NFL Week 4 Winners and Losers
Tumblr media

Date; October 2, 2024
Week 4 is wrapped up, and some teams stayed as winners, but some teams were really losers—and not in a good way. Let's see who is in camps and damps this week.
WINNER
Cincinnati Bengals
The Bengals won their first game of the season by knocking off their former quarterback, Andy Dalton, and the Carolina Panthers 34-24. Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow went 22-of-31 for 232 yards and 2 touchdowns, along with running back Chase Brown, who carried the ball 15 times for 80 yards and two touchdowns. The Bengals went to Charlotte and won the game with ease. They are now heading to the Windy City to play the Chicago Bears.
WINNER
Indianapolis Colts
The Colts surprised everybody by defeating the strong Pittsburgh Steelers 24-27 on Sunday. Indianapolis lost their starting quarterback, Anthony Richardson, to a hip injury in the first half of the game. Back-up quarterback Joe Flacco finished the game, going for 16-of-26 passes for 168 yards and two touchdowns. The 17-year veteran quarterback kept the Colts ahead of the Steelers throughout the entire game, extending the Colts' win streak to 2.
It's unsure whether Joe Flacco will start on Sunday against the winless Jaguars, but it should be an automatic win.
WINNER
Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders
The Commanders are looking like a playoff team. They are sitting in first place in the NFC East and racking up 98 points in their three-game win streak. Rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels stormed past the Arizona Cardinals 42-14, and it wasn't even close. This was Washington's first game of scoring 40+ points since 2016.
On a high note for Daniels, he has set a rookie record for having the highest completion percentage by a rookie in his first four games, at 82.1%. For example, the rookie quarterback only had 106 passes he threw this season. 18 of them were incomplete, and only 1 was picked off. That is a very impressive stat.
Commanders fly home from the desert to take on the struggling Cleveland Browns.
LOSERS
New York Jets
You can blame the weather for losing to a team that had -12 passing yards in the first half, let alone 60 total passing yards throughout an entire game. There is something going on in the Jets locker room that we don't know, and it's not good.
The Jets play the Vikings in London; let's hope it doesn't rain on Sunday.
LOSERS
Jacksonville Jaguars
You are now the only winless team in the NFL.
LOSERS
Buffalo Bills
I expected a better game from Buffalo. Only being able to put in 10 points is unheard of with Josh Allen under center, but they put all of the blame on the offense. Allen is not on defense, giving up 200 rushing yards, especially an 87-yard touchdown run from Derrick Henry.
The Bills have a chance to bounce back on Sunday against the Texans, playing against their former star wide receiver, Stefon Diggs.
LOSERS
Minnesota Vikings
I might get hate on this. Yes, the Vikings won, and they are 4-0. But almost blowing a 28-0 lead against your division rival is not talked about enough. How do you allow the Green Bay Packers to have a 29-3 run? You don't put your fan base in panic mode, especially if you're fighting for first place in the NFC North.
However, the Vikings can go 5-0 if they can beat the Jets on Sunday in London……especially if it rains.
Was there anyone I missed? Let me know!

The Gridiron Awakens: NFL's Summer Slumber Comes to an End
By Joseph Correa
Follow @Frontproofmedia!function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0],p=/^http:/.test(d.location)?'http':'https';if(!d.getElementById(id))(document, 'script', 'twitter-wjs');
As summer's dog days start to wane, a familiar buzz electrifies the air across America. The unmistakable sound of cleats on turf, the rhythmic thud of pigskins flying through the air, and the grunts of behemoths colliding in controlled chaos can mean only one thing: NFL training camps.
Today's the big day: veterans from 23 NFL franchises report for duty. Call it the league's version of the first day of school. Still, instead of fresh notebooks and sharpened pencils, these gridiron warriors come armed with playbooks and protein shakes.
From the sun-baked fields of Arizona to the windswept shores of New England, players are making their way to team facilities. This year's roll call is a veritable who's who of powerhouses and underdogs alike: the Bills, seeking to break through into the AFC once and for all; the defending NFC champion 49ers, hungry for redemption; and the Jets, with a certain future Hall of Fame quarterback in tow, looking to make waves in the Big Apple.
It signals an end to football's brief summer vacation and starts a frenetic march toward Super Bowl LIX in the Big Easy. Before the bright lights of New Orleans come calling, though, these athletes will endure weeks of rugged preparation. Training camp is no summer vacation. It's a crucible where careers are forged, roster spots are won and lost, and where a championship run is built upon.
With the best views of their favorite teams coming out for the first time, players must prepare themselves for the battles ahead. Two-a-days, position battles, and relentless striving for perfection are in order. For veterans, it is a time to fine-tune their craft and help mentor the next generation. For rookies and fringe players, every rep is an audition to turn heads and secure NFL dreams. It's a requirement of dedication and hard work, demanding respect and admiration for the players.
By Wednesday, the NFL machine will be in full swing as the other four teams—the Falcons, Cowboys, Colts, and the newly-christened Steers—report. From east to west, 32 teams will be united in purpose with each believing, "This could be our year.".
First whistles and first sweat—right there, one thing would be for sure: the long-awaited return of football is finally here, and with it, the thrilling journey to Super Bowl glory officially begins. Let the games begin, and let the exciting vibe of the upcoming NFL season fill the atmosphere.
Four clubs report Wednesday (Falcons, Cowboys, Colts, Steers), after which all 32 clubs will be preparing for the '24 campaign.

[ad_1] USATSI Jonathan Taylor is looking to continue his football carer elsewhere. Taylor has requested a trade from the Indianapolis Colts after asking for a new contract to begin training camp, CBS Sports NFL Insider Jonathan Jones confirms after it was first reported by NFL Media. Taylor is entering the final year of his rookie contract and has merited an extension from the team that made him a second-round pick three years ago. In three seasons with the Colts, Taylor has rushed for 3,841 yards and 33 touchdowns while also having 802 receiving yards and three touchdowns. He's the second-fastest player in team history to rush for 3,000 yards (33 games), as only Edgerrin James was faster (30 games). His 36 touchdowns are the second most by a Colts player after their first three seasons. Colts owner Jim Irsay admitted Thursday no contract talks have taken place with Taylor, not even exchanging any numbers. As the running back market continues to get worse, Taylor chimed in his thoughts earlier this month on running backs not getting paid.  CBS Sports will have more to come on this story as it develops. facts about John Madden that you probably didn't know about the Hall of Fame coach and broadcaster
John Madden was lifted aloft by his team after the Raiders won their first Super Bowl on January 9, 1977. And, despite reaching the pinnacle of his profession at the age of 40, Madden was still in the early stages of an unrivalled football career that encompassed ten years as an NFL head coach and another 30 years in broadcasting. Madden is also the creator of the most recognisable football video game of all time. Madden was elected into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2006, when he was 85 years old. Madden advised the NFL's competition committee and safety panel after retiring from broadcasting. With a new documentary on Madden's career scheduled to premiere on Christmas Day, here are five facts about the great coach and the voice of NFL Sundays for a generation of football fans.
Tumblr media
Career-ending injury a blessing in disguise Madden's NFL career ended almost as fast as it started, when the Philadelphia Eagles selected him 244th overall in the 1958 draught. During his rookie training camp, he had a knee injury. Madden opted to spend his leisure time reviewing video with quarterback Norm Van Brocklin, who was on the back nine of a Hall of Fame career, while he was recovering. "He used to nickname me Red," Madden recounted. "'Hey Red, come on up here with me,' he urged. Because I'm the only one present, he's speaking loudly. It was the best schooling I've ever had, Norm Van Brocklin." Madden officially entered the coaching ranks two years after being picked by the Eagles. He spent four years as the defensive coordinator at Allan Hancock College in California before moving on to San Diego State. Al Davis hired Madden as the Raiders' defensive coordinator in 1967. At the conclusion of the season, Madden faced up against his coaching hero, Vince Lombardi, who was coaching his last game as head coach of the Green Bay Packers in Super Bowl II. Davis stunned many when he hired Madden, then 32, as his new head coach two years later. Davis hired Madden when Chuck Noll, who had just led the Colts to the Super Bowl as defensive coordinator, took the head coaching job in Pittsburgh. more about Madden : NFL rookies disappointed by ‘Madden 22’ ratings  Coaching buddy for life Happy 85th birthday, John Madden. Most people think of John as a coach and Madden game-maker but he was quite an athlete, too. He went to Oregon on scolarship in 1954 to play with childhood friend John Robinson. He won. pic.twitter.com/8WamWiNFW6 — Gil Brandt (@Gil_Brandt) April 10, 2021 Madden was born in Minnesota but spent much of his youth in Daly City, California. John Robinson, the former coach of USC and the Los Angeles Rams, was his greatest boyhood buddy. Both Madden and Robinson attended Oregon on football scholarships. While Robinson was a four-year starter for the Ducks, Madden went to Cal Poly and became an all-conference offensive lineman. He also caught for the school's baseball team. "We were going to play for the Yankees in the summer and the 49ers in the winter," Robinson remarked, recalling his and Madden's youthful ambitions. "We realised that maybe this fantastic career wasn't going to materialise." While neither Madden nor Robinson were big names as players, they were two of the finest coaches of their day. In 1976, Madden became the sixth coach in NFL history to win the Super Bowl. As a collegiate coach, Robinson has an 8-1 bowl record, including a 4-0 record in Rose Bowl games. In 1985 and 1989, he guided the Rams to NFC Championship Game appearances. Robinson's first Rose Bowl victory came only one week before Madden's first Super Bowl victory in the same venue. Madden took the Raiders to the playoffs eight times in his ten seasons as head coach. Under Madden, the Raiders competed in seven AFC championship games, including five consecutive from 1973 to 1977. And, after falling short in his first five AFC championship games, Madden and the Raiders ultimately won it all in 1976. Following a 13-1 regular season, the Raiders dethroned the Steelers, who had beaten Oakland in the previous two AFC championship games, to earn their first trip to the Super Bowl. The Raiders destroyed the Vikings in Super Bowl XI thanks to a brutal rushing offence and an equally destructive defence. Fred Biletnikoff, who set up three of the Raiders' four offensive touchdowns, was named MVP of the game. The Raiders triumphed 32-14, giving Madden and the Raiders their first championship. "They will never be able to take that away from you," Madden remarked of his Super Bowl victory. "Perhaps the fact that we pursued it for so long made it seem greater to us. It was the most wonderful sensation in the world. Nothing can compete with it." While the Super Bowl was the most famous game, Madden was a part of numerous other memorable games during his stint on the sidelines. The "Immaculate Reception," "The Sea of Hands," "Holly Roller," and "Ghost to the Post" are among these games. G.O.A.T. meets G.O.A.T. The famed pairing John Madden and Pat Summerall's farewell Super Bowl broadcast coincided with Tom Brady's first of seven Super Bowl victories. Brady led the Patriots to one of the biggest Super Bowl shocks in history, defeating the much fancied Rams in Super Bowl XXXVI, with Summerall and Madden providing the background. Madden and Summerall combined to work eight Super Bowls (five on CBS), the most ever for a broadcast team. While their streak concluded with the "G.O.A.T.," it started with Joe Montana's (Brady's boyhood hero) first Super Bowl victory: the 49ers' 26-21 victory against the Bengals in Super Bowl XVI. Madden remarked of his longtime broadcast colleague, "He was John Wayne and Walter Cronkite." "He had the ability to keep things on a level keel. Pat could sum it up in three words if I went off on a tangent. 'That's what I was trying to communicate,' I'd think." "There's only one John Madden." - Al Michaels From coaching to the announcing booth, John Madden was iconic 🎙🏈 #NFL100 📺: NFL 100 GREATEST CHARACTER on NFL Network pic.twitter.com/U0oRFZGJll — NFL Network (@nflnetwork) October 19, 2019 Madden worked three more Super Bowls with Al Michaels, including the Steelers' thrilling triumph over the Cardinals in Super Bowl XLIII, which was his last broadcast. Madden won 16 Emmy Awards for his colourful commentary, as well as the NSAA National Sportscaster of the Year award in 1994 and the Pete Rozelle Radio-Television Award in 2002. Madden's 'Cruiser' was inducted into the Hall of Fame. Due to his reluctance to flying, Madden spent the most of his broadcasting career taking the bus to NFL games. In 1987, a Greyhound bus was transformed into the "Madden Cruiser." The original "Madden Cruiser" was presented to the Hall of Fame in 2018, where it was restored to its original state. Two colour TVs, a telephone and intercommunications system, a citizens band radio, two laser disc players, a built-in vacuum cleaner, a sound system, and a VHS player are all included in the original "Madden Cruiser." A private bedroom with a queen-sized bed, a full bathroom, and a kitchenette with a microwave oven are all included aboard the bus.

In an interview for a TV documentary, Bill Belichick expresses admiration for John Madden.
John Madden was a familiar face in the NFL for a long time. He was, in many respects, the voice of football. He was a Sunday mainstay in American families for three decades, a figure with various sponsorships who donated his name and picture to the world's largest football computer game. Madden, on the other hand, has kept out of the limelight in recent years. The fact that he was included in a video that ran before to the Patriots-Falcons game on Thursday night was entertaining. The movie started with an old interview with Bill Belichick, who was sitting with Madden before Super Bowl XXXVI. In the years after the interview, Madden has pondered on it, remarking that he understood how sophisticated Belichick's football knowledge has become in the years since. "You know how you think you know something until you meet someone who really understands it, and then you realise you don't?" Madden explains. "Bill Belichick has a history with it. He was so far ahead of me, I mean. I discovered that I don't know nearly as much as I formerly believed." Belichick recalled a day when he was an assistant coach with the Broncos, who were playing Madden's Raiders, and reminisced on that day. "First and foremost, you don't mistake John for anybody else when you look at him," Belichick remarked. "From the front, the side, and the rear, you can see this person a mile away." He just had a one-of-a-kind profile. He also constantly wore his obnoxious sideline pass. The thing was continually blowing up, and it was all over the place." Madden laughed at the sideline pass statement. “John was on top of the game. Not really any weaknesses.” Legendary coaches John Madden and Bill Belichick talk about the mutual respect they have for each other in this exclusive preview moment from ‘ALL MADDEN’, the new original documentary premiering Christmas Day on FOX. pic.twitter.com/NvC0kLurLr — FOX Sports: NFL (@NFLonFOX) November 19, 2021 Belichick then read aloud a quotation from John Madden, who said that coaching helps players to go from "being excellent at recess" to "genius." The film was created as part of a Christmas marketing for an All Madden show. However, just seeing Belichick's gratitude and adoration for one of the NFL's greatest icons was worth it.

John Madden what net worth Boom! With a net worth of $200 million, John Madden is a renowned NFL player, sportscaster, and entrepreneur. Despite having a great career as a coach in the NFL, John Madden is arguably best remembered today for his exploits after his playing days were over. He rose to prominence as an NFL analyst and eventually sponsored one of the most popular video game series of all time, Madden NFL. John Madden is also a well-known writer who often appears in advertising for a variety of products. The "Madden" video game is responsible for the majority of Madden's current income. There's a lot more on this agreement at the bottom of the post... Early Years John Madden was born in Austin, Minnesota, on April 10th, 1936. His father relocated the family to California in order to explore employment prospects as an auto mechanic. John was still a child at the time, having spent the most of his childhood in a little village south of San Francisco. He went to Jefferson High School after enrolling in a Catholic school. John Madden swiftly rose through the ranks of the football squad throughout his high school years. John was a gifted and dynamic young athlete who excelled on both the offensive and defensive lines. He was also an accomplished baseball player. Football in College When John Madden graduated from high school in 1954, he immediately enrolled in the College of San Mateo to play football. He transferred to the University of Oregon to study pre-law and play football after one season. Madden's playing career was halted by the first of two significant injuries he suffered while at Oregon. He had to sit out much of the season due to a knee procedure. John Madden returned to San Mateo after recovering from his initial injury and played another season of football. He then transferred to California Polytechnic State University, where he was a member of the Mustangs' offence and defence. Madden established his value as a football player once again, this time establishing himself as a powerful offensive lineman and earning all-conference accolades. While getting his BS in Education, he also played catcher for the collegiate baseball team. He went on to receive his MA in Education in 1961. Football on a Professional Level Although John Madden did play professional football at one time, his career was effectively finished before it started. Madden was picked in the 21st round of the 1958 NFL draught by the Philadelphia Eagles, and it seemed for a while that he would be playing in the league. During his first training camp, however, calamity struck. He experienced a career-ending knee injury (not the one that had previously been hurt), and that was the end of it. Coaching as a profession John Madden acquired his teaching degrees in college while recuperating from a knee ailment. He was also meeting with Norm Van Brocklin, whose career was winding down at the moment. The former quarterback demonstrated Madden video games and explained what was going on in each play. Madden's teaching credentials began to blend with his football expertise as he learned more about teaching. A career as a coach was a foregone conclusion. Madden was working as an assistant coach at Allan Hancock College by 1960. He became the head coach two years later. He was subsequently employed as an assistant defensive coach at San Diego State until 1966, when the squad was regarded among the best in the country. During this time, he worked under Don Coryell, a skilled tactician who Madden subsequently credited with his success as an NFL coach. The Oakland Raiders signed John Madden as their linebacker coach in 1967. Madden learnt from Al Davis, who had learned from Sid Gillman before him. Madden was so inadvertently adopting strategies from a guy who transformed professional football. By 1969, Davis had departed the club, leaving Madden, who was just 32 years old at the time, to take over as coach. As a result, John Madden became the NFL's youngest head coach at the time. more from new 24 hour  A $92 million settlement has been suggested in the TikTok class action. The Rush Why is Kevin Durant’s achilles affecting Andrew Luck’s training camp?
As NFL training camps continue to open around the country, Nick Bosa and Quinnen Williams signed rookie deals with San Francisco and the Jets, respectively, the Colts are exercising caution with Andrew Luck because of Kevin Durant, and with the baseball trade deadline looming, Jared can't give you any answers... but he can tell you the right questions to ask.

On August 24th, 2019, Andrew Luck of the Indianapolis Colts shocked the world when he made his retirement from the National Football League known over a post-game news interview. My father and I watched the game, but didn’t watch the locker room film, expecting nothing other than the norm. Andrew was only 29 years old and was reaching the prime of his football career when he decided to hop off the horse. Football fans everywhere were shocked at the retirement of this young athletic star, who seemingly left with no hints of doing so. When the Indianapolis Colts then took the next step and made Jacoby Brissett the new starting quarter back a lot of people were confused and untrusting.
However now, a week later, Indianapolis fans are at a change of heart. Excited for opening day because of Brissett’s rhetorical presentation of talents and readiness for this next challenge. In an interview with Brissett and the Colts management, Colts coach said that Brissett has run more snaps this year in training camps than one would in a regular season, perfect practice makes perfect. Under a consistent and healthy direction from a new coach, Frank Reich, Brissett stated that he was more ready than ever to take this next step.  When asked if he was prepared to be a starter, Jacoby’s response “Since Day 1, I have always been preparing as a starter” Jacoby has been a back-up quarterback to both Tom Brady and Andrew Luck , in my opinion, two of the best quarterbacks to ever play the game, and he has been waiting his fair share amount of time to take what he’s learned and put them on the field.
Just like this starting NFL Quarterback, we all use Rhetoric even when we aren’t doing it with intention. Brissett has most likely been focused on bettering himself and his team and was not focused on convincing the Indianapolis fans that he was ready for the challenge ahead. But, what we don’t notice is that, we have been using Rhetoric since before we could talk, walk, throw a football... Brissett’s stats in the training camp earlier this summer was an appeal to Logos (Logic.) Along with his past as a back up quarterback in the league which would appeal to the Ethos (his credibility)of football fans. These things allow the Indianapolis fans to be easily swayed in knowing that he is not a rookie to the game of football or the way that this team works.
You could even say that the Indianapolis fans were experiencing the phenomena of “Columbusing” which is the of idea of "discovering" something and engaging with something that's existed forever in other cultures. Jacoby and this team have been working together for years and Jacoby and the game of football have been working together since he was a little boy. These fans are just now starting to dig a little bit deeper under the surface to understand that there is more to a person and idea than what is just to be seem or assumed. In conclusion, we see that rhetoric is used in our daily lives and has been forever, in what we wear, how he walk (body language,) the words we use and how we phrase them, and how we perform whether under pressure or a perfectly comfortable environment. Rhetoric is everywhere, and it is wise to try and spot when it is being used effectively, if even on purpose. Go Blue!!!

[ad_1] INDIANAPOLIS — The Colts have already lost one member of their draft class due to a season-ending injury.Rookie safety Daniel Scott, a fifth-round pick out of Cal, tore his ACL last week, a league source told IndyStar, and Indianapolis placed Scott on injured reserve after the team broke spring camp on Wednesday. The move ends Scott’s season.Sep 3, 2022; Berkeley, California, USA; California Golden Bears safety Daniel Scott (32) before the game against the UC Davis Aggies at FTX Field at California Memorial Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Darren Yamashita-USA TODAY SportsAnd it’s another blow to a secondary that is painfully thin beyond the starting lineup.Indianapolis has a pair of returning starters at safety in Julian Blackmon and Rodney Thomas II, and the Colts still have high hopes for 2022 third-rounder Nick Cross, but Scott’s athletic gifts made him a likely contributor on special teams and a potential depth piece at safety.Without Scott, the Colts have veteran safety Henry Black, international player Marcel Dabo, special teamer Trevor Denbow and undrafted free agent Aaron Maddox to compete for roster spots beyond the top three players. Indianapolis is also short on experience at cornerback, where veteran Kenny Moore II is surrounded by second-year player Dallis Flowers, three draft picks and several other unproven cornerbacks in the wake of the NFL’s gambling investigation into Isaiah Rodgers Sr.This article originally appeared on Indianapolis Star: Colts: Fifth-round pick Daniel Scott placed on IR with torn ACL [ad_2] Source link

Also read Drag Race Italia Season 2 Episode 2: Release Date, Preview & Streaming Guide. What Is The Premise Of Hard Knocks Season 19? Detroit's native club plays the game with genuine dedication despite never having advanced to the Super Bowl. Sadly for them, their perseverance hasn't yielded much over time; as of 2021, they have a record of 3 wins, 13 losses, and one draw. On the plus side, 11 of the past 13 teams that Hard Knocks has covered have benefited from the spotlight. The Cleveland Browns turned around their Team's format by utilizing their television platform, going from the major disappointment that was their winless 2017 season to a 7-win, 8-loss, and one-tie 2018 campaign. Los Angeles Rams and San Diego Chargers both mentioned their victories in the season after their appearances on "Hard Knocks," putting the Rams on track to win the Super Bowl in 2022. Detroit Lions Team Chief Executive Officer Rod Wood expressed his excitement about the chance he and his Team were given to "showcase the hometown of Detroit and the fantastic culture we are establishing at the Lions." This was in response to HBO's decision to feature their city in a future season. Additionally, Wood commended NFL Films and HBO Sports, calling them "the best of the best" and confident they are the ideal fit to tell the Team's narrative to the globe. Many new and seasoned players will be introduced to viewers in the forthcoming Hard Knocks installment. You'll come across youthful football players aiming to impact the game and veteran professionals hoping to retire with a Super Bowl ring. Campbell, the Team's head coach, will command attention in his second season in that position. The series would be narrated by five-time Golden Globe contender Liev Schreiber and feature some of football's biggest stars. Which Team Has Been Featured The Most On The Show? The Dallas Cowboys have the most "Hard Knocks" appearances. America's Team appeared on the show for the third time as the 2021 season drew near. Only the Cincinnati Bengals and Los Angeles Rams had multiple appearances on "Hard Knocks." In contrast, the Kansas City Chiefs, Baltimore Ravens, Miami Dolphins, New York Jets, Atlanta Falcons, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Cleveland Browns, Houston Texans, Los Angeles Chargers, Las Vegas Raiders, and Colts each had one. What Is The Hard Knocks Player Movement? The official start of the NFL's league and year trading period for 2022 was March 16. Teams were allowed to use 2022 alternative clauses on players to keep their exclusive negotiating rights over those whose contracts expire in 2021. The players who had them in their contracts make an offer sheet to awaiting local independent entities and submit a Minimum Salary Tender on March 14. Which clubs had to stay under the salary cap was determined by the "top 51" criterion, which states that the 51 highest-paid athletes on a team's payroll must have a combined salary cap. On March 16, clubs were permitted to contact players with contracts that had expired and were now absolute free agents to begin contract negotiations.
