A Magical Night: Coldplay Music of Sphere World Tour Manila
by: wonderjeju
Photo grabbed from Coldplay official twitter account.
It was indeed a magical night during the two day concert of Coldplay which is held in Philippine arena in Bocaue, Bulacan attended by thousand attendees. It just like a dream come true for me attending the concert of Coldplay, I was fan since high school their song Viva La Vida is the first song that I listen to it. I could not believe that I am actually at the arena that time I feel like it was just a dream.

The crowd goes while when the moment the band already get up on stage and started preforming their latest and hit song Higher Power. And I was teary-eyed the moment they played Paraside.
Its intro blew me away that I could not contain my feeling when I heard it live. My heart is overflowing that moment hearing all my favorite song live and hearing my favorite band live was a surreal feeling.
Wristband lights up in different color during Coldplay performance.
The whole arena turn into different color of lights as our wristband lights up and we wave our hands freely. We sang out loud together with Coldplay.
Coldplay bring us to different dimension during the whole concert. I did not feel I was at the arena, I feel like they bringing us into different dimension every set of the song they are singing. It feels that you did not want to end that moment.

Yellow sea ( Yellow lights up during the performance of Coldplay to their hit song Yellow)
Green light during Clocks performance.
That was the best concert ever! The hungover I get from their concert that I can even move on even after a day. The experience and the feeling is unexplainable. It just an overflowing happiness that Coldplay brought to all of us who watch the concert. Their performance is amazing, the best all of the best words describe their concert.

Their music is a medicine to all of us. Their music save us from sadness and depression. Their music inspires us to dream big. Their music is part of our growing up from being a teenager to professional adulthood. Coldplay is an inspiration to all of us who sometimes struggle. So that's why their song Paradise hits different when I heard it live. It feels like this song is cheering me and fueling me to dream more. If there is a concert that I would repeatedly watch definitely its a Coldplay concert.

A Head Full of Dreams Tour in Manila 2017
My love for Coldplay may not be as strong as the others, but I am certain when I say that I have never felt so much love for a band when I started listening to them. It was during my elementary days when I discovered Coldplay. I don’t remember the specific song that made me fall in love with them but I do know that it wasn’t as deep as it is today. High school came and this is where I dived into their world and listened to all their albums. They were—are my companion. The significant moments in my life, you bet Coldplay was there! I was either listening to their songs out of sheer joy or some sort of friend to cry on. I found a weird kind of comfort and bond with them. Coldplay is my home.
I made a little pact with myself: if Coldplay ever went to my home country, I’ll watch them live.
Years ago, rumors of Coldplay going to Manila spread out like wildfire. But last year, the whole country was shooktd with rumors of Coldplay going to Manila to hold a concert, but the thing is, people were convinced! Of course, the fangirl in me went wild and I started saving money despite the struggles of spending a lot on food and stationeries (and other things I don’t need but I want to buy, hehe).
November 2016, it was formally announced that Coldplay will have a concert in the Philippines. I immediately planned how I’m going to save enough money just in time for the payment without being sure of reserving tickets for the pre-sale. When Globe opened the pre-selling of tickets for their subscribers, I tried my luck and after feeling so anxious about it, two tickets got reserved under my name! Despite getting the Bronze section, I’m still positive that it will truly be a one in a lifetime experience—or in this case, an adventure of a lifetime. *wink wink* I paid for the tickets after a few days (I reserved one for me, and one for my pet dog). That’s when the excitement started to kick in but it eventually died a few days after because of academic stress.
April 2017, that’s when everything just started sinking in!!! A part of me was still pessimistic of how I won’t be able to see them due to random reasons that may come flashing my way. But thank heavens it just happened!
On the day of the concert, I took an Uber to SM Mall of Asia around 2:30 in the afternoon. We went to the venue and found a bunch of lines that we couldn’t understand until the staff took some signs of the different tickets and let us form a line. I don’t know what happened to the other lines but we got in around 6? I think. Jess Kent started the show with her drummer around 8 in the evening and they are so adorable!
Around 9 PM or 9:15, we all cheered when our Xylobands lit up!!! It was so amazing! When Coldplay went out and played A Head Full of Dreams and then there were fireworks!!! I screamed so loud and I started crying!!! But from that point on, I just had fun and felt every song! I tried my best to feel the moment and go with the flow but I felt the need to document some parts of the concert because this may not happen again in a couple of years or even not at all (I hope not). Words cannot express how I truly feel about the concert. All I know is that Coldplay will always have my heart. Always.
Despite my distance from the stage and only being able to see their bumbunans, it was such an adventure. I told my friends how it would have been better if we stayed some place near the venue but all I am after for is the experience. No regrets!!! Being part of a crowd who shares the love for Coldplay as I do is just as priceless as being in the VIP section (sus, of course it’s different, but it’s still a wonderful experience). It’s so surreal. I am out of words.
Chris Martin mentioned that they will come back here. I will hold onto that and I will save for the VIP section (as long as the price is reasonable, -ish). Haha!
Thank you so much, Coldplay. Thank you.

Best Birthday Ever! #COLDPLAY
April 1 - I had mini reunion and short drinking session with my friends the night before my birthday. As I was enjoying myself with my drink, I saw my best friend, Pau, with a cake and a lit candle, laughing herself out while singing a happy birthday song. Does anyone actually know what you have to do when people are singing happy birthday to you? Well, I didn’t know what to do so I just cried out of joy. I was surprised obviously and how sweet of them to do such thing for me! We welcomed my birthday together and it was a great night! --- and nope I will not post my ugly pictures and video here from the surprise because I literally ugly cried lol
April 2 - Happy 22nd birthday to me! I wanted a simple celebration for my birthday this year since I am not financially prepared (lol) so my parents and I just bought foods for my Lola and Lolo’s house and ate lunch together. I chose to celebrate my birthday there since Lolo Maxi can’t go out anymore bcos of his condition. I’m very happy to witness my lola and lolo were smiling the entire time!
HERE’S THE BEST PART
April 4 - COLDPLAY - A HEAD FULL OF DREAMS TOUR
I have so much emotion on this day. I’ve waited for this moment for years! My dad introduced me to Coldplay when I was still young and we both love them so I promised to myself to buy tickets for him so he could experience watching his favorite band live. The day has come and it was another dream came true!
I went to the concert with my girlfriends, Viel and Janine. They went to the concert grounds 8 hours before the show to fall in line and I was still in Cavite that time. I arrived late at the venue but good thing was they were in front of the line so we had a good spot in the venue as we entered. But when people wanted to see better view of the stage, everyone wanted to go to the center of the Silver section (where we were standing). Imagine a too crowded concert and you can’t even get your phone in your bag since you cant literally move. I wasn’t also feeling well for standing too long on the crowd so I sacrificed my spot to sit on the back. I thought I could still see the stage from the back but I was wrong. So I told my friends thru text message (struggle with signal due to signal block bcos of the event) that it was a bad idea so they should just stay in front of the Silver section.
I went to the nearest exit gate and I sat there feeling sorry for myself. I told myself it’s still fine since I will still hear the Coldplay live and I can watch on LED screen. It was after Jess Kent (front act of Coldplay) when I realized two Americans(?) were silently giving VIP tickets at my back!!! I thought Chris Martin was at my back so I took out my phone for a selfie but it was FREE VIP TICKETS! I tried to sneak to get more VIP tickets for my dad and for my girl friends but they knew I already have one. I was shaking and my knees felt weak but I ran towards the VIP section. I think the reason why they gave away free VIP tickets because only few bought the most expensive tickets. Like hell, I can’t even afford one. I got myself free beer and I enjoyed the rest of the show all by myself.
I sang, danced and cried all alone. I didn’t plan to watch it alone but this just happened. I didn’t have much photos of the concert because I refrained from using my phone to enjoy the show but I still got a few videos. I actually recorded the whole song when they played The Scientist. The fireworks display was amazing too! It was just perfect! Coldplay is the best! Chris Martin is the best! I’m still amazed on how magical my night went. From giving up my Silver section spot to moving on to the VIP section for the best view. Once in a lifetime experience. We’ve all waited for this for 17 years and it was all worth it!
Songs they played from their 2-hour show:
1. A Head Full of Dreams
2. Yellow
3. Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall
4. The Scientist (the favorite one, my dream is to hear this live, yup crying baby started crying)
5. Birds
6. Paradise
7. Always in My Head
8. Magic
9. Everglow
10. Midnight
11. Charlie Brown
12. Hymn for the Weekend
13. Fix You (I don’t know why I also cried to this song but so much feelings!)
14. Heroes
15. Viva la Vida
16. Adventure of a Lifetime
17. Kaleidoscope
18. In My Place
19. Don't Panic
20. Ink
21. Manila Song (Chris Martin just made this up but it was still awesome)
22. Something Just Like This
23. A Sky Full of Stars
24. Up&Up
My Coldplay experience will be my favorite story to tell. Thank you again and again for your inspiration and for your beautiful music, Coldplay!

Meet Jess Kent
So who was the uber cool girl who opened the show for Coldplay at the Manila leg of A Head Full of Dreams Tour? Well, that was Australian singer Jess Kent.
Jess Kent is an Australian-based indie hip-hop artist who was born in the United Kingdom. Recently, she released her first EP “My Name Is Jess Kent” and went off to wow the whole scene. As part of the #AHFOD tour, she and her band have already performed in packed stadiums across Australia, New Zealand, and Asia.
To promote the Manila leg of A Head Full of Dreams Tour, Jess Kent visited the Monster booth to chat with us about touring with Coldplay, creating her music, and more.
The Get Down singer shared that she felt very thankful about touring with a band as big as Coldplay. She also dished out about what inspires her to write. According to her, the EP she released is like a diary of what her life is all about.
Just like her songs, Jess Kent herself is very fun and infectious. When she arrived at the Monster booth, she coolly walked in and said hi to everyone like she’d already known us for a long time.
Check out her songs by tuning into the Monster RX 93.1!
