eyes that continuously bled what he presumed was blood.
The stench of iron, rotten flesh, and moss filled the air with a tinge of…...lemon?
He looked around as the flowers that surrounded the park had wilted into piles of nothing but ash, what seemed to be the remnants of the city in the background burning as the screams of children and adults alike filled the void around him, causing the sorcerer to place his hands above his ears, but the sounds persisted even then.
“Come now, isn’t it rude to ignore the pleasant melody of DEATH?” the voice mocked his justifiable cowardness.
As Geovanni continued looking at the cesspool of an amalgamation of abominations within his set point of view, it clicked in his mind what it was that had been standing in front of him.
This…...was the Corrupta Nigrum.
“No, no, you cannot be real, it still couldn’t have come out this early!” the sorcerer called out towards the unembodied voice around him.
“Oh, but it is too real, magic user,” the voice laughed, “Can’t you hear the screams of burning children? The bubbling of skin on top of the mouths of hungry birds?”
“You disgusting little-”
Bzzt!
Geovanni looked down at his pocket taking out his phone, the cross which represented Sarv’s icon pictured on screen.
“Sarvente…” Geovanni gasped before readying to answer the call before his phone began bubbling, menting into a black liquid that immediately sank and joined with the rest of the pile, “W-What?”
“Upupup, being on a phone call while someone is talking to you is rude you know?” the voice said, “I mean, feed into despair and look upon the destruction of your precious little world!”
“Wait, you’re….” Geovanni stopped for a moment, “You’re desperate to scare me, aren’t you?”
“Excuse me….?” the voice responded.
“Which means that this, all of this, is an illusion!” Geovanni pressed his thumb down on the empty space where the phone once stood, a beeping sound being heard as a shimmering wave revealed that the phone was still in his hand the entire time, the sorcerer bringin it up to his ear, “Sarvente, what’s going on?”
“Geovanni, there's a Blacyx at the park currently, and I thought it might be where Sky, but now there’s two markers of them around that area-”
“No, it isn’t her, this is something completely different,” Geovanni responded.
“NO, NO, STOP TALKING TO THAT DEMON, PAY ATTENTION TO ME!” the voice commanded, the world around the sorcerer rumbling even more furiously, “CAN YOU NOT SEE THE CITY IS BURNING AND PEOPLE ARE DYING?! THEIR SKIN WILL BE EATEN BY THE MONSTERS INSIDE THE SHADOWS!”
“The only monster I see here is you…...Lemon Monster,” Geovanni turned around and, as he had expected, there he stood.
A tall and slim creature far above his own height, leaned over in a threatening position, long sharp claws for fingers, a black body that almost seemed to move in a way akin to static, a lemon shaped head, bulbous eyes, and a grin of sharp bloody teeth, the teeth themselves so disorganized that through the gap of them he swore the eyes of someone else stared back.
“Lemon what?” Sarv said from the other side before Geovanni closed the phone, cancelling the call.
“Clever boy….” the creature, who indeed was the infamous Lemon Monster, responded with a slow clap, laughing softly and slowly, “I didn’t even need to rap battle you and you’ve already seen through my alteration.”
“I’m quite perceptive, but I must say, your tricks are quite realistic,” Geovanni crossed his arms, “In all honesty, I was planning on looking for you, although I didn’t quite know where to find you exactly.”
“That was the point of me hiding, no?” Lemon Monster began walking around Geovanni, the sorcerer's eyes peeled on him, “I saw what you did to those kids and such a strong individual like yourself felt like a tasty morsel to have, especially after those kids had already been eaten alive a few minutes ago.”
“T-They what?!” Geovanni took a step back.
“Oh yes, they were quite the delectable,” the creature once again laughed, “Although I knew you were different, having that magical barrier around your body, so I decided to alter your perception so that you could perhaps die of shock or something along those lines, and then I could have you all to myself.”
“You horrendous fiend!” Geovanni exclaimed, reaching his hands forward as magical circles formed around the tips of his fingers, the sorcerer extended them towards the monster as beams of light escaped from them, the creatures slinking to the side as the beams exploding across from them before heading straight towards the sorcerer, “I will not allow you to harm anyone else!”
“Oh, but poor and hungry me will have to disagree!” Lemon Monster grinned before slicing at Geovanni, the monster’s claw hitting the barir as it neared the sorcerer's skin, “Why don’t I remove your skin and we can make this quick, hmm?”
“In your wildest nightmares!” Geovanni exclaimed before blasting his beams at the creature who dodged them once again.
“Mmm, but I just can't wait to have you for a feast!”
“Guh! Stand still!” another blast came forth, hitting the now frozen projection of the Corrupta Nigrum.
“Hehehe, unfortunately, that will not be the case…”
“Argh, dearest father, I hate you!” Geovanni extended his arms to the side, multiple large circles appearing at his command before a barrage of yellow crystals shot from them, the creature slinking through the gaps in between like it was all a game, because in his mind, it was.
“Do you not get it Geovanni?!” Lemon Monster yelled, his voice echoing the park, no, the world, “I am no man, but a monster, and I will be the one to bring your quest for salvation to an end for I am your doo-ARGHHH!”
Lemon Monster looked down at his chest, two blackened claws passing through his chest, blood spilling onto the floor before becoming black, as the creature rotated his head to look at his assailant which had surprisingly been Sarvente within her demonic form, the nun gritting her teeth with fury before pulling the creature apart, ripping his body in half as the monster fell to the ground, his body pieces squirming before lifting themselves up, beginning to rebuild the body.
Geovanni immediately conjured up a magical circle before beginning to circulate his hand, manipulating the remains of the creature as they slithered tightly into a ball of death and chaotic birth at the center of his circle.
The world around the two shimmered and waved for a second before gradually melting away like mud, this whole illusion almost seeming to be a part of the monster himself, and Geovanni looked around to find what had occurred.
Multiple parts of the park had gaping holes and craters on the floor, everyone around the sorcerer backing away as they huddled their loved ones close, fearful expressions on their faces.
“W-What did….?’ Geovanni looked towards Sarv who herself was also mildly damaged, her right side of her abdomen hit with an orange glow that he had immediately recognized as his own magic, the bruise deep inside her to the point he could almost see her muscle, “O-Oh my lord, Sarvente you’re-”
“Yes, and you are lucky no one else was in the process either,” the nun grabbed the man’s body before bursting into the air with him, Geovanni keeping his spell active to contain Lemon Monster, “I should be fine, but let’s find Sky and Ruv for now, alright.”
“But you’re-”
“I said I’m fine…” Sarv reiterated before flying towards the church's direction, “It wasn’t your fault, it was that fiend’s, but you shouldn’t have hung up on me like that.”
“I know, I’m sorry, but I thought I could handle him,” Geovanni looked down as they neared a building that was close to the church’s location, though not directly towards it, “You’re much stronger than I was…...and smarter as well.”
“You flatter me, but do not think so little of yourself,” Sarv closed in on the church, “You saw through that monster’s illusion.”
“Yes, but I still haven’t got a clue as to what his presence meant, nor why he had targeted me specifically, but at least we have one creature to contain, huh?” Geovanni looked at the ball of black ink with a smile of relief and a small amount of pride that was immediately overshadowed with guilt at what had happened, “I hope I didn’t seriously hurt the citizens.”
“No, they are fine, and the authorities will take care of the destruction, although we might need to be more covert and limit our time outside our homes for a while,” Sarv suggested.
“I suppose so….” Geovanni looked back towards the park, sighing in disappointment towards himself.
How could he allow such a tragedy to occur?
That fruit headed monster is truly something to be reckoned with, and now he would have to contain it?
This day could not be in the line to become any worse…….could it?

Friday Night Funkin Original Story (Corrupta Nigrum) [Part 4: Eyes Of The Giver]
Part 4: Eyes Of The Giver
Geovanni walked down Dore Street, having just come from Winterland Plaza, an unusual name for a location, seeing as though it was open during all forms of seasons, though he would admit that the only interesting time he had even cared to pay attention to the place was during the very season it was named after, where illusions and gunpoint all had occurred at once for his viewing, not that he wouldn’t stop the events of course, though since they were in the hands of Daddy Dearest, he had allowed them to unfold in front of him, although that goddamn lemon shaped creature hadn’t made the view quite enjoyable, torturing poor Boyfriend in that way.
He wondered how the boy was after they had last met a few weeks ago, especially after witnessing the entire ordeal that had occurred between the sorcerer and Girlfriend, bringin the thought of placing an end to the girl’s resistance in saving their world within his mind, if the concern that Sarv hadn’t found any Blacyx as of late hadn’t hit him first.
Whether the reason for finding more Blacyx was to simply delay the inevitable capture and exorcism-like experiment on Girlfriend herself or if it was truly necessary was something that conflicted the sorcerer's mind, though he simply had to carry on, especially when everyone was relying on him, whether they knew it or not, so he couldn’t simply give up now.
As for Sky herself, the brief yet clear explanation of the plan he had set in motion for himself, Sarv, possibly Ruv, and the girl herself was given the other day, though he supposed it wouldn’t hurt to go over it once more for the sake of clarification, especially since the girl had gotten along with the other two who had offered her whatever accommodation they could gift out of the kindness of their heart.
The sorcerer’s team had only consisted of three individuals including himself, though he could already feel the eccentricity and diversity within it, in both physical and mental aspects of the group itself.
Today he had decided that it would be nice to pay them a visit, especially since Sarv hadn’t reported on any Blacyx since he had brought in Sky two days ago, though the process understandably took some time, being that the nun was scanning the entire globe to find the creatures and, with Geovanni’s own modification to the spell, various nearby realities as well.
Despite the lack of progress they had made however, Geovanni had some individuals he wished to visit himself, the creatures in this world and others being people who he had felt could assist them as much as Sky and Sarv themselves had already done for him.
He was honestly fairly surprised to find how much people gravitated towards him when he offered his assistance in solving whatever problems they may have, though he never minded the duty as it was still part of his title as guardian and protector of peace, as cheesy as that may sound in his mind.
He was glad they were enjoying each other’s company this whole time however, like some strange family, though he never shied away from doing as he promised, especially towards Sarv in which he had consistently visited the church whenever he could, which was usually during the Sundays.
He continued walking down the sidewalk, the clear sky above him glinting sunlight through the darkened red liquid of soda that he had brought as a gift of his visit, though it was a substitute for wine due to Sky’s own age and Ruv’s apparent distaste for the drink.
However, something did not feel right.
Geovanni could hear the sounds of footsteps echo behind him, the same sound he had been hearing for every corner he had taken, though he had accepted it as the groups of people that would walk past him, the city itself being fairly busy during this time of year, though when he turned the street leading to the Holy Granda Church.
The strange part is that nobody lived here, and no one visited the church to his knowledge and Sarv’s explanation, the street itself being far more empty as it was far in the distance beyond an array of abandoned apartment buildings that were readied for dismantalation due to reports of supposed “hauntings” in the area, though he supposed that’s what happens when the church beyond them was literally run by a demon itself.
The sorcerer turned around, the sound of footsteps ceasing as he stood in front of an empty apartment complex, the street barren and empty, enough vegetation taking over to deem it an avenue compared to its street name which was faded from the sign towards the beginning of its cul-de-sac entrance.
“Hello? Is anyone there?” Geovanni called out, the only response he could hear being heavy breathing coming from the small alleyway between two apartment buildings not too far from where he was, the individual’s breathing loud enough to echo the street itself, “If you are attempting to hide your presence, I am sorry to inform you that you are not doing a very good job, though I won’t hurt you, so just come out.”
With those words, and a minute or two of hesitation, the figure emerged from the alley, it being…….Boyfriend.
“Beep Bop ski doo pop…. (Hey, Geovanni….)” the boy gave a small and sheepish wave, his voice having returned to its natural form.
“Boyfriend?” Geovanni called out in surprise, shifting the weight of his groceries so that it wouldn’t disrupt him, “What are you doing here? Where’s Lu-er-I mean Girlfriend?”
“Beep, beep bo beep sepoppop poo, bebop doo….drop udop? (Oh, well she said she was going out with her friend Carol for the evening, and….you can’t understand me, can you?)” Boyfriend gave a sad sigh.
“What was that?” Geovanni tilted his head in confusion before realizing the problem, “Oh, right, the spell!”
Placing his paper bag on a nearby set of broken and overtaken steps, the sorcerer kneeled down as he performed the same spell he had used on Boyfriend the first time they had met once again, the boy taking deep breath before looking up at him with a thankful smile, his body still fidgeting for a moment.
“Thanks homie-erm-sir, I owe you another one!” Boyfriend grinned, Geovanni immediately taking notice of the slower and less confident movements of the boy’s body and words, standing back up.
“No need for the formalities, and think nothing of it…” he had said slowly, placing his hands in his pockets, “Boyfriend, are you doing well?”
“Hmm? Oh, um, yeah, yeah, I’m good!” Boyfriend’s voice squeaked, a sign he wasn’t being truthful.
“Are you sure?” Geovanni kneeled back down, wanting to meet the boy at eye level with the same form of respect he had given Sky, “Remember, I am here if you require any form of assistance from me, no matter what it is.”
Boyfriend squirmed once again, wanting to so desperately and instinctually grab onto his mic and simply rap his problems away, though Girlfriend is the one that usually carried them for him, and his trip was supposed to be short, he was supposed to ask the sorcerer for some clarification to ease his mind of the metaphorical demons that existed inside of it within a world of literal ones.
You would think that after seeing what he was unsure was everything, talking to people would get easier, talking about his feelings specifically.
He supposed he was still human inside, something that could either be reassuring, after being a part of the Dearest family recently, or scary, due to the vulnerability he could have against creatures, friends and foes, that could seriously hurt him, people that couldn't be swayed with a thousand rap battles.
“Actually…..can we chew-the-fat? Y’know, like a one-to-one convo?” Boyfriend asked.
“Chew-the-fat? Convo?” Geovanni repeated with a puzzled expression.
“Sorry, I meant to, like, talk,” Boyfriend quickly corrected.
“O-Oh, yes, absolutely,” the sorcerer reached down to pick up his groceries, “I was actually heading over to the church at the moment, but if you want, you can come and-”
“No,” the boy interrupted, scratching the back of his head nervously, “I was wondering if we could talk alone, here?”
“Here….?” Geovanni looked around them, the sound of rustling leaves filling the barren street as the melody of street signs, billboards, and occasional car radio echoed in a muffled capacity of noise in the distance, the sorcerer looking back toward the end of the cul-de-sac, viewing the church’s peeling pink paint and its jet blck roofing who’s decrepit nature was also apparent, “Alright, why not?”
The sorcerer sat on the stairs, patting on them as a gesture for Boyfriend to join him as the boy did so, the wet and cold sensation underneath making both jolt for a moment before giving simultaneous laughs.
“Man, you’re really top dog, y’know?” the boy looked up into the sky above them, something he hadn’t done much, mostly and constantly staring at what lay in front of him, preparing for the next battle as the obstacles that stood in his way of being a popular and the best rapper were due to the fame he had so much sought to gain.
“I simply wish to help those that I can whenever I am able to do so,” Geovanni joined the boy in staring at the cloudless world above their own, all the creatures that both had seen beyond the stars, past our own worlds, seeming like a journey years in the making, “What is on your mind?”
“I….” Boyfriend stopped, figuring out how to best put his emotions into words, something that his “beeps” and “boops” would cover for them beforehand, “I’ve got a lot on my mind right now, and I’m not sure how I can get through all my problems right now.”
“Are you not happy with Miss Dearest?” the sorcerer asked, looking back down at the boy with a warm smile.
“Y-yeah, I am, obviously, though I guess…..hmm…..I think I’m not happy with myself?” Boyfriend questioned his own mentality and emotions, “Does that make sense?”
“Is this about what had occurred the other week?” Geovanni asked, “I assure you that Girlfriend had meant well, hiding her secret from you, though I guess learning she was a demon could perhaps place you in some form of shock-”
“Oh, no, I knew about her smokin new form already,” Boyfriend clarified, “She told me about it the first time we met.”
“Oh…..I see,” Geovanni rubbed his thumbs together, “Apologies for assuming.”
“Nah, you’re good, it’s just…..you said you watched my battles before, right?” he asked.
“That is correct.”
“Right, and you remember every battle too?”
“More or less,” the sorcerer shrugged, “I keep a detailed note of any important encounters you may have had, and especially entities or creatures that could prove dangerous to Girlfriend’s safety due to my duty and all, but in most cases I do.”
“Okay…..do you remember Senpai?” the boy finally spoke his concern, Geovanni blinking in confusion for a moment before placing a finger on his chin, squinting his eyes in remembrance.
“Yes, that handsome boy who mentioned gargling his testicles across your face,” he responded with a shudder.
“No, the other Senpai,” Boyfriend reiterated, trying to give a small smile.
“The spiritual entity?”
“Yeah….him.”
“Of course, why do you ask?”
“How much did you see?”
“Well, mostly whenever your obstruction is a safe distance from Girlfriend, I tend to cease observing your entire lives in order to keep your privacy intact, much to Daddy Dearest’s displeasure though that could be our little secret, though I simply remember him threatening to posses both of your bodies until you had defeated him in your slittle song before returning back home,” the sorcerer considered his explanation for a moment, “Did I miss anything else?”
Boyfriend gave a small and slow nod.
“After I beat him, he was pretty down, so I told him, I promised him, that I would find a way to save him from this curse and rescue him from the game Daddy D put him in,” Boyfriend explained, giving a breath of relief to finally tell someone that, though it wasn’t as if he hadn’t trusted Girlfriend anyway.
“Ah, I believe I understand now,” Geovanni gave a nod of comprehension, leaning back against the steps, “You seem to have made a promise that you are yet to accomplish, and in doing so you are filled with some form of regret, are you not?”
“....mhm….”
“Have you come up with any potential way to rescue him?”
“W-Well, Girlfriend doesn’t want to and her parents are the ones who caused this…...so I was wondering if…?” he looked up at the sorcerer with a bashful smile.
“Oh! Oh…..I’m sorry, but I’m afraid I cannot help you with that,” Geovanni responded with a guilty look in his eyes.
“W-What?”
“If Daddy Dearest was truly the individual responsible for that poor man’s current form then I’m afraid my magical interference won’t do much in the line of one of the most powerful demons that exists in this world, not to mention that I have the capability to alter and view the appearance of souls, as you had seen previously, though I cannot manipulate the transportation of such, like raising the dead of placing people in temporary physical shells of a body, fake or real,” Geovanni explained, noticing Boyfriend’s somber expression grow on every word he had said, “Once again, I’m terribly sorry! Oh dear, I made your day even worse, haven’t I? I didn’t mean to-”
“Nah bro, don’t worry about it,” Boyfriend clenched his fist, looking down at it, “I was hoping you could help me out, but if I gotta keep on moving up in the world to hold my solid, my promise, to that guy, then I will…….but then there’s Girlfriend.”
“What about her?”
“It’s not like I don't trust her, I-I do, but there’s just so many things going around us and….” Boyfriend sighed, looking to the side, “Geovanni, level with me here.”
“Ah, alright,” the sorcerer hunched over, trying to bring his height to Boyfriend’s, though failing to do so.
“Whenever me and her are having these awesome rap battles together, and whenever we have to go to another one again and again, I…..I get tired, and I get mad, but I don’t want her to think that I don’t want to be with her, but the point is that…….look, am I bad for thinking this is her fault to begin with?” he asked.
“Her fault for what exactly?”
“For this, all of this,” Boyfriend gestured all around them, “Having to fight all these enemies for something she could’ve just stopped if she spoke up to her goddamn dad.”
“Well, if you want my opinion, you seem to have an unsteady and fickle connection with Girlfriend to begin with, and any proper relationship, be it platonic or romantic, must have a trusting atmosphere between the individuals of such a commitment, though it’s only human to blame the events occurring around you on another person or another aspect of life, though I don’t believe that makes you a bad person by definition,” Geovanni explained, looking out towards the church, his moment with Sky coming back to his mind, “You are merely…..confused, and being so is completely reasonable in this strange world of ours, though it doesn’t mean that you cannot stand up and make it your own.
You are capable of so much good Boyfriend, and the events occurring around you, as unfair and draining as they may seem, are simply the obstacles that we all face in life.
While others face taxes and fruit themed trouble with our idols, you face and have faced lemon shaped monsters, smoking individuals, gunpoint from park strangers, and even a studious necromancer, and while all those encounters may have seemed like negative events within your life, hasn’t it made your growth and affection towards Girlfriend stronger?”
“I guess, but it’s like I don’t know what she's hiding anymore, and it feels like she doesn’t trust me as much as I don’t trust her sometimes, y’know? First it was Tabi and then this whole corruption thing inside of her?” Boyfriend looked down, tears forming in his eyes, “I-I…..I just wanna make people smile when they hear my music and I wanna be with my babe, but if I can’t do one, then I can’t even get close to getting both.”
“Then speak with her, Boyfriend,” Geovanni placed his arm around the boy’s shoulder, “I’ve watched Girlfriend for a long time now and it seems as if she always liked pushing people away because it seems as if she believes she might hurt them were they to find out the truth behind her abilities, her propensity to hurt others that goes far beyond any average citizen within this city, goodness, even the world, but show her that you care about her, that you would stay by her side no matter what occurs, because you do, do you not?”
“Of course!” Boyfriend looked up with a confident expression, “I didn’t come all this way just to give her up!”
“Then go to her and fight for your love,” Geovanni stood up, extending his hand to bring the boy to his feet as well, “Even if you find trouble in your relationship and end up breaking things up with her, and even if your love may feel estranged and far off into a distant land, I have an inner feeling that you two will find each other again, I just know it.”
“Man, you’re a melodramatic guy, aren’t ya?” Boyfriend shook the sorcerer’s hand before hesitantly hugging Geovanni’s body, though due to his height, that mainly accounted for his stomach, “Thanks dude.”
“It is my utmost pleasure,” Geovanni gave a small nod before patting the boy’s back and picking up his groceries once more.
“You know, you remind me of a guy I met not too long ago,” Boyfriend beat his own chest with his fist before holding a peace sign in the air, “He would like you. Anyways, I better get going before Girlfriend starts tearing down half the city lookin for me, see ya later homie!”
“Until we meet again, Boyfriend,” Geovanni said with a slow wave before giving a sigh.
The thought of the Corrupta Nigrum tearing down half of the city through Boyfriend’s own indirect implication of such an event made for a fairly unpleasant thought, though he would stop it…….although he hoped Girlfriend wouldn’t have to be lost in such a promise.
Though promises had to be kept….right?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Trying to recede any negative thoughts further back into his mind, Geovanni pushed forward, making his way into the bubblegum colored building, such a bright, though desaturated color, being enough to bring back some form of positivity within the mind of the sorcerer.
The others wouldn’t mind a visit this unexpectedly, right?
They had been doing quite well without the sorcerer’s intervention, say for Sky’s various rude comments every so often, and they had grown quite familiar with each other as of late so it would be best to at least reward them for a job well done.
In addition to this was the fact that visiting the church every now and then did place some form of ease within Geovanni’s mind, this being extremely important due to the amount of stress and responsibility he had placed not only upon himself but indirectly upon Boyfriend in taking care of and watching over Girlfriend whose emotions were something that should not go unchecked if they all wished to still remain alive within this reality.
Having something like an existential crisis out of nowhere would ruin the sorcerer's plans and their world as they know it, so it would be in everyone’s best interest if they could prevent the entity from wreaking havoc beyond Melo Dee City.
In any case, he had felt confident that everything would work out, even more so considering that all of them shared a common home within their universe, so it would help if the people they met would cooperate with them rather well.
Whatever the situation may be, he will form the best team he can, and they will save the world together.
Geovanni turned the knob of the church’s secondary interior door, readying himself to enter the main hall with a large smile.
Nothing could ever ruin this day.
“AHHHHH!” Sky’s screams were the first sound to enter the sorcerer's ears as he entered the large array of pews.
“WHAT IN THE WORLD IS WRONG WITH YOU?!” Sarv’s screaming followed suit as Geovanni noticed what the hell had been occurring at the moment.
Sky had somehow made her way onto the nun’s back, pulling on her twin veils as Sarv tried so desperately to get her off, the two running in circles towards the front of the altar, Ruv also following behind both of the girls, though at a much slower pace, as the strange sight was completed within the sorcerer's viewpoint.
“Ruv, would you be a dear and PLEASE REMOVE THIS INSOLENT DEMON FROM MY BACK?!” Sarv exclaimed as the man simply sighed.
“She’s too fast and feisty,” Ruv explained, reaching towards Sky, only to be swiped at, the girl having momentarily shifted into her manifested form.
“AHHH!” Sky and Sarv continued screaming.
“Oh dear…” Geovanni quickly placed his groceries down onto one of the pews and performed the sign of the cross on one knee before rushing up to the trio, “People, people, what in the world is going on here?!”
“SHUT UP YOU ICE CREAM LOOKING B…..” Sky stopped her insult, noticing who had just arrived, before the girl’s eyes sparkled with excitement, jumping off of Sarv before embracing the sorcerer, “Geovanni!”
“Well, hello there Miss Sky,” Geovanni stroked the girl’s hair before looking up at Sarv, who was now panting heavily, the nun’s movements woozy, “Miss Sarvente, are you alright?”
“I’m….fine….just….tired,” Sarv responded, leaning against Ruv who simply gave a silent nod towards the sorcerer who nodded in return.
“I would guess you’ve all had quite the morning,” Geovanni gave a small smile, much to Sarv and Sky’s scoff, “You were all doing so well a few days ago, what happened?”
No one had responded, the sorcerer looking up at Ruv.
“They are not the exact right match for each other,” the man explained.
“Yes, well, that doesn’t exactly explained what had occurred,” Geovanni gave a fake smile, only to be met with a thumbs up from the man, before looking down at Sky who was sticking her tongue out at Sarv, the nun imitating the insult, “Sky, would you like to explain what happened?”
“Hmph!” the girl responded before pressing her face against the sorcerer's vest.
“Alright then…...Sarvente?” Geovanni looked up at the nun who was straightening her veils once again, the small cross on the left side of her cap crooked, Sarv looking up at attention before clearing her throat, regaining composure.
“Well, this little devil of a child had been fairly nervous when it came to the accommodation we had given her upstairs, so we had assured her that this church was a safe haven of repent, sympathy, and second chances, so she had decided to recount the events that had transpired through her life which, unknown to myself or Ruv, had included crucifying the daughter of those infamous demons!” Sarv crossed her arms in anger, “I, of course, was shocked at this revelation, but as an esteemed follower of God, I had allowed her to start anew though the usage of prayers and daily mass, but she refused!”
“It was my choice!” Sky exclaimed.
“Well, this situation seems fairly familiar,” Geovanni sighed, “Haven’t you been through this already?”
“Yes, well, I would have accepted an alternative way of penance from her, but she constantly called my teachings and prayers “stupid” and “a waste of time” throughout our one-to-one discussion about how she could better improve on her emotional and mental health, not to mention continously trying to force me into my less than favorable demonic form for the sake of entertainment,” Sarv huffed, “I swear, she is the most disgraceful child, second to that boy and his beloved.”
“I see….” Geovanni looked down at Sky who still had her head pressed against his shirt, “Sky, is this true?”
“Mmmph, mphm, mph!” Sky mumbled, her voice muffled against his clothing.
“Come now, I know you’re trying to hide the truth, but if you won’t tell me, I’ll just have to believe Sarvente’s words-”
“No, no, I’ll talk!” Sky exclaimed, looking at the man with frantic worry before pulling away, placing her hands within her hoodie, “It was…..um….it’s only that….erm….argh, fine it’s true!”
“Why would you consider speaking ill of Miss Sarvente’s teachings, especially after she had allowed you to stay with her in this church?” Geovanni crossed his arms in disappointment, “And why try to change her into her demonic variation when we are wanting to keep our operation a secret from any organizations who wish to disrupt us.”
“Hmph, well I just wanted…..I…..Ijustwantedtocheckifshepadsherbreasts!”
“Pardon me?”
“I wanted to see if she pads her breasts!” Sky exclaimed, “There, are you happy?!”
“W-WHAT?!” Sarv cried while hugging her chest, the nun’s face blushing red while Ruv’s eyes only slightly widened.
“O-Oh, I see….?” Geovanni’s face also grew a small tint of red before the sorcerer's shook his head, looking back at Sarv with a respectful look, “Well, Miss Sarvente, if you wouldn’t mind ending this silly argument, would you answer Sky’s query?”
“Y-You cannot be serious!” Sarv tried to protest, but everyone's unwavering expressions answered her question, “Fine, if you wish to know, I do not add any enhancements that God hasn't already laid upon me to my pure or impure forms, alright?”
“See, everything is solved, right?” Geovanni looked down, though Sky’s expression still remained rather somber, “Sky, are you sure you are doing alright. As much as I do not wish to pursue something that is personal to yourself, that can’t be the only reason towards your disrespectful nature, can it?”
“I-I…” Sky took a deep breath, weaving her hands through her hair as she pushed it back, “It’s just that, when Sarv was talking about second chances and what happened to her when she tried to go to heaven, I thought that I could be the next one something like that happens to.
I thought that my actions are so unforgivable I could never even try to go past them and start a new life when everyone knows what I did, even someone as cool as her.
Because that’s what I am, right?
What I’ll always be…….some stupid fangirl.
A-And there’s always this voice in my head that tells me to keep going after Boyfriend, that he’s my perfect match, and then that makes me think that I’ve gone back to square one, someone who’s a bad person, who doesn’t deserve happiness like the rest of you.”
Sky looked around the main hall, staring into everyone’s faces, though the girl herself didn’t cry when talking within this self-deprecating tone of hers like she had done before.
Her eyes, her expression, was more so…..tired.
That was all she had felt, tired of the voice inside her head, tired of trying to move on, tired of believing there is more to her than just disappointment, and tired of herself for even trying to convince her innermost doubt to come into this world in the first place.
“Sky…” Geovanni embraced the girl who simply took a deep breath, letting the gesture warm her body, keep her negative thoughts away, even if it were for a moment, “I understand that you wish to heal yourself, and you believe that may seem impossible given the circumstances that you are in, but look around you.
Everyone within this room has uncertain circumstances, life events, even their own doubts that things might not turn out alright in the end, even if the Corrupta Nigrum had never even existed, and it is hard to convince oneself that you are the best individual you may be, but it is something we must strive to do in order to overcome the challenges we face day after day.
Although, as much as we wish to accomplish the full journey on our own, self-forgiveness is merely part of the route.
We rely on others to help guide our way to the end of the adventure of our own discovery, and we wish to help you as much as you wish to aid others.
Sarvente has Ruvyzvat have each other to lean on, to count on in terms of helping themselves through whatever situation they are in, as supernaturally large as it may be, you have myself and the tankmen to rely on if you ever need help or feel self-doubt within yourself, and I….I have….”
Geovanni had stopped talking, contemplating to himself who in the world could be his closest friend, the individual who had inspired him to do all of this.
Springheel? That young witch from the school who he had often seen and talked to in his travels, oh what was her name, Myra?
Was he the one who had been alone?
“You have us…” Sarv answered the question for him, the sorcerer looking up at the nun who had given him a reassuring smile.
“Right, I have you all….” Geovanni nodded back, placing his attention back on Sky, “We all have our troubles, though the path of healing from your trinity of suffering can only come through communication, trust, and respect for those around you, among many other things, and if you cannot offer that, well, that is why we have those around us, to care and remind us of what is most important, what we are living for.”
“Hmm….” Sky contemplated the sorcerer’s words, “Can I trust you to help me, to not abandon me like my “friends” back home?”
“That depends,” Geovanni narrowed his eyes, “Can I trust you to assist me with my troubles, to not abandon my goals, my hopes, and my dreams like those closest to me had?”
“Y-Yes!” Sky exclaimed quickly before giving a small cough, “I-I mean, yeah, you can trust me.”
“Then you can trust me to help you,” Geovanni instinctually extended his hand out before Sky simply embraced him once again, the two pulling away as the sorcerer wiped away what he was surprised to find to be tears on his cheek, “Oh dear, I’m breaking down again, excuse me.”
“No need to apologize Mr. Gouge,” Sarv gave a warm smile, the nun herself also having shed a tear or two, Ruv still remaining a bit neutral, though his usual stern expression had softened somewhat, almost as if the man himself was contemplating on what had been said, “Your way with words and the connection you have with others is admirable and incredible.”
“Again Sarv, it is Geovanni,” the sorcerer corrected her before walking back to retrieve the groceries, Sky following a bit behind, “But thank you, for everything that is. In any case, this isn’t the time to experience a somber event in our lives, but to treat each other with kindness, and I have done such a thing as a reward for your cooperation with my plan and with each other in this unfortunate time we are living in.”
“Oh, you didn’t need to do that,” Sarv waved away at the sorcerer’s gift.
“No, I insist,” Geovanni walked back to the front of the main hall before walking towards the green house where Sarv and Ruv had allowed him to stay at when it came to discussing their plans or simply eating whatever the nun was capable of making, their generosity knowing no bounds, as his own, “I wished to do something nice, and simply coming to visit just to discuss our mission isn’t exactly stress free, now is it?”
“You’re truly kind,” Sarv followed the sorcerer who began unpacking the items from his bag which had contained a variety of vegetables such as carrots, leaks, tomatoes, and other long or small foods, the bottle of an unbranded soda, plastic cups and plates, a bucket of napoleon ice cream, an item that momentarily confused the nun, and…..a carefully wrapped and baked candy bunny.
“I’ve decided to make some stew for lunch today, if you wouldn’t mind assisting me with the meal of course,” Geovanni began pulling back his sleeves as Sarv gave small nods of acknowledgement, Sky’s eyes widening with joy at the sight of the animal shaped sweet.
“Oh, this is so adorable!” the girl squealed, admiring the dessert, “Is this….?”
“Yes, that is for yourself,” Geovanni gave a small laugh, “I thought you might be quite somber due to my prolonged absence, so I went out of my way to specifically make a treat for you, though now I do feel a bit guilty at not preparing another two for Ruvyzvat and Sarvente-”
“You think too much of us!” Sarv waved away the sorcerer's concerns, “It is quite alright, Ruv doesn’t really like sweets anyway, and I have already had too much this month alone.”
“Well then, I suppose that alleviates my concerns a small amount,” Geovanni smiled before beginning to grab the ingredients and walking toward the doorway which led to the living section of the church, “Sarvente, would you mind directing me towards your kitchen?”
“Not at all, right this way!” the nun began carrying the rest of the items, leaving Sky to admire her reward before stopping at the exit of the greenhouse, looking back at the girl, “Oh, and Sky?”
“Hmm?” the girl looked back at Sarv, holding the small bunny within both her palms with gentle precision and care.
“You do deserve second chances,” the nun gave a sincere smile, “And I will help you, in your own preferred way of course.”
“Sarv…” Sky stared at her before giving a nod, a spark of hope in her eyes, “Right, thank you.”
Sarv simply nodded before humming a tune, following behind Geovanni as Ruv joined the two soon after, looking out towards Sky who had returned to affectionately patting the candied animal, the man simply sighing, his grip on the wall tightening a small bit, cracks beginning to form underneath his hands, as a distant memory, one containing the faces, the eyes of those children and the families they belong to, families he had hurt.
Those innocent eyes and smiles.
He shook his head, remembering Sarv’s teachings that explained how an individual’s actions didn’t define who they are, but rather how they responded to them is what had mattered most to a person’s future.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lunch had come and gone, the conversations the group had made throughout such a time being enough to remember such an event, speaking of the teachings that Sarv lived for, the non-violent adventures Ruv had gone on throughout his travels along the northeastern portion of the world, Sky’s own world beyond their own, and Geovanni’s experiences in the arcane world, including the variety of people who he had passed by during his travels.
Strangely enough, during dessert, Sky hadn’t eaten the candy bunny, insisting on keeping it refrigerated so she could think of the sorcerer’s kindness whenever he was away, not to mention Sarv’s continual hesitation in eating the ice cream, though Geovanni hadn’t thought anything of it.
Instead, he had grinned when the other three had begun conversing among themselves, thinking that if even Ruv had opened up during this visit, then he had definitely been going in the right direction in terms of getting the group to love-er-cooperate with each other like a family-no-team, yes, that’s what they were doing.
Unfortunately, they still had a mission to complete and such niceties would have to end soon.
“Alright people, it is time to go over what we have so far in terms of our plan,” Geovanni began, having made everyone sit towards the back of the main hall within the church, “Sarvente, would you start?”
“Of course,” the nun stood up, holding a few pages of their plan that the sorcerer had written out for her, “The reason we are gathering Blacyx, a group of entities that branched off of but are still connected to the Corrupta Nigrum, a being of raw destructive energy and disharmony that, if ever released, would destroy all realities with its mere presence, though God, our Allfather, had sealed him away.
However, when dimensions had begun appearing, the small holes that allowed them to open within our world had also led it to follow through, spilling into various realities including this one and infecting people with its form.
These creatures are the mentioned Blacyx who, if pieces of the Corrupta Nigrum are removed from, will cause it to form into its whole part, a piece of it that, however small it may be, can still pose a threat to our reality, turning it into those that are already corrupted.
Our world, unlike many others that exist adjacent to it, has a prophecy of sorts in which the daughter of two demons will possess a gateway that, if ever released through her feeling some form of disheartened emotions, could release the largest variant of the being that we have seen.
Our mission is to gather as much of the Blacyx as possible, though the searching spell that I and Geovanni have created, so that we can annihilate the creature ahead of time, have Ruv placed in charge of any necessary communications between all of us, then allow Girlfriend, the Filia Obumbratio, or daughter of shadows, to release the being into our world.
That’s where Sky, a Blacyx herself, comes in.
Using her ability to manifest personal pocket dimensions, she should be able to trap the being inside while still remaining anchored to our dimension and form of reality.”
“What do you mean should be?” Sky questioned.
“This is all extremely experimental of course,” Geovanni admitted, “Though seeing what you had done back in the militarized zone, it should be as close as we can predict to being accurate in terms of what will really occur, but do you know the full extent of your manifest?”
“No, I’ve only used it once before, not including when I first met you, but I’m able to control it pretty well, though my emotions on the other hand….” Sky gave a sheepish smile.
“Well, then it would be best if you learn how to control them as soon as possible,” Sarv suggested, Ruv nodding in agreement.
“It is better to have everything prepared and readied ahead of time in order to reduce any casualties when the time ever comes,” Ruv explained.
“I couldn’t have said it better myself,” Geovanni gave an approving nod towards the man who simply responded with his usual neutral expression, “Which is the secondary reason to why I had visited you all today. I have decided that we can’t all be everywhere at once in terms of watching Boyfriend and Girlfriend, though I have the capabilities to watch over the latter, so I have decided to visit someone who can.”
“Another member to be added into our group?” Sarv asked.
“Exactly,” the sorcerer responded, looking down at his hands, “Although I am nearly incapable of creating nor keeping portals open for a large amount of time, though with Sarvente’s assistance, we could perhaps keep allow some form of transportation, and you all can watch from this side as I try to reason with him.”
“Him?” Ruv questioned.
“A interdimensional entity capable of perceiving all of time and space, hidden behind a smile of a mask that I still have trouble determined was real or not, though he mostly uses it to watch and admire Boyfriend like some type of extreme fanatic,” Geovanni explained before looking over at Sky, “Almost like yourself, Sky.”
“H-Hey, there are other people who are fans of Boyfriend, you know?” the girl crossed her arms with a pout.
“Fair enough,” the sorcerer nodded, “Anyway, have we received any signs of additional Blacyx around the area or beyond it, Sarvente?”
“Not that I am aware of,” the nun shook her head.
“Very well then, let us begin,” Geovanni clapped his hands together before turning around and distancing them once again.
A long yellow string of light connected the center of both his palms, the sorcerer moving his hands in varying gestures as rotating and circumnavigating circles with arcane symbols surrounded the space between his fingertips, before a spark began being outlined on the ground in front of him, drawing out a symbol with a variety of symbols within its interior area, a warm aura of light washing over the four of them.
“Sarv, if you would cast an enhancement spell please,” Geovanni called out as Sarv, mesmerized by the ornate imagery of the sorcerer's magic, snapped back to reality.
“Oh, right!” the nun exclaimed before rushing to his side, taking a deep breath as a black fog expelled from all her facial openings before consuming her body in darkness before such clouds expelled outward, a demonic version of the nun taking its place as Sarv extended her hands outward, a pink glow enveloping them.
In doing so, the symbols within the circle, and the shape’s outline as well, began to radiate a lavender hue from their edges, adding a layer of depth to the image it portrayed.
The ground underneath the group vibrated furiously before cracks emitting a red glow erupted from the side of the amalgamation representing Sarv and Geovanni’s magical efforts, a small shimmer beginning to form above the center of the circle, similar to that of Sky’s back in the battleground.
A thin line began appearing, a mixture of yellow and pink swirling around it before it slowly began expanding, a sound akin to ripping paper being heard from it, until it had fully opened, a swirling pool of colors appearing inside of it which cleared like fog on a window, showing what lay beyond this gateway.
Silhouettes of trees were shown dotting an area composed of an infinitely empty land of pink ground, the trees themselves geometrically inaccurate, their leaves almost seeming to be squares and octagons rather than their normal elliptical shapes.
“What in the world….?” Sarv took a step forward before Geovanni held out his hand to stop her.
“This portal should hold well enough, though we do not want it to close too quickly, especially since it is quite unstable with both mine and Savente’s inexperience in dealing with transportational gateways to entirely new dimensions, and we definitely do not want to allow any more of the Corrupta Nigrum to slip into our universe and reality, so I will try to be as quick as I can,” Geovanni explained before taking a step forward, entering the circle of symbols, his shoes beginning to liquify, small black particles entering the portal itself, before the sorcerer turned back with a small nod, “Alright, wish me luck.”
Ruv and Sky simply nodded in return before the sorcerer continued walking, his entire body liquifying and compressing into a thin line of blob that more easily entered the gateway, disappearing entirely from this world, a blurry icon of his body being seen from across the portal’s view.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
From Geovanni’s point of view, the world was just as simplistic as it appeared from first being viewed by the group, a barren and infinite space of a pink hue with only polygonal trees left in it to add some form of decoration and uniqueness to its appearance, though it never really mattered what it looked like, especially when he had a mission to complete.
“Hello?” the sorcerer called out, his voice predictably echoing out into the space.
Unfortunately, no voice had called back.
“Is our individual not present?” Sarv asked through the portal, Geovanni looking around the area.
“Hmm, this is the same location I had observed when Boyfriend and Girlfriend had first been transported here,” he turned back to look at the group when, suddenly, all of their eyes had widened in fear, “Perhaps there was a mistake with the spell itself, or maybe he has already left…...wait, what’s wrong?”
“Behind you…” Sky pointed.
“Oh dear…” Geovanni squeezed his eyes shut before slowly turning around, the sorcerer’s body shaking vigorously without even witnessing the very being he had seen beforehand, although such an indirect perspective from the past couldn’t compare to seeing the creature up close.
Opening his eyes, Geovanni could nearly feel his heart stop as in front of him lay an amalgamation of a creature with purple skin, golden outlines that almost appeared to be armor at first glance before realizing it was connected to its body, a crown of the same material and texture, two hooks for feet, a creepily large smile with a dry mouth, and even drier eyes bulging out of its sockets, the creature standing completely still to the point where the sorcerer couldn’t tell if it was even breathing.
“What in the world is that monstrosity?” Sarv whispered, Ruv taking a step forward, placing his arms in front of both the nun and Sky, glaring at the creature who simply continued staring at Geovanni.
“Starecrown….” Geovanni answered, taking a deep gulp before moving forward a small bit, “H-Hello there!”
The sorcerer extended his hand out to the creature who simply continued to stare on indefinitely, though it truly did feel like he was looking for something despite simply seeming to stare off into space, examining the very essence of Geovanni’s own soul.
“U-Um, is he…..dead?” Sky commented before jumping as Starecrown’s eyes slowly moved to look at her beyond the gateway, his dry smile widening even more.
Immediately, the creature let out an excruciating scream as Geovanni fell to his knees, covering his ears as he nearly felt all the air leave his lungs, if his heart hadn’t almost given out first, the group outside the portal also doing the same, Starecrown suddenly appearing in front of the portal’s screen in a blink of an eye, almost as if he had been there the entire time.
“Ooooo, Sky, my dearest friend, so we finally meet!” Starecrown called out to the girl in a raspy, almost incomprehensible voice, his eyes widening with pure and utter joy that just about contrasted his horrific appearance.
“Wha, huh?” Sky opened her eyes upon hearing the creature’s voice, shakingly pointing towards him, “Y-You, you’re the one who’s been…..no, I-I…..you’re not…”
“Hrng! Alright then, that was quite painful….” Geovanni slowly stood up, placing his hand above his heart, just to ensure it was still beating, before taking a deep breath and giving a small smile, “Ah, so I see you’ve already met Sky.”
“Oh yes, we’ve been communicating quite often, and she has a magnificent voice!” Starecrown explained, though he didn’t remove his eyes from the girl, causing her understandable discomfort.
“You’re the voice i-in my head, a-aren’t y-you?” Sky asked, taking a few steps back before sitting down on the pew, such a large distance doing nothing to decrease the unsettling gaze Starecrown had set on her.
This creature was the voice guiding her actions, her path, to true love this whole time?
No, something that terrifying couldn’t possibly be any good.
“Well, fanatics are quite communicative, aren’t they?” Geovanni gave a nervous grin before once again extending his hand at the creature, “Hello there, I am Geovanni Gouge, at your service.”
“Oh, I know you are…” Starecrown slowly turned his head towards the sorcerer, causing the man to simply wince, his extended hand trembling a small bit, before the creature simply smiled, extending one of his hooked feet towards Geovanni, shaking his hand slowly, it’s hook feeling somewhat metallic and cold to the touch.
“Do you now?” Geovanni responded with a nervous smile.
“Indeed darling, I know all of you quite well….” Starecrown continued, pointing his hook towards his eye, “We’re both perceivers of Boyfriend’s endeavours, are we not?”
“O-Oh, I believe I understand what you mean,” Geovanni’s concerned expression shifted to that of contentedness and familiarity, “From what understand of your nature as an interdimensional entity, of which I know little of, you follow Boyfriend’s journey through viewing him in whatever spacial area he occupies throughout time and space respectively, although I am afraid to inform you that my primary directive is in protecting and observing Boyfriend’s beloved, Girlfriend, although I must say I am quite a fan of yours.”
“A fan…..of me?” Starecrown paused for a moment before abruptly screaming once again, terrifying and shocking everyone around him as the creature’s body momentarily inverted itself into a red and white monstrous version of itself in which hundreds upon millions of teeth appeared around its body, its tongue dropping to the floor before picking itself back up, the creature returning to its neutral state, “Oh I am so honored to have an individual such as yourself within my presence!”
“The feeling is….mutual?” the sorcerer smiled in return, “I must say, and please do not take any offense to my words, but you are far nicer than your appearance led me to believe, as much as I do not like making accusations without properly understanding the situation of an individual first.”
“Quite true…” Starecrown turned back to look at those beyond the portal, Sky still in some form of shock from the entire ordeal, “It is so much fun to be standing within you all at this very moment, so much so that I would absolutely adore seeing your vocal chords perform beautifully…..especially you, Sky.”
“M-Me…?” the girl responded timidly.
“A superfan of Boyfriend, and one who lures him into an extradimensional void of all places?” Starecrown’s smile widened even more, “It seems as if we have much to discuss. Our commonalities are quite wonderful indeed!”
“As much as I would love to sing with you, I am afraid we don't have much time for simple niceties, so I implore you to please listen to the request I have come here to discuss with you,” Geovanni instinctually gave a small bow.
“Mmmm, go on….” Starecrown tilted its head a small bit.
“We have a mission to accomplish, this being the complete destructions and banishment of an extra dimensional entity such as yourself that aims to destroy that aims to destroy and annihilate all of our reality and many others, though its spread is thin and broadened, and one piece of it lays dormant within our world at this very moment,” the sorcerer began to explain.
“Ah, yes, I remember witnessing such an event the other week,” Starcrown interrupted, “You are referring to Girlfriend’s sudden outburst, right?”
“Unfortunately yes, so I have decided to gather the strongest and adept individuals I have seen or know of and together we can place a stop to this entire circumstance, for not only Boyfriend’s safety, but the entire world’s,” Geovanni explained, the creature slowly decreasing in height, contemplating a potential response.
Boyfriend loved the world and its people, right?
Without the world, his career would be over!
“Very well!” Starecrown exclaimed, immediately growing in height until he stood almost seven feet tall, far exceeding Geovanni’s own stature, the sorcerer looking back up at the creature’s unblinking gaze, “Tell me what I must do, for Boyfriend's sake!”
“Someone’s obsessed….” Sky mumbled ironically, rubbing her temples as the situation she was in became far clearer to digest and understand.
“Glorious!” Geovanni clapped his hands together once more, “I will be sure to tell him what you have agreed to, but for now, let me explain your role in this entire situation, and you all listen as well, alright?”
“S-Sure thing, but….” Sarv looked over at Starecrown’s rather terrifying expression, “Do we really need to depend on this demon’s assistance for a task we are rather fine doing on our own?”
“Demon….?” Starecrown tilted its head far beyond the average limit of a normal person, “Dear, I am but a simple angel in search of observing Boyfriend’s journey with great interest.”
“An angel?” Sarv questioned.
“Most definitely! Here, allow me to demonstrate….” Starecrown suggested before twisting his body once again.
Teeth and tongues slithering around what appeared to be a mound of flesh that had once been his body before it began shaking vigorously, a loud scream erupting from within it as light exploding forth, building everyone momentarily before Geovanni looked back over at where the creature had stood, the entity now in its place being far easier to bare witness to, it having much of the same design as Starecrown’s previous form with an addition of a pair of wings, a rotating broken halo, and some strange symbol on the creature’s forehead as he finally blinked with a sigh of satisfaction.
“Ah, much better….” Starecrown began blinking rapidly.
“That’s right, I forgot about your true form,” Geovanni nodded, “I was beginning to wonder if I had simply imagined that part of Boyfriend’s journey.”
“So, this is an angel….?” Sarv gripped onto her shirt, her eyes narrowing down, not in suspicion or anger, but in some form of fear, “Does this mean y-you know the Allfather?”
“I…..don’t…..know…..” Starecrown responded slowly, his stare seeming far more genuine than creepy in this new form.
“Oh, alright then….” Sarv sighed, seemingly out of relief, although a part of her was disappointed at the lack of a connection between the two.
“Please, we cannot keep conversing!” Geovanni exclaimed before the sound of static came from the portal which had momentarily flickered in and out, signaling that time was almost up, “Alright, here’s what I need from you. You are an interdimensional entity that can view time and space as you please, so I require that you continue monitoring Boyfriend, even when he is not singing against his foes, and report any unusual changes towards me, even if they seem minute in nature, though I also request that you try and see if you can perceive the Corrupta Nigrum itself, observing its changes and attempts to enter our reality, and report such findings back to myself or Lady Sarvente, understood?”
“I believe so, yes….” Starecrown gave a slow nod.
“Good!” Geovanni interjected before running towards the portal which was flickering in and out even more, “I hope we can speak soon, especially as new friends, but until then, I bid you goodbye!”
“Until we next meet!” Starecrown waved as the sorcerer jumped back towards the portal, being caught by Sarvente and Ruv, as it closed behind him, the symbols on the around immediately bursting into flames as he rolled away from them as they began to fade away with the fire.
“Well that was…..interesting,” Sarv commented as Geovanni began to stand up, brushing off the little bit of ash that had stained his pants, nodding in agreement.
“Yes, but I do hope he is capable of completing our request,” Geovanni sighed, “The more eyes we have around the world, the better.”
“So that’s why you wanted that freak to join the mission?!” Sky exclaimed, standing up from the pew with an angered expression.
“Sky, I-I wasn’t aware that you had such a connection with him, I swear!” Geovanni responded.
“Yeah, I bet you didn’t!” Sky retorted, crossing her arms, small tears of fear trickling down her face, “That thing was the whole reason why I…...why I…….whatever, I’m gonna take a walk.”
“Sky, I….” Geovanni began before Sky had already turned around, walking down the aisle before leaving the building.
“I will go and talk to her,” Sarv began before Ruv placed his hand in front of her, shaking his head.
“HeT, I’ll go, you stay here in case anybody wants to join the church,” Ruv explained.
“Ruv, you know that doesn’t happen too often, and you’re still a wanted criminal-”
“I’ll be careful, I promise….” the man looked at Geovanni with certainty before beginning to turn around, Sarv placingher hand on his shoulder, embracing him.
“You’d better be,” she responded, “Any sign of danger and you return back home…..both of you, understand?”
“Of course….” Ruv nodded before leaving the building as well, Sarv and Geovanni being left behind in silence.
“It’s hard to give her peace of mind….” Geovanni rubbed his arms, sitting down on one of the pews as Sarv walked over, placing her hand on his shoulder.
“She just needs some time to heal,” the nun explained with a warm smile, “She does feel grateful for your help, even if she doesn’t show it often.”
“I suppose….” Geovanni gave an uncertain smile in return, “Sarvente, may I make a request?”
“Of course,” the nun sat down next to the sorcerer.
“May we begin a small praying session right now?” he asked, “It helps calm my nerves a small bit.”
“Prayer?!” Sarv exclaimed in excitement before coughing, returning her composure, “Absolutely, but do you remember yours?”
“Unfortunately not….” the sorcerer admitted.
“That’s fine, I’ll help,” Sarv placed her hands together as Geovanni imitated the gesture, “Now then, follow me.”
With the silence of the church leading their words, the nun and the sorcerer began their statements for hope towards the uncertain future they were only just beginning, and perhaps light could feel the darkness that would inevitably arrive to meet them.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Starecrown hummed a cheerful melody, this being one of the songs Boyfriend had sung with Daddy Dearest, onc of the first instances that he had seen the boy’s magnificent performance on the stage, leading to his eventual popularity among the city and beyond this very world itself, opening a large screen in from of him as it flickered to life, showing the creature’s idol walking besides Girlfriend and another girl, one with darkened skin and curly black hair, a look of uncertainty in the boy’s eyes, but Starecrown was far too excited in seeing his hero to notice.
“Enjoying the view….?” a calm, yet demonic voice spoke out behind the creature as Starecrown turned around with a welcoming smile.
“Oh most definitely!” the creature responded.
The figure leaned down, itself being a tall and slender creature of black with a laid crescent shaped face resembling a banana, hundreds of smiling teeth looking down at Starecrown’s important activity, placing its clawed hands on the creature’s shoulder.
“Fred is going to be fairly angry when he hears you are assisting Boyfriend without his explicit permission, you know,” the figure said.
“Oh I’m sure he’ll be alright this once….” Starecrown responded, keeping his eyes on Boyfriend through the screen.
“And who exactly is it that you are doing this for?” the figure asked.
“Geovanni Gouge, but you already knew that.”
“I did…...and who is this against again?”
“The Corrupta Nigrum….”
“Hmm, I haven’t heard that name in a while.”
“Are the AADL still trying to contain it?”
“Yes, but it gives us a chance to escape their perception.”
“Does that mean we should help them fight it?”
“Fred would say no, but I honestly do not care at the moment, so have a blast.”
“Marvelous!”
“If you wouldn’t mind however, I must speak with Fred about the current state of the Corrupta Nigrum itself, especially since it is a portion of your mission.”
“Thank you once again!”
“Oh pay no mind to it,” the figure melted back into the ground with a grin, “I am not doing this for you, but for my own entertainment, though there is a thin line between the two. See you later Starecrown.”
“Goodbye Banana Demon….”

Friday Night Funkin Original Story (Corrupta Nigrum) [Part 3: Resistant Heart]
Part 3: Resistant Heart
“I will never get your obsession with these things,” Boyfriend commented, looking down at the olive covered pizza that lay in front of both he and Girlfriend in the local pizzeria they decided to visit after much hesitation by Boyfriend himself after the “Tabi Incident” that had occured in another restaurant a few weeks ago.
“Hmm, what do you mean?” Girlfriend responded, an entire slice of olive pizza immediately being consumed as if it were a mere crumb, the girl’s jaw opened wider than any average human.
The very sight of such a thing caused the Boyfriend to momentarily look away before taking his own pepperoni slice from the second half of the pie they ordered.
“Nothing…” Boyfriend responded, clearing his throat, the ability to speak still being something rather strange to the boy as he looked around the establishment.
The pizzeria was one of the most recently opened places in Melo Dee City and that fact alone made Boyfriend rather anxious to continue this “date” any further, too tired and rather irritated if they had to encounter yet another stranger who either did not like him dating Girlfriend, were sent by Daddy Dearest to end his path in a happy life with his beloved, did not like Girlfriend herself for strange reasons he couldn’t wrap his head around, or most likely hated Daddy Dearest himself and wanted to take their anger out on the ex-rockstar and his daughter which meant he would be included into the mix of blame for an unfair reason, though he couldn’t turn down a rap battle.
“Hey, is everything okay?” Girlfriend asked as the boy jolted to attention, a large slab of tomato sauce stuck to the girl’s face as Boyfriend couldn’t help but to give a small smile and clean it off with his napkin.
“No, everything’s fine,” Boyfriend responded before sitting back down in his seat, the busy sound of everyone around them talking easing his nerves a little bit, as much as having Girlfriend with him had also done.
Then he looked down.
On his slice of pizza, the pepperoni slices looked up at him, almost as if they were reddened eyes like those of Senpai in what he believed to be a dream or hallucination, and it seemed as if he was the same instance as he had previously thought of being.
“Leave….her….” it whispered in a raspy voice that was reminiscent of the spirit trapped within the husk of Senpai’s body.
“Waaaaah!” Boyfriend slapped the slice away, the pizza falling on the floor with a squelch before the pizzeria turned silent for a moment, the boy responded with a nervous laugh before picking up the mess he had made and placing the slice back onto his plate, looking up, only to be met with a equally concerned and skeptical expression from Girlfriend, “Um, what?”
“Something’s going on with you,” Girlfriend grabbed another slice, pointing it at the boy, “And I think I know what…?”
“You do?” Boyfriend titled his head in confusion, unsure of what she meant, seeing as he was merely tired.
“Yeah…..you’re still thinking about what Geovanni told us, aren’t you?” Girlfriend said slowly, beginning to eat her food at an equally slower rate.
“U-Umm….” was all Boyfriend could mutter, rubbing his arm which signaled that he had been thinking about it at least once.
“Just forget what you heard-”
“It’s kind of hard to do that, you know?” Boyfriend interrupted the girl, his tone a bit more bitter than he would’ve liked.
“What are you talking about?” Girlfriend asked, placing down her slice.
“You know very well what I’m talking about!” Boyfriend exclaimed, trying his best to keep his voice down so that they didn’t draw any unwanted attention, “Geovanni’s whole spiel about you having something inside you?”
“He’s crazy, don’t listen to him.”
“But this isn’t the first time something like this has happened, y'know?” Boyfriend continued, “Remember Tabi?”
The name of her ex hit Girlfriend hard, the girl wincing at the mention of the man before continuing to chew what remained of her food in her mouth, her expression now more irritated than surprised.
“What about him?” she asked.
“He said that you were the reason why he looked the way he did, why he couldn’t go back to a normal life, and that you used him in order to get what you wanted before throwing him away!” Boyfriend continued, “At first I thought that he was exaggerating, that it was your pops that could’ve been the cause behind all of this, but after encountering dangerous people these last few months, and seeing how you deal with our battles, I’m starting to….”
With those words, Boyfriend fell silent, only now noticing Girlfriend’s widened gaze as the girl slowly narrowed her eyes once again.
“You’re starting to what, Boyfriend?” Girlfriend asked slowly.
“I….I’m just scared,” Boyfriend retraced back on his seat, leaning backwards with a sigh as he gripped the table, Girlfriend’s expression now shifting to that of concern.
“Of me…?” his beloved asked, nearing the verge of tears.
“Of this, our relationship!” Boyfriend leaned forward once again, “How is it going to work if you don’t tell me things like this, about what’s going on in your past?”
“Those things are private and personal for a reason, Boyfriend…” Girlfriend said in a somber tone.
“Don’t you at least trust me to understand?” Boyfriend continued.
“Of course I trust you, but this is different….” Girlfriend explained.
“How?”
“My life before I met you, hell, before I met Tabi, it’s been bits and blurs that I can’t really remember, but I don’t want to remember them if it means that others are going to get hurt,” Girlfriend’s eyes quivered as the girl hugged herself, “When I was little, daddy told me that I didn’t have to worry about my past, that I was just a demon and that that’s what mattered in my life, helping them bring music to the world while remaining as happy as I could possibly be, but things got a lot harder when I fell in love with guys or became friends with other people.
Sooner or later I would get upset, even if it was for a little bit, and things never turned out good for either of us, so I decided to not go after people by myself, to not get me or anybody else in danger, and to just let daddy figure out what to do with the people that I was upset with.
I mean, I was “daddy’s little girl,” right?” Girlfriend tried and momentarily failed to hold back her tears, choking her words through them.
“I get it, you know?” Boyfriend admitted with a sigh, “It’s hard being different, getting treated like a weirdo because you’re not like anybody else, so you try and get into a relationship but things don’t turn out well because the one you love is dangerous and you’re afraid of them or they’re afraid of you…...but, that doesn’t make it right to hurt them or for them to hurt you.
Trust me, a good relationship requires good communication and understanding with one another.
And that’s all I’m asking you for, that you communicate with me, just a little bit more.”
Girlfriend looked at Boyfriend with hesitant but understanding eyes as she gave a shaky nod, dabbing her eyes with her napkin before taking a sip from her glass of wine to the side as Boyfriend drank from his soda can, mostly to ease the tension between the two.
“Alright, alright, I’ll try to control myself, and I’ll understand you just a bit more, but please, don’t rush me,” Girlfriend gave her beloved a small smile, placing her hand on top of his, “I want to take some time to know me a little more before I can give you all my secrets, kay?”
“Absolutely, take all the time you need,” Boyfriend gave a determined smile as the two continued on.
While the boy did indeed trust his girlfriend, a small spark of concern and hesitation lay on his chest, though whether that had been due to the guilt of straying away from his promise of freeing the spirit from Senpai and their virtual prison or from the fact that he was still somewhat afraid of her after all the demons and abominations they faced was something he was still incredible unsure of.
Though perhaps that sorcerer could help him understand.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Not long had truly passed, perhaps four days to a week, before one of the first Blacyx were encountered by Sarv as she contacted Geovanni, the sorcerer’s phone picking up as the sorcerer struggled to take another step, the location he had gotten in the morning from the nun being quite a ways away from the main city, more so into the rural outskirts of the country, a trip which had taken him nearly five hours, including having to pay for a bus ticket and walking most of the way, though he had prepared for the trip with a few granola bars and and water bottles.
Sarv had actually called him at around 6:00 AM and it was currently 10:27 AM, meaning that afternoon was approaching fast, so he had better find the solution to their problems quickly.
Bzzt!
Geovanni went into his pocket, taking out his phone as Sarv’s number appeared on screen with of course her icon of a cross, the sorcerer placing close to his ear as he continued, now walking on a sandy terrain that felt more so like the middle of nowhere rather than a location an individual would go to in the first place.
A Blacyx wouldn’t need to worry about these factors by their own definition however, so it was more understandable as to the environment.
However, from the look of the place and overall form that the the girl had taken Boyfriend and Girlfriend during his observation, a barren field of sand and sunbeams never really seemed like the type of place she would ever go to in the first place, especially when Boyfriend was deeper inside the city.
“Hello?” he finally called into the phone.
“Greetings, Geovanni!” Sarv’s cheery voice called through the phone, though the nun’s voice was far deeper and distorted, meaning that she was currently in her demonic form, “Have you found the Blacyx as of yet?”
“No, though it does seem quite unusual that she would be out here of all places,” Geovanni responded, looking around the peachy landscape with a few tumbleweeds passing along his trail, “Are we sure she isn’t in some area of containment? There are other organizations and parties besides ourselves that feel the need to act in a more aggressive and organized manner than we could ever could, whether it’s for “the greater good” or more malevolent options of containment, though I don’t believe they understand what a Blacyx even is in the first place.”
“Well then, we’re lucky we get to do their job for them, huh?” Sarv responded with a giggle as Geovanni simply gave a tired chuckle, the sorcerer hearing a grunt from the phone’s background, presumingly Ruv hearing in on their conversation.
“I suppose we are, though I would assume getting them to listen to us would be rather pointless, so I am still thankful that you decided to assist me,” the sorcerer continued walking, kicking a small pebble that stood in front of him, “There are many magical users within our world, though you are one of the more powerful ones I have found, though I hope you don’t envy any others I happen to find on our mission, heh?”
“Hey, envy is a sin!” Sarv huffed, the sorcerer giving a small laugh before continuing forward, a minute or two of silence passing by before Sarv spoke out, “Geovanni, you said you knew this girl, right?”
“Not personally, no, but I have observed her interactions with Boyfriend and Girlfriend in the past, though her cooperation is far easier said than done considering how their last interaction had resulted in, but I believe I can manage getting through to her…...I tend to mostly be good for emotional connections believe it or not,” the sorcerer continued on.
“I see…..well, I have full confidence in your intentions, though whether that was a mistake or not is yet to be seen,” Sarv explained as the sorcerer simply gave a slight nod, though the nun couldn’t see.
Narrowing his eyes, up ahead there seemed to be multiple large columns of smoke rising into the air, large walls appearing where the road had ended, definitely not in any legal manner either, though the location and smoke began to make sense to Geovanni who gave a sigh as soon as he heard gunshots firing from inside the structure.
“Oh you’ve got to be kidding me…” the sorcerer groaned.
“What, what is it?” Sarv called out as Geovanni once again brought his necklace out from under his vest, flicking on it as the metallic eye opened once more, magical circles surrounding his body like armor before he stuffed itr back underneath his collar.
The sorcerer continued walking before stopping in front of the wall’s entrance which merely had a flimsy gate standing between him and his targeted individual, and from the top of the walls lay two outposts with two figures standing within each one respectively, immediately drawing sniper rifles from the shadows cast inside the posts themselves, sunlight entering the structure as Geovanni got a good look at average height men with black armor surrounding their bodies and boots, white visors in front of their eyes, a pointed spike on their inky black helmets, and large smug grins across their face.
“Ugh, tankmen…” was all the sorcerer said before closing the phone and placing it in his pocket, looking up at the soldiers with a irritated but respectful glare, “Greetings gentlemen, I was wondering if you can help me with-”
“Now I’m gonna have to stop you right there pal,” the left tankman had interjected, “This area is off limits to punks like you.”
“Punks like…..you know what, nevermind. I’m sorry, but I believe you must have misunderstood my intentions,” the sorcerer gave a nervous laugh, though he knew that it wouldn’t be easy to get through to people like these men, not like it ever was in the first place, “I’m looking for-”
“Rex, I don’t think this man was listening to you,” the right tankman responded, once again interrupting Geovanni who responded with a groan.
“Listen, I’m looking for-”
“You know what Mike, I think you’re right!” the left tankman, apparently named Rex, had agreed, cocking his rifle before leaning it against the surrounding walls around the outpost, readying it to fire at the sorcerer, “I don’t think this guy is getting the memo, so why don’t we show him what happens to punks like him?”
“I love how you think!” the right tankman, Mike, agreed eagerly, imitating the movement, though the hammer of the man’s rifle was stuck for a moment, “Aw, you’ve got to be shittin me!”
“What’s wrong?” Rex asked.
“Goddamn thing’s stuck again!” Mike responded, pulling on the gun part, only for it to remain static.
“Did you eat that PB&J again?!” Rex exclaimed, “I told you that peanut butter would stick to your goddamn gun!”
“Hey, my mom made it for me!” Mike protested, still trying, and failing, to pull back the hammer.
“Mike, you mom’s dead, all ours are!” Rex yelled back as Mike stopped for a moment.
“Crap, you’re right, then who….?” Mike stopped for a moment as Rex facepalmed, Geovanni simply tapping his foot against the sandy ground, rolling his eyes.
“It was that girl, you know, the new one?” Rex explained, “Blue hair, crazy eyes?”
“Right, right, but I still stand by what I said!” Mike announced, pulling on the trigger with a grunt.
“Fine, just hurry up!” Rex mumbled, placing his gun to his side.
“Hang on, are you both going to shoot me?!” Geovanni exclaimed, now finally having a chance to speak, “I just want to see someone. Actually, it’s that girl you both were mentioning.”
“Wait your turn, houdinne!” Rex called out before turning back to Mike impatiently, “Oh my loving lord, hurry the hell up!”
“I can’t do it if you keep yelling at me!” Mike cried out, tears somehow falling out of his visor.
“Oh….um…..you’re right, sorry man,” Rex quickly apologized.
“It’s just that I’m always under pressure and finally having someone to shoot up with you makes me feel nervous sometimes, you know?” Mike continued.
“Yeah, I get it, but just take your time alright?” Rex added with a smile.
“Thanks man…” Mike smiled back, wiping the tears from his face.
“What in the world is going on?” Geovanni mumbled to himself, shaking his head as he looked ahead of him, finding that there was nothing actually blocking the entrance to the decrepit city remains of this military battlezone, so he could just walk in.
“Hey, how about we play Yahtzee after this?” Rex suggested.
“R-Really dude?” Mike once again began crying, “Damn, you’re the best!”
“No dude, you’re the best….” Rex gave a confident nod.
“Dude…” Mike gasped.
“Alright, I suppose I’ll just make my way inside,” Geovanni announced walking toward the entrance when, by the holy power of bromance, Mike pulled back on the hammer with a click, his rifle ready to be fired.
“Aha! You’re not going anywhere!” Mike exclaimed as Rex too pointed his gun at the sorcerer who simply gave an unamused expression, continuing to walk, “H-Hey, don’t ignore us! Rex, let’s take this guy out together!”
And with that, both tankmen began firing at Geovanni, loud blasts and shots being heard throughout the military zone.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Deeper inside the battleground however, the gunshots of Rex and Mike couldn’t be heard over the dozens of other gunshots as tankmen were battling their adversaries and enemies from the secondary commander, nemis and ex-friend of Corporal John Captain himself, as tanks rolled on the earth and fights ensued every corner of the rubble within the city.
John Captain however, has better things to do rather than dealing with the remnants of the Thugmen who he had believed were all killed, though it seemed they rebuilt their army once again, his own rousing and charismatic speech allowing his Tankmen team to deal with those brutes easily without him leading charge.
No, to the northeastern portion of the battlefield is where his whereabouts truly lied as the captain was busy in front of a shooting range with his four week long newest recruit, a teenage girl with long, now desaturated, blue hue for hair color, ripped jean shorts, similarly desaturated lavender eyes, a black hoodie with three Xs vertically aligned down the sleeves of the clothing with a depiction of a broken heart at its center, black sneakers, a small pistol in her right hand, and a somewhat apathetic attitude toward everything in the life.
“Come on Blue, you just gotta shoot the target!” John instructed, wrapping the girl’s hand around the pistol before motioning it towards the center of a dart board that was merely ten feet from them.
“Yeah, you’ve been telling me to do that FOR THE LAST TWENTY MINUTES!” the girl yelled as the captain simply scoffed, grabbing a pistol that he had kept behind his back, despite having no apparent holster to hold the weapon.
In a sudden and quick motion, the captain fired his weapon towards the array of targets in front of them without even looking and, in a stroke of pure and utter skill…...missed every single one of them entirely.
“And that’s how it’s done!” John finished with a smug smile, one that the girl knew all too well, an unfortunate fact.
“You….missed,” the girl raised a brow, pointing at the holes the bullets had riddled on the large piles of debris and boulders that lay behind the targets.
“Nah, that’s all subjective!” the captain gave a prideful laugh before placing his gun back and walking next to the girl.
“Wha-no, no it really isn’t!” the girl once again exclaimed, “I mean, that didn’t even hel-”
“Come on shrimp, let’s get started on training, though after your moves a few weeks ago, I don’t think we have too much to worry about, though I’m not too into letting outsiders join our army,” John pointed to a tankman that sat on an ice cooler underneath a tattered tent a few feet away from this, this one wearing a circular vision more akin to goggles while eating one of the girl’s PB&J sandwiches that she had prepared in the morning, this man being Steve, John Captain's best friend and trusted “advisor” at times, “You can thank Steve for not kicking you out.”
“Love the sandwiches, Blue!” Steve called out with a small wave as the girl simply returned with a smile and the same gesture.
“Look, that was just an accident!” the girl returned her attention back to John, keeping her voice down, “I was just trying to pass through here because the mall is on the other side and I needed to buy more hair dye, which in hindsight was a pretty dumb decision seeing as how I could’ve taken another path instead of going through here.
Anyway, you guys just handed me a gun just because I happened to pick up one of your helmets and that made me one of you guys apparently, but I didn’t know how to use a gun.”
“Ah, don’t cut yourself short kid, you took down five Thugmen on your first try,” John recalled the event, “And then you took out an entire dozen of them including a tank! Ha, we needed you on our team after that show of genocide!”
“Okay, one, you slapped my back and I accidentally shot the Thugmen who just happened to be standing at the wrong spot at the wrong time and two, I dropped my gun after realizing I literally killed people and that somehow caused it to fire on impact, shooting flaming barrels that were on their side, which was a pretty dumb thing to have anyway, and it ended up toppling the tank over an entire group of them!” the girl tried to reason with the captain, but as she once again turned her attention to him, he had been eating her sandwiches with Steve.
“What’d you say, kid?” John called out, mouth full of the food.
“Argh, nothing!” the girl turned around, pointing the gun to the target before focusing the rear sight of the weapon at the center of the bullseye before closing her eyes and firing, the gunshot startling her, “EEEP!”
The girl had fallen on the floor, cowering in justifiable fear for a kid who just fired a gun intentionally for the first time, though all that she had heard was the sound of John and Steve clapping with a few other tankmen in the area whistling a congratulatory melody.
“W-Wha…?” the girl opened one eye before looking around her, seeing all her “teammates” giving her thumbs up as she looked ahead of her to find that she had, by all accounts of skill, actually landed and hit the bullseye, “O-Oh!”
“Yeah, that’s my girl!” John stood up, clapping quickly before realizing the fatherly comment he just said and giving a small cough to readjust his words, “I-I mean good job rookie!”
“Ha!” the girl stood up, the rush of adrenaline after firing what she believes to simply be a weapon for destruction filling her with an increased level of excitement that she hadn’t felt since…..since…..but that didn’t matter now.
Perhaps she could stay here a bit longer, help the Tankmen out every so often, and killing the bad guys isn’t bad, right?
“See, I told ya you could do it!” John gave her a pat on the back, lifting her arm in the air, pistol in hand.
“Yeah, I didn’t think I could….” the girl looked down at the gun, her reflection staring back off the glassy surface, her tired eyes and desaturated colors staring back at her, but her usual scowl was suddenly replaced with a hopeful smile, “I could get used to th-”
“Corporal!” a voice came from a broken pathway that led to the entrance of the abandoned city’s borders, and from behind the rubble came a tankman, frantic and worried, “Corporal John Captain!”
“What is it, soldier?” John responded as the tankman tripped on a rock, face planting himself on the ground as the girl went up to the man, helping him up, “Can you see me and Blue here are having a bonding moment?”
“S-Sorry, sir but someone….he….ah….and Yahtzee….” the man spouted out, catching his breath.
“Easy there soldier, who are you talking about?” the tankman looked around, only seeing the typical rubble and destruction laid upon a battleground of a city.
“Some guy, Rex and Mike tried to shoot him down since he was trying to enter this place, but the bullets, they just won’t knock him down, like they’re reflecting off of him,” the man continued, looking around in a terrified state, “Said he was looking for some Sky chick. What do we do sir?”
“Sky….?” John contemplated the name, “Who the hell….?”
The girl looked at the captain with an expression of disbelief, offense, and utter bewilderment.
“You’ve got to be kidding me-that’s my name!” the girl, now known as Sky by the others, exclaimed.
“Wait, that’s you?” John pointed as all the other tankmen murmured to each other in similar confusion.
“You’ve been seeing me for FOUR WEEKS, how don’t you…..you know what, nevermind,” Sky rubbed her temples before looking over at the frantic tankman, “Where is he?”
“He should be-”
“Hello, is anyone there?” a voice called out from the same path the tankman had come from as everyone turned to look, guns ready, as Sky looked down at her pistol with some form of uncertainty, though she still pointed the gun in the same direction as everyone else.
From the rubble however, came a neatly dressed and dark skinned man in a cinnamon colored tuxedo, wearing fancy clothes with a similar colored vest as well as glasses, who looked around the area before he had landed his eyes on the group next to the shooting range, only he wasn’t staring at Steve or John Captain, but rather Sky.
“Hey, the hell you think you’re doing here?” John broke the rather awkward silence that was only momentarily broken by the gunshots in the distance between the Tankmen and Thugmen.
“I’ve come to speak to Miss Sky,” Geovanni immediately responded, stepping forward as his eyes narrowed in observation, seeing the appearance of the girl, the previously happy-go-lucky, cheerful, awed, and in love girl with bright colors that reflected Boyfriend’s own clothing and appearance now reduced to a desaturated shell of a girl who seemed rather tired than loving at the moment, pointing her pistol at the sorcerer as the man looked around, only now realizing that the rest of the Tankmen were also aiming for him, “Oh, would you all grow up?!”
“Why do you want to speak with her?” John had stated, Sky’s eyes widening in surprise at the fact that the captain hadn’t simply begun shooting at the man like he did for everyone else.
“It is of important matters that are dire to the safety of our world, though I don’t assume you would understand or care much about that, would you?” Geovanni gave a nasty glare at the captain who simply scoffed with his signature grin before the rest of the Tankmen cocked their guns.
“Buddy, I think you better choose your next words rather carefully…” John said slowly, “Cause we’re about to blow you sky high!”
Sky hadn’t spoken to the man as of yet, simply hiding her confused and uncertain eyes behind her weapon, Geovanni’s eyes meeting her own, the sorcerer’s expression reflecting that of pity and a hint of what seemed to be disappointment, though not to her, but rather this entire situation he was in, Sky simply sighing before lowering her weapon.
“Wait…” she announced as the rest of the Tankmen looked over at the girl, “Don’t fire.”
“Excuse me?” John responded with a laugh, “Rookie, I don’t think that’s up for you to decide, so just let me do my job and-”
“He wants me, doesn’t he?” Sky snapped back, “So let him speak.”
“.....oh, it looks like we’re at a standstill, kid,” John turned around with a smile, “Guess we’ll have to figure this thing out using our new way of fighting, make this day a bit more interesting than it’s already been.”
“Want me to get the speaker John?” Steve asked, hesitant to lower his own gun down from the man’s direction.
“Fucking god Steve, yes, how the hell are we supposed to do this?” John sighed as the captain’s friend simply walked a couple feet forward before pulling off a tarp that lay on top of something big, revealing an old set of speakers identical to those that Girlfriend was on previously, only now with scratches and a small flame in its corner, the man tossing two microphones, one to Geovanni and the other towards the captain, “Nah, you what Steve, pass one for Blue here, see if she got the pipes to keep up.”
“W-What?!” Sky exclaimed, shaking her head and hanks in disagreement, “N-No, I haven’t sung since….since…..I just don’t think it’s that good of an idea!”
“Ah, come on, you’ll be fine,” John gestured for an additional microphone as Steve threw one at Sky who fiddled with it, juggling both it and her gun in her hand before deciding to hold each one in an individual hand, “Alright old man, rap battle to see who gets the girl!”
“H-hey, don’t treat me like a prize!” Sky protested from the background.
“Old man?” Geovanni sighed, though he was slightly hurt.
“Let’s see what you got!” John shouted as Steve sat on the speaker for some odd reason, somehow able to turn the broken musical instrument on.
And with no further protest, the first battle of part three has begun, guns cocked and snarky comments made!
[Hello once again esteemed reader!
So, this battle is rather interesting, especially with a newer, more edgy depiction of Sky because why not?
Alright, so here’s how I imagine the song/movements going:
Battle Title - “Ugh Forever” (This song would be “Ugh” from Week 7 of the original FNF with the only exception being
that we now have Sky who remains with her original vocals and small sections where the notes from Sky would sound like certain pieces from the “Sky” song from the respective character’s mod, with the small “ugh” being replaced with Sky’s own grunts and angry noises from her own mod.)
Character Movements - While Tankman’s and Geovanni’s remain the same, Sky’s is now different with her new character design except her her non-singing animation in which she has the same movement as her original form, only having her hands in her hoodie’s pockets and swaying side to side like her normal animation, an apathetic expression on her face:
Up (Sky holds her mic close to her head as her entire body kinda shrug’s upward, holding her gun in a similar way to Pico.)
Down (Sky brings her body low in a similar manner to Sarvente’s downward position, mouth in an “o” shape and everything, so nothing really special.)
Left (Same movements will be in the right position. In this case, Sky would kinda bob her head to whichever direction the arrow key in her side hits, this being in about five or four frames rather than the one or two frames for her other movements, her mouth also moving to whichever direction the arrow key hits.)
Right (^^)
Background - Same as Week 7 for all three battles in this part, only instead of Girlfriend on the speakers, it’s Steve holding a PB&J.
And so, with some stubborn determination, Geovanni somehow manages to be a duet against his own voice, quite tired with all the trouble he has been put through, though Corporal John Captain isn’t quite pleased with the result.]
“God fucking dammit….” John sighed, facepalming, “Kid, we’ve got to work on that war cry of yours.”
“That wasn’t a war cry, I was literally pissed that you would get me to fight a battle I was trying to avoid!” Sky protested before the captain simply looked over at Geovanni and scowled.
“Are we done here?” the sorcerer asked.
“Ah, go to hell!” John simply pointed a gun at him before immediately firing.
The bullet, when reaching the sorcerer, was instantly reflected off a ornate magical circle protecting Geovanni’s body which had appeared at lighting speed, the bullet hitting one of the tankmen as he fell to the ground, face bleeding as Sky simply shuddered, still not quite used to the amount of death and pain there was in this place.
“Captain, I would recommend you cease fire….” Geovanni warned, not really as a threat since the sorcerer wouldn’t hurt these foolish war fighters, but rather so that they didn’t waste their time trying to shoot him.
“Men, prepare to fire!” John commanded as all his troops readied their aim before all firing at once.
“Or simply ignore me, sure,” the sorcerer rolled his eyes, crossing his arms as bullets bounced off of him, Sky jumping behind John who was completely unimpressed, but more so annoyed at the fruitless result of simply shooting his problem away, something he hadn’t felt since dealing with Boyfriend, his ex gun wielding maniac, and that literal satanic hand me down wearing Girlfriend.
Whether it was due to his extreme luck or somewhat high intelligence in standing at the right place, not a single bullet hitting the captain.
“Ah, you’re no fun!” John placed his hand up to signal everyone to stop firing as the lasting sounds of gunshots were heard echoing through the battlefield, his additional armies firing at the enemy in the distance, “Rookie, just deal with this guy for me, will ya?”
“I was literally trying to explain that to you-”
“Kay, thanks!” John quickly interrupted before walking back towards the tent he and Steve had been eating their sandwiches within, leaving Sky and Geovanni to their own conversations as the remaining tankmen returned back to their battle.
“Sorry about that…” Sky apologized to the sorcerer who simply gave a sheepish smile, waving his hand in dismissal.
“Oh, don’t apologize, they always act like this, especially when it all comes down to an idiotic reason like retrieving the disk for a film or simply assisting a friend,” Geovanni rolled his eyes, “And here I am wondering how are they trained soldiers.”
“Yeah, sorry,” Sky responded, quickly realizing that she apologized once again, before simply changing the subject, “Um, so what do you want in the first place?”
“Oh, right!” Geovanni gave a nervous laugh, clasping his hands together in front of him, though the sorcerer remained silent, a large amount of sweat beading on his brow, his nervousness in needing the girl’s ability to defeat an extra dimensional entity being something that was difficult to put into words.
“So…..are you gonna tell me or?” Sky tapped her foot against the ground impatiently.
“Well, it’s a bit difficult to describe,” Geovanni explained, “Though to begin, I suppose you first wish to understand how I was able to gain knowledge of your name, don’t you?”
“That would be a nice start,” Sky’s eyes narrowed with skepticism before she stopped for a moment, the girl’s expression slowly becoming more somber and small as she crossed her arms, microphone still in hand, “But I think I know the answer to that….”
“You do…?” Geovanni responded with confusion.
Sky gave a small nod, her eyes staring at the ground as the girl’s expression softened, though the sorcerer could notice a tinge of guilt within her eyes and overall position, her legs overlapping over one another as she fiddled with the drawstrings on her hoodie as Geovanni was able to see past the zipper on said clothing, viewing a fairly dirty white shirt with a red check at its center.
Right, when she had met Boyfriend and he…...chose Girlfriend over her.
That event, in viewing for himself, was a bit of a confliction as he didn’t know which side he had rooted for the most, a small bit upset at Boyfriend for simply leaving her behind in her own void, the reason he was after her right now, instead of consoling her or trying to help her through her obsessive tendencies, but also understandable upset at Sky for taking her actions to an unhealthy level which ended up harming those who had nothing against her, pushing away those who she was after in the first place.
Well, he couldn’t ask her to come with her in this condition and state of mind.
“Want to talk about it?” Geovanni asked as the girl looked up at him with a surprised look before slowly piecing the pieces together, figuring out that he knew exactly what she had done through the sorcerer's look of recognition and remembrance on his face.
“I-I don’t know…” the girl placed her hands back in her pockets, looking to the side in shame.
“I know that my reason for coming to ask for your help is important, but as a sorcerer, as a friend, I simply wish to keep you all save, be it from literal demons, or your inner ones,” Geovanni extended his hand with a warm smile, “So, what do you say?”
“I don’t think I wanna remember that…..not again,” Sky mumbled, though Geovanni could catch wind of the girl’s words.
“Hmm... “ the sorcerer thought to himself, only now realizing that his hand was still wrapped around his microphone as he gestured it at the girl with a small smile, “Then how about we have a little wager? Nothing harmful, I assure you.”
“A what?” Sky responded, now locking eyes with Geovanni as she noticed what he was referring to, “You wanna rap battle me?”
“I never quite understood why every type of song is described as a rap battle, but sure,” Geovanni smiled, “U-Unless you don’t want to of course!”
“No, no, it’s fine, but….” Sky stopped, thinking of some excuse, though she couldn’t come up with any.
“Are you alright?” Geovanni leaned in slightly.
“.....alright, let’s do it,” Sky gave a determined nod.
“Great, and I hope you don’t mind if I pick a song,” Geovanni turned towards the speakers, waving his hand as a magical circle appeared in front of his fingertips, this one having a musical symbol in its center, before the sorcerer turned it slightly, heavy feedback emanating from the speakers before the melody of “Wife Forever” began to play.
Sky’s eyes widened at the recognition of her own song of all things.
“Wait, what?” the girl turned over to Geovanni who had already flipped on the mic.
“Oh, don't worry, I’m not the best singer, but from what I’ve heard, you have a wonderful voice,” the sorcerer grinned.
“R-Really?” Sky’s eyes widened with an embarrassed blush before the girl shook her head, “No, wait, I don’t-”
“Let’s begin,” Geovanni continued.
And with that, the second battle had commenced.
[Alright, an easy one to say the least:
Battle Title - “Wife Never More” (This song is just “Wife Forever” but Sky sings her parts a lot slower, almost like a slowed reverb version of the song itself while Geovanni simply sings it normally and fast.)
Battle Movements - Geovanni’s remain the same while Sky’s are also the same with the slight difference of a anime styled water droplet on her forehead to represent embarrassment and confusion, the girl's eyes now open in every one of her movements, her mouth like a squiggle to also represent nervousness. ]
As always, the battle had ended, Geovanni victorious on his side of the outcome, unaware as to the frightened and shaken Sky who was standing only a couple feet away from him.
“What an excellent…...song,” the sorcerer stopped, noticing that Sky was beginning to tear up, bringing her hands to her head, almost as if the girl wanted to stop the tears from coming out, to little success, “Miss Sky, are you alr-”
“Why….?” Sky asked under her breath.
“What?” Geovanni replied.
“Why did you use that song?” the girl reiterated.
“I-I thought you would be pleased to sing your own song again, but I-”
“I hate my songs,” Sky clarified, bringing her head up as the sorcerer noticed her eyes were a bit red, tears running down her cheeks, “I just wanted to stay here with Corporal and the others, forget about my past, but you didn’t let me even try and explain what’s going on.”
“I swear, that wasn’t my attention at all!” Geovanni tried to explain, “I just wanted to make you feel more confident in yourself and-”
“Hey, the hell do you think you’re doing?!” John’s voice interrupted the sorcerer who found the end of a barrel pointed a foot from his head.
“Sky, are you alright?” Steve walked over to console the girl who was beginning to wipe away her tears.
“Y-Yeah, I’m fine,” the girl gave a shaky nod before taking a deep breath, her expression returning to its more stern and neutral form as the girl glared at Geovanni, “Alright, enough games, what do you want?”
“I-I, um, I wanted-”
“I think she asked you a question, you merlin washout!” John spat at the sorcerer who had finally snapped with his nervousness, whirling around to place his eyes towards the end of the gun, his magical barrier laying right at its head.
“Do you idiots even know how hard this is, telling a heartbroken girl that I need her manifestation abilities in order to save the world?!” he shouted at John who simply glared back, the sorcerer placing his hands on his mouth, what he wanted to lay on Sky bit by bit coming out all at once, as he turned to witness Sky’s eyes widening.
“W-What?” the girl’s grip on her microphone tightened to the point where a few cracks began outlining around her palm.
“Wait, that’s not what I meant!” Geovanni reassured her, though Sky simply dropped her head.
“Heh, and I thought you actually cared about me,” the girl responded with a small laugh that slowly increased, “But that’s never the case, is it?!”
“I do care about you, but--”
“You just wanted to connect with me, to make me feel better, and for what, my dumb powers that got me into this mess in the first place?” Sky questioned, even more tears beginning to come out of her eyes as the ground underneath everyone began to shake.
No, not shake, but rather ripple, small waves coming from Sky’s own position.
“Please, just listen-”
“I’m just Sky, the crazy weirdo who no one ever wants to talk to, right?!” the girl’s eyes widened as she laughed once again.
“You’re much more than that, I promise,” Geovanni reached his hand out before dropping it back down, gripping onto his vest with contempt, “Maybe it’s better that I go-”
“No.”
“What?” the sorcerer looked up as the girl gripped even harder on the microphone until the entire tool broke into pieces, falling on the floor as a splash of more feedback echoed through the battlefield.
“You heard the lady, you’re not going anywhere,” John pointed the gun at Geovanni’s even harder, although this proved pointless.
Geovanni was concerned however, not towards the captain’s idiotic endeavor to harm him, but rather towards Sky anger, a black, vicous liquid begining to envelope her hand and travel up to the girl’s elbow as seen through her hoodie’s sleeve which had dampened as well, the liquid also travelling up to her thighs, a looming reddish pink glow coming from behind the small layer of hair in front of the girl whose head was still lowered.
This was it…...manifest.
“You wanted to see my manifest, didn’t you?” Sky asked, her voice far deeper and distorted than her previous form, similar to Girlfriend’s and Sarvente’s in their demon form, “Well, I’ll let you in on a little secret. I’m not from this world, even though I go to a school in Melo Dee City and I live here in the battlefield, but I’m actually from somewhere that is much more real than your world…..actually, your world is just a little game to me and people like me from where I come from, and I could simply just wish you away if I was there, but my manifest allows me to stay in this world, though I don’t like using it at all, especially when I can hurt others.”
“Then stop, please,” Geovanni begged.
“And yet you still wanted it, right, you jerk?” the girl continued bitterly.
“I don’t want you to hurt yourself,” the sorcerer held onto his microphone, “I don’t want to hurt you.”
“Yeah right,” Sky retorted.
“It’s true!”
“You want my manifest?” Sky asked, lifting her head to reveal pure mixture of red and pink eyes, her fingers forming into black claws before placing them in a position where one of her hands was in front of her chest while the other in front of her stomach, lifting her middle and index finger up, shaking violently, “THEN HERE IT IS!”
With those words, the girl screamed, a distorted and echoed scream filling the battlefield following a large blast of white which covered everything around the girl, including the sorcerer who yelled, covering his eyes against the blinding lights around him.
Opening his eyes after a few moments of silence and accustomization to the ash colored environment around him, Geovanni stood up, finding himself in an infinite black void, the speakers, Steve, and John also within it with him, though he had to focus on the men’s visors due to them already wearing black suits.
“The hell is going on captain?!” Steve exclaimed, pulling out his pistol.
“Steve don’t you think I would fucking tell you if I knew?!” John snapped back at his friend, also taking out his pistol as he stood in front of him.
“Sky….” Geovanni called out in a calm and slow manner, looking over at the girl who was rapidly shaking, gritting her now sharpened teeth with fury.
“SSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUP!” the girl yelled, the entire void flashing red for a moment before returning to its onyx hue.
The sorcerer knew he couldn’t get through with words, holding his microphone close to his mouth as he looked over at the tankmen for assistance.
“What?” John glared back before looking over at the speakers, “Ah, fine, but just because I don’t feel like doing anything today. Shouldn't even have been here in the first place.”
And with that the final battle commences.
[Ah, if only I could design all of this into a game, or at least get some form of music, but maybe if I learn how to do so, though until then, here we go:
Battle Title - “Manifested Weapon” (Simply put, it’s just the “Manifest” song from the Sky mod and “Guns” from FNF Week 7, this song taking notes from both, but into a remixed version.)
Battle Movements - Geovanni uses his nervous movements in “Dark Resistance” while Sky simply uses her animations from her manifest from in her original mod with just her new design from this story included.
Battle Environment - The black void from the “Manifest” song from the Sky mod with now John Captain and Steve simply sitting on top of the speakers.
And so, with enough flashing lights to give a small child a stroke, the sorcerer managed to wear the girl down for the moment, Sky simply falling to her knees with heavy pants.]
“W-Why…..?” Sky asked, her voice choked in tears though still demonic in sound, before slamming her fists onto what could be considered as ground repeatedly, “Whywhywhywhywhy!”
“Sky….” Geovanni called out to the girl, tossing aside the microphone before taking towards the girl as Steve tried and failed to catch the object, positioned to run after the sorcerer before being pulled back by his arm by John who gave a slow nod.
“Let him go, soldier,” the captain instructed.
“But captain, he’ll-”
“Let’s just see what happens,” John gave a large smile, “I mean, we can’t even shoot him down if we wanted to.”
“I can’t take it anymore….” Sky shook her head slowly, looking down at her blackened hands, red tears staining her palm with droplets, “What am I even doing anymore?”
“You’re being selfish,” Geovanni knelt down in front of the girl, “But who said that being selfish is a bad thing?”
Sky remained quiet, her desaturated blue ponytail splintered at its ends, a sense of confliction looming over the both of them.
“Look, I am truly sorry if my initial intentions came off as being too…..enforced in nature, though I do want you to know that I still care about your troubles, whatever they may be,” Geovanni gave a caring yet hesitant smile, though Sky didn’t bother to look up to him, the sorcerer sighing and remaining quiet for a moment or two before looking down at his chest and giving a look of nervousness but necessary determination, “Very well, if you won’t look at me, then listen to this.”
Without a word, Geovanni grabbed onto his necklace from beneath his shirt and removed it, the magical circles that surrounded him dissipating one by one as both John and Steve looked on in bewilderment and surprise, instinctually aiming their guns at the sorcerer who didn’t even flinch, nor give either of them any mind, tossing the necklace in front of Sky who jolted, not expecting such an action, before looking up at the sorcerer with a look of concern.
“I am Geovanni Gouge, guardian of prosperity and peace, sorcerer of the arcane arts, son of God the Allfather, and wise scholar of this world,” Geovanni placed his hand on his heart with a respectful expression.
“Geova-” but before Sky could finish the sorcerer’s name, he immediately embraced the girl in his arms, a moment of peace racing through both of them.
“But before all the titles of the world, I am your friend, listener to all your problems, honest fixer of half as many, tender and caretaker of all individuals, no matter how undeserving they may be, and the giver of secondary chances in every person’s life,” Geovanni finished, hugging an already astonished Sky with a sincere gesture.
The girl remained static for a moment before tears began forming in her eyes once more, Sky huggin the sorcerer tightly, her claws still ever present, meaning that they were digging into his back, though he did not mind, especially since he wanted the girl to trust him, not only for the mission, but as friends.
“I-I’m….I-I-”
“Shhh, it’s alright…” Geovanni gently stroked the girl’s back.
Sky simply closed her eyes as the ripples escaped her once more, racing through the ground out into the abyss of darkness before the world compacted once again, white walls crashing into all four of them before the group found themselves back in the military zone, the black liquid retreating back into Sky’s fingertips as she slowly let the sorcerer go, wiping some tears from her face.
“I’m sorry for that….” Sky quickly apologized once again, “I always lose control over things like these, like a stupid kid.”
“Sky, you’re not stupid,” Geovanni shook her head, “You’re different, and that’s not a bad thing.”
“Yeah, you’re alright, kid,” John admitted, “I mean, not as good as me, but you’ll get there.”
“And you’re a really good person too, making all those PB&Js for our men,” Steve added, “You’re amazing!”
“They’re the only thing I know how to make…” Sky rubbed her arm in embarrassment.
“And that’s fine,” Geovanni consoled the girl, “No one ever asks you to be perfect.”
Sky remained silent with a heavy sigh, all her anger, her guilt, and her shame melting through this tranquil yet melancholy moment.
“Someone does…” she responded, not even waiting for the sorcerer to answer before slowly pointing to her head, “Me.”
“You shouldn’t be so hard on yourself, especially when you’re helping other people by doing good things as a good person,” the sorcerer placed his hand on her shoulder with a confident nod.
“.......back in New Jersey, my New Jersey from the real world outside of this one, I’m just a normal girl going to high school, but the real world is just so mean and boring, so I decided to watch videos of luckier people who get to do exciting things, and something that made everyone happy was playing this game, Friday Night Funkin,” Sky explained, Geovanni listening in with intent, trying fairly hard not to break into the existential crisis Sky was perhaps expecting him to, “So, I bought the game and started playing it, and when I first saw Boyfriend, he was the most adorable and funniest person I’ve ever seen, and I could even somewhat understand what he was saying most of the time.
He was the key that I needed to change my life around.
I wanted to be with him…..I needed to be with him.
I never wanted anyone else but me to win over his heart.
So I did what everybody was doing at school…...mystical and mysterious spells that kinda knew weren’t even real in the first place, but I was so desperate and obsessed that I didn’t even care, so I hoped and prayed that it would work.
I got the candles, the red paint, whatever I needed, and I even cut my palms and legs in order to get the blood that I needed, all under the lie of a “school project” that my parents had no idea was fake.
I guess if you want something hard enough, you get it, huh?
The spell worked and I was transported here, but it still wasn’t enough, I wasn’t enough for Boyfriend yet.
I dyed my hair, got a shirt like him, did everything to be like him so that he would see that I was just more than one of the hundreds of fans he had gotten in this world…..and that’s when I learned about my manifest.
It helps me create these pocket realities and within them, I could trap anything I wanted and create anything I hoped or dreamed of from thin air, and there was this voice every time I transformed, a thousand whispers that would tell me that I was going to be perfect, that I would get the boy of my dreams, as long as I did what they said.
Guess I let them get into my head too.
Boyfriend beat me through his rap skills, and I was alone again with the voices who also went silent.
So I decided to keep a closer eye on him, to win him next time.
I decided to enroll in a school near Daddy Dearest's home since Boyfriend constantly passed by to show his skills against some of the best musicians in that building, and he always won, so I tried and failed to get his attention because of his Girlfriend.
All of the friends I made got news of this, and they got back at me, constantly bullying me and calling me a weirdo, so I snapped back at them, telling them that I could just delete them if I wanted to, but they just laughed, called me crazy and saying things like “if that’s true, then it's even sadder that you need a computer to make friends that aren’t even real” the whole day long.
I was done with everything and everyone, but this world was still better than going back to a boring old one, so I stayed and looked around, trying to find a purpose that would help me know what to do next.
Desperate to try again, but knowing I would fail in being Boyfriend’s wife, I came here, trying to go to the next town since Melo Dee ran out of hair dye, and I didn’t want him to see me with my ugly brown hair, so I walked and found these guys who took care of me and helped me.
I found my place here strangely, so I never went to search for my hair dye and Corporal John Captain told me I could stay with them if I wanted, so I did.
And you know the rest.”
“Oh Sky…..I’m so sorry you had to experience such terrible events,” Geovanni couldn’t quite place his sympathy into the right words, though he could see that the girl was still thankful for them, “I know how it feels to be different, to have all of your dreams crushed under a false sense of hope, feeling useless and without a clear path in life, but…...no, nevermind.”
“You don’t have to lie if you still need me,” Sky stood up, pulling the sorcerer up as well, the man giving a nervous smile.
“Apologies, but I’ve tried this once already, and it didn’t go too well,” Geovanni laughed.
“Now look who’s apologizing,” Sky placed her hands in her pocket before sighing and giving a small shrug, “Alright, what do you need me for?”
“Are you sure you wish to know?” Geovanni asked, his hesitation more extreme than her’s.
“3...2...1..” Sky counted before the sorcerer frantically waved his arms for her to stop.
“Alright, alright, I’ll tell you!” he took a deep breath before continuing, “There is a primordial entity of disharmony, chaos, and destruction called the Corrupta Nigrum that aims to destroy our entire reality, the being itself being large enough that even the smallest section of it is enough to combine and corrupt an entire universe, ours being one of the next to fall, and a piece of it lies within you, giving you abilities.”
“That seems to check out,” Sky responded nonchalantly with a shrug, “And where do I come in?”
“That is a bit more complicated, a plan in the works,” Geovanni scratched his head bashfully, “Though what I can tell you, and this may change your mind of assisting us, if you haven’t already, this being the fact that the monster lays dormant, waiting for the one true gateway that allows itself to bring its biggest piece to our world and destroy all of reality…….and that gateway is Girlfriend.”
He could see the small twitch in Sky’s eye, though the girl hid her anger underneath a fake smile.
“Well, that makes a lot of sense, considering she’s the special child and all,” the girl rolled her eyes, “But that won’t change my mind, if that’s what you’re thinking.
I’ll help you since you’ve done so to help me, and in the span of about two hours which is pretty impressive.”
“Thank you, truly,” Geovanni gave a small bow, a gesture which simply caused Sky to burst out in laughter.
“You’re still very weird though,” the girl wiped her tears, these of happiness, from her face, looking over at John and Steve, the former of whom was nowhere to be seen as always, “Yo, Steve, tell Corporal I’ll be taking that two week vacation notice in order to to save the world.”
“I don’t think he ever gave you vacation,” Steve replied, “We don’t even get paid!”
“Yeah, but I’m the one who makes your sandwiches, so I’m leaving for now,” Sky waved the tankman goodbye, Steve being left to ponder about their pay raise in this apocalyptic setting of a duty.
Geovanni and Sky made their way back towards the entrance of the battlefield, the former getting shot at every so often, but having already put back his necklace, he was completely invulnerable to the men’s bullets, those who did shoot simply receiving a glare from Sky, passing by Rex and Mike who were indeed playing Yatzee, though only one of them had a pair of dice, so each would have to throw each die at each other, hoping it wouldn’t fall off, this being a understandably terrible process.
“So, where am I staying?” Sky asked.
“At the local city church where a nice nun will get you accommodated and we’ll get started with our plan,” Geovanni explained, Sky blinking fast in confusion.
“I’m sorry, that place is actually running?” the girl asked.
Almost as if right on cue. The sorcerer’s phone began ringing as he picked it up, Sarv’s voice being on the other end.
“Hello Miss Sarvente, I’m accompanying Sky back to the church now,” Geovanni explained.
“Oh, that’s wonderful!” he could hear the nun’s happy voice speak through the device, though her demonic tone made it nearly impossible to understand what she was saying, “Though it is weird. I called due to the fact that I sensed an individual was speaking ill of my church…..crazy, right?”
“Absolutely,” Geovanni looked over at Sky, both giving small snickers, “Alright, I’ll see you later then?”
“See you soon!” Sarv finished, Ruv giving a groan in the background before the phone was hung up.
And so, the sorcerer’s hand on Sky’s shoulder, both continued walking, the small silence between the two being a welcome change from the contrast gunshots from the battlefield, a nice time for quiet reflection and contemplation on one’s own purpose in life, something that changes as much as a person can change, and switch their past self into a new form.
“Wait, so I actually get to kill Girlfriend?” Sky asked out of the blue.
“Sky!” Geovanni scolded as the girl simply giggled.
“Kidding, kidding!” she replied.
Well, at times, little steps are also an option.

Friday Night Funkin Original Story (Corrupta Nigrum) [Part 1: Unwanted Knowledge]
Part 1: Unwanted Knowledge
Another day of rap battling different people and creatures, sometimes things in between the two, had passed in the city of Melo Dee within the world of Friday Night Funkin’ as Boyfriend and Girlfriend made their way down the decrepit streets of the city, melody and beats filling the air as the smell of char and asphalt was all that greeted them as they continued to make their way down the sidewalk, passing along locations that had once visited, foes and opponents that had turned into their allies.
From a living bomb to a friendly man with an unhealthy smoking habit, they had perhaps seen it all with there being a lot more to come in between Boyfriends fairly challenging endeavor to gain the respect needed in order to achieve Girlfriend’s love, though the girl he had adorned needed no such regulations or ranks in order to love the man of her dreams.
Unfortunately, she wasn’t very much liked in the romantic aspect of her life, though that was until Boyfriend had showed up, his affinity with words immediately melting her heart.
She liked the short and cute ones.
“Boop bebop skidoo? (Hey babe, what’s with the letter?)” Boyfriend asked, holding the girl’s hand as they turned another corner, Girlfriend having held onto a pretty degraded piece of paper that was folded around a red ribbon.
“Hmm, honestly, I don’t know,” the girl looked down at the paper, rubbing her thumb over the ribbon, “Daddy only told me to deliver it to some man living in 20 Etho Street, but that street is pretty far away from our house, so it’s pretty weird that he told both of us to deliver it when he could have done it alot faster.”
“Beep baaa, skebop… (Probably just another attempt at getting rid of me....)” Boyfriend scoffed as they turned what seemed to be another corner, the home they were looking for seeming to stand out from the array of similar homes along the street, it being a Victorian home with brown and gold outlines, an almost ancient outlook of the more modernized structures that dotted the city.
“Oh, don’t be rude!” Girlfriend placed her head on Boyfriend’s shoulder, “He hasn’t tried to kill you in at least a month.”
“Beep bababa! (That doesn’t make me feel better!)” Boyfriend exclaimed, before sighing in frustration, “Beed bebo bada kpop. (Maybe he’s taking his time to plan something big so I can’t win against it.)”
“And has that stopped you so far?” Girlfriend gave a warm smile, her brunette hair glistening in the sunlight.
“Beep dooo… (I guess not…)” Boyfriend mumbled to himself, “Batta, beep bebop skidoo! (Honestly, how many inconveniently placed portals have to open before we decide to just stay home!)”
Girlfriend simply giggled in response, shaking her head slowly as they neared the entrance of the address.
“Don’t worry Boyfriend, you’ll always be there to help me out whenever we get into unwanted trouble, right?” she held the boy’s hand tighter as Boyfriend sighed with a smile.
“Beep badoo… (Of course I will…)” the boy said as he kissed the girl on the cheek, “Beaa deep beep boop. (Now let’s get this mission over with so I can actually relax for the weekend.)”
With that, Girlfriend rung the doorbell of the home, a gargoyle seemingly carved onto the door holding a door knocker on its mouth before the inanimate creature opened its eyes, a red glow coming from what appeared to be two rubies that served as its pupils before a latch suddenly opened underneath them, the couple falling into the hole.
“BEEEEP BADAAA! (GODDAMNIT!)” Boyfriend yelled as both he and Girlfriend fell into the black abyss underneath them.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The world around Boyfriend had gone dark, the boy laying suspended in what seemed to be ignite darkness in all directions, though as he looked down at his hands, they were still apparent against all levels of low light that surrounded him, the boy trying to call out to Girlfriend as he found himself incapable of speaking.
“It hurts, doesn’t it?” a familiar, snobbish voice called out to the void, its words echoing all around the boy.
He looked below his feet to see some sort of figure rising up from the darkness beneath him and Boyfriend focused on the details of who hovered in front of him.
A teenage boy with some sort of school uniform, a pinkish sweater being hung around his shoulder as the boy had ocean eyes and golden hair, but his expression that would usually portray such beauty and elegance was instead represented with a pained and almost depressed look.
This was Senpai, an artificial character within a game that Girlfriend’s father, Daddy Dearest, an ex-rockstar/musician, had created, this being the virtual skin that held together a lost spirit of a boy that Boyfriend had never gotten a clear answer as to how he was trapped in the first place.
He had promised Senpai that he would find a way for him to escape his imprisonment, but what was he doing here?
Boyfriend tried to ask such a question, only to be reminded that he could not speak.
“Being trapped in a void, unable to do anything to escape the grapes of an invisible force keeping you in place, is truly horrifying, right?’ Senpai continued, opening his tired eyes as their usual blue color almost seemed desaturated into a gray hue, “Not being able to speak as if you're trapped behind a smiling shell of a body.”
What did he want from him?
“You promised me my freedom, did you not?” Senpai’s echoing voice momentarily grew louder, the man’s tone no longer its pixelated composite, but rather that of an actual person, as his eyes began shifting into a deep red, “You promised me that I could escape, that you would stop all of the dark arts that held me to this dimension, this prison, like a dog in a cage, and yet you still hang around her?”
He needed more time, more options in how to go about his plan without breaking up with one of the only people who understood him in a capable, non-obsessive relationship.
He couldn’t simply stop seeing Girlfriend.
“You…..promised….” Senpai began to softly sob, his tears a black, inky mess as his body began to slowly break apart.
No….not break apart, but more so begin to melt into itself, the boy’s legs extending down like melted wax as his arms soon followed, the man’s fibers and muscle pulling back to reveal a horrible burned and reddened corpse of what once was a normal person living a fairly average life, the corpse continuing to cry inky tears as it held onto Boyfriend's shirt tighter as it got close enough to whisper into his ears.
“Heed my warning,” it said in between sobs, “She is a monster like her father and mother, though neither she nor you are willing to except such a fact, but leave her side before you get raptured in a game that you cannot escape from, a game that I once tried to play, only to be trapped here.”
He promised, nodding his head although his expression was uncertain if he was capable of telling such a truth to Girlfriend at all.
As Senpai finished, the corpse let go of Boyfriend's body, falling into the darkness below as thousands of screams echoed the darkness around him, the boy covering his ears, begging for the calamity of noise to cease at once, but he had no control over his senses, only wishing for the screams to stop.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Boyfriend…?” Girlfriend’s voice entered Boyfriend’s ears as the boy struggled to open his eyes.
How deep was that fall?
“Boyfriend?” Girlfriend’s voice continued calling out to him as the boy turned, his vision slightly returning back to him, though his beloved’s voice seemed to become clearer.
He placed his hand behind his head, an aching sensation taking over.
“Boyfriend!” Girlfriend’s voice pierced the blurry confusion as Boyfriend’s attention was placed on his beloved, her beautiful eyes staring back at him, “Boyfriend, are you alright?”
“Bee? Beop, bebed, bebed, beep strollo, badoo. Beep donofrio? (Hmm? Oh, yeah, yeah, I’m fine, just a small headache is all. How deep was that fall?)” Girlfriend placed her hand out as Boyfriend looked at it, hesitation taking over his senses as Senpai’s warning struck him once again, the boy shaking his head of worries before grabbing ahold of his beloved’s hand, pulling himself up.
Patting away at his pants to clear an extreme amount of dust from it, the boy looked at where they were, amazement being an understatement of the extreme environment he was staring at.
To what they believed to be a home, a library stood underneath it, but it's bookshelves seemed to go on for dozens of feet into the air, though their tops still visible, the couple standing on an elegant carpet of sorts that had some sort of image ordained into it, though it was far too large for either of them, to see.
As both looked around them, they found that the location they were in wasn’t actually a library, but rather an extreme large room of sorts, the bookshelves serving as the walls of the rooms itself, a complex yet magnificent chandelier hanging from the center ceiling of the room, washing a warm orange light into its entire structure, candles hanging from the wooden spines of each shelf as the couple’s eyes finally looked back down onto their level, seeing what appeared to be a figure sitting on a chair in front of a desk that too was piled with books upon books.
To the side of the desk lay what appeared to be a blackboard littered with writings in languages Boyfriend hadn’t understood in addition to diagrams and a few posters, one for a show featuring the picture of Daddy Dearest, another for a concert in which Starlight Mayhem were the main band playing, and another poster, this one being a wanted poster for none other than Ruv, a well known criminal and protector of the Holy Granda Church, with another belonging to Whitty, the living bomb Boyfriend and Girlfriend had faced before in the alleyway not too far from here actually.
On top of Whitty’s poster was a chalk interpretation of an eye with six lashes protruding from its center.
“H-Hello there!” Girlfriend called out, digging into her hair to pull out the letter.
The figure sitting at the desk jolted up for a second, stopping what it was doing before turning around to simply be a man.
“O-Oh, Miss Dearest, I hadn’t known you would arrive this early!” the man quickly apologized, standing up as the couple got to take a good look at who they were dealing with.
The man was fairly tall, not as much as Whitty or Daddy Dearest, but obviously and sadly much higher than Boyfriend was, much to the boy’s disliking, wearing a cinnamon red tuxedo while sporting fairly short but curly brown hair, glasses with black rims, a red tie to go along with his suit, fancy black pants and shoes, light brown skin, and overall a careful but friendly smile.
“Oh, it was no problem, really!” Girlfriend passed the letter to the man who walked up to the couple, “Wait, do I know you?”
The man stopped with a warm smile, his eyes now close enough to the two that they could tell he was tired.
“No, unfortunately, but I did work fairly close with your father in terms of your family as a whole, the Dearests and the Gouge’s (go-shay) being fairly close in terms of the works of arcane studies and discovery,” the man stopped talking, placing the letter in his pocket, “Oh, my apologies again, I forgot to introduce myself. I am Geovanni Gouge, heralder of the tomes of magic and knowledge of this world and sorcery of reality and the arcane elements of this world.”
“I didn’t know you and my family were that close!” Girlfriend gave a small smile, “Though if Daddy’s recent obstacles are anything to look at, it would make sense that he would try and get the most powerful spells and portals he can. Oh, um, I’m-”
“Lucy “Girlfriend” Gearest Cameron Dearest, I know,” the man shook the girlfriend’s hand before turning to Boyfriend whose expression shifted from intrigue to shock at the mention of his beloved’s name being something other than what he had been calling her their entire relationship, “And you must be the prestigious, or perhaps now abhorred, Boyfriend.”
“Beep, deboo, brapap? (You’ve heard of me?” Boyfriend asked as Geovanni simply stood there, perplexed at the barrage of beeps and boops that Boyfriend was spouting.
“U-Um, pardon?” he said with a nervous smile.
“Oh, that’s just how he talks,” Girlfriend explained.
“Oh dear, how long have you spoken like that?” the man kneeled down to be at Boyfriend’s height, lifting the boy’s head up with one finger as he trailed two fingers down the boy’s throat.
“Beep depop, brabab. (I’ve had it ever since I was born, but it looks like only a few people like Girlfriend can really understand what I’m saying.)” Boyfriend explained as Girlfriend translated.
“Wait, he said all of that in just a couple of sounds?” Geovanni asked as Girlfriend nodded.
“Mhm! It makes communication a bit easier when it requires less words, but translation is a bit of a hassle,” Girlfriend explained.
“Interesting indeed!” Geovanni’s eyes sparkled with excitement and curiosity, “So it seems as if the melody larynx of our biology and physiology can be converted into natural language through some unusual birthing process, which itself is fairly intriguing in general, but learning this can create a more communicable environment for people to live within.”
“Oh no…” Girlfriend quickly pulled Boyfriend away from the man, a look of concern on the girl’s face, “You’re not another Springheel, are you?”
“Doctor Springheel?” Geovanni tilted his head with a calm smile, “No, but he is a good friend of mine. I do wonder how he is doing nowadays, especially since the last time I had seen him, he was chasing after Carla Furrow in college, what he called the “next step in his life and career” having started with her at his side.”
“Beep bada, bop bop! (Yeah, the next step probably went along the lines of cutting people’s hearts out!)” Boyfriend exclaimed as the translation was made.
“He….he what?!” Geovanni looked at the couple with a look of concern on the man’s face before groaning and rubbing his temples, “Oh Jack, what have you gotten yourself into?”
“You’re….you’re not going to hurt us, are you?” Girlfriend asked, she and Boyfriend a few feet away from the man.
“What? No, of course not!” Geovanni frantically shook his head with a sheepish smile, “Sorry, I tend to get rather excited about new discoveries such as this one, though I apologize if I came off as a bit invading in nature.
I suppose a bit of Jack’s personality must have rubbed off on me when we studied together as partners, though while he searched for the complexity of romance and its applications to the world, I sparked an interest in the arcane world and I…...um, you know what, nevermind!”
“You, what?” Girlfriend asked, her curiosity leaking out a bit.
“No, it would only upset you further, so forget it!” Geovanni shook his head before returning to his desk.
“Beep bop dep skidoo! (How about we rap battle for your secret?)” Boyfriend suggested as Girlfriend simply gave a disapproving look.
“Honey, I know you usually use your funking awesome skills to win against people, but Geovanni isn’t hurting us, so I think it would be best if we-” though without getting another world in, Boyfriend ran up to the man, Girlfriend simply face palming in response before walking behind, “Of course you don’t listen to me.”
“Brap bada, beep bop! (Come on Mr. Gouge, let’s have a rap battle!)” Boyfriend exclaimed as Girlfriend simply translated, though at a much more irritated rate.
“What?” Geovanni turned around, having already opened the letter before promptly throwing it in the trash, “You want to rap battle me for my answers. Doesn’t that seem rather invading of you?”
Girlfriend and Boyfriend simply looked at the man with a knowing look, Geovanni giving a small laugh, scratching his head in defeat.
“Very well, though I am not that well when it comes to singing, though I should know enough if the rumours about you are true in nature, not to mention that if they are, this would be a bit unfair of a battle due to experience, but I am much older than you both so fine,” Geovanni sighs.
“Oh, wait, I forgot to bring-”
“Your speakers?” Geovanni smiled, tapping his shoes a couple of times against the floor as the carpet underneath them began to glow, a large circle with complex lines within it appearing to their side as Girlfriend’s speakers shot through it as it acted like a portal, the musical piece landing on the floor with a thump as Girlfriend kissed Boyfriend on the cheek before sitting on them in her usual spot.
“Wow, how did you even-”
“Like I had mentioned, I am a master of the magical and arcane arts!” Geovanni snapped his fingers as glowing circles next to both him and Boyfriend which released the microphones needed for the battle, “Very well Mr. Boyfriend, let us see what skills you have!”
And so, the battle commences!
[If I had any skill, I would make a FNF mod about this encounter, but since I don’t, and because my only actual skill is writing, I’ll just describe what is occurring within the battle:
Battle Name - “Arcane Beats”
Geovanni Gouge’s Voice - Piano ( C piano key for up, D piano key for down, G piano key for left, and A piano key for right)
Battle Mode - Easy (Default)
Battle Style - Unlike most mods, this battle won’t include Boyfriend repeating any of Geovanni’s beats, as well as the fact that Geovanni himself is second to start the battle, but rather Boyfriend and Geovanni both sing their own beats in a calm and fairly slow rhythmic battle while only occasionally filling in each other’s melody (for example: Geovanni goes up down, up down, up down, and Boyfriend fills it in with left right, left right, left, right). The background are the rrom’s bookshelves and the latch where the couple had fallen from with the occasional book flying passed them both while Girlfriend sits in her normal position, the fluffy carpet underneath them being visible to the player as the image the couple couldn’t see is actually a large tree branching off into small circles (a reference to Yggdrasil, the world tree).
Geovanni’s Movements -
Up (Geovanni brings his microphone close to his mouth, small sparkles coming from the ground beneath him)
Down (Geovanni seems to sigh, a small cloud escaping his mouth)
Left (Geovanni brings his arms to the air, his right one pointing to the left of the screen as a magic circle forms at the tip of his finger, his eyes also seeming to become complex circles of magic akin to those of Marvel sorcerers)
Right (Geovanni turns so that his back faces the screen, pointing his right hand to the right of the screen as a magical circle forms from the tip of his finger, the man’s head only slightly looking at the screen as he winks).
It’s to also note that if this were a physical mod, rather than a script and literary retelling of it, Geovanni would sometimes be animated doing something during Boyfriend’s longer turns, this happening three times in this minute and a half long battle, the first where Geovanni catches a flying book from the background before tossing it offscreen, the second being where he just looks at the screen and gives a shy wave as small sparkles float around his face, and the third being him forming a magical circle under his microphone, levitating it slightly before catching it again, though his arrow movements may interrupt any one of these animated emotes.
And that’s the first battle!]
“Goodness, these kinds of things take a lot out of you, don’t they?” Geovanni took a few breaths while Boyfriend remained perfectly fine.
“Beep bebop, beep bop. (You betcha homie, but I think it's time you complete your part of the deal.)” Boyfriend smiled with confidence as Girlfriend translated, Geovanni simply groaning.
“Right, well, I suppose I…..er, I probably, maybe, could have been spying on you and your boyfriend since you both got together,” Geovanni squeezed his eyes shut, awaiting an angry response, only to feel his hand being grabbed with gentle care.
The man opened his eyes to find Girlfriend and Boyfriend smiling back.
“Oh, is that all?” Girlfriend said nonchalantly.
“Wait, you’re not upset?” Geovanni asked as the couple simply broke out into laughter.
“Beep, skedo, bop beep beep boop, bap! (Dude, half of the people we meet on a regular basis are spying on us, but unlike a lot of them, you’re not pissed at Girlfriend’s dad or at me for that matter!)” Boyfriend explained.
“Heh, yeah, you’re a really nice guy, and those are really hard to come by, so don’t worry about it,” Girlfriend continued Boyfriend’s explanation, “We’re not mad at you.”
“Really?” Geovanni looked at the couple, both giving an affirmative nod as the man smiled back, some sense of happiness and hope restored in the man’s heart, “Well, that isn’t something that I expected from this encounter, though I am glad you aren’t feeling uncomfortable from that news
In all honesty, Daddy Dearest assigned me to spy on you both, though from spying on your encounters it seems as if I am not the only hired watcher, though after a while it became a rather pleasurable hobby of mine, seeing the determination and confidence you derive from your recklessness when placed in rather difficult situations, especially with rifts that have been opening around the city in the past few weeks, hell months, which is the reason behind your sendoff to various realities and time periods.
Researching and paying attention to branching forms of our dimension, universe, reality, and timeline isn’t an easy task, but as long as it keeps everyone safe, it is a duty that I must perform to my full capabilities.
Seeing various versions of you fighting, losing, changing into various form, and becoming…….um, nevermind that, but you are extremely determined when it comes to gaining the approval of those that harm you, your goal and endeavour to be with the woman of your dreams a valuable one and one that I enjoy viewing, almost as if it were a story in some goofy video game or something along those lines.”
“Hang on, other versions of him?” Girlfriend asked as Geovanni nodded, pointing to his blackboard as a magical circle appeared from the tips of his fingers, bringing the object closer to both of them, its wheels floating above the carpet as it couldn’t roll, the man pointing to various branches that marked with the letters FNFD and a number after it.
“Yes, our world of Friday Night Funkin is an intriguing one indeed, though it is obviously not the only one and new variations of your encounters and lives are being written everyday, some better than others in terms of their outcomes or overall themes in nature, though they are each unique to say the least,” Geovanni pointed to each branch before trailing over to a strangely anatomically correct interpretation of his own head, a circle around the throat area, “An interesting result of living in such a musically enhanced world would be our capabilities to transform of voices into those of instruments or sounds that can act as an instrument itself, mine, as you’ve seen, being that of a piano while yours and Girlfriend’s seems to be the second variation of sorts wherein you use your voices to implement some type of sound that can be repeatedly used to create a melody of sorts through that specific type of larynx in your throat regions, though Boyfriend's could be due to his short stature since body structure is also a factor in voices.”
“Beep bebop, bep bop, skedo bep. (Well, I have no idea what any of that means, but I think we should get going.)” Boyfriend explained as his beloved translated.
“Oh, before you go can you do me two favors?” Geovanni asked the couple as they stopped in their tracks to pay attention.
“Yes, what do you need?” Girlfriend asked before Boyfriend could protest.
“Well, first I want Boyfriend to accept this gift for understanding my actions and so I can see its effects on him, in a ethical manner mind you,” Geovanni took two of his fingers and began drawing an invisible circle on his throat before one of his magical circles appeared at that same spot as the man pulled his hand away, a projection of that smaller circle, this being a larger amber circle, the default color of the constructs, appearing on his palm as the man gestured the boy come forward.
Boyfriend looked over at Girlfriend who gave a nod of approval as the boy did as instructed, heading over to Georvanni as the man lifted the boy’s head again, this time shrinking the larger magical circle and retracing it on Boyfriend’s throat, a tickling sensation filling the boy’s body as he could barely contain his laughter, Geovanni laughing along with him before finishing his spell, waving his hand as the magical circles dissipated.
“Alright, all done,” Geovanni announced as Boyfriend opened his eyes, looking at his body in confusion.
“Um, what exactly did you do?” Boyfriend asked before placing his hands to his mouth in surprise, Girlfriend responded with a sudden gasp, “Woah, I can…..lalalala, macaroni, clouds, love, I love Girlfriend…...hahaha! Oh my god!”
“It’s a temporary spell, it should end in about a few days, but I do hope it helps with communication once in a while, so take it as a gift of appreciation from me to both of you-” Geovanni stopped, Boyfriend embracing the man in a hug as he stood perplexed before hugging ther boy back.
“Thank you so much!” Boyfriend grinned, placing his fist out for a fistbump, “You’re a really awesome dude!”
“It is my greatest pleasure,” Geovanni gave a warm smile, bumping his fist with Boyfriend’s, “As for my second favor, if you wouldn’t mind, I would like to have one final battle with you both, no third battle necessary.”
“Absolutely dude!” Boyfriend grabbed hold of his microphone with a confident smile, Girlfriend sitting back on top of her speakers as she gave a nod of thanks to Geovanni who returned it, grabbing his microphone as well.
“Shall we commence?” Geovanni asked.
And so, the second battle commenced!
[This one is a bit easier to explain as it shares the same animation with the first, with slight differences that makes the end of this part rather interesting:
Battle Name - “Voiced Love”
Battle Style - Medium (Default)
Geovanni’s Movements - While the same as the first time, the music is a lot more faster but still lighthearted, actually matching the tempo of the song “Wife Forever” in the Sky mod, and both Geovanni and Boyfriend seem to have a closer friendship, the man’s icon at the bottom of the screen showing his face, when brought to the left, just seem to smile in happy defeat…...though things aren’t what they seem. At the end of a fairly fast up and down rhythm towards the end of the forty second song, right as Boyfriend is finishing the last few notes, Geovanni winces, his eye twitching as behind him a faint magical circle constructs turns gray then red before disappearing, the man standing in place, confused as to what just happened, as the song ends and the screen fades to black as the story continues.]
“Hold on,” Geovanni places one finger out in contemplation, “Something isn’t right.”
“Oh boy, here comes the magical transformation…” Girlfriend sighed in expecting disappointment.
“No, something is just wrong…...wrong with you,” he pointed slowly at Girlfriend who sat up, looking at both Boyfriend and Geovanni with a perplexed expression.
“Excuse me-”
“Oh, she’s a demon like her father and mother,” Boyfriend interjected as Girlfriend glares at the boy, the girl’s eyes momentarily glinting red.
“Yes, I know that, but something isn’t right…..something inside her,” Geovanni dropped his mic before placing his hands together, pulling them apart as a magical line formed, the sorcerer wrapping it around other lines until another magical construct circle was formed, this one moreso resembling a flower, as the man began to place it in front of Girlfriend before the girl sprouted her demon wings and flew over to Boyfriend who looked at her in equal confusion.
“H-Hey, cut that out!” Girlfriend snapped back, hiding behind Boyfriend who stepped in front of her protectively.
“Please stand still…” Geovanni groaned, bringing the flower circle in front of Boyfriend before Girlfriend grabbed them both, bringing them to the air.
“Stop trying to view my essence!” Girlfriend shouted back.
“Ah, so you do know what this does,” Geovanni asked, his expression shifting into that of concern, “Then please, let me just-”
“No!” Girlfriend flew over to the corner of the room, holding Boyfriend up as a meat shield.
“Woah, essence?” Boyfriend asked, “What’s that?”
Geovanni once again tried to move the circle toward their direction, but Girlfriend simply flew towards another corner, so the circle followed, then up and then down, until the man simple sighed, bringing the circle back towards him, though it did not dissipate like the others, instead going in front of him so that the couple could peer through it and see tha man’s own body.
“It’s a magic substance that all magical beings have within their body, like a soul type of x-ray that we use to ensure that a creature is in a healthy form of being and as you can see,” Geovanni waved his arm, the circle spinning before blackened like an x-ray screen, reappearing as a shadowy outline of the man was seen, a yellow glow serving as his blood and muscle as red lines represented his nervous system, his heart being outlined and surrounded by blue waves, “My soul is seen as health since many sorcerers have blue souls such as mine, representing purity and good health while demons and other creatures have purple souls due to a different form of magic, although I too am capable of performing the dark arts although I was born human so the appearance isn’t shown.”
“And why do you need Girlfriend’s scan?” Boyfriend asked.
“It would be easier to explain if she would stand still and allow me to scan her,” Geovanni moved the circle towards the couple as Girlfriend flew out of the way, now dropping Boyfriend on the ground as the man once again groaned in frustration, continuing to move the circle, “I have a large array of spells as I explained, but one of the spells that I placed on myself would alert me if a specific presence was nearby, an entity that would take me mere days to explain the danger of, but I must know if Girlfriend has it within her essence.”
“I don’t!” Girlfriend responded, dodging another attempt at being scanned.
“Then why are you flying away young lady?” Geovanni tapped his foot on the ground impatiently, trying to move his hand in order to transport the circle, but his tiredness took over as the man simply rubbed his temples, dispelling the circle away, Girlfriend flying back down before landing on the carpet which began to apparently rot under her mere presence, the girl’s purple skin, horns, wings, and red glistening eyes burning a bit brighter than Boyfriend had seen last time.
“Boyfriend, we’re leaving!” Girlfriend grabbed her beloved’s arm.
“W-Wait, shouldn’t we hear him out fir-”
“No!” Girlfriend snapped back, flying up to the latch until she realized that it was gone, a solid ceiling replacing it, “What the….?”
“You cannot leave this place, not if I’m right about what you hold,” Geovanni sat back down on his chair which he turned so that he was facing the couple.
“If you don’t let us out, I swear I will-”
“Call your parents?” Geovannit took a deep breath, “Lucy, I-”
“Girlfriend,” the girl corrected with a growing anger in her tone.
“R-Right, Girlfriend, you don’t quite realize the danger that you are holding within your current physical form, and if it is what I fear it may be, I think it would be best you listen before something bad happens, like you hurting yourself and hurting Boyfriend of all people,” the man gestured to the boy who remained silent, unsure as to what was happening as he looked at Girlfriend for some answers.
Girlfriend simply stared back, her irritated expression now shifting to concern and a small hint of guilt, before scoffing and crossing her arms.
“How about we have one final rap battle?” she asked as the man tilted his head in confusion.
“A rap battle, now?” Geovanni stood up from his chair, now his irritation beginning to grow, “If you are aware of what you are holding, you’re balancing the lives of thousands, if not millions of lives on some friendly game of melody in order to hide away a secret you haven’t told your beloved boyfriend yet?! Don’t you remember what had occurred with Tabi-”
“One rap battle, take it or leave it,” Girlfriend restated her request.
“You’re serious…...aren’t you?” Geovanni gave a small laugh of disbelief, tapping his foot on the ground before sighing as he nodded his head in slow contemplation, “Very well, but here are the regulations. If I win, you will tell me everything you know about the creature inside of you and you will allow me to heal you and figure out a way to kill it…..if it’s even possible to do so…..and we will gather with your parents for additional assistance, but if you win, then I shall leave you be, though I do have to warn you that it is best of the former occurs for the sake of all life.”
“Alright, Boyfriend, get your mic and let’s end this already-”
“Upupup, I think you might have misheard me,” Geovanni crossed his arms before snapping, one microphone flying into his hands as the other bonked the back of Girlfriend’s head after flying from Boyfriend’s hand, “I said if you win, so I suggest you get to singing.”
“Argh, fine! I’m a little rusty, but if it keeps you from going into something you have no right in looking into, then it’s worth it!” Girlfriend retorted, grabbing ahold of her mic as a dark mist envelopes her, Geovanni waving his hand as a circle formed in front of him, this one thicker than the rest.
If both Boyfriend and Geovanni agreed on one thing, it was that you didn’t mess with Girlfriend when she unlocked her demon form…...and now the demon was out.
The man would need all the protection he could get.
And so, the third battle commences.
[Oh boy, this one would be one of the hardest to animate, but thank god I don’t have to!
So, here we go:
Battle Name - “Dark Resistance”
Battle Style - Hard (Default) Girlfriend’s Movements - So, in this final round of part one, we end up playing as Demon Girlfriend who has the voice of an electric guitar like Whitty and a new appearance which basically is the Girlfriend but with purple skin, two stubs for horns, red eyes like Daddy Dearest and Mommy Mearest, bat like wings, and a whole lot of f*** you!
Her movements would be as follows:
Up (Girlfriend’s whole body moves up, her wings as well, as her red eyes glow brighter than her other movements, where we can see a bit of her fangs.)
Down (Girlfriend moves her entire body down, her wings hiding above her body like an umbrella, her entire figure looking like a predator about to pounce on its victim.)
Left (Same as down, but Girlfriend’s wings are spread out in anger and she is slightly moved to the left.)
Right (Same as left but for the right, only Girlfriend’s hand is extended out, almost as if telling Boyfriend to stand back, her claws now showing.)
Geovanni’s Movements - Same as with his others, but he now sports a more concerned expression and not having any animations, not wanting to do this, but Girlfriend had left him no choice. He’s going to have to fight through her resistance.
Behind Girlfriend is a magic circle similar to Geovanni’s, though it appears to be black with red outlines that seem to portray a pentagon with a single red eye at its center.
Boyfriend isn’t seen on screen as the speakers radiate with a red energy.
As the battle continues on, Girlfriend begins to seemingly drip a black liquid from her eyes and mouth, though her movements stay the same.
It’s an extreme fast pace battle with one or two sets of full arrow sets thrown in by surprise, this song having a tempo mixture similar to “Manifest” from the Sky mod and “Genocide” from the Tabi mod.
Something that I like is that if you intentionally try to lose, Girlfriend lowers her head for a moment before yelling into her microphone, the “Game Over” screen shattering as the battle continues, almost as if she won’t even let you, the player, stop her from hiding her own secret.
In any case Girlfriend wins the match with her default scown and crossing of arms whenever you don’t press any arrow keys as Geovanni stays in his own stance, one hand in his pocket as the other holds his microphone, though his default smile is now replaced with nervousness as the shield breaks.
The demon has won.]
“Urgh!” Geovanni falls onto the floor as Girlfriend throws her microphone at the man in anger, the man dodging as the microphone embeds itself into the floor, “Goddammit! Why won’t you listen to me?!”
“We had a deal…” Girlfriend crossed her arms, Boyfriend being seen in the background, his face concerned and justifiably afraid.
He hadn’t heard a voice that loud since Sunday last week.
“Girlfriend, that black liquid,” Geovanni stood up, waving his hand as a magical circle summons a handkerchief on the man’s hand as he leans it to wipe it, Girlfriend simply blinking and taking a deep breath as her demon form recedes, her normal appearance returning once again.
“See, I got it,” Girlfriend turns to walk towards Boyfriend before stopping, her head remaining unturned from the man as she says in a low voice, “You should really learn how to back off.”
“Girlfriend….” Geovanni sighs before shaking his head and sitting back down, snapping his fingers as the latch reopens, a circular staircase forming little by little until it was complete, Girlfriend reaching into her hair before taking out a rope and tying it around her speakers, placing them on her back as she continued along the staircase.
“Come on Boyfriend, Carol’s waiting for us at the coffee shop a few blocks back,” Girlfriend called out as Boyfriend gave a nod and a smile, turning to look at Geovanni with a frown as the man simply waved his hand with an understanding nod.
“Go on, I’ll be fine.”
“Thank you again,” Boyfriend gave a small nod before following Girlfriend.
Geovanni looked up at the two, digging into his pocket before taking out some type of monocle, placing before his eye as he peered at the speakers behind Girlfriend, the peering spell embedded in the artifact allowing the man to see through the common disguise of the musical piece, the three speakers instead being three large crystals, but not any crystals, rather Amarok Crystals which can only be carried by demons through some enchantment making them hard to be wielded by other beings…….and the perfect source to drain the energy produced by the melodies that individuals sing throughout rap battles without hurting the individual in question.
All those factors, all those components, meant one thing, the very thing that Geovanni had feared…...Girlfriend held the Nigrum.
“Dammit….” the man sighed.
He slammed his fist onto the arms of his chair, knowing that were he to call Daddy Dearest or Mommy Mearest, the former probably the main reason behind placing his daughter under this unfair predicament, the demon would argue his own twisted reason for doing most of the things he does to others for the sake of either being the best or being the most well known demon in MeloDee city and the world.
The two would perhaps do to him as they do to all others who get in their way, trapping him in some pocket reality or prison, though Geovanni himself was powerful enough to evade their tactics, having researched them all, though then he would have no demonic leads into killing the being.
“What do I do now….?” Geovanni asked himself, turning his chair around to get back to reading until his eyes landed on a poster to his side.
The poster itself illustrated a church with a large amount of crappy photoshop art interpreting angels, crosses, puppies and for some reason napoleon ice cream, the main headline reading:
“JOIN SARVENTE’S CHURCH FOR THE ASCENDED AND THE BLESSED TODAY! BECOME ONE WITH GOD!”
“Maybe…” Geovanni contemplated for a moment before lifting himself up from his chair, grabbing one of his books with him, and twirling his finger with a magic circle, his cloak from the clothes rack behind the staircase flying over to him as he placed it on, climbing up the staircase while staring into the address of the poster.
Perhaps it would be best to get some alternative demonic assistance.
