Clone Wars Headcanon: I can do it with a broken heart
Literally obsessed with TS’ song “I can do it with a broken heart” and just…
Imagine that as Cody when Kenobi went on that Hardeen mission
He wasn’t privy to know Obi-wan was undercover and while he has his suspicions, it’s wiped clean by how Anakin acts
Fox sees this and how the 212th are on leave but worries for his brother so he invites Cody on one of his missions
Cody goes with Fox and they go infiltrate a Seppie base for information
Cody seems fine; and to any other Vod, he would be but Fox knows his Ori’vod and so he waits
And waits till Cody cracks
And Cody’s sad but that comes out in anger because if he was there with Kenobi, he would make sure his Jedi never got shot
And he’s confused because Kenobi’s reckless but not stupid. How could he have gotten killed?
And he’s pissed because he’s dead and Cody can’t seem to let go of this feeling that Obi-wan can’t be gone. He can’t
And it’s a mixture of emotions that fight for their way to the front and Fox just sits and listens
“I’m sorry,” Fox tells his brother and Cody just humorlessly laughs.
“For what?”
Fox shrugs. “For not being able to grieve in private.”
Cody hates how true his brother is cuz they’re both Head Commanders. They can’t grieve publicly even if they wanted to.
And Cody just sighs and agrees. “Yea, me too.”

Catch me thinking about all the clones "waking" up in the past after their final brother (read Rex and Kix) eventually dies....pt 2
Part 1 is here
Kenobi returns to the Jedi Council after a good month, looking haunted as he explains to the Council what he's learned from these mysterious clones
there is a lot of arguing, but it is nigh impossible to lie to Kenobi or any Jedi, and the younger Master finally says he's brought some of the clones with him
Cody, Fox, and Fordo are brought in, hidden under robes as to remain unseen, and after making sure there were no devices hidden in the Council chamber, they stand at attention for questioning
they speak with the voices of soldiers despite wearing the bodies of younglings, and with trust that had only come with time and care, they let the Council see into their minds
It's the first time Fox and Fordo see a Jetti shed tears, Fox in particular leaning against Fordo in weariness as the Council begins to speak in outrage. Cody leans against Fordo's other side, and the Jetti forget they're even there until Obi-Wan gets everyone calmed down
Half of the Council depart for Kamino that night, while the other half fake continuing on as normal, knowing now they had a Sith on the same planet as their Temple
Cody has their transport stop to pick up Obi-Wan's padawan, Anakin having been sent on a small retreat. He's confused as he's hurriedly ushered to come with, but Obi-Wan doesn't seem stressed by the three guys who look alike, so he's not concerned as they shoot off into the Outer Rim
The Council members aren't sure what to feel as they follow Obi-Wan into the main facility, and the same haunted eyes as those of the three who had shown them everything are watching in nervous excitement
Rex was chatting with some of his vod in a training room when an excited Anakin seems to just materialize from nowhere, the Force seemingly pointing out the startled clone who freezes when they lock eyes
Obi-Wan yanks him back before Anakin can step forward, and Rex doesn't shamefully hide behind Wolffe as he can't deal with Anakin yet, raspy breathing and a blade born of the blood of younglings humming behind him
Anakin is confused why the other is distressed at seeing him, and the other Jedi masters who were nearby are drawn to the pain being broadcasted into the Force. Wolffe stiffens when Plo looks into the room, and Ponds calls out to General Buir, please help us calm him, and the master feels his legs moving towards the small group before he realizes it. The Force is telling Plo that these boys are his children, that they have always been, so he listens as he hugs the group of teens as tight as he can manage,
It's a very long night for both clones and Jetti, and it's realized that this time would be different
The captured Kaminoan's are surprised and relieved when they're visited by the Jedi, hoping that they might be freed from their cells. Instead, they're interrogated for what felt like hours, and when they're offered a way to return to their people if they give up all of their work and knowledge of who orchestrated the creation of the clones, they agree. They'd been paid, and whatever happened now was of no concern to them, so after everything from creation to knowledge of how to disable/stop the chips from being made, they are escorted off-planet and to their freedom (Huge fan of Kamino not being their home planet but a testing ground as it were for the clones/other experiments)
With knowledge in hand, those who had remained on Coruscant are given the proof of who Palpatine is, and before they can act, the Sith is killed by assassination
Fox smiles when he learns, and knows that his little side trip when they fist went back to Coruscant was a success.
Cad Bane is now stupid rich, and doesn't really care either way.
The Republic, understandably, freaks out
They fail to notice that the Separatists are also freaking out, as Dooku is freaking out/not sure what else to do
The clones don't really care at the moment, focusing on running the facilities and seeing who can get a hug from a Jetti
I just
I need to stop writing 5 different things at once, and then come up with another AU
But
My clones are my children

Star Wars Time Travel AU #27 Part Two - Suicidal Misunderstanding AU
Continuation of this
By the time the hovercar finally pulled into the temple, Obi-Wan’s tremors had mostly quieted. Cody awkwardly manhandled him out the vehicle door. Obi-Wan didn’t resist; he mostly seemed to be dealing with the overwhelming situation by refusing to open his eyes.
“Master?” Cody absently noticed that Anakin’s robe was tied modestly, with no other layers peaking out underneath; wherever he was before Cody called, he had left half-dressed and in a hurry.
Obi-Wan started shaking again, burying his face into Cody’s pauldron.
“Yeesh- you’re really a wreck,” Anakin observed bluntly but not without sympathy. “Honestly, you’re taking all the fun out of the situation. What’s the point of getting drunk if you act so pathetic that your smug padawan can’t even mock you afterwards?” Anakin hesitantly laid a hand on his master’s shoulder.
It was uncertain whether it was the words or the touch that succeeding in garnering a positive response, but finally Kenobi seemed to pull himself together. With a deep breath, the high general straightened up, opening his eyes to look Skywalker square in the face. He continued to hold eye-contact, expression gradually shifting from steely resolve to open faced delight.
“ANAKIN!” Obi-Wan flung himself at his former padawan with obvious joy. “OH ANAKIN! IT’S YOU! IT’S REALLY YOU!” They staggered with the force of Obi-Wan’s enthusiastic bear hug.
“Were you expecting someone else?” Anakin managed to get out, shocked by his Master’s uncharacteristically loud and emotional greeting, as well as slightly breathless from the intense grip. Obi-Wan didn’t answer; he just held Anakin tighter.
“Man, what did you drink?” he tried to ask instead, deciding to return the hug fully and deal with any later consequences later.
Obi-Wan shifted back enough to make eye-contact again. His brow furrowed in thought. “Just some Jawa beer to wash down the spice doses.”
“SPICE DOSES?!?” Cody and Anakin both shouted in alarm. Anakin grabbed at Obi-Wan’s face, examining the man’s pupils before pulling back his lip to look at his gums. “You don’t look like you’re dosed up. And the only thing you smell like is middling quality alcohol.” he concluded doubtfully. “Are you sure that’s what you took?”
Obi-Wan stopped to think again “The Jawas that sold it seemed pretty confident. I would be more likely to entertain the possibility that I was ripped off were you not standing here with me.”
“I- Wwhere- When would you have even bought spice from Jawas?” Anakin asked, exchanging bewildered looks with Commander Cody.
“They seem to like stopping by my hut, even when I don’t have anything to steal or buy. I suppose there’s not many opportunities for sentient contact out on in the wastes,” He mused.
Anakin only looked more confused, reasonably confident that he would have known if Obi-Wan owed a home on Tatooine.
“Heart rate was slightly elevated to normal on the ride over, sir.” Cody added dutifully. “Well within average human normal, and not consistent with spice use or alcohol poisoning.”
“His presence in the force is... strange,” Anakin said while patting Obi-Wan soothingly on the back. “I’d have to take him to the healers to confirm, but my best guess is he's having a bad reaction to something he drank. There are certain alcohols that can cause side-effects and unexpected reactions in force-sensitives. Though I can’t believe that after all the lectures he’s given me, he would be stupid enough to drink one.”
“He...did have an unknown mixed drink a bartender gave him on the house,” Cody said with a sinking sense of failure. “Could this have been a targeted attack?”
Skywalker clearly looked pissed at the idea “If it was, then that bartender committed an act of treason.” Only the fact that he was still supporting Ob-Wan’s weight (in what was rapidly approaching the second-longest hug they had ever shared) kept him from taking command of the troopers to interrogate a bartender.
“Sir, do you want me to accompany you to medical and make a report?” Cody asked.
Anakin hesitated, thinking while Obi-Wan rested his chin on his former padawan’s shoulder. As amusing as the idea was in theory, he didn’t really want to humiliate a vulnerable, emotional Obi-Wan by dragging him through the heart of the temple to be gawked at and judged.
“No.” He finally decided, “Even if he somehow managed to miss the fact that he was being poisoned in a civilian bar, he’s more than capable of processing toxins on his own, and I’m more than capable of monitoring him overnight. We’ve got a full field med-kit in our quarters- I can take a blood sample tonight, and ask him what he wants to do with it once he sobers up in the morning.”
Obi-Wan readjusted slightly as Anakin shrugged, “It’s also possible that he just, you know, overdid it drinking, which isn’t anyone’s business but his own. I mean, he hasn’t exactly had the opportunity to cut loose when he’s a High General all the time; his tolerance might not have been where he was expecting.”
Cody saluted in acknowledgement of the command decision. He ruthlessly quashed any doubts, reminding himself that General Kenobi had, in fact, asked for General Skywalker by name, and Skywalker was likely to better informed on Jedi responses to alcohol.
“Master, let’s get you to our quarters so you can sleep this off,” Anakin reluctantly pulled back from was now officially the longest hug Obi-Wan had ever given him. “Can you walk by yourself, or do you want me to help?”
The unusually peaceful smile Obi-Wan was wearing started to slide away. “Our quarters? Our quarters were destroyed. There’s nothing to find there now but ash,” he stated, as if gently reminding Anakin of a known tragedy.
Cody, still standing by, sucked in a breath.
“Besides,” he continued mater of factly, “You were barely ever in them at this point anyway. Even for a dream, it would be a lot more realistic for me to go to my quarters and sit in the dark trying to memorize casualty lists, while you’re out somewhere unknown, carousing with Padme presumably.”
“Carousing with Padme?! I - why would you- Master!” Anakin fumbled out, addressing the last point first before processing the rest.
“And is that seriously what you do when you have time off? Just sit and memorize the names of everyone who died during the war? That’s - that’s seriously sad Obi-Wan, we are talking about that when you sober up.” Not giving Obi-Wan the chance to defend his extremely sad hobby, Anakin plowed on.
“And our quarters are fine, I know that- uh- I know I haven’t been around a lot, but I was just in there earlier today, they look practically the same as they did when I was a padawan. Whatever you saw, here and now - I promise you - here and now the temple is fine. We’ll talk about your vision or your hallucination once you sober up, I promise.” Anakin ended emphatically, gripping Obi-Wans shoulders and staring directly into his eyes.
The miniature rant seemed to work.
“That sounds nice,” Obi-Wan said smiling, “I would love to see our old rooms- I know it didn’t really matter either way to you, but I always took comfort in the fact that you never bothered with requesting a new room after you were knighted. I know, I know that between how rarely we were temple based and Padme, it probably just didn’t cross your mind, but it was nice to have some tangible reminder of our connection, even as the war and the growing darkness stole everything else.”
Anakin truly didn’t know how to respond, the raw emotional honesty somehow even more painful than the crushing hug. Obi-Wan reached up to smooth back his hair like he was still a child. He then walked a few steps to face the extremely out-of-depth Commander Cody.
Not hesitating, Obi-Wan pulled Cody into a tender hug which he couldn’t help but lean into. The commander brought his arms up and around but hesitated to actually make contact, instead ghosting his hands along the general’s back.
“I always wanted to do that,” Obi-Wan whispers into Cody’s ear. “I can never thank you enough for all you’ve done; I never would have gotten through the war without you. I wish...I wish I could tell you that I consider you one of the best of men, and one of the best of friends. But... I can’t. Even if I abandoned my last mission to search you out, even if I succeeded in finding you, you would never allow me close enough to do this.”
Cody’s heart is racing, trying to decode the General’s words over the ringing white noise in his ears. He stops breathing entirely as Obi-Wan shifts to press their foreheads together, allowing him to focus entirely on the feel of the general’s breath, the sight of tears trickling again from red-rimmed eyes. “Goodbye, Cody.” he finally exhales.
And with that he turned and walked away, not looking back.

Cody Time Travel Fix-it AU (Part 2)
Part 1 here
Cody remembers where he heard the name “Qui-Gon Jinn” as the Jedi is questioning him on what happened to Xanatos and suddenly finds himself unable to breathe for a second. (Qui-Gon had offered to make him tea in such a General Kenobi way that it suddenly clicked in his head)
This man, this Jedi, who had all but abandoned Obi-Wan at the temple was Obi-Wan’s MASTER/TEACHER. The name had come up once and General Kenobi had explained to Cody that Qui-Gon and him had had a very… turbulent relationship.
He manages to keep his wits about him and to not raise too much suspicion from Jedi Jinn (and somehow keep his roll in Xanatos’ demise a secret) and is there when the Jedi asks Obi-Wan’s forgiveness and a retry on the whole “Padawan” thing
So Cody is slightly horrified and confused when Obi-Wan turns down Qui-Gon’s apprenticeship offer after everything on Bandomeer quiets down. Qui-Gon himself looks like he’s been slapped or something and Cody’s mouth drops open because “what the kriff kid you were talking about this in the fields all day about how you wanted to be a Jedi and why are you throwing this away you can’t throw it away there are people you have to meet, wars to fight in, brothers to find and then lead, Anakin to train, the KRIFFING–
He’s even more horrified when Obi-Wan explains to Qui-Gon that he already found a “master” of sorts which turns out to be Cody
Cody’s brain scrambles for a solution of some kind as he asks Jinn to leave the room for a second. The conversation with Obi is awkward at first, with Cody basically saying he’s not anyone’s “master” and calls Obi-Wan his “vodika” (little brother) and encourages him to go with the Jedi Jinn and be a Padawan and a Jedi because, “You’re going to do great things and I can’t be the reason you stay behind and miss them all.”
He leaves Obi to think about that and goes to see Jinn about trying to “fix” the situation. There is a lot of debating and the Jedi is clearly not entirely happy with the solution they come up with.
Cody wants to be around Obi-Wan (because he’s not failing his General again, no sir) and make sure he doesn’t get himself killed. He explains this to Jinn as simply wanting to protect the boy because he reminds him of his older brother who is now dead. But Cody also knows he can’t interfere with Obi-Wan’s training too much and does not want to ruin the boy’s chances at becoming a Jedi.
Basically, Cody signs up to be part of the Temple Security Force (the non-Force sensitive part of them) and is allowed to accompany Master Jinn and Padawan Kenobi on their missions as a “guard” (Jinn and Kenobi know he’s a soldier at this point).
*to keep things relatively simple, I’m just going to say that this arrangement works out pretty well and Obi-Wan bonds more with Qui-Gon and Cody is a friendly face and voice the boy can turn to if he wants*
Then Melida/Daan happens
Cody’s seen war. He’s seen the brink of war. And what he sees here is something that’s very close to imploding. Cody encourages Qui-Gon to leave as soon as possible from the planet with Master Tahl. But apparently, Obi-Wan doesn’t see the signs and tries to stay on the planet to help “The Young”
Poor Jinn looks as depressed as when Cody first saw him and the clone tells Qui-Gon to wait an hour to see if Cody could talk some sense into his Padawan.
Cody tells Obi about his experiences in war. He doesn’t say where or when or even give a planet name but he describes watching his brothers in arms fall, the horror he saw and felt, the traitors he saw and served, and losses they endured. He basically tells Obi-Wan that it is noble to want to help these kids but Kenobi needs to be better than fighting a war.
He also points out that leaving Qui-Gon like this is basically betraying him. Like Xanatos did. Did he really want to do that to his Master?
Obi ends up not leaving the Order (hooray!) and a few weeks later they receive news Melida/Dann has spiraled out of control that no one can fix and that most of The Young have been killed.
*since Xanatos is dead, Bruck doesn’t die/try and kill Obi-Wan and there is no trip to Telos*
*also, I don’t feel like plotting out everything so the next part is just going to be some random bullet-points that happen*
*Also a note for my own sanity: let’s say Cody’s advanced ageing metabolism is disabled by the Force when he gets sent to the past so he ages normally now*
Qui-Gon slowly learns to trust Cody over the years because everytime his apprentice is kidnapped/injured Cody throws himself full force into the mission. Cody would never say Qui-Gon is a brother (at first), but he respects the man and knows he cares for Obi-Wan. Basically, they get along because of their united goal of making sure this trouble magnet of a Jedi lives.
The three of them have tea together sometimes. Cody burst out laughing when Obi-Wan actually spat out the liquid (of his future favorite tea) which confused both Jedi to no end but whatever
Cody acts as a guard but also as an advisor to both Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon on certain missions. Obi listens to him more, but Qui has taken his advice from time to time (mostly it’s battle tactics. General Kenobi was always better with the negotiating and diplomacy. Cody’s better at strategies)
Cody teaches Obi-Wan some hand-to-hand combat and also a little target practice with blasters (“Yes, it’s uncivilized but it may save your life one day”)
The first time they meet Senator Palpatine, Cody resists the urge to shoot the man in the face but only barely. He very slowly and stubley points out things to Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan about the Senator that doesn’t really add up to him. It doesn’t go anywhere, but at least they can start seeing the signs of corruption if they choose to look hard enough.
Cody helps comfort Obi-Wan when he’s down.
When Tahl dies (which drives Qui-Gon into a depression spiral again), Cody is Obi’s emotional support and helps Obi-Wan let go of his emotions and accept loss (because he’s had a lot of experience with that)
Also after Tahl’s death, Cody also finds Qui-Gon, sits him down, and basically tells him to shut the kriff up, he’s a Jedi so act like one, he’s not the only one who’s lost someone close to them, what kind of example is he being to Obi-Wan right now, etc.
Qui does his thing of ignoring him and “you don’t understand” thing and Cody basically EXPLODES.
“You shut the kriff up, Jinn! I have watched brothers kill brothers! I have seen a free galaxy descend into tyranny and fear. And I took a part in that, not by choice! I was used to make the freedom I fought for die! I am responsible for killing my own brother! Everytime I look in the mirror I want to put a blaster bolt through my own head because of what I did! So don’t you EVER say I don’t know how you feel because I’ve been through KRIFFING Hell and back!”
It’s safe to say that’s when Jinn gets snapped out of his own head because of the waves of agony and pain that roll off of Cody. The clone is now crying and basically tells Jinn to get up, go see his apprentice, and tell him he matters because right now he thinks you don’t care about him at all. (Which Jinn does and they both get some well needed hugs)
Also Jinn trusts Cody better now and Cody considers Jinn as a true “General” (so not a “vod” but pretty darn close)
When they travel to Mandalore, Cody acts as a translator among civilians and is quite useful in keeping the future Duchess safe.
He also encourages Obi-Wan to have emotions/feelings for the Duchess, but also warns him about being able to let go and reminds him of Qui-Gon and Tahl. Basically, it’s okay to love but don’t forget your own duty and her duty as well.
*and we’re stopping here because again: LENGTH*

I started writing the Dragon Age Inquisition and Star Wars the Clone Wars Crossover with Commander Cody as the Inquisitor it’s still kind of a draft, I’m not putting it on Ao3 quite yet but Here’s very depressed, not in a good mental place post Order 66 Cody starting DAI
Cody returned to consciousness with the suddenness of a soldier. Instinct kept his breathing even, as if he was still sleeping, and he evaluated his condition. His helmet and everything attached to his belt were missing, and his hands were bound before him. His legs and back were stiff, his left hand was stinging with an inconsistent burn, and his temple was throbbing. He was slightly dehydrated and had not eaten in a few days. Not optimal, he could fight but was not eager to do so. The shuffle of fabric and the sound of breathing echoing slightly off of walls meant he was in a room and not alone.
His hand flared with sharp electric pain and he opened his eyes fully, staring at it as it crackled with green light. Four humanoids in animal leather and metal armor were pointing metal swords at him. He was in a stone chamber, the grate above and steep angle of the light through them indicated a basement. It smelled of agriculture and sewage and must.
The helmets covered enough of the guards’ faces that Cody could not determine what humanoid species these people were, but if they were so primitive, he might not have been educated on them in detail in training. He wracked his brain, trying to remember what the mission briefing for this planet must have been. When he tried to think about what he had done even the day prior he was met with a spike of headache driving through his skull over his right eye.
He had been on Utapau with General Kenobi hunting down Grievous - no - he had been in a temple, his hands fumbling with a thermal detonator in the faint light of a headlamp, planting charge after charge. General Kenobi was missing - he had shut off his commlink and taken his blaster and pointed at those roughspun robes covering soft flesh and he had-
The large door to the stone chamber opened heavily on swinging hinges and two women entered, one in armor, one in a hood. He was hyperventilating and one of them was behind him talking in his ear and he could not listen for the blood pounding in his ears. She was angry, he needed to listen.
Compartmentalize. Compartmentalize. Compartmentalize. The voice of one of the trainers pounded in his mind. A clone can’t just stop fighting because his brother dies screaming beside him. A clone can’t loose focus because of panic. But training never covered betrayal. They were bred for loyalty, it was never an option.
“-except for you.” Her tone was cold and accusatory, but contempt from natural-borns was nothing new.
“What- what are you-” He tried to ask, breath slowing and wits regathering into a false calm, focused on the moment.
“Explain this!” She grabbed his throbbing hand and it shot with electricity again, the brilliant green of a lightsaber, but the pain of one stabbing through his hand.
“I can’t.”
“What do you mean you can’t?” Cody understood an interrogation, but usually he was on the other side. He wondered if he was taking the blame for a brother, a victim to the flawed system of facial recognition.
“I don’t know what that is or how it got there.” He tried to sound calm, to de-escalate the conversation. It was of little help. The woman grabbed and shook him, hands near his throat.
She was angry and he almost confessed to blowing up the temple, because the last clear memory he had was of setting charges in one, but she spoke of many dead people. There had been no new tragedy where Cody had been sent. It had been still and dark and filled with cobwebs, empty but for an aged protocol droid that had creakily tried to ward them off until he took his blaster and shot it through the head.
“We need him, Cassandra.” He was at least valuable enough to keep alive. His usefulness was still the reason for his prolonged existence. The other woman approached now.
“Do you remember what happened? How this began?” When he tried to think his head ached with pain, and he tried to parse what she meant, it all began with a comm-call from the Chancellor. Or did she mean his demotion and disgrace, sent to outer rim worlds to destroy long-abandoned jedi temples? Or did she mean the specific temple he had been blowing up before he woke up kneeling in a cell? It hurts to think about anything between the present and Utapau, and not just in his chest, not just the ache in his soul, but physically in his head. But they are demanding and he is not trying to be uncooperative, he also would like to know what happened.
“I was alone, in the dark… it was… green.. There was a woman, she was glowing… she… her hand…? My- my head” He trails off, hands jerking in their shackles towards his head, the pain was blinding, he retched, dry heaving and doubled over.
The women watched him from their distance until he stopped retching. He had not eaten or drunk anything in days, his body burned for calories, and there was nothing to heave up. The pain lessened when he stopped trying to hard to remember. One of the women was gone. The more hands-on one, in jingling metal armor, hauled him to his feet and unshackled and rebound his hands with rope.
She took him outside. There was snow and hay crunching under his boots. His breath puffed in clouds. The technological level indicated by the tents and cabins and the stone and woodwork matched with the weaponry and clothing he had seen. These people were a number of centuries off from hyperspace flight.
He guessed, from the stricken expression on the woman’s face, and from the throb in his hand, that the sky was not normally filled with a guttering mess of green energy.
“We call it the Breach, it’s a massive rift into the world of Demons. It grows larger with each passing hour. It’s not the only such rift, just the largest. All were caused by the explosion at the conclave.” She informed with a hard detached voice.
Cody could not think of any technologies he had seen that made green energy rifts like that, but he could think of many species whose appearances might be classified as demons by a system bound people.
“That looks… bad.” He said lamely, trying to look for any signs of energy foci or generators in the floating crystals. Thinking about Kyber Crystals sent another lance of pain through his temple.
“Unless we act, the Breach may grow until it swallows the world.” He half turned to reassure her that he would do his best to help, but the Breach issued a ragged beam of light, ozone crackled in the air. He hand erupted with pain, he fell to his knees. She knelt before him.
“Each time the Breach expands, your mark spreads… and it is killing you.”
She at least sounded slightly regretful about his demise. He was skeptical that it was actually fatal, but that depended more on the medical capabilities of the people here and what they had done with the medkit from his belt. And how much he actually cared about it being fatal. His metabolism was killing him, the Empire was trying to kill him, Obi-wan probably wanted to kill him, and the pain in his head might be a tumor trying to off him as well. What was one more thing.
“It may be the key to stopping this, but there isn’t much time.”
The pain was lessening to the previous throbbing ache.
“I understand”
“Then?” She looked almost hopeful.
“I’ll do what I can. Whatever it takes.” He managed, and something like approval lightened her gaze. He would cooperate, both because that was likely the only way to convince them he was not guilty of this particular crime, and because he might get his equipment back and find some way to send a communication, and because every neuron in his brain was wired to serve and protect, and there were civilians threatened by these “demons” and if he could do something he had no option otherwise.

And more so general “everyone is a shithead,” Kinda Vibe.
Which is perfectly fine,
Why?
That’s a lot
[also never mind with the - warning - or get into lines,]
Obi-Wan looks really young-er in the scene for some reason
-His face
-it’s too smooth
- and are his eyes a bit bigger?
10
Also yeah they specifically told us not to get involved and that they were going to do it on their own I-n. Ia tiv e
But screw that
“Let’s escalate the situation!”
Despite that being literally what the dude fears and probably his nightmares
[screw respecting other adult’(s) initia tive]
I know Dooku is implied to be really feckin tox also
But talk means nothing
Dude has to have the actions Attempt it on himself and decide what to do for himself,
He’s decided to enable, Ain’t nothing that can be done about that,
[What was that look?
[also did Obi-Wan not ask what happened down there?]
Great
Time for warfare
For the Jedi that can’t take a “no,” For an an -swer
Gr -e a-t - ? Voice -act -ing - People Shield - What, I’ve- Watch -ed The Watton Boar - Arc- - -Battle
Yeah but it’s -also pretty bullshit - (when have the separatist ever respected the Gen eva convention?)
Rex- Has a Feck’in Point
I
(Also that doesn’t tell them anything this could be basic clankers when no in fact they are commando droids )
Ana Kin’s Voice De-eper?
Com -man do-
[I have a feeling they’re really trying to contest the we have no fig -h-ters)
Lin e- - A-g ain-
O-h Sir, Oh, , Also, how?
But also ok that guy,
Surprisingly, calm ly spoken-
So this could make a great scene contrasting Obi- won’s I believe moral nature, With another strategist that seems to be believing some kind of chivalry
[Also, OH SHIT, is that where they’re keeping the pris oners,
Whelp
Anakin is a dick to holograms,
Seriously you could’ve just turned it off,
[if you had news or opinion to share ?)-
Ok, where the fuck?
[Don’t, get me wrong I know Anakin, was an ex slave, Everything else is new.. .
Including his rage towards it,
Me,
Hey, they’re being smart about this, - Up- s- et-
Yes, thank you, did I miss something?
P-ast
Doesn’t justify any of this bullshit. .
I mean,
Literally no one is smarter than anyone else
So Ana Kin, , OK but that’s a whole different species and/or a group - - this is not “past” this is I just hate feck -ing sl-av er s - And possibly un-vented anger at trauma- - Either way pretty damn va -lid - Dis- trust - Whe-
Oka-y , I don’t-
Also is that an animal or sentient? - A game I find myself playing to no One ‘s Cha -grin- -, Oh
Arro gan -c- e
Ah- tak e? , Also he has a non-evil pet - That’s kinda cute
But also kinda sad, Hint, ing at the fact Dude was probably intended to be some kind of animal focus (Someone who works around or just generally likes animals - special ity)
Before he went corrupt
(Showing some interest in keeping them out of the battlefield, And Fond-ness)
Or this could just be a short han d-e d symbolism For slavery and grooming - Both -work - Do -Tell - [oh yeah dude totally gave away his plan,]
Despite Obi-Wan almost clearly not being in earshot
Nice interaction * introduction
Also ,doesn’t he already know, Holo-gra -m - Formal in- tro duc- tions - Are Nice, - Er-
Seriously what is up with these two people?
Also why did dude growl?
For people that look like cats they sure act like dogs (Bor- d -er) (Nothing wrong with that- just- curious- “ -i
How?
Also they’re just really shout-ing their plans out here aren’t they?
S-u -rr en- der- - Obi- won still playing along.. —— W-help - He gave him a chance - Whelp-
O-k
Honestly he’s acting pretty calm and diff-erent-ly characterized, The Kenobi we know wouldn’t raise a hand to help even himself (In ani.) Also I’m surprised Aniken hasn’t stumbled across anything by now,
Thought that would be the crutch of the narr-ative tension in the office,
But Aight , Calling the chips early is completely fine I will never have an issue with chara- ter -(s- acting slightly smarter than expected,
Though wish Anakin had shown some kind of initia- tive-
Like the stories telling us that he’s really pumped up “about the whole slave thing,” . . . But has just found nada when it comes down to rescuing the slaves, Or just finding any hints about this oper -ation in general,
To summarize; What the heck has Aniken been doing the last minute and a half ~ ? No-thing
[like if everyone had told him to chill due to his clear aggression believe he caused some harm in his rage,
And sent Ahsoka in-stead
That would make a lot more sense,
[and make up Obi- wan look like less of a Irrational Dick By sh(ar-ing) Anakin‘s backstory without any permission or reason,
While there he might have to explain to Ahsoka why he’s sending her and not Anakin,]
Just- Writer Th- ough -t- - Treat- ment - “ You have broken through my defenses,”
Emotionally or ... physically? . . Never mind-
Would’ve been nice if someone actually took him up on that offer - (Like some villain(/enabler) is like you know what my job sucks, my boss sucks, I could really use an nap...
Sure] .. They were just standing there ... doing nothing,
Like, Dude literally just said there were bombs planted all over the city,
And, no one’s in a ru-sh to fix that-
Or use them to find the kidnapped people..
[I mean fair ... but geez.
Colo -nists,
Again, where are they? . . . You supposedly sent Anakin to find - them but we haven’t seen anything - Also yeah the dude is totally going to give up his only bargaining chip . . . After being out gunn -ed- - Well - Also you have one button that only activate(s one mine?
Like did you, set that up just for the purpose of in-timi dating people
Also congrats you likely threw away your only bargaining chip - because from his point of view the explosion already went off- - And he doesn’t know that you had one specific button just for that one mine- - (Like it doesn’t sound that loud but he could’ve gotten hear-ing probl-em (s-) from the near- by explosions, )
We- ll-
“Col-on-ists,”
Oh good thing you told him after you destroy-ed the thing-
And he didn’t go into attack mode and you have a light saber press-ed to your throat-
dumb
I’m sorry but that’s just so adorable
Look at it;
Man like(s soft squishy things and he doesn’t seem to be hurt ing- -it,
Like, How ?
Also, did no one check for that shit?
Like, No-
Me- dic
Wh- el p-
Bo-
Several people -just died And he comforts the robot.. .
Dick
Also, Maybe It’s be cause Cody is Obi-Wan’s Gen. (Generation or General) Doesn’t make much of a dif-ference? - That this flies? (I mean I can understand him not giving too much of a heck, Due to this being a war caused by this guys’ Gen, But seriously,)
Also yeah kinda ,dick , Screw medical attention,
Well,
That’s a lot of faith for a whole lot a nothing,
Also let’s go do the thing we were supposed to be doing this entire time,
(I think)
My brain started going numb and I half paid attention - Oh, wait
now we’re getting into the back story?
After they’re on the planet
Without any pre-emption?
-Er
My brain cells are asleep, - Al -ive - Seriously, what is up with the -bird thing,
(I really hope it factors into his character)
Or is brought up
Frust- trat- Ion
“Zy,”
Dude they’re slave traders I really don’t think you want to do that (Just a thought)
Also maybe suggest trading him some exotic animals,
Dude seems to have a pen -chant
And he seems to treat them re- lati vely well,
(There are some in cages but that just seems to be for transport, ) - no I thought you should ever take animals out of a pre- ferr ed Safe climate
But he could have one set up abet a smaller one,
Wha? (The voice acting there was weird,)
Also, really?
That’s the competition?
(Is there ever a tradition..
That isn’t fighting?)
Also, okay,
but is it like some kind of style of fighting?
(I swear he you challenges him to sword fighting.)
Then again Zy- ger- Ian- fighting-
Dif-ferent rules could be interesting
Possibly establish Obi-Wan as a well traveled man,
(So long as he isn’t allowed to use his feck -in light saber, -) (Which Anakin hasn’t been doing at all,
Also lower ed risks are nice,
Again, not saying anything about deactivating em,
Also what the fuck is with that guy’s facial expressions,
Like ever since that moment it has gone insane, (As in I can’t for my life read what they’re trying to express, And that is the closest translation; I can come up with,
Never mind - he’s an asshole - Even th-
Screw It
(The logic is not on the high setting with this one.”
Any way, Per-
That’s
[do you know how back when I was revie- wing the movie I thought about how the escalation one from 1 to 10 and the characterization switched on a dime?
-Not to insult,
But this is starting to feel a lot like that-
My brain already very checked out at this point-
Because I really don’t need it for this- - W-
Constant Characteri-zation?!
What-
[Excuse me while I sit over here drinking my ‘wtf just happened,’ juice
You know when I was reviewing (Earlier) scenes like this; I used to give it somewhat of a pass saying; (Some thing along the lines of)
Well people change on a dime,
Which I’m starting to realize getting further into this; Is that you need some kind of sentiment Or pre- -empt To Connect Those Thoughts - The eyes need to narrow - The body language needs to change - The music (perhaps) a subtle change in tone; - It can’t change on that much of a dime -
I don’t need a lot; Just some kind of indication about what the feck just happened, - Because otherwise it’s just spaghetti - Like I’m sorry but it’s true- - The expressions before were completely unreadable and down right- unhuman,
There was no word ,cues to indicate anything
And the music which could’ve been a brief Cue, Of whether this is supposed to be abrupt or instigated, Well I don’t, think there is any,
Fix scen; e
This guy smirks, possibly chuckling, the bird leaving his arm-, possibly pre-facing it with, “ well then, let’s be-gin,” or a body posture is simply leaning in before pouncing,
Telling me this is part of the plan,
And that’s Zygrians value a more wild style of fighting with the element of surprise being emphasiz ed-
Which makes sense considering what seems to be a hunting focus,
With snark following up either confirming or denying,
That as true (Or False)
That his actions were prec- edent- ed or not,
As it stands,
There was no Cue
And I’m completely lost. . . . Whel -p
Well that was a bunch of nothing . . . Which is a shame because it had a lot of good subjects to focus on, Slavery, the difference between Wild and Order, tam-ing, groom- Ing, Cap- tivity - The concept of an invasive species,
Unfortunately the writing is so inconsistent, And generally poor, That it can’t carry a beat for longer than a few min-utes
Well I’ve noticeably praised the attempt to take on a higher intensity material
That doesn’t give an excuse for the apparent drop in quality
Often; i’ve said that stupid villains are fine
However the thing that often irritates me in those episodes; Isn’t that the villain’s Stupid
It’s the lack of self-awareness (Not in the poking fun of one’s self way)
Is that it isn’t framed that way,
(No snark, very little realistic the consequences without drawing attention to it, And very little change except the villain is now Stupider Though it attempts to keep the same dramatic tension and stakes)
In sum -mary:
While I think this episode had a lot of interesting concepts to work with they will unfortunately Wasted By the episode lack of commitment, consistency, and constant characterization,
Most notably;
- Anakin’s resent -ment Of slavery (His care of it turns off and on like a light switch and his intensity varies)
Functioning less like a Berzerk/. accountability button (Mild Responsibility)
And more like an excuse to have him flip his lid,
Make odd facial expressions,
And generally put, shout put emphasis In a nonsensical bordering on inhumane way
What seems to be a disturbing trend (with the characters ;)
Specifically the Zygarian here
And Ani
-The difference between wild and tamed; Along with a constant theme of slavery, It’s paired with the constant imagery of animals in cages
Which would be fine if it was actually presented as an excessive detail,
But the focus is put on it and nothing ever seems to come of it
(Almost as if it’s expected that just by having it there, the motif comes with it)
Which no
Animals in cages and... What?
Like, I have an idea what they’re trying to hint at,
But until the story commits;
“These animals are very much like you,”
Then it remains in limbo,
As wasted time And wasted emphasis, -
The Zy- Gar Ian (s) backstory; Note this works off another point about captivity,
Now, from the little bits, I could get from the conversation;
The Republic inter fer r e d, Note; this seems to be a pretty big deal
The antagonist esp ecially affec t- e-d
By It,
But we never learn much about it or him (How it affected)
Yeah he re-peats Some po-ints; But it’s never elaborate- d on
What exactly hap-pened to him?
What exactly hap-pened with the conflict?
How?
To be more precise; This presents the idea of a rather fas- cin- at ing conflict about the over- involve-ment of an outside species into a Nother’s Planet - And I don’t think it really utilizes it
Drop ping it almost instantly, For an almost emotion- less fi- gh t, Where are dude repeats ‘they were happy, And generally everything except “I” (How he was affected) Or any authentic emotion
Just unread able inhumane expressions . . . Not much in the way of themes, motifs, Or anything of real sub- stance- - Sub Category; The clones got injured in an attack; This is not treated with any sort of heaviness - Or even note (Nor to the status/ theme of captiv- ity- or Sta Tus In The Empire-)
Or represen-tation of order,
(And is quite point blank pointless)
Not to speak of the ending where the Anakin is almost point-blank informed That the captives are being held on Ty- Ger ia/ By the Ty- ger-ians
Po-int being; This is pretty subst antless Sn -ack, That lacks any kind of consis tence
- And isn’t. worth the watch,
(With nothing set up)
(Might’ve wanted to go with an R2-D2/ (CpO?) episode) Work on that tone first
Before trying anything serious, With that robots scream of absolute terror upon its death..
