Colonizing Space To Save Humanity One Helium3 At A Time...
Propped by diverse obligations and opportunities, moods are changing. Colonization is becoming again civilization’s best friend. Space colonization, as usual. Once the immense space of the savannah was conquered. Now everybody is going to space. Korea just announced the creation of KASA, the NASA equivalent. Korea is already highly competent in space, but now wants to colonize Mars. No…

Why are people wasting the anger on colonialism parallels in Pokemon of all things when World of Warcraft and countless other Medieval Europe fantasy settings have played that completely straight for decades?
Gonna need a more specific case?
But generally speaking:
World of Warcraft has ABSOLUTEY gotten flack for racism and Colonialism and Medieval European fantasy has gotten that critique for ever?
People have the ability to be upset about multiple things at once
Pokemon is VERY widespread and geared towards kids so even though yes they’ve only recently been able to get to themes and characters more complex than “friendship good and crime bad” supplementing that with “hey this covers real shit that’s fucked up and got a lot of people killed and still affects people today” at the very least means people have a point of reference for informing people
On the flip side if you want to get angry, GameFreak has more money than god they can stand to not reproduce incorrect narratives that downplay atrocities that happened. like yeah it’s kind of unrealistic to expect a whole history lesson but I don’t need a Pokémon game to teach history they can at least take steps to work with people from that culture and not reinforce stereotypes?
Of course this is just my opinion other people can and do have different takes on the situation, especially because Japanese imperialism isn’t something I’m really familiar with or connected to via personal life so I can’t really speak to how it’s represented, I’m just going off what I’ve seeen in similar discussions

#finishedbooks Natives by Akala. Got this one from @benbeech back in 2019 when I was here on a tourist visa trying to get a proper one. Haha I told him who knows when I will get to it as I already had a long to-read stack something I have never really had before. And sure enough I didn't get to the book until just now ...and happy it wasn't lost like a lot of my other stuff. And what a solid book...and fun fact the writer grew up and went to the same school as @brassfoot and @slim...the edition I got is signed as well. It is a series of correlated essays on his childhood that he expands on to larger Black British issues and eventually Pan African issues...which is a very appealing structure...my collages tend to be about this for me in a synthesis of trying to process and express the things that were done to me due to my skin color, where I come from, and who my parents and their parents were as a apart of a greater systemic whole. The appeal of which is the authenticity in experience but also not seeing it as something exclusive but statistically apparent to black life in general. The process of it in writing it out as with me for collages is unlearning the self I developed in my formative years that stem overwhelming from the negative experiences that have happened to me. So this process of reflecting and relating to something beyond the subjective...is special. With that, its perspective, especially for an African American, to see the informed British perspective was unique if not humbling and the arguments were geared toward ya their are complex differences but the western perspective is the same and that reemphasizes my pandemic readings of post colnial writers from CLR James, Fanon, Biko, Achebe, etc.

Nipa hut or (bahay kubo) is one of the most known icon in the country of Philippines. The name Nipa hut is based on the Spanish phrase Cubo, which means cube, because it has rectangular appearance then Bahay is the Filipino term for house. According to the tradition this type of house is made of organic materials. Houses in the Philippines evolve through time from (bahay kubo) to condominiums. The houses we live in does not only reflect the times but also all the other factors that shape its very form and function like geography, climate, history, culture, economics, housing trends, design, and technology. Nipa hut or (bahay kubo) started on pre-colonial and colnial period. Elevated like stilt houses which can be carried from one town to another. It is still used in rural areas today. The significance of (Bahay Kubo) is to give safety in the rainy season and provide safety during summer. The awning type windows on all sides, keeps the interior well-ventilated, and it can be sealed off from the elements by the help of the sliding panels. Its steep slope high-pitched roof shed rain and provides room for warm air to escape then, cool air  will flow through the absorptive bamboo walls and floor. The housetop is high obliqued and open gabled allowing purification; it is fitted with wide overhang eaves, providing shade from the hot sun and keeping the rain out. Some huts have an open back porch or batalan. It is used as a storage for water jars, a cellar orsilong is mostly used for household chores and a silid or alcove for stashing the mats and pillows after use. The space underneath the house enables the air to enter and circulate freely and to store food, or sometimes as a shelter for small animals like goats and poultry.
