CORPORATE YOGA:
As the practice of yoga grew in popularity, yogis and teachers became more inventive with where yoga could be practiced. An influx of yoga YouTube routines meant that yoga at home surged in popularity, and unique yoga practices were even held in locations like gardens and parks.
Corporate yoga is becoming increasingly common with workplace initiatives and employee wellness
The increased demand for yoga in offices and corporate sectors has raisedas workplace stress rises and workload demands increase.
More and more companies are recognizing the importance of employee health and wellbeing, and are branching out into new initiatives to increase productivity and decrease absenteeism.
Yoga in the office may be worlds away from yoga in the studio, but the benefits of yoga remain the same wherever it is practiced and so it’s a great form of exercise to implement into an employee wellbeing program.
how to define CORPORATE YOGA
Corporate Yoga is a yoga practice that takes place exclusively in the workplace, often as part of an employee wellbeing scheme, or as part of a private yoga class.
The idea of corporate yoga is to bring a team or department together, increase employee productivity and improve workplace morale.
Corporate yoga sessions can be arranged so that they provide a break in the workday, as a way to de-stress at the end of the day, or as a way to prepare for the day ahead.
All corporate yoga practices include the foundational principles of yoga including physical stretching exercises, breathing techniques, mindfulness practice and relaxation technique
BENEFITS OF CORPORATE YOGA
There are a number of benefits that come with introducing corporate yoga into your workplace. The main benefits include:
1. INCREASing ENERGY LEVELS
Workplaces which are sedentary are particularly at risk of decreasing blood circulation and increasing stress. The most common culprits are office jobs, where workers typically stay seated for around 6-8 hours a day.
Moderate stretching has been shown to increase blood circulation which in turn raises energy levels. One of the core fundamentals of yoga is stretching exercises which are performed through dynamic movements.
This helps reduce stress and fatigue, which in corporate yoga will help to keep employees alert and energy generation .
2. RELIEF FROM “DESK PAIN”
Those in office jobs often spend hours at a time slouched over their desks, which stretches the neck forward and rounds the spine.
This posture is unhealthy because it is unnatural, and it can have serious impacts on posture. Back pain, neck pain and shoulder stiffness are also commonly reported symptoms which interrupt productivity as workers struggle to get comfortable.
The fluid movements and stretches found in yoga practice can correct posture, lessen tension and stretch and strengthen the muscles under strain. It can also teach employees movements that they can enact in their desk chairs which can prevent them from slipping back into the posture later on.
3. INCREASE in FOCUS
Corporate life can be stressful with heavy workloads and looming deadlines. Mental clutter caused by stress and pressure can hinder decision making and reduce concentration.
The poses and meditative qualities found in yoga can dissipate mental clutter, which makes employees more alert, more focused, and subsequently more productive. Yoga also improves blood circulation in the brain, which improves brain function and will result in heightened concentration.
Meditative aspects of yoga can also encourage employees to develop a still mind, which is a useful tool to have in a pressurized work environment.
4. STRESS relief
One of the benefits of traditional yoga practice is its ability to relax the body and also calm the mind. Those who can think calmly often think rationally and are not quick to anger, which negates stress.
Stress-free and calm employees will uphold a much more positive outlook on life and will therefore be less likely to suffer the impact of negative behaviors.
Likewise, employees who are stress-free are also much more likely to be productive when compared to employees who are suffering the ill-effects of stress. Having a stress-free workplace is vital for the effective running of a business, and the businesses productivity.
Engaging in corporate yoga can reduce stress just through its holistic practice. Vinyasa sequences and Hatha practice are just two types of yoga which can greatly benefit the mind and body by relieving stress and reengaging the body’s chakras.
5. INCREASE in MORALE
Highly stressful environments impact mental wellbeing, hampering the morale of employees. Such an unhealthy environment can cultivate irritability and frustration among employees, which leads to heightened disagreements and impacts motivation and productivity.
Yoga can elevate employees' moods by reducing and relieving stress. This improves both their mental and physical health, and boosts confidence and motivation.
It also creates a more harmonious workplace by introducing the idea of team morale. A group that practices yoga together will have a joint experience, and will bask in the benefits of the practice together, strengthening bonds.
Ultimately this fosters a much healthier workforce, which shows in increased levels of productivity.
workplace benefits:
The corporate workplace can be highly stressful and demanding. More companies than ever before are signing up for employee assistance programs to negate the negative effects that such heightened levels of stress are having on their employees.
Creating a healthy work environment improves employees' physical and mental health. One such factor in having a healthy work environment is to promote exercise. Exercise benefits all of us because it releases endorphins, making us less stressed, and boosting our happiness levels.
Yoga has long been accredited for its physical and mental health benefits. Yoga’s poses and meditative qualities are hailed as holistic health benefits that can have a myriad of positive effects on a person's health.
In the workplace, these positive effects can greatly benefit employees. Confidence, productivity and motivation levels can all be raised, while concentration and focus can be heightened.
Another advantage is that corporate yoga is cost and time effective. A corporate yoga class could be performed in 20 minutes, meaning it doesn’t take time out of the day.
Why not give corporate yoga a try for your business and see positive results it can bring about in your workplace?

Ziqitza Rajasthan- How to Exercise During Quarantine
A long, misty nature’s walk on a monsoon morning is everyone’s perfect recipe for their morning workout session. But with the onslaught of the pandemic and the world record-breaking spike of the Coronavirus cases in India (80 thousand in one day), it is ironically no longer healthier or safer for people to exercise outside their homes.
Gyms have been shut down for public health safety reasons and in some states like Uttar Pradesh; there is still the enforcement of a lockdown on weekends. People, after some strong efforts, have been able to find mental normalcy by oiling their minds with practices like reading and writing, but many are still struggling on how to keep their body fit during the quarantine.
Well, Ziqitza Healthcare ltd has come up with some healthy practices tips to oil up the machinery that is the human body in healthy but more importantly safer ways in the pandemic caused by the Corona Virus.
Home Gyms
People who are in extremely good physical shape and visit the gym regularly gain not only firm, powerful muscles but also the respect from others who want to be motivated to do so too. This respect is garnered for gym-goers because of their tenacity and rock hard schedules.
However, because of this global spread of a deadly disease, gyms and other public spaces of exercise like yoga parks have been shut down to prevent further propagation. So it has been tough for gym-goers to develop a new routine in the absence of a gym.
The first approach would be to build a home gym in a section of your house. Various e-commerce websites like Amazon and Flipkart provide home gyms with a whole array of different setups. You can buy a fully functioning, expensive gym set with all the instruments, or if money and space are a hindrance there are many cheap options available too.
Home Exercise Routine
Not everyone wants to build a home gym in their homes as the gym equipment oftentimes is expensive and there is also the hassle of managing entire machinery on your own. So, one healthy way for you to not let your body sit idle in quarantine is to develop an at-home workout regime. These can utilize dumbbells or can be completely free of any external equipment.
Many sites will help you in developing a home exercise routine but the most important thing for you to know is what is aptly suited for your body. Take your time and construct a safe regime in which your body can grow but not get injured as the absence of trainers can often result in incorrect forms and avoidable mistakes.
Here is a home gym exercise routine.
Here is a dumbbell exercise routine.
Here is a No equipment exercise routine.
Exercising Outdoors In A Pandemic
Not everyone can take to the ‘suffocation’ of working out indoors all the time. Sometimes it is needed to step out and work out surrounded by nature. But with the looming threat of COVID-19, this leisure activity has become a rare, occasional occurrence.
Ziqitza advises you to exercise indoors as much as you can, but if you are going out to exercise, you should always choose a spot that has a sparse human frequency. You should try to avoid contact with other people as much as you can as it’s a double-edged sword. You could be an asymptomatic carrier and infect them but they could also an asymptomatic carrier and infect you. So don’t go for a jog on a road that will have a lot of people traveling by it, instead try to run inside your living complex or on less frequented service roads.
If you do decide to workout outdoors, try to choose a time when most people would be inside their homes. Early morning yoga at maybe 5 am or late evenings around 8 pm would provide comparatively less propagation to the CoronaVirus. Each drop counts.
PPE To Wear While Exercising Outdoors
Personal protective equipment including masks and gloves contrary to popular opinion can and should be worn while exercising. In cardio exercises like running and cycling, a mask is a must as there are higher chances of coming in contact with other humans.
Moreover, the chances of spreading the virus increase by tenfold if a jogger is not wearing a mask as the rate of breath entering and exiting his/her mouth are very high. An asymptomatic carrier could potentially infect hundreds of people by not wearing a mask while running.
A mask is highly recommended if you are stepping out to exercise during the pandemic.
However, don’t force yourself to wear a mask if you find it extremely difficult to breath. Studies show that tall, thin people have comparatively under developed lungs that might collapse due to exercising while wearing a mask. So please wear a mask if you’re exercising mildly, but for heavy workouts it is okay to take off your PPE for a while.
Social Distancing While Exercising
Performing a sweaty workout is no excuse for not wearing a mask and refusing to maintain a 6 feet distance from other humans. The number of COVID -19 cases in India is rising and there is no prediction of them going down without a miracle. So do your part and always avoid coming in contact with people whenever it is possible. Do try to exercise in sparsely populated public areas.
Moderation
Like everything, the key to exercising safely outdoors in a pandemic is moderation. Mix things up. Exercise at your home on weekdays and go outside for runs on the weekends. Or you could rotate between home workouts and outdoor exercise every other day. If it is avoidable, and that too easily, stay inside. It is safer there and it makes the world safer too.
