Marui: Home (in Metkayina)
Kelku: Home (in Omatikaya)
Tsakarem: Tsahik in training
Olo’eyktan: Male Clan Leader
Tsahik: Head Shaman; High Priest; Interpreter of the will of Eywa
Word count: 2k
Being a human on Pandora meant it was hard for me to find a place to fit in, especially whilst I was in the Metkayina clan after everything that had happened to them, things seemed rather tense whenever I would come along, but nobody had said anything to me and I’d like to think it was because of Spider’s presence here. The reason I frequent the land of Awa’atlu was because Jake and Norm managed to strike a bargain of trade within the Omatikaya and Metkayina clans, mostly plants and fruits that didn’t grow in either climate were exchanged, but there was the occasional weapon placed for trade, and plenty of crafts like blankets, yarn, string, shells, beads; all you could imagine really.
I sat here in Jake and Neytiri’s marui - a funny word used here instead of kelku- creating a bracelet of my own for the boy who held my heart in his very large hands. I was currently sitting with my legs dangling from the opening as I paired another one of the beads I held that resembled my eye color, placing it next to the beads that resembled his eyes in their most constant shade: Green.
“What are you making?” Tuk is the first to ask as she places a sporadic array of beads on the craft she was currently working on. Although I hadn’t been too sure if she was making a necklace or a bracelet, I had honestly been too scared to ask as I didn’t want to come off as rude and hurt her feelings, I smiled gently to myself after her question and turned to look at her.
“I’m making a bracelet for your brother, the colors I chose are his eye color and mine, it’s a silly tradition some people used to do back on Earth from what Norm has told me.” I stated as I grabbed a white bead to separate the two colored beads that had currently been placed together, placing his green color on next.
“Our eyes change color though,” Tuk explains to me and her confusion is heard through her statement, Kiri quickly shushing the girl in an attempt to keep the peace, but I could have laughed at her comment with how adorable she was.
“They do,” I agree with her as I watch her place another sporadic assortment of colorful trinkets onto her craft, none of the beads had matched and neither did the decorations, but she seemed to enjoy what she was doing, and placing a lot of focus onto it.
“But they are almost always green, especially when you guys lived in the forest, the prettiest shade too.” I mumbled the last bit to myself as I continued the process, tying the beads in as the metkayina do with their jewelry to ensure they don’t snap off while underwater.
“I guess,” Tuk shrugs as she finished off her craft and begins tying it off.
I’d shifted my gaze over toward the waves of the island carefully lapping up in the sand, and right where I stared popped up a familiar head of someone holding a their hand up in victory. I smiles up knowing who it had been coming above the water but felt my heart stop the second his hands reached out for hers. The way they held each others arms as the two smiled had caused a tinge of a feeling I’d never felt before.
“Who is that with Lo’ak?” I asked toward Kiri, who was sitting beside me with her back toward the wall of the marui, as I sat with my legs dangling out of the entrance, she shifts herself to sit on her knees as she twists her body around, head now peaking out the entrance of the marui to get a good look at what I was currently seeing.
“Oh, thats Tsireya, the tsakarem she is also the Olo’eyktan and tsahik’s daughter,” Kiri explains as she settles back into her original position to continue working on the shall she had been making for herself.
Kiri had always been kind to me and has accepted me as a friend ever since we were young, Spider and I were twins and we were always tied to the hip, wherever he went I followed closely behind, so its no surprise we ended up befriending the Sully’s.
“What are they doing?” I attempted to make it sound as though I were interested in what they had been doing, but I was gathering intel, was I making a mistake by holding on to the promise he’d made me before he had met her?
“Tsireya trains a lot of the children to swim, since we are new to their way of living she had taken it upon herself to teach all of us.” Kiri explains to me as she ties off another row, grabbing a second colored yarn and tying it toward the one she held, transitioning her colors to make a multi-colored shall.
“But you’ve been here for a year, whats left for her to teach you guys?” I asked rather stiffly as I finished tying off the bracelet I had made, tying the beginning and end together.
“Can I see your wrist please?” I asked without waiting for an answer toward my first question and watch as she offers her wrist to me, I slid the bracelet on to check the size and was tempted to smile for a moment before the scowl in my face deepened.
The bracelet had been slightly big on Kiri, which meant it would fit nicely on Lo’ak, but at this point I wasn’t sure if I had wanted to give him the bracelet I’d made.At this point I had slid the bracelet off of Kiri’s wrist and held it before hearing a tiny chuckle coming from her, my eyes drift up towards hers and I frown while crossing my arms.
“Whats so funny?” I demanded like a child who was close to throwing a tantrum, knowing there probably was a good reason she had been laughing at me.
“You can’t be serious, Y/n.” She is quick to answer cryptically and I was tempted to roll my eyes.
“You don’t have to be jealous of her, she’s got a crush on Neteyam, Lo’ak and her are just good friends.”
I could feel the blush covering my face at the moment and was tempted to look away but refused since I didn’t want to admit I had felt jealous towards her.
I had seen Tsireya a couple of times before and even though she was a different species, she was still beyond beautiful, I could feel the jealousy rile up in me any time I’d see her and Lo’ak talking to one another, although it was usually short lived as he would usually spend a lot of his time with me while I was here.
________
I sat on the sands of the beach, watching as the waves came up toward the shore, only to change their minds and retreat back into the body of water. I let out a sigh as I tightly clutched the matching bracelets in my hands, having to fold Lo’ak’s into a circle twice to get it to hide in my palms, I’d grown too nervous to meet him and it was about time for myself and Norm to head back to the Omatikaya high camp.
Although a bargained deal had been made to trade, there was never a deal made for us to be allowed to stay, meaning we’d had to go back home by the end of the night and we wouldn’t be allowed to come back until the following week for more trades to be made.
Norm and I usually stayed a day or two in order to clear shop, but the days had ended up going by faster than I thought, and I haven’t even managed to sneak some alone time with Lo’ak. But I didn’t want to rip him away from the new friends he’s managed to make while being here and I was left with no cuddles.
“Kiri said you had something for me,” His voice breaks me out of my thoughts as he managed to sneak up on me and sit beside me.
I guess I should have been happy to have had him next to me, but a part of me still felt that green envy of him having been with Tsireya for a majority of the day, I wanted to push those thoughts to the back of my mind but I couldn’t no matter how hard I tried.
I could only clutch my palms tighter together to prevent any of the bracelet from sneaking out past my hands. I didn’t think now was a perfect time to showcase my craft but I found myself chewing on my bottom lip as all I could think was seeing him and Tsireya together.
“Do you like her?” I asked without being able to stop my tongue from speaking my mind. I could have slapped myself but felt my hands squeezing onto the bracelets as a way to brace for impact.
“Only as a friend, nothing more.” He responds evenly and I feel myself sighing with relief, until I felt a hand on my shoulder, causing me to gasp and look up at him.
“I made a promise to you before we left, didn’t I?” He asks and I could feel myself nodding along to his words.
“I intend to keep that promise.” He states while holding his hand out, I look at it before looking back at him, seeing him nod his head gently.
“It’s a bracelet,” I spoke before taking the double-looped bracelet in my palm and placing it in his, my nerves spiking after as I felt the craft I’d spent all day on was suddenly inadequate.
“It’s beautiful, it’s our eye colors isn’t it?” He asks as he marvels at my craft, quick to inspect it as his fingers run along the beads. I could only nod as I continued holding my own, it had taken me a few visits to finally learn how to tie beads like the Metkayina do.
“You tied them in like they do here,” He speaks as his eyes find mine and I nod once more.
“Kiri told me about your responsibilities as a diver and how you’re almost always in the water, I figured they’d last longer if I learned how to weave like the people do here, that way it will last longer.” I admitted to him and felt the need to look away shyly.
He is quick to take it out of his palm and place the craft around his wrist, fitting snugly against his skin, I could see the smile forming on his lips and it warmed my heart to see him wearing it.
“Where is it?” He asks suddenly and I find myself staring back at him, my head tilted to the side as I attempt to figure out what it is he’s asking me.
“Where’s what?” I asked before he eyes my hands again, taking them in his own as he carefully pries mine open to reveal the similar yet very small bracelet in my own hands, I smile as I see him take it out of my very hands and bringing my wrist closer toward his face. He carefully ties the bracelet on my wrist and smiles.
“There, now we match.” He smiles at me and I could feel myself blushing at his actions, my face feeling hot underneath the mask I was wearing.
“Remind me again,” I spoke suddenly as I held his giant hands in my tiny one, attempting to interlace my fingers with his to the best of my ability.
“Of what?” He asks with a smirk, already knowing what it was I had been asking, I giggle before responding.
“Your promise to me.” I stated
“I promise to wait for you, no matter what oceans and lands tear us apart, you’re mine as much as I am yours.”

Hehe Neteyam
Pink, Romance
Colors of Pandora: Day 6
Paring: Neteyam x Fem!Omatikaya!Reader
Warnings: fluff, some kissing, neteyam being protective, reader is kind of a bimbo but pretty, make out session, suggestive at the end, slightly corruption kink
Word Count: 1.1k
Disclaimer: Characters are aged up! (Neteyam is 24)
Tumblr media
Neteyam walked silently through the forest, bow drawn as he aims his arrow towards his prey. "Hi nete" you pop out of nowhere, he jumps scaring away his prey. You giggle at his reaction,"I didn't mean to scare you" Your hands are together behind your back and you lean forward slightly while talking to him.
Neteyam smiles, "hey, no its alrgiht tanhi, what are you doing here?" he ruffles your hair messing it up. You hands fly up protesting as you push them away and fix it neatly. "Was just walking to the hot springs, wanna come?" you ask him shyly. "I'm supposed to be hunting..." he says softly
You pout at his answer dropping your head, "Alright, I'll see you later then?" You have always had a major crush on him, as long as you can remember Neteyam has been the man that has your heart. He was four years older than you but he's always been bigger and stronger, he made you feel so safe.
"Are you going alone?" he said not answering your question, you ignored it though nodding your head. "Well I can't let you go alone now can I" he smiles at you sweetly. Sometimes you like to pretend he likes you back, just because its fun to imagine what it would be like if he was your mate. The though makes you blush as you walk next to him towards the springs.
When you get there you immediately start talking off your clothes to get in, "Woah! wait you can't just do that" Neteyam spins on his heel, his back now facing you. The sudden tone startles you and you raise your head, fingers holding the strings on your loincloth. "Do what?" you ask dumbly.
"You can't just take your clothes off in front of a man like that y/n..." lets be frank, Neteyam knows you're a little dumber than the average na'vi woman, he doesn't want people to take advantage of you which is more or less why he's so protective. The other reasons all sum up to he wants you, why should someone else get to have such a pretty girl, you listen is well when he tells you to do something.
"Oh sorry..I guess I wasn't thinking" what's new? "it is alright jus-" he gets cut off my the sound of water splashing. He turns around and see you already naked and sitting in the water. You are kind of small so the water covers your chest reaching your collarbone. "Are you getting in?" You ask him sweetly, as if the sound of your voice can drop honey. Neteyam lags a bit before agreeing to join you, but he didn't undress. "Why don't you take it off?" you look at him confused.
"I am" he pulls his loincloth out from under the water and tossed it on a nearby rock. "Wow you untied it without looking" you say as you move closer to him making him laugh. You were sitting right next to him now but not touching, you watch him sigh and melt into the steamy water, "Tey, you are tense" you say as you rest a hand on his shoulder squeezing slightly.
"Yea training had been hard these pass couple weeks." he closes his eyes and tilts his head back to rest of a rock. You contiune to massage the back of his neck with one hand not realizing your nipple was not grazing his arm. Neteyam feels it though, he feels your harden bud rubbing against his muscular bicep. He turns his head to peer down at you, looking at your gorgeous doe eyes that look up at him with so much love and care.
Neteyam knows well you have a crush on him, you do a very shit job at hiding it, your always bringing him food, braiding his hair when he has no one else to do it and just generally always sitting around him, not that he minds. He thinks its quite sweet. "You know baby, I saw you talking to Azal yesterday after warrior training, what were you talking about?" his voice was deep, gave your butterflies.
"Oh, nothing really. I came to look for you yesterday remember I made cake and wanted you to try it, he asked me out on a date, he wants to court me, he said he wants to mate me and give me a baby" you sigh as you play with strands of his braids that fall over his ears, "but I'm confused, how can he give me a baby by connecting out queues" I giggle at his stupid thought.
Your so innocent, Neteyam could take you right now with the way he feels, give you his baby. He knows you'll take it, you want nothing better. "Well you don't have to worry about that right now, but what did you tell him"
You giggle and look back up into his golden eyes, "I told him no silly, I turned down his courtship, I don't want him. I want you" you smile as you twirl his hair in your fingers. It appears you didn't understand the wait of what you just said but you continue to talk anyways, "I want you to court me and I want you to give me babies, I'm not sure how your gonna do that but I want yours because I love you nete, your the only one" you ramble on about how much you want to be with him
"And I also don't like it when other girls talk to you, don't like seeing them touch your hair like you let me touch your hair, I mean why do you even let them-" you get cut off my a pair of soft, warm lips meeting yours.
He's kissing you. HE'S KISSING YOU!
You body melts into his as he pulls you effortlessly into his lap not breaking the kiss once. His metkayine training shows well when you pull away breathlessly for air and he is unfazed waiting for you to come back into him. "I love you too babygirl, and I'll give you all the babies you want yea? You'll be my perfect little house wife won't you?"
Your skin feels hot as you feel his hands rubbing up and down your back, all the way down to your tail while he speaks to you. You can't process anything but you go in for another heated kiss anyways, "I'll do whatever you want me to nete" you whisper into his lips.
You feel like your on cloud 9 everything you could ever dream about is right here in front of you and you couldn't be happier.

Ikran: Warriors Mount
Olo’eyktan: Male Clan Leader
Kelku: Home
Word count: 1.4k
“Why do you feel the need to take care of others?” His voice was a soft timber breaking through the silence of the early morning.
I’d managed to wake up and just as he promised the night before we had to talk, but we’d decided on taking our ikran out toward the forest to speak privately, climbing the tree we were currently on being careful with my arm to ensure I didn’t damage it any further. The view we were seeing involved a lot of the forest, but it was too vast for us to be able to see a majority of it, but the bits we could see were beautiful.
The sun was rising from between the mountains and sky, the orange, red, and pink hues capturing its essence in a wonderful way. My heart beating slightly faster after having processed his question as I realized I’d have to finally open up about my past to the leader of our clan.
“It helps me forget about the war,” I answered honestly, attempting to take in a breath to explain further if needed, knowing I would have to as my answer was somewhat vague.
“Who did you lose?” It was a simple question really, but it was one that brought slight pain, the pain of having to remember the reason I often buried myself in my work.
“Both my parents.” I answered as I lowered my head to view my fingers starting to pick at one another, something I often did when I was growing nervous.
“I’m sorry for the pain I have caused you.” He apologizes but it doesn’t change the past. We knew what he had done after he had explained once he came back from mating with Neytiri, a lot of us were upset with him, but I always kind of knew he was stuck between a rock and a hard place. Having to follow orders just to keep his place here, it wasn’t hard to read him, and I could tell he was honest with his apology, but our people were quick to anger and it didn’t matter to them how sorry he was. And now he was our leader, how strange, the great mother must have plans for him if he was still alive, and holding a place of importance within us.
“I have forgiven you a long time ago.” I answered honestly, letting my shoulders fall as I pick my head back up to stare at the beautiful view before me, the sun still rising slowly above the sky.
“I guess your compassion runs deep,” He jokes with a smile and his comment makes me smile as well.
_________
That had been weeks ago, my arm had healed and had been allowed out of the cast, which I had been thankful for. My friendship with my Olo’eyktan had grown into something wonderful and I could finally say I had made my first friend.
“I have a question for you,” He walks up towards me right as I began to walk the opposite direction.
“You always have questions for me, Jake.” I stated as I continued walking, he’d asked me to instruct him as such and I was always one to follow orders, he followed behind me as I continued walking to grab my bow and arrow, ready to head out to hunt for Sepwa and Antuk once more. Sepwa had fallen ill and needed help with taking care of her children while Antuk had gotten injured while hunting and managed to injure his leg.
“I want to show you something.” He stated as his hand reaches out toward my arm, stopping me in my tracks as I felt the warmth leaving his palm and encasing my entire body, I fight a blush as I turn to face him with a serious look.
“That is not a question.” I stated and he rolls his eyes playfully, a smile tugging at his lips as he fights a laugh before straightening himself up, taking his hand off my arm, and I honestly missed the contact.
“Will you come with me?” He asks.
“I need to hunt for Sepwa and Antuk-“ I began to shoot his invitation down, knowing I didn’t want to, but knowing I had a sense of responsibility for my people.
“I’ve taken care of them already, I knew you were going out of your way again, so I was one step ahead of you the entire time,” He crosses his arms in a cocky manner, but all I could focus on were his bulging biceps, I only look up at his face with a blank expression to attempt to hide my own feelings as my heart rate quickens.
“And you have taken care of who will watch their children this morning before they go learn?” I raised a brow while crossing my own arms.
“Of course I did. Do you honestly think so little of me?” He asks with a palm on his chest while feigning hurt.
“Yes I do,” I teases with a smile on my lips before breaking out into a small laugh with his chuckle following soon after.
“Where are you taking me?” I asked after our laughter was out of the way, wondering where he planned to take me now, he had taken the last couple of weeks to show me the forest through his eyes, often choosing good places to calm down after a long and hard day of work, but surely he had to run out of places by now, the forest was only so big.
“Just wait and see,” He offers his hand out to me with a slight nod of his head and I take it without hesitation.
_________
I had been nervous to say the least, I hadn’t expected to have grown feelings for someone so quickly after meeting them, but there was something about her that made my heart flutter alive after a while of it being in a dormant state. I couldn’t quite pinpoint what it was about her, but she made me feel alive again, made me feel as though I could start living once more.
“What is this place?” She asks in awe as she hops off of my Ikran, taking a careful glance around the cave that glowed with bioluminescent plants, the opening of the cave having a waterfall covering half of it, keeping this place well hidden from anyone.
“This is the place I come to when I have a tough decision to make.” I answered honestly only to have her turn with a confused look on her face.
“And what tough decision has this Olo’eyktan had to make recently?” She raises a hairless brow and I had to admit my heart was beating faster than it ever has within the last couple of years.
“You,” I stated honestly before clearing my throat and looking away quickly before looking back at her.
“What do you mean, me?” She asks as she tilts her head sideways and her ears flick over to place her full attention on me.
“I have grown to have feelings for you, and I wish to court you, but I only want to do that if you return my feelings. I don’t want you to agree to doing it if you don’t see a future with me.” I stated sternly, expecting her to have weighed her options before answering, I was about to tell her she could have some time to think about it before she gleefully runs up to me and embraces me in a hug, a squeal leaving her lips as she jumps up and down excitedly.
“Yes, the answer is yes, I don’t need time to think, I feel the same.” She answered quickly and I could feel my heart ready to burst at her reaction.
“Honest?” I asked as if I were about to wake up in my kelku to realize that it had only been a dream.
“I promise,” She smiles as her tail wriggles from side to side in an excited fashion.
“Good, because I’ve been waiting long enough to do this,”
I place my hand onto the side of her face to hold it gently, her eyes widening slightly as she stares at me, ears having gone down to show submission and I smile before leaning my face down to meet our lips in the middle, having closed my eyes to enjoy our kiss, and feeling her arms wrap around my neck loosely as she kisses me back.

It was easier for me to live my life in the way I had started to live it after the war that happened at our home tree, it was easier for me to continue on this way without the constant reminder of the burden I carried after seeing my parents die trying to protect me, in fact it was the only way I knew how to live. I considered myself to be a different kind of caregiver amongst the clan and didn’t think of it any other way, I would take care of others in a way the tsahik didn’t have time to, and I would constantly check in with her to ensure she had enough herbs, plants, tree roots, and any other material she might need whenever we were experiencing a higher sick to healthy ratio.
If a mother had given birth the tsahik would frequently check on her to ensure she was healthy, the village would come together during the first week and ensure the family had some fruits to eat during the morning, and some of the food we would eat from our cook fires at night without the thought of them needing to pay us back in any way. If someone had come back injured after a hunting trip, the tsahik would tend to the warriors wounds while the village would come together and take care of their children, if they had any, to allow adequate time for them to rest.
When someone had given birth, I took it upon myself to given them the various options of string in order to help them choose one for their child's new song cord, I added a lot of beautiful shells and beads I would have found resembled the family in a way to ensure they could add newer beads to their own song cord to commemorate their addition, I would also include a blanket they could wrap their child in or a sling for them to carry their child against their chest when they decided to go back to work. Had a hunter been injured during an accident I made sure they had meat to cook if they were able to walk to the cook fires, if not I made sure to skin and slice the meat up for them to be able to cook them in their own kelku’s without causing them more pain during the preparation process.
It was easier for me to be able to take care of others in a way that nobody could take care of me, something I had come to recognize a while after being alone for some time, I didn’t mind it though, it was refreshing having the freedom to hunt at odd hours into the night, its when the animals least expected one of us to be out.
I was coming upon a yerik now, I had one more family I wanted to provide for as they had just given birth to their youngest child, I was sure they would need most of the yerik to feed their entire family, they had just had their fifth child and I’m sure it was tough to feed a family that big, but it was always seen as the biggest blessing whenever Eywa would allow one of our own to fall pregnant.
I hopped onto the next tree branch as the yerik moves to graze on some of the grass below it, taking a cautious step forward as I stabilize myself on the branch, leaning my body down on it so I was resting my stomach on it, gently grasping my bow and an arrow, placing it on the string of my bow as I carefully pull back. The yerik seemed to have been alerted by its pack as it raises its head, I freeze, he keeps his head up higher as if it was on alert before snorting from its snout and pushing his face back into the grass, I smile at the small victory and release my arrow and watch as it pierces its skin and straight into its pelt.
I smile to myself as I stand on the branch, ready to descend and say my final death prayer to the animal that had fallen over to the ground, kicking its several legs for a quick second, it bray’s in agony and defeat, but that was all I was able to hear before my own foot slipped on the wet branches below me. It must have rained before I decided to wake up and come hunt, and the funny thing is, nobody else was ever awake during the times I was so it would take a while for anyone to find me, I think this must have been karma for something I failed at in my younger years, but I didn’t have time to contemplate that as the world around me grew dark.
_________
The unfortunate thing of being mated for life was never knowing how long the two of you would have been together, for Jake and Neytiri it was from the moment they mated up until her death alongside the war of home tree, it wasn’t long but for him the moments leading up to it were worth it. He often found himself wandering off in the middle of the night, taking walks to calm his mind in order to get himself tired enough to go to sleep again, but for some reason it wasn’t working. He had a feeling that had somehow been tugging at his heart to continue searching for something, whatever it was he hadn’t known, until he stumbled upon one of the Na’Vi woman down on her back, her bow and arrows scattered beside her, a yerik heaving heavily, and the woman’s arm bend in a funny way.
He quickly pieced the puzzle together and landed next to the yerik first, knowing this was something the Na’vi would have wanted, before stating the death prayer aloud, allowing the hunt to not go to waste.
“Oel ngati kameie, ma tsmukan, ulte ngaru seiyi irayo. Ngari hu Eywa salew tirea, tokx ‘ì’awn slu Na’viyä hapxì.” He speaks fluently without pausing to think of his next words, grasping his hunting knife and digging it straight into the yerik’s heart and hearing it exhale one last time.
As soon as he’s done with the yerik he quickly moves over to the woman whose name vaguely came across to him as Y/n, attempting to wake her but not being successful, he sighs deeply before running back over toward one of the tree’s with low hanging branches, hacking his hunting knife at the somewhat thick branch several times and breaking it off the tree, snapping it in half and using it to stabilize her arm, ripping off some of the cloth from his tewng and tying it around her arm, grasping her over his shoulders and leaning down to grab one of the yerik’s many feet and making his way back to camp.
_________
I stirred out of my sleep but felt as though a million things were weighing me down, I slowly opened my eyes and quickly shut them as the light from the fire close to me had been to bright for my eyes to bear, my hand quickly coming up to attempt to put a buffer between myself and the brightness.
“It is good to see you are awake,” A familiar voice addresses me as I open my eyes once more, arm still in front of me and a searing pain shoots up my other arm, I look down and see my arm stabilized by some branches and placed in a cast by Mo’at’s handy work.
“I- what happened?” I asked as I attempted to go through my own memories and suddenly remembering everything that happened, wondering how it was that I managed to get here but still confused with that aspect.
“The Olo’eyktan was wandering around and stumbled upon you on the floor, your arm bent at an unnatural angle, and a yerik barely breathing by your side.” She speaks in an even tone, she stands from where she’s at and kneels down to take a look at my arm once more.
“This will hurt for a bit, I have made a tea for you to drink if the pain is too great, but use it sparingly as it can cause you to fall asleep easily. Feel free to stay here until morning as it is awfully late.” She encourages as she sits beside me.
“I would if I could but I have to skin and slice that yerik for the-“
“I already took care of that for you,” In stepped the Olo’eyktan with his arms crossed and a stern look on his face that would make a child start crying, I could only guess as to what he was thinking as he stepped in front of me, out of respect I sat up quickly but felt a pang on my head.
“Take it easy,” He stated quickly as he squats down in front of me.
“What were you doing out there by yourself, you could have gotten hurt worse than you did, or died if I hadn’t stumbled upon you.” His voice is rough like that of a friend who was worried, but I couldn’t wrap my head around it as I thought nobody else cared for me, I figured I blended in with the background enough, but was obviously proven wrong at this moment.
“I was getting the yerik for Sepwa and Antuk, they need the meat to feed their entire family and time away from the people to bond with their new baby. I was up because I fell asleep earlier in the day after finishing my chores, I should skin it and-“
“I said I took care of it,” He speaks sternly once more and it makes me calm down, allowing my body a second to relax after hearing he’d taken care of it, feeling my body’s energy drained as I suddenly felt tired.
“Let me leave you two alone to talk, if you need the tea I have left it on the table, I will take my leave now.” Mo’at spoke gently as she rose to her feet, elegantly taking her strides out of the healing hut.
“I’m sorry, I wasn’t doing it on purpose, I just wanted to help.” I’d stated once Mo’at had disappeared.
“And I get that, but you need to learn that being compassionate has its limits too, when were you going to take a break for yourself?” He asks and its as if that thought had never hit me before.
“I- I don’t know.” I answered honestly as I looked around the healing hut before looking back into his eyes, feeling myself slowly growing tired.
“Get some rest, we’ll talk tomorrow.” He orders right as he turns around to walk away, but for the first time in my life, I decide to listen to someone else and decide to take care of myself by allowing myself to fall asleep at this moment. My head falls gently onto the pillow on the mat before me and I can welcome the darkness in as I finally allow myself to drift off into the world of dreams.
