I've been. cooking tigertaur!Eclipse thoughts big time. and the idea rolled around about an AU of Eclipse finding leopardtaur!Y/N and being like "you don't clean yourself properly, your hunting skills are poor, and you're so flighty you could be a hummingbird" and promptly pulling them under his wing (paws?). big brother and little sibling. Y/N spends the first couple of weeks fighting this off in panicked confusion but after being woken up by a gentle paw on their face and a fish dropped on them for breakfast they start to consider this is a good thing

alternatively human!Y/N with the sibling arguments being peak comedy. "I'm not taking advice from someone with only one pair of legs!" "well I only have one pair of shoulders and they're not fucked up!" - @clxckwork-sun-n-moon

Heya, babe!

OH! A dirty, scraggly, very lost leopardtaur!Y/N who has no idea what they're doing sounds delightful! They're anxious all the time and constantly jumping at the slightest noise! They're starving because they can barely nab some small birds, but that does not keep a leopardtaur going long. Of course, Eclipse had to take pity on them.

Eclipse eventually shows Y/N that what he's teaching them is invaluable and they might want to pay attention to see how best to stalk bigger prey like deer without making a sound. Eclipse helps Y/N groom at first before Y/N picks up how best to maintain their coat. He shows them how to hone their senses and sharpen their awareness of the life in the jungle, and how best to kill it with their deadly teeth.

When Y/N gets their first kill that's bigger than a measly big, he's very, very proud.

"You're getting there, kid." "I'm not a kid." "Sure." *licks their head*

Eventually, Y/N stops fearing the larger predator and begins sleeping soundly. Eclipse is glad for the company—he's glad that they're doing well and learning quick. He's even caught off guard one night when Y/N lays their spotted hide beside him and proceeds to snooze away.

I also love the squabbles Human Y/N and Eclipse could get into, considering their many differences XD The fact that taurs are doing with so many extra body parts is both weird and amazing, and compared to a little human without two legs is adorable!

for funsies - what's the most effective way of flirting with the sea slug boys? and what's something they would find endearing to spend time doing casually with them (e.g., swimming, decorating, crafting)? - @clxckwork-sun-n-moon

For their endearing quality time, well, Moony loves to cook, and making pastries is something he has fun with (as it pleases both Y/N and Eclipse). The tol lad himself finds it comforting to read, whether it be stories or something informative. Whilst Sunny enjoys 'dry crafts', so nothing massively messy, like making wind chimes and necklaces!

The most effective way of flirting with the sluggy fellas... Hmmm... For Sunny, who's love language is acts of service whilst being a huge flirt himself, he can get flustered when you're being coy or oblivious. How genuine you are is enough to get his fins fluttering.

Moony is also playful, he would probably be more prone to actual pick-up lines. As much as he enjoys physical contact, he would be more used to it as a comfort thing. So a small touch with some cheesy lines here and there would catch his attention.

And then Eclipse. He would be the most ignorant to it as he is usually in protective mode for his brothers (and then Y/N). He likes having quality time, but I think the bolder you are with him, the more likely you'd make him drop his guard and get flustered.

does y/n have a reputation in town? not like a good/bad rep, but like, they're known to be the local astronomer and that they don't often go around outside?

was there ever like a Moment where y/n started opening up more to Sun/Moon or accepting their help more? or was it more of a slow progression?

y/n does indeed have a reputation! they used to be very active in the community and would often info dump about their new discoveries to the shop keepers. they were seen as the weird but nice space guy. however after their stroke they couldn't visit town much, sometimes the shop keepers will deliver things to them but won't get an answer no matter how hard they bang at the door. the town hasn't seen y/n in quite a while.

it was more of a slow progression. at first y/n didn't want any help and insisted sun and moon just leave them alone but then as y/n spent more time with sun and moon they trusted them more and wouldn't oppose help, and then eventually y/n will just ask for help like "hey can you carry these paper downstairs please?" yknow

oh yes absolutely! sun and moon do like reading y/n's books though they prefer reading off a screen lol.

y/n prefers to do the refills themself but sun and moon do often sneak an extra snack or drink they think y/n might like :>

y/n has been on their own for quite a while so they're pretty able but sun and moon will help carry things up the steps and will do chores like laundry and cleaning

y/n's routine looks something like:

-wake up -realise you've spent the night in the observatory -celebrate cuz you dont need to walk up the stairs -cry because you're hungry and theres no more food in the minifridge -continue crying as you walk down the stairs -say hello to sun who are probably folding clothes or something -eat -go back upstairs -do research for how many hours -tell moon you're not sleepy for the nth time -pass out -repeat

I'm joining in the bounty hunter!Eclipse 'painful and slow and sometimes lonely but working on it' redemption arc thoughts because they are making me go feral /pos

so it's been mentioned that BH!Eclipse does (slowly, painfully, shredding his pride in the process) begin making attempts to try and step away from the blood he spills, making the world's longest U-turn to go back in the direction of Vigilante!Y/N and his brothers. to come home, as Sun and Moon both ask of him. and it's hard, but bringing down the initial wall to ask for help is part of it, and maybe yes there are evenings where Eclipse is seen and there's blood on his shirt. but also maybe there's an evening in the precinct where Moon sees Eclipse handing over a criminal very much alive and intact, and there's an affirmation.

maybe there's an evening where Eclipse knows that a job in his hand wants the method that he knows works best, but instead of going through with the 'easy' practise (it's the only way he knows) he goes by his brothers' apartment to talk it through, to get someone else to say what could/should/they want done. chances are it could lead to an argument, but that's part of the process.

at what point does the change become apparent to all parties involved? for Sun and Moon, is it that moment in the precinct or is it on the chance that Eclipse agrees to a plan that they put forward? and then also for Eclipse, what is the moment that shows him that all this is moving him around towards coming home?

For Sun, it's when Eclipse finds him one afternoon. He's covered in blood from a bounty that he wanted to take in alive but that quickly turned into dead. He should have been doing better. He was doing better. He feels himself backsliding and he confesses to Sun that he messed up. He went too far and let himself do what he shouldn't. Sun doesn't see this as all hopeless—Eclipse came to him, telling him what happened, and trusting him to help him overcome this setback. Sun knows then, Eclipse is going to make it.

Moon is on a case when he crosses paths with Eclipse, though Eclipse isn't aware of his presence immediately. Eclipse is with a bounty he just caught, and he's well within his right to use all the bone-breaking force he wants, but he deliberately holds back, refraining from the violence that would be acceptable for the job but not for his brothers' expectations. Moon then makes his appearance known, and together, they haul the guy downtown. It's on the car right over that Moon sees how far Eclipse has come.

(Gonna toss the vigilante into this as well) It's a true moment of trust and faith being rewarded for the vigilante when Eclipse controls himself around them. It's what they've always expected out of him, and he's finally able to hold them gently and make them feel safe, and when they slip away, he doesn't try to squeeze them too tight to force them to stay a second longer in his grasp. It's a simple moment of an encounter late at night in the scary parts of the city, where the vigilante does what they do best with flirts and charm, and Eclipse is himself, but he doesn't try to do what he wants. He lets them go when they decide to leave. It's so small and quiet, but the vigilante does not miss it, and they smile to themselves as they disappear between city blocks.

The point of seeing himself truly change for Eclipse is when he literally comes home—there's room for him in his brothers' apartments. They make the space and invite him to stay with them so he can be closer. He remembers the beginning of all three of them surviving on their own in one tiny crappy apartment and how it was only bearable because they were all together. Now, everything is so much better, and there's one vigilante thrown into the mix who smiles from the bed that they've claimed in their 'guest' room.

He finally gets to come home and this time he's going to stay.

Well... for picking one of my guys, right at this second, I think I'd had to pick Fool Moon, just because he's the OG baby boy and I'm so proud of him... Plus he's a good example of my 'comfort traits' ya mentioned earlier-

Probably having some grounded natures to them, as well as having some flirty/protectiveness combo too? I've noticed that even with some OLD OCs of mine, I seemed to have loved to make good bad boys-

For funsies: what would Dawn/Dusk’s reaction be to a fellow agent attempting to drop a nickname on Robin, either stealing “little bird” or something like “honey”, “sweets” or “duck” (a legit thing in North of England, used in the same way as “miss” or “buddy”) I hope you’ve been having a good day! Robin isn't even aware of their scary dog privileges, but whatever agent tried that would be. Very very much aware. /hj

So assuming Robin would just kinda miss it/ not hear somehow (because otherwise they'd look at that agent in a way one would usually regard like. idk. the moldy vegetables you forgot about in your fridge drawer or something, and that in turn would make their rival just fight not to laugh at the poor sod who tried that. Robin is not friendly with any field agents except their rivals friendly being generous in reverse Dawn's case lmao)

In the case of blatant special nickname stealing - i.e. "little bird" or "little thief"?

Dusk can be scary, too, and maybe he doesn't need the sharp teeth and the thermal vision in that moment, but when a 7 1/2ft animatronic suddenly gets glowing red eyes and levels a death glare at you, you don't really think about how unnecessarily extra that is. Maybe adds in a lighthearted "Plagiarism is frowned upon, you know." That's it for then, but the feeling of being watched won't leave them any time soon, and they kind of decide getting close to the human star agent is not worth getting past the animatronic one(s)

Dawn? is regularly scary, so honestly stealing his nickname for his rival just invites trouble. The sweetest, most polite death glare you'll ever get, truly. May break something replaceable to distract from the conversation while maintaining eye contact, and whatever fool tried will know Dawn wasn't just being "clumsy"

And I know you asked for their reactions, but in the case where Robin reacts? Just tells the other agent pretty point-blank that they aren't that close, don't call them that - their respective rival has special privileges that come with actually keeping up with them, meanwhile they've never even been on a single mission with Robin. And their boys just preen, so smug about it, and totally would stick their tongue out at the agent if they had one.

If it's a more generic nickname?

Dusk wouldn't care too much (though he still is severely unimpressed), because what he has with his little bird is special, and a generic petname from a random agent really only shows how little they know Robin. If it's a repeat offender they'll also get the death glare sooner rather than later, though honestly, Robin would tell them off before Dusk would get the chance

Dawn struggles still here, since he also dabbles in the generic petnames (mostly under the guise of undercover missions, but that doesn't mean he doesn't mean them). Not amused but can't outright tell the other agent off, given that it's not obviously stolen from him, but may drop a low "Take a hint" with Robin out of earshot. (Again, that's presuming Robin didn't make it clear that petnames from unfamiliar agents won't fly).

In either cases they both may gravitate closer to Robin, just showing off that they can, that they aren't sent away, and also maybe just. A teensy tiny bit of a claim on Robin. If they ever find out they're gonna be so exasperated, but in an amused way, because really, pay attention. They aren't using nick/petnames with any other agent - that should tell them enough about how they feel about the reverse. (Dawn in particular would need the reassurance, though he wouldn't quite admit it. May lay it on thick with the petnames in return though for a while.)

I. I'm not going to add post-reveal canon Dawn and reverse Dusk, because this is already a beast LMAO. The dynamics change that even the original rivals may change their reactions in subtle ways - more assured of their presence in Robin's life, and thus more inclined to let them handle it on their own.

But I probably should go drink something, quite right - but I've had breakfast, a good lunch, and apart from work I also got a looong dog petting session! (Work was fun, too, though I won't call it a treat simply out of principle. I love kids so much though they're so cool lmao)

running in with questions on Astronomer AU like a stack of paperwork falling over the place - do Sun and Moon have a day-night cycle or do they switch on personal preference? 1: alright, sun is out during the day and moon is out during the night HOWEVER! they can overwrite this and stay longer than they're supposed to if they so desire.

2: OHH i love you so much /p stargazing beloved awaa! they'd definitely invite y/n out to stargaze! they'd bring a blanket tho so y/n doesn't get too cold :D (in the dark if y/n can't see where they're stepping sun/moon might just carry y/n back awaa)
