Life reconstruction of Anchiornis and one of its contour feathers by Rebecca Gelernter that includes several accepted, novel and hypothetical aspects, representing a bold departure from previous paravian artwork. Body outline (e.g. soft-tissue-joined fingers) is based on the reconstructed high-detail LSF study of Wang et al. (2017a). Present are the novel contour feathers described here, resulting in a ‘shaggy’ appearance to the plumage. The digits of the hands and feet are fully covered in feathers, as in fossil specimens. The colour pattern is based on Li et al. (2010).

Science media are reporting today that feathered dinosaurs may have been "fluffier" that previously thought:

Researchers examined, at high resolution, an exceptionally-preserved fossil of the crow-sized paravian dinosaur Anchiornis -- comparing its fossilised feathers to those of other dinosaurs and extinct birds.

The feathers around the body of Anchiornis, known as contour feathers, revealed a newly-described, extinct, primitive feather form consisting of a short quill with long, independent, flexible barbs erupting from the quill at low angles to form two vanes and a forked feather shape.

The observations were made possible by decay processes that separated some of these feathers from the body prior to burial and fossilisation, making their structure easier to interpret.

Such feathers would have given Anchiornis a fluffy appearance relative to the streamlined bodies of modern flying birds, whose feathers have tightly-zipped vanes forming continuous surfaces. Anchiornis's unzipped feathers might have affected the animal's ability to control its temperature and repel water, possibly being less effective than the vanes of most modern feathers. This shaggy plumage would also have increased drag when Anchiornis glided.

      What I love –

Its packaging is fancy

It has a vanilla fruity scent

It keeps the lips soft and hydrated

It doesn’t settle in fine lines

Its texture is luxurious

Its finish is flawless

A tiny amount of product is enough to fill the lips

  What I don’t Love –

It smudges easily

It needs a lip liner

It needs a lip brush to apply

Its cushion tip absorbs a lot of product (if not being careful)

  As much as I loved the fancy packaging and all, the cushion tip is a bummer for me! First time I ended up squeezing a lot of product than required and in no time saw that the tip has absorbed. If not careful, the product can end pretty fast!

And since it, an intense gloss (and with summer just around the corner) using a matching or a slightly darker lip liner seems to give better results. And if you don’t want product wastage, using a lip brush to fill in the lips seems to do the trick.

  However, using the cushion tip definitely gives a flawless application. It also means the right amount of product is applied on lips and rest is back on cushion tip!

And like always using a lip liner helps. It not only protects the gloss from smudging, it also gives the précised application too.

  Unfortunately, just like any other gloss, it smudges. But here’s the trick!

  Dab a tissue over the lips to turn this intense gloss into semi-matte!

(Using fingertips also seems to give similar effect)

    And like always, I tried mixing these two colors and got a beautiful lavender blush pink color. Here’s how it looks –

  As much as I complain about smudging, these colors have an amazing formula and finish. Wish these were convenient to buy!
