Speak with confidence ! Overcome your fear of public speaking with the powerful technique of systematic desensitisation.
Follow these simple steps to gradually face your fears, build confidence and reduce anxiety (it really helps)
1️⃣ Make a list of speaking situations from least to most anxiety provoking (this is really important). Start with situations that make you slightly nervous, speaking in front of a small group of friends or colleagues.
example: speaking to a small group of close good friends.
2️⃣ Before any public speaking, practice relaxation techniques to calm your mind and body(don’t skip this). Deep breathing, where you inhale deeply through your nose and exhale slowly through your mouth, helps release tension.
example: take a deep breath in for four counts, hold for four counts, and exhale slowly for six counts.
3️⃣ Start with the least anxiety- provoking situation from your fear hierarchy. (always start with the easy one from the list) Imagine yourself in that situation while practicing relaxation techniques. If possible, try speaking in front of a mirror or a supportive friend.
example: practice delivering a short speech to a close friend or family member.
4️⃣ Once you feel comfortable and your anxiety level decreases in one situation, move on to the next, slightly more challenging speaking scenario. Repeat the process of gradual exposure and relaxation.
example: present a topic to a small group of colleagues or classmates.
5️⃣ Consistent is key! Keep practicing & preparing systematic desensitisation, moving up on your fear hierarchy with each successful experience. (prepare & practice again & again), Celebrate your journey & your progress along the way, as each step forward brings you closer to your goal.
example: gradually work your way up to speaking in front of larger audience or at events.

How to give a great presentation?
Giving an excellent presentation and being a great presenter requires a lot of practice and patience. Because giving a presentation is a valuable communication skill. Only some have good communication skills, which is entirely normal. But, with time and practice, you can have this valuable communication skill.
In this article, we will be discussing how to give a great presentation.
There are times in both educational and professional life when you get an opportunity to give a presentation and want to ensure everything runs smoothly. Many people take public speaking courses and spend time developing their presentation skills to prepare themselves for future offers.
We have a few simple tips to share that can improve your way of giving presentations. We all know a presentation, but only some understand what makes a great presentation.
What makes a presentation great?
Impactful: A great presentation is when the listeners not only remember you and your presentation but also develop a motivation to agree with what you are explaining or serving.
Information: The presentation contains well-researched data, accurate information, and impressive slides. Remember you are presenting to win or achieve the final decision of the listeners; a well-presented slide followed by your pitch can make your presentation great.
What worries you when giving a presentation?
Giving a presentation is no less than an opportunity. If you are a student, the presentation will not only help you to score a grade but will also improve your skills. And if you are giving a presentation on behalf of your company or team, it can lead you to new success.
But, only some have the confidence to present because of their public speaking fear or low communication skills. However, there are public speaking courses that can help you to overcome this fear. But understanding what worries you when presenting is also essential.
Some everyday worries include the following:
Fear of acceptance
Lack of preparation
Negative thoughts
Nervousness
Fear of public speaking
How to prepare for a great presentation?
Keep your presentation simple
Keeping your presentation simple means keeping it simple yet effective. Understand the key points, topics, and conclusions you want to give your listeners. You want to avoid being stuck in between or pausing to look at your presentation. It will only show that you still need to prepare. Use bullet points, and present them so the audience can understand them.
Create captivating slides
Always view your presentation from the audience's perspective. Ask yourself what slides should go first and keep them logical,.engaging, and attractive.
Add visual aids
Feel free to add pictures, graphs, and videos wherever necessary. Visual representation always supports explaining things effectively. Use images to keep your points and opinions.
Follow the 10-20-30 rule.
You may or may have yet to hear of the 10-20-30 presentation rule. This rule states that you should use at most 10 slides in your presentation, it should last for only 20 minutes, and 30 should be the font size in your presentation.
How to give a great presentation?
Here is how you can give an excellent presentation. By following these tips, you can keep your audience attentive and engaged.
Stay strong and tell stories.
To begin your presentation, you can always craft a story related to your presentation. It will help the audience to understand the idea behind your presentation. People who have done public speaking courses will understand this one. You can also leave a question on them in the beginning, let them wonder about it, and end your presentation with the answer or solution. But everything should be interrelated to your presentation.
Make eye contact
Maintaining eye contact with the audience will not only help you to grab their attention to listen to you but also creates an impression and connection that you are speaking to them.
Show enthusiasm
It's essential to show your passion and excitement to the listeners. Your passion and confidence in delivering a presentation should be visible to the audience. They will enjoy listening to your topic if you are genuinely excited to present.
Body language
Refrain from restricting yourself to the presentation and verbal communication. Instead, use nonverbal communication to support your ideas and concepts.
Move around the floor, only standing in one place for part of the presentation. Use your facial expressions to show your real-time reactions to the PowerPoint. Go near your audience and make eye contact while explaining.
Plan everything
Planning is vital, no matter how new or a pro you are at giving a presentation. You should always plan everything, from searching for reliable sources or data to delivering your presentation. It will only help you for good. The more you plan, implement and practice, the more you will be confident and fearless on the presentation day.
Listen to your audience.
In a presentation, it is common for your audience to cut you in between and ask questions or doubts. In such cases, listen to what they say before answering their queries politely and formally. They might ask you to give details of a particular bullet point, so prepare beforehand.
Use you voice
One way to make your presentation great is to keep your voice clear and compelling. Your audience should understand what you are presenting. It should be quiet. You must be confident when speaking and maintain it till the end.
You can practice your voice tone by recording and listening. It will help you to notice the faults to be rectified. If you feel nervousness in your voice, first try calming yourself down.
Conclusion
That's how you can give a great presentation, and it's just that you need some practice, confidence, and public speaking skills. You can improve your presentation skills with the help of public speaking courses.
