this thing both over and under explains itself at every possible opportunity, the writing is significantly worse than the original epf, there are glaring grammatical/spelling issues which i Normally wouldnt bring up if i didnt have both epf AND the lower quality assurance to jump off from, and this one mission has genuinely frustrated me infinitely more than anything in the original. ive also been having some lag issues from shit that Really Should Not Be Lagging but that could be because im running this on twilight menu instead of from a physical cart like the original (i owned herberts revenge for a while but it was either lost or stolen years ago and i havent seen it since)
there was no reason to make club penguin epf: herberts revenge

I recently finished both Club Penguin DS games. CP:EPF was fun. I struggled at some points, like with solving some puzzles and getting the Elite Puffles to do what I wanted (looking @ you, Flit). Other than that, the game’s writing is good, the characters are enjoyable, and it has a predictable but enjoyable twist before the final missions.
Herbert’s Revenge on the other hand...
Don’t get me wrong, Missions 1, 8, 9 and 10 are great! The agent’s dialogue with Herbert is hilarious, and you really get a sense of how close the EPF agents are.
My big issue with HR is that over half of the entire game is made of crappy remakes of the old PSA missions. They don’t add anything new, and even cut out some details that made the originals better, such as the agent recognizing the Black Puffle in “Secret of the Fur” as the same one from “G’s secret mission”. It kinda makes me sad that such a large portion of the game was just hurrying through the same old missions so I could get to the new content, only for it to be such a small chunk in the game.
Overall, Elite Penguin Force is pretty good, and Herbert’s Revenge is enjoyable at it’s best, and a disappointment at it’s worst.

Here are some non-pokemon DS recommendations!
1. Ghost Trick - Phantom Detective
It's a puzzle game visual novel. Imagine you need to stop a rube Goldberg machine where someone dies at the end, but you're a ghost and can only manipulate objects in a very limited capacity. It's my favorite game of all time, and it was created and written by Shu Takumi, the creator of the Ace Attorney franchise. Speaking of,
2. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
A mystery visual novel series where you need to use critical thinking to find contradictions in testimonies and solve each mystery. The writing and comedy are fantastic, the mysteries are excellent, and the characters are really engaging.
3. 9 Hours 9 Persons 9 Doors
Another visual novel, but this one is different. One of the small handful of M rated DS games. Do not play this game if you can't handle gore. Anyway, 9 people are trapped aboard what looks like the RMS Titanic, and have 9 hours to escape before she sinks with all of them trapped inside. This game has escape room puzzles. The gameplay is pretty good, but the story is definitely the highlight.
These 3 games all have remakes. Personally, I'd recommend the DS version of the Ace Attorney games. At least for the original trilogy and Apollo Justice. The HD graphics just make the art look revolting. For Ghost Trick, I'd day that the remake is pretty much 50/50 with the original, but if you play the remake, go into the settings and change the soundtrack to be the original, not the new one they did. For 999, it's a bit tougher. In the original, on the top screen, you see dialogue, and on the bottom screen, you see in-depth descriptions of things like you'd see in a book. In the remake, there's only one screen, so you have to pick between which one you want, and it's pretty clunky. Most people just set it to the regular dialogue and play it like Ace Attorney without those descriptions. This would make it sound like the DS version is the way to go, right? WRONG. Well, maybe. The remake adds voice acting. Really good voice acting. It's really difficult to pick between the two. Honestly, I'd recommend playing both, but which one you play first is up to you. The voice acting might leave a better impression if you dont know what they're going to say already. They're both pretty radically different experiences, and thankfully, the game has pretty great replay value, with lots of different paths to take.
Alright, more DS games now.
4. Fossil Fighters
Most people just kinda file this one under "pokemon clone" and carry on with their day, but it's SO much more. Unlike pokemon, you only get one of each Vivosaur. Now, I know what you're thinking, "but what if I want one with better stats?". Well, friend, Vivosaurs are VERY different from pokemon. The Vivosaurs stats are determined by how well you clean its fossils. If you damage the bone, its stats will go down. Each fossil cleaning is graded out of 100, and you can always go out and find more fossils and try again. But rare Vivosaurs will have fossils that are more difficult to clean. You can actually perfect the stats of every single Vivosaur you have. The battle mechanics are unique, and the story is fantastic. And I hear this games sequel is even better, but I haven't played it yet. Also, the 3D models of the Vivosaurs are dope as shit, and seeing them fight is rad as hell.
5. Club Penguin - Elite Penguin Force/Herbert's Revenge
What?! A shitty licensed game?! What's going on here?! Well, the secret to these games are that they're actually good. If you've played the EPF missions in the browser version of Club Penguin, you'll be familiar with these. They're point and click adventures. Actually, a lot of the missions are actually just upgraded versions of the EPF missions in the browser game, but they added lots of new ones, too. The story is okay, nothing nuts, it's a kids game, but the characters are pretty strong. Especially Herbert. He's written shockingly well, and I think he's a pretty complex villain for a kids game. The gameplay is pretty good, too, albeit nothing revolutionary. Just standard point and click adventure puzzles, but without the moonlogic of Sierra games. The music, though. Oh my god, the soundtrack to these games is incredible. I'm sure many of you are already familiar with the gadget room. But other songs like Robot Battle, Epic Challenge, and One Very Grumpy Polar Bear are all standouts. These games are criminally overlooked, and I'd highly recommend giving them a go.
So anyway, yeah, if you've always just thought of your DS as your Pokemon machine, give these games a go! The DS's library is criminally underlooked. The DS had a lot of really cool and unique features that make porting these games to new platforms really difficult. Hell, even emulating these games can be a pain. The DS has a really cool and creative library full of unique games, and it's easily my favorite console of all time.

I would sit down with popcorn and a cup of hot chocolate to hear this headcanon/au of cpi herbert being regularly herberts cousin/sibling
SFHSHFHSHDS in that case, let me blab a bit about this au!
So CPI Herbert, whom I've nicknamed Henry, is Herbert's nephew in this au. In it he ends up finding Club Penguin Island (og version) while on a search for his dear uncle Herbert, whom Henry idolized since childhood. After lurking in the shadows for a while, observing the island and learning about Herbert's history on the island- especially Operation Hibernation- Henry quickly got VERY mad at the penguins. He refused to believe his uncle was anything but right, and that the penguins were cruel and unjust for force-hibernating him.
Henry ends up approaching Herbert and they have a reunion, after all those years seperated. In that reunion, Henry offers to help Herbert in taking over the island/enacting his revenge on the Elite Penguin Force, and Herbert agrees. Henry is family, after all.
Buuuuut Henry is a touch more unstable and ruthless than Herbert is, as well as very distrustful of Klutzy and any other allies of Herbert's. So as you can imagine, everything goes to hell for everyone involved.
I won't spoil the rest of it, but yeah! That's Henry! I'll also attach my (re)design for him.

Club Penguin has Lore? I need to know what the peck Club Penguin Lore could possibly be. Please yes infodump Club Penguin Lore.
I’m going to happy cry thank you
I wrote it all down in my notes app so I’m just going to copy and paste it all under the cut. Keep in mind this is all from memory so I might have forgotten some details
Ok so our main story starts with Herbert P. Bear, a polar bear who lived in the club penguin world. When he was a young cub he dreamt of leaving his small island he lived on and finding a place to make into a tropical paradise to call home, so he got on an iceberg and started his journey floating through the ocean, during which he met a crab named Klutzy who he let travel with him. Eventually, Herbert arrived at an island, only to discover it was inhabited by penguins. He was incredibly annoyed by their partying and dancing and jokes so he made a plan to take over Penguin Island and destroy every penguin to turn it into his dream paradise. A few penguins however, discovered Herbert’s existence and realized how dangerous he is. So they formed a secret agency made to keep the public unaware of Herbert, but also to protect the island from him; the Elite Penguin Force, or, the EPF. It’s run by someone known as the director, Aka the head of the club penguin news paper, “the penguin times”, Aunt Arctic, as well as a scientist named Gary the Gadget guy, and agents referred to as Jetpack Guy, Dot the disguise Gal, and Rookie, along with their new agent: you! The player, who is commonly referred to by the fandom as just Agent.
Skipping the plot of every single EPF mission you can play through in club penguin, because they just lead to telling you what I already did, Herbert eventually does build a machine that traps the EPF inside their headquarters building and blow it up, effectively putting his plan in action. But lucky for the EPF, Dot the disguise gal was already on it and figured that out, and her and the director got them a new base and a new undercover agency name after they were able to escape the building in time: the Penguin Secret Agency, Aka the PSA. Later though, Herbert started operation blackout, where he made a machine that blocked the sun and created darkness all over the island. Luckily the Agent was able to stop him again by outsmarting him and destroying the machine. Next was operation hot sauce, where Herbert seemed to have stolen pizza ingredients for an unknown cause. This event was short, and seemed useless until operation Puffle, where it’s discovered the pizza ingredients were used to kidnap and brain wash puffles (a species of pets in club penguin), to do his bidding. Once again the agent does end up outsmarting him and defeating him saving Penguin Island again.
Next is the lore of the 2DS games! There are two. So in the first club penguin DS game, Elite Penguin Force, we find what’s considered to be the canon way agent got into the EPF, through training and team work with the remaining members. It’s supposed to be short and fun. In the second one, Herberts revenge, it takes place after the final EPF mission with the PSA, but before operation blackout. To summarize, Herbert is back and the agents need to find out his plans. Agent sneaks into his base and takes pictures for clues, dot gets a klutzy disguise, and you find out Herbert’s plan is to flood the island, but this backfires on him when he remembers he can’t swim. Begrudgingly the PSA saves him and the director plans to cover it up with the Pool Party event that actually did happen in club penguin. With the 2DS club penguin games they actually introduce a new character that wasn’t used much in the computer game: PH, or, puffle handler, who trained the EPF and PSA’s special puffles that we’re used to help the agent along the game.
Now that was the secret Agent lore. Next is the ninja lore!
So in club penguin there are 4 main ninja elements, Sensei, an old gray penguin, being the master of them all who also discovered them and teaches any penguin willing to listen how to master them themselves. There’s cardjitsu, where you fight with elemental cards to earn your black belt, there’s firejitsu, where you fight with fire to earn your fire gear, there’s waterjitsu, where you fight with water to earn your water gear, and the final one: snowjitsu. Where you earn snow gear. Snowjitsu is the one where you actually get lore and they changed the gameplay style.
Basically, A long time ago sensei had an apprentice, a walrus named Tusk. He was like a son to him, and he trained him as best as he could. Tusk though, was jealous of the other ninjas in training, who could easily master the elements they chose. Tusk wanted to master all the elements, but sensei didn’t think he was ready. So, to prove his strength, Tusk challenged sensei to a duel. Tusk let his anger out on his master and Sensei went too far trying to show him he wasn’t strong enough. In the end they created a huge blizzard that buried everything. While trying to find his apprentice, sensei found a broken tusk in the snow.
Feeling heartbroken he assumed the walrus was dead, and left, not knowing tusk was trapped inside an icy cave and still alive. He thought sensei had abandoned him, so he stayed in the cave, letting his anger grow. He mastered all the elements himself, even using snow to create an army of sentient snowmen. His new goal was to find sensei and get his revenge. After sensei found out about the snowmen, and that his apprentice is still alive, he sends 3 ninjas, each of a different element, after tusk to find him and take down the snowmen along the way. In the end, they defeat tusk, and while still angry he compliments sensei on his skills of training the penguins the way he didn’t train him, and disappears, promising to return one day. Sadly because Disney shut down club penguin for good we’re never gonna get an official conclusion on if he meant to go through on his final words or not.
But yeah! That’s all the main club penguin lore!

Something for my webcomic [WARNING: Very long and VERY rambly]
Tumblr media
Hey, you thought this idea was DYING, didn’t you? Probably not, or you just don’t care, but hey. I know I have a habit of losing motivation in writing easily, but I’m still working on it! (And I made a better story planning strategy so that I don’t lose motivation.)
Sorry I’ve been so quiet, I was really busy these past two weeks. But now I’m back and I’ve made THIS! I’ve talked a bit about this kinda dumb but fun webcomic idea I’ve had based around both OCs and mascots, and I wanted to make something that gives you an idea of what it’ll be like. And what is this you ask? Well, I made some “posters” based off of the first 7-8 issues of the first arc!
I drew them to give you an idea of how the comic is going to start out. And I also want to provide a better source of information about the comic than the disorganized mess that was the information dump at the end of my “sketch demo”.
Okay, enough of the pointless stuff. Onto the actual story details under the “Keep Reading” button. You have been warned.
Series Synopsis:
On the island of Club Penguin, the director of the PSA chose a rather unusual penguin to add to their ranks. This penguin is Anna Steele, who was chosen after the brave search and rescue of her own teacher. At face value to penguins and agents alike, she is very skilled. There is something not a lot of penguins know about her that she keeps under the surface, which is the fact that she was diagnosed with schizophrenia at 10 years old. (Ah yes, because the topic of serious mental illness DEFINITELY fits within the context of a Club Penguin comic.) Regardless, she makes a very interesting agent.
In a mixture of stories both familiar and original, Anna will be put to the test as an agent in both the PSA and EPF.
Arc 1 (Robot Arc) Synopsis:
Anna has just graduated with her two friends, and has been recruited into the Penguin Secret Agency. This is at a time where Gary’s test robots have escaped, and now they are on the loose.
This arc will be loosely based off of both the Elite Penguin Force video game and some of the earlier PSA missions. The main differences will be that it focuses on the PSA rather than the EPF (Meaning that Dot won’t be as directly involved.) and the actual abridged versions of the game issues starts with Rookie on the Rocks. (The puffle missions will kind of be in Issue 2 and in short “intermission” comics between issues.)
The arc will last around 27 issues. Yep. 27 issues. I have planned this thing way too much. Help me.
Issue 1 (Part 1) : Search and Rescue
Tumblr media
(I’m using a simpler shading style for these. That’s because that’s the style I’m using for the comic so it comes out sooner. Sorry if it doesn’t look that good, it won’t affect the rest of my art.)
Synopsis:
After waking up to another minor hallucinatory episode, Anna gets ready for the final two weeks of her senior year. She is 17, and soon to graduate. She is struggling to choose between a “promising future” in acting or inventing, but before the pressure of that choice can eat at her insides like the parasite it is, something arguably more concerning happens. It turns out that her teacher and counselor, Ms. Blackfeather, has somehow gone missing. After a surprise substitute teacher and her paranoid fears inspire her, she decides to investigate.
Issue 1(Part 2): Search and Rescue
Tumblr media
Synopsis:
Anna is out for the day, and she decides to go on a search for her teacher. Her search leads her to several different places that give her some actually solid clues. After gathering all the clues, she decides to go out and try and rescue her teacher herself.
Issue 2: You’re In!
Tumblr media
Synopsis:
It looks like word of her little rescue has reached the PSA, and it turns out the Director is impressed enough to recruit her! Don’t worry, she’s just as confused in this decision as you are. After meeting again with a certain jetpack wearing penguin, she receives a note and is eventually led to the arcade above the Dance Club to be offered the position.  After reluctantly accepting, she’s brought in as a ‘trainee’ to meet with the agent Puffle Handler.
It looks like things are going to be a little more interesting after her graduation.
Issue 3: Graduation!
Tumblr media
Synopsis:
Well, it’s finally time. It’s graduation day for Anna and her close friends Bonnie and Quil. Their childhood is now far behind them as they push off into the next phase of their young lives. Terrifying, right? Anna is left uncertain as to what her future will hold. Hell, even Bonnie and Quill seem to have a better idea of what they want to do! Well actually that’s very debatable, but everyone is ready for whatever comes next.
Issue 4: Rookie on the Rocks
Tumblr media
Synopsis:
Loosely based off of the EPF DS game mission of the same name, Anna is called in for a surprise first mission. Apparently, an agent named Rookie has gone missing along with reports of a reckless snowboarder. This sounded about right for the guy. Anna, who has just pulled an operation like this, is chosen to search for him.
Issue 5: In search of a Scientist (Part 1)
Tumblr media
Synopsis:
Loosely based off of the EPF DS game mission “Looking for Clues”, It looks like another agent has gone missing. This time, it’s Gary the Gadget Guy. And it looks like Anna has to pull off another search and rescue to find him. Easy to say, this has been one hell of a week.
Issue 6: In Search of a Scientist (Part 2)
Tumblr media
Synopsis:
Loosely based off of the EPF DS mission “Do It Yourself Carting”, Anna has gathered all of the clues. This leads her to the mines where she has to make a minecart of her own and find Gary. And after finding the scientist, she finds that she actually gets along with him more than she’d expect. (Which is a miracle given her difficulty trusting others.)
Issue 7: Nerds Unite!
Tumblr media
Synopsis:
Anna is finally done with the unplanned rescue missions and is ready to ease into her new agent life. While awkwardly hanging around in the HQ waiting for orders, she decides to check up on Gary since he seemed a bit injured the last time she saw him. And after she hears an explosion in the gadget room, she immediately investigates.
And that’s pretty much all the previews. I’ll dump a little more information below, though.
Other Arcs:
I have a plan for several other arcs if this comic actually goes anywhere. I have ideas for both original and unoriginal arcs. These arcs include the Herbert Arc, the Herbert’s Revenge Arc, the short Operation Hibernation Arc, and a completely original arc that I can’t really describe because it’s honestly a bit too big to spoil. Let’s just call it the “Shit goes down” arc that leads to Operation Blackout. I’m probably putting WAY too much thought into something like this, but hey.
Uploading:
I don’t really have much an idea as to when the first issue will finally be complete at the moment, but I’m still trying to get it done as fast as I can. While I’d prefer to release the entire issue in one go, I might upload it a few pages at a time.
And yeah, that’s pretty much it. Kind of a weird comic idea, I know, but I hope you at least enjoy the art.

club penguin memories
putting a “read more” on this because it’s pretty long and i don’t want this to cover anyone’s entire dash
My current penguin, made when I was little, is 2737 days old. It has 200 stamps and 39188 coins.
It started on September 28, 2009. I was a younger girl back then, and I had heard of this neat site called “Club Penguin.” I decided to create an account because, well, why not!
At the time, I was pretty insecure about my real name, so I decided to use my “spirit name” in my username, Katie (i don’t really do spirit names anymore). However, it seemed that almost every combination of numbers in front of the word Katie was taken. I asked my mom for help and she said “Oh, how about Katieloo?” I thought that was pretty cool, so I added a 2010 on the end of that to make the account “not outdated” in the future, and chose to make my penguin yellow.
And with that, Katieloo2010 was born.
At some point, I decided that I loved this game so much that I wanted membership. My mom agreed to pay for 6-month membership and to constantly renew it.
That membership lasted for years.
I don’t have too many specific memories, nor do I have a clear memory of what order they happened in, so here they are:
First Swear Word:
One day, I saw a yellow penguin in a bellhop costume advertising a party at his “iggy”. I went to his igloo only to discover something...rather interesting.
Written in all capital letters with torches on the wall was the word FUCK.
Now, I was little back then and didn’t know what swear words were, so I said “Oh, it spells a word!” “It spells...”
Someone warned me “DON’T SAY IT LOL”
I didn’t listen.
I ran to my mom crying. “Mommy, mommy, I got banned on Club Penguin!”
My mom managed to send an appeal and I got my account back, but the event hasn’t (and probably will never) left my head since.
Beating Sensei:
After I got my black belt, it was finally time for me to face Sensei. Sensei’s AI was significantly better than the average Card-Jitsu player, and I had quite a bit of trouble.
However, due to sheer luck, I eventually managed to beat him! I ran downstairs to my mom and sister (who were having an argument) to declare the news, and their argument ended immediately. They congratulated me and everything.
Video Games:
I have quite a few minor memories of playing the Club Penguin console games. The ones I own are Club Penguin: Elite Penguin Force (which i still own to this day and play occasionally for the sake of nostalgia), Club Penguin: Herbert’s Revenge (which my mother revealed to me at my sister’s birthday party when i sat in the playroom, lonely and sad) (i lost this game and i haven’t found it), and Club Penguin: Game Day (which i still have, but don’t play anymore because of my Wii’s prone-to-crashing condition).
In fact, maybe I’ll play Club Penguin: Elite Penguin Force again once my 3DS gets fixed. Maybe I’ll even liveblog or livestream it.
Maybe.
While my days on Club Penguin may be over, my memories will never fade. I still go on CPPS.me sometimes, to relive those memories I once had experienced.
Bon voyage, Club Penguin.
(And no, I won’t be getting Club Penguin Island.)
