How to make games: RTS
Once, on a particularly lethargic day at work, In a moment of office stagnation and fatigue I realized "It actually wouldn't make a fucking difference if I was even playing an RTS since this is about the level of excitement I derive from those too,". So let's talk about Real-Time Strategy games! If sitting around accomplishing nothing sounds like a good time to you, check your back for encroaching fungus, because you're probably a literal sloth. You're also the demographic for RTS games, but that's a different handicap entirely. Anyways, making an RTS is easy because nothing, least of the dev cycle, is expected to move quickly, so if it takes you 15 years to churn out a sequel, that's perfectly fine, because Korea will still play it. Therefore you can take all the time in the world to make some isometric angle maps with random hills, valleys, and resource spawn points that are way too fucking far away from the base camp, you filthy asshole why would you put it over there I can't even begin to make progress on this fucking map, you asshats. I mean, after the maps are polished to the point where they are perfect - an irrelevant fact due to everyone keeping their camera as far out as humanly possible, like we were watching the action from the bird's eye view of a majestic eagle with a telescope - you can make the obligatory three factions. What three factions, you ask? Any three factions, be they fictional or based on actual history, but there's always three. The big guys who are resource-intensive and slow to build but each individual unit is a powerhouse, the small, speedy shitstains who require nothing to produce and upkeep but have the HP of moistened rice paper, and the guys who are in the middle of the two extremes. Play a few rounds with each to find out which one will be meta-dominant and then ignore the other two entirely when you get around to the eSports part of this equation. Which, if we're lucky, is fucking never because RTS games can only be made more boring by watching them in lieu of playing them. You can take on a sci-fi or fantasy motif if that's your thing, but personally, I prefer historic-themed strategy games because not only do you get to crow on about how """educational""" your game is by copy+pasting blurbs from history textbooks, but then you get to do shit like showing up to a war with your rivals armed with steel weapons and armor just as they're getting around to discovering bronze smithing. For historical context, that would be like time-travelers showing up in the 100 Years War with AK-47s. Motifs aside, the core gameplay is the same as you conquer resources like mines, rivers, towns, and rival-held resource locations in order to sit on your hands for a while and build up your forces while the AI players suck their thumbs and rival humans will attempt to Zerg Rush you at earliest possible moment. If you're like me and don't have any friends, but you want to experience the receiving end of a Zerg Rush for yourselves, you always have the option of eating nothing but Chipotle for lunch for several days straight. It's kinda like that. So, just copy a map of Europe and parts of Africa and Asia, plop down some countries and some resource locations and most of the work is already done. Music needs to come from either the "elevator" genre or the "intense Celtic metal" subgenre with no particular subtle segues between them. Once you have that, just pay some bored people off the street to provide some voice lines for your various ruler types and you're on your way. While beta testing, make sure that 80% of the game involves sitting on your hands and that sufficient time is made to roast an oven-perfect turkey before any legitimate action gets underway, but once it does, make sure it's hectic and crowded enough that sub-par processors drop frames like a clumsy optometrist. Once the action in an RTS starts, it basically doesn't stop until one side or the other is completely annihilated. Make sure no actual war tactics work, either. Things like positioning and unit movement should be handled automatically - never, ever give your players any sense of agency or, Heaven forbid, strategy in your strategy game. If you accidentally break ground and having a legitimate understanding of history, warfare tactics, and related sciences giving your players a leg up will raise expectations for your expansion pa-- I mean-- sequels. The sequels that will come out in 15 years, yes, of course. After all, we don't want to be arsed to re-invent the entire genre until at LEAST the eighth installment, if Sid Meier is to be believed. So be sure you don't, that way the bar is set nice 'n' low for RTS 2: RTS Harder. Once you have absolute mediocrity down to a fine art, you're more or less set for an entire franchise! Just keep telling your fans that the sequel is totally, totally coming! Really, all you need to do is keep releasing expansion packs to your first game, gradually expanding the map a few hundred miles more across Eurasia until you suddenly have Nobunaga's Ambition pressing lawsuits. Congrats, you can now turn out a lump of 'meh'. You could shoot for so much more and make it so much bigger, faster, and more in-depth, but, hey, expansion pack sales are good, so I guess I'm the retard here. You're welcome. *Sigh.* This feels a little phoned-in compared to the others. Just this once, I'm gonna make this a two-fer. Only because RTS is not really my genre of choice. Hope this makes it up to you. Hey, do you wanna make a MOBA? Start by looking into a mirror. Make sure you can plainly see yourself without too much difficulty. Take a rubber mallet in your dominant hand. Place your off-hand flat on the counter. Hit your off-hand with the mallet until you realize this is a bad idea. Literally nothing good has ever come from a MOBA. Seriously, you're just shitting into a mountain of already-solidified shit. Don't fucking do it. Congrats, you avoided contributing another mistake into a pool of mistakes. You're welcome.

https://rwby-rants-and-theories.tumblr.com/post/164052495923/i-seriously-dont-understand-why-rt-would-bother
You severely misunderstand your relationship to the CRWBY
I seriously don’t understand why RT would bother putting songs in the RW/BY official soundtracks if none of them were “actually canon.”
Moreover, I cannot, for the life of me, understand why Jeff would say so in such a condescending and dismissive manner. People buy these songs because they love and enjoy them not just because they’re great in their own merit, but because of the innate connection they have to the story, and the relatability these people find in it.
Telling people to “go outside” because the songs don’t really have those meanings when they’re found in the official soundtrack for the show is not just biting the hand that feeds you. You’re stepping on it and calling it delusional. You’re working against the greater project you’re a part of.
Adding in songs that aren’t really related to RW/BY is well and fine, artists do that all the time. But to say that none of it is in any way related to the show and you’re keeping it vague just so it can somehow fit is just senseless. These songs are way too specific to the situations and motifs of the characters that they can’t just not mean anything.
The patronage of your fans keeps food on the table. It’s utterly retroactive, and quite frankly insulting, to antagonize and berate them.Â
Maybe because fans would like the songs: Some people engage in media because they like it, not because they want to see a 100% reflection of themselves in it.
Maybe Jeff is being so cold towards is because A. People have been attacking him over a song. B. Attacked his co-worker over a song. C. Has the gall to try and take the moral high ground even though when this exact same thing happened to Black Sun, no batted an eye. D. They imply that his songs aren’t good enough on their own. E. They are trying to limit his creative freedom And F. They have been attacking his coworkers for years now and he’s getting sick of it.
And now he’s taking it out on the fans because you proclaim to be the only “true” fans in the fandom, make the biggest stink and screech the loudest thus you look like the fandom at whole.
AKA The exact same thing I TRY to prevent. COngrats, you justified what I do here.
And now you are trying to use Jeff as a pawn in your little game of “How can I abuse RT until they give me what I want?” Not everybody or even a majority of people listen to the songs because “relatability”: they listen to the songs because they are good songs.
Actually NO: Jeff isn’t biting the hand. Because you all are a very small minority whereas the rest of the fans don’t give a shit about the canonicity of a single song. He’s just rightfully insulting a group of people blowing this out of proportion.
In fact, YOU are the ones biting the hands: RT has no obligation to you RWDE posters except a single LGBT character. Nothing else. If you want them to listen to you or value you in any regard at all, you had better start treating them like human beings or else they can just flip you off and listen to the other fans.
Not really: Everyone has their own intereptation fo a character, their relationship with others and how they act. Some people just read too much into crap.
And I’m just gonna debunk you here with one simple fact: The End Of Evangelion made over 13 million dollars. The budget probably didn’t even break 1 million,. And that whole movie was basically the creator giving you giant Reason You Suck Speech to his fans (Who acted in a suspiciously similar way to you) and got rich off of it. Evangelion as a whole is one fo the most profitable anime franchises of all time and it spends half of it’s time insulting it’s audience. And also: Evangelion is an influence on RWBY. Do you wanna see how much of an influence it is?
Bottom line: RT doesn’t need YOU at all, especially since your tag advocates piracy. You DO need them. This is an entirely one sided relationship that you have fooled yourself into thinking is equal. You don’t get to play victim anymore: You lost that right a very long time ago.

Day 160 of School: Happy/sad day
Day 159 of School: Was okay. Got a headache on the left side of my head. Suckish part is that we have a band concert today and my friends and I have to wear our concert uniforms! It makes me look, well, thick! Plus it is a little (or a lot) uncomfortable!
Day 158 of School: Pretty good. Felt a little sad the moment the Seniors gave us the key and finding out that they will graduate and be leaving to the real world. Years went by so fast. My friends were emotional, whether they showed it or not.
Day 157 of School: It was okay. Got a dress down day, but you get to the point where wearing the same clothes is not a good idea. Wore a Pollo Shirt, which was pink and white, that my dad gave me from India.

Day 150 of School: TGIF! I'm surprised to even stay awake.
Day 149 of School: Okay. Lunch time was a little sad since it was just a sandwhich. If it was grilled cheese, then it would have been WAAAAYYY BETTA!! Also, it rained pretty hard and I was like, "YEEESSS!!!" in my mind, even though so didn't like the rain
Day 148 of School: Felt tired and weird
Day 147 of School: Forgot it was Class Picture day and that we had to wear our chapel uniform. Luckily my brother reminded me so I didn't come in a wrong uniform.
Day 146 of School: Felt horrible for some reason.
Day 145 of School: Was okay. Felt really tired since I stayed up last night. Went to the airport! Glad to see him come back to U.S.

Day 139a of School: We went on a field trip to the JFK The Sixth Floor Museum! It was interesting to learn about the President and the events that happened.
Day 138 of School: Presented it to my school and they liked it! Also heard something that was very surprising :D
Day 137 of School: Was okay. Felt tired though
Day 136 of School: Well, did my tests which sucked cause I forget the items I just studied or memorized. Also, other things had to make it worse
Day 135 of School: Okay. Felt sleepy though. ONLY 30 days til Summer!!
Day 134 of School: Was okay-ish. I was happy to hear everyone's congrats for the result on my Oratory. Really appreciate it!
Day 133 of School: Ya know
Day 132 of School: Well, the power went out and I thought we might go home. Guess what? It came back on. Felt weird without some people.
Day 131 of School: It was okay. Though as usual, I am mad at getting homework even though you will get homework no matter what. I just don't like it when it is always due the next day though. Did the drill and worked out okay for some class :D
Day 130 of School: Went well. I was uncomfortable wearing my band uniform since it made me look weird and too big for it. I looked fat in it! Anyway, we did really good and got good scores!
Day 129 of School: Okay. Suckish part was we had a test but forgot to do the notecard. Would have been so much easier
Day 128 of School: Okay.
Day 127 of School: Okay-ish. Just not used to coming back after a break. Plus my mind felt different for some reason. Can't wait for summer! This month will be a busy one for sure. Just like last month
Day 125 of School: Okay. Went to a La Perla restaurant and got myself Chicken Quesadilla, which tasted great.
Day 124 of School: Okay. Still want this week to be over with.
Day 123 of School: Okay. Saw the new student. Sad thing is that the gerbil from the science lab has left us. But she is in a betta place. But the day felt tiring and sickening. Felt sick especially my throat. As usual, just want this week to be over with.
Day 122 of School: Okay. Have to go to a meeting which I want it to be over with so I can have preparation time for tomorrow's event. Hope it's over by 7:30!
Day 121 of School: Tired of hearing the same phrase that's really annoying. Pretty good day, I guess.
Day 120 of School: Pretty good. Was tired though. But, it then led to a more, horrible day on one of the specific time since I had to explain something that involve not staying for long.
Day 119 of School: I guess it was okay. I'm sick of hearing the same phrase over and over again about things that aint necessary.
Day 118 of School: One of those normal days where you DON'T feel like coming to school after that long, awesome, peace, Spring break! It was okay but things that I listened to made me a little mad since I aint a fan of it or don't like it.
Day 117 of School: TOOK A HALF DAY TODAY!!! HAVE A WONDERFUL SPRING BREAK EVERYONE!!! #SpringBreak
Day 116 of School: Pretty good. Ate grilled cheese w/ bacon for lunch. Taking the Merit Reward which is Half-Day tomorrow since I don't want to do the same mistake I did last year which was NOT USE ANY OF IT!!! First time to use it btw!
Day 115 of School: Okay. Felt a little sick for some reason and now I got a headache. Still miss the Seniors though. Hope ya'll are having fun in Costa Rica!
Day 114 of School: Pretty good. I'm happy that my friends cared for me. It was appreciative though my mind made it into anger. But still, it was great
Day 113 of School: Was okay. Felt weird without some of the Seniors in the school. Hope they have a fun time at Costa Rica!
Day 112 of School: Okay. Angry since I had to get up early. Now I got a headache.
Day 111 of School: Pretty good. Got a McChicken btw
Day 110 of School: Okay. It was actually okay. I'm not much of a fan on bazaar especially when it is after educational institution
Day 109 of School: Was horrible then it went better. Might stop being unhappy. I guess part of the reason was thinking something might happen by force. Things that might interfere my time, and also, getting other problems.
Day 108 of School: Went like patterns. Good then bad, then stressful. Then happiness, and then another problem.
Day 107 of School: Pretty okay-ish
Day 106 of School: Trying to get used to the changes after the problems. Im going to stick with what I just did rather than do something that might later give me problems. Today was more of a HORRIBLE and okay-ish
Day 105 of School: It went horrible. I feel nervous
Day 104 of School: Was okay. There were times where I didn't want to talk because I felt like I might say something weird or confusing. But it went okay. Don't want to jinx it though

Day 102 of School: Was okay, actually. Felt nervous for things and life and all.
Day 101 of School: Already mentioned it. Best Valentine's Day of 2018. Gotta love my friends!
Day 100 of School: Kinda well. The game went kinda well too. Still in silence mode since I said it might take next week to become normal and all.
Day 99 of School: Happy my friends cared about me. Kept telling them I am waiting for a day where I will be normal, fun me. Might take awhile anyway. Today was okay. Felt like I was dumb in each classes for some reason. At the end, it was sad since I felt bad. Hope things go well
Day 98 of School: *Didn’t tweet on that day due to numerous students being sick. School was closed on that day.*

Day 95 of School: I felt horrible and sucked and other things. Felt dumb as well
Day 94 of School: Was okay. Felt bad for not talking much but waiting for a day where I can be normal. For now, might remain what I am doing now. Hoping things go well.
Day 93 of School: It was okay. It was like a sad day. Suckish part was to stop something just for someone's funness. Mind felt angry about it. We played Heads up, seven up. Only played two rounds. Third round I stopped since I got a nosebleed. Common nosebleed anyway :D
Day 92 of School: I feel like I got forced or got told what to do. Didn't talk much. Game went pretty well.

Russell Westbrook was the best thing about the NBA all season
Why not? The Thunder star made the NBA worth watching from start to finish.
The Year of the Brodie began the same way as every classic tale of vengeance, redemption, and maturity: with a text message. When Kevin Durant notified Russell Westbrook he was leaving Oklahoma City for the rival Golden State Warriors with that text, the most transcendent individual season in recent NBA history was set into motion.
Russell Westbrook’s assault on the basketball record books has been the biggest story in the sport ever since. Westbrook may not be the best player in the NBA, but there’s no denying he’s been the league’s most captivating figure throughout its marathon 82-game regular season and first round of the playoffs.
This was the season Westbrook became the first player since Oscar Robertson to average a triple-double, but it was so much more than that. Westbrook’s year of inhuman achievement was powered by an emotional core any fan could relate to. He was petty, funny, embarrassing, disappointing, and spectacular, often all at the same time.
Westbrook completed the Year of Russ by winning his first-ever NBA MVP award and brining the entire experience full circle. Westbrook gave us a season that will endure decades from now. This is how it happened.

When Durant announced his decision to leave OKC on July 4, Westbrook’s initial response was seemingly innocuous: he posted a plate of cupcakes from his holiday party on Instagram. We know now there was a hidden message behind the picture.
The story comes from the great Lee Jenkins of Sports Illustrated, who included this anecdote in his preseason profile of Westbrook:
When Kendrick Perkins played center for the Thunder, he called teammates “cupcake” if he thought they were acting a little soft. Westbrook and Durant adopted the term in jest. Westbrook posted a bittersweet pic on Instagram: three plates of cupcakes topped by red and blue stars and sprinkles.
Is it still a subtweet if it’s on Instagram instead of Twitter? Either way, this subtle dig was incredible. It set the tone for everything that was to come.

A perfect reaction to an angry fan
Game No. 1 in Russell Westbrook’s historic season did not start off with a triple-double, but it still contained one of his most memorable moments. A Philadelphia fan flipped Westbrook the double bird, and he gave us a reaction that can be meme’d forever.
Westbrook handled that better than a lot of other people would have.
The first 50-point triple-double
youtube
Westbrook didn’t wait long to start re-imagining what was possible in the modern NBA. In only the second game of the season against the Phoenix Suns, Westbrook finished with 51 points, 13 rebounds, and 10 assists. It was the first 50-point triple-double since Kareem Abdul-Jabbar did it in 1975.
This was just the beginning for Westbrook. He would finish with three 50-point triple-doubles on the season.
“Official Photographer”
The world was watching when Westbrook’s Thunder and Durant’s Warriors met for the first time on Nov. 4. The hype was out of control for this game and Westbrook took it to another level when he showed up at Oracle Arena wearing a pinny that said “Official Photographer”.
This was immediately perceived as another subtle shot at Kevin Durant, who enjoys taking photographs in his free time:
Westbrook said got the outfit in Madrid and that it wasn’t a shot at KD. Sure.

It sure sounds like Westbrook yells “THANK YOU, KYRIE” as he ran into the tunnel after hitting his last shot.

Westbrook and Durant get into a shouting match mid-court
The tension in the Russ-KD cold war finally boiled over on Feb. 11 when Durant made his highly anticipated return to OKC. With the Warriors starting to pull away in the third quarter, Westbrook and Durant began jawing at mid-court.
You can see Westbrook yell “I’m coming!” repeatedly as the teams head to the bench. This was a weird night in general and the entire NBA community was probably glad when it was over.
Westbrook and Durant connect for a heartwarming All-Star alley-oop

Westbrook broke Oscar Robertson’s record for triple-doubles in a season with his 42nd on April 9. That’s only part of the reason this night was so memorable.
